Chapter 4: Gabriella
Henry looked up from his work and suddenly said to Strelitzia. "Have you seen Helena's sister's website?"
"No" Strelitzia responded.
"Her sister has over 2000 followers," he said.
"And yet you have none" Helena spoke up clearly miffed that Henry was bringing the subject up, but she still had a little smile on her face.
"What is the title of her most popular video" Henry giggled under his breath.
"Henry, we have been through this before" Helena spoke in a warning tone. "If you don't believe it, don't watch it."
"Why? She wants people to watch it. I am helping her out. She gets to rake in all that sweet, sweet advertising money"
"Henry"
"Oh, has she been demonetised? About time."
"Henry," said Helena again.
"Here, it is, Lettie," he said turning to Strelitzia. 'The moon isn't real and Frozen 2 tried to warn us."
Strelitzia wasn't sure how to respond but she felt that somehow Helena needed defending from Henry's attacks.
"is that some sort of spoof" she eventually said.
"Ha!" Henry huffed. "It wouldn't be as funny as it is if it were satire. No this is real"
"Really, Henry?" asked Helena raising her eyebrows.
"Okay, it is complete bullshit. But her sister is never anything but serious in these videos."
"Look, don't talk about things that you don't understand," Helena said flatly to Henry.
"Do you believe the things that your sister says?" Henry said in response to Helena.
"I didn't say that."
"I understand what your sister is about even if you don't," he said offhandedly.
"You have never even met her" Helena stated.
"Watched her videos, same difference," Henry said and then pressed play.
He moved his chair closer to Strelitzia and rotated his phone to give the video a landscape orientation. Strelitzia saw a girl who looked slightly smaller than Helena fill the screen. She spent most of the time talking in a monologue while looking directly at the camera. Strelitzia had never heard of most of the things that she was referencing.
"The comments are the best" henry turned excitedly to Strelitzia when the video finished.
'Henry" said Helena, "I have told you before that Gabriella has no control over the things that other people write in her comments section.
"Doesn't she have to approve them before they pitch up in the comments section?" asked Henry. His face was genuinely curious.
"Yes, but..." Helena paused and then continued "She gets so many comments that she doesn't always have the time to properly vet them.
"Seems pretty irresponsible of her to let just anything up on her comments section" Henry spoke fast.
"Henry" Helena spoke slowly "Don't talk about things that you don't understand.
"Do you think that your sister is crazy?" Henry ignored the tone of Helena's voice.
"Henry, no" the pitch of Helena's voice rose a bit. "Look, she spends so much time reading stuff. You think that she has never had to deal with people like you. She has heard everything that you have said."
'Do you think that the moon is real?" Henry went back to his question from earlier.
"Henry" the warning returned to Helena's voice.
"Come on, I want to know. Is the moon real?"
"Henry" Helena was now clearly frustrated. "There are things that we do not know." Strelitzia thought that this was a perfect opportunity to drop the conversation that was getting stale, but Helena did not want to lose the opportunity to talk to continue talking to Henry, so she went on. "I don't have to answer that question."
Strelitzia noticed then that none of the other teachers in the staff room were talking to each other. Instead, all of their eyes were trained on the trio. Eventually, they stopped and started to giggle with each other and shake their heads.
