Chapter 9: The Bee Movie.
(Keith's point of view)
I woke up to the loud sound of Shiro banging on my door as he does every morning.
"Keith, breakfast is ready!" He shouted.
I rubbed my eyes and sat up. I quickly got ready. I put in black combat boots, a black tee-shirt and black jeans. Man, I'm so tired...what happened last night?
When I walked into the bathroom, I was quickly reminded of what happened. My lips were still slightly swollen.
Before I could protest the fact that I really, really didn't want to see Lance or the team, I quickly walked out my door and into the long hallway.
-----------
(Third person point of view)
Everyone in the room looked up from their food goo breakfast to see Keith walk in the room. Might they say he looked horrible. He had bags under his eyes, his skin was even more pale than usually and he looked like he wanted to murder someone.
At this point, the only person missing from breakfast was Lance, but he was usually late anyways. The room as completely silent for about five minutes until Lance entered. He was wearing his usual blue and white tee-shirt with his jacket and jeans.
He took a seat beside Hunk and across from Keith. Mornings were never silent, but this one was. Everyone could feel the tension in the room.
"So, did everyone have fun last night?" Shiro asked. He instantly regretted it because he knew that all the paladins wanted to do was get it off their mind.
"Yeah," said Pidge.
"It was fun until I got out," Hunk said. He clearly regretted saying that because he got out in the first round. Some more answers flowed throughout the room, but Lance and Keith were silent. This horrible quietness lasted until Keith got up to scrape his plate. Keith then went into the training room to practice his combat skills. It always helps him clear his mind.
Lance soon followed to go back into his room leaving the rest of the team to finish eating.
"Jeez, that was so awkward," Pidge said when Lance was out of ear shot.
"I know, right? I wonder when they will try to work this out," Hunk said.
—————
Lance and Keith didn't work it out for at least a week. They avoided each other at all costs and anytime they were together, there was this horrible and awkward silence. After about ten days, the paladins had enough.
"Everyone, please come into the lounge," Allura said into the intercom. The team slowly trickled into the lounge; one by one. As expected, Lance was the last to arrive. "Now, you all have been working really hard all week," Shiro started.
"That's why we're going to give you guys a break," he continued. "Yes!!" Pidge said while doing an air pump.
"But this break is only for some of you. Lance and Keith, I know that truth or dare game didn't end on a good note, but you guys need to work it out. With the way you've been acting, the team can hardly even form Voltron. That's why we're doing this," he said as he walked over to the boys.
Before they could say anything, he quickly pulled out a pair of handcuffs out from his back pocket and put it on their wrists. It had about a five foot long, blue cord. The boys looked at their hands in confusion as they scrambled to try to get it off.
"What?!?! You can't do this!!" Lance yelled as he messed with the cuff as his face turned bright red. Him, Lance fucking McClain, being handcuffed to his crush wanted to make him lose his mind.
"Until you can work this out, you have to keep these on. We're all having a week long break, so you can decided to work it out or be handcuffed together for a week. But, trust me, if it's not worked out by the end of the week, I won't take it off. They stay on until your relationship is fixed," he said.
"How am I suppose to train?!?" Keith yelled in horror.
"What? Why would you want to train while on a break?" Lance asked in response to Keith's question.
"Because, I don't want to be out of shape like some people," he said in return.
"PERDÒN?!? (EXCUSE ME?!?) I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW TH-"
"Lance! Keith!!! Stop arguing! The whole point of this is for you two to bond. Now, you two go off somewhere private and go work it out," he yelled. The two boys went completely silent as Shiro went on.
"And Pidge, I'll know if you follow them," Shiro said.
"Man..." she trailed off as she clicked her tongue. And with that, the team was dismissed. Everyone except Lance and Keith left, leaving the two boys alone in the lounge.
"How do you think we can get these off?" Lance asked.
"I dunno, but we gotta try something..." Keith said as he thought of what might work.
"Got it!" Keith said as he suddenly stood up and walked forward. The cord yanked Lance forward and he stumbled to regain his balance. The pair walked into the kitchen. Keith then reached over to to pull open the drawer and yanked out a huge knife.
"Keith...I don't know where you're going with this, but put the knife down," Lance said. The look of fear rose over his face. Keith answered by stabbing the blue cord. Instead of chopping through the cord, it bounced up with as much force as Keith hit it with. The knife ricocheted off the cord and almost hit Lance in the face. Keith went to hit it again, only to be stopped my Lance's arm.
"KEITH!! Stop!! You're going to get one of us killed," he yelled as he grabbed Keith's arm before he could hit cord again. Lance had his hand placed on Keith's forearm.
"Well, what do you suggest we do?" Keith asked back while raising an eyebrow. "Something that won't get us stabbed!" Lance said. He took the knife from Keith's hand and placed it on the table.
After that, the boys did almost everything imaginable to get it off. They tried to stabbed it, cut it, snap it, burn it over the stove, break it, and many more things. Heck, they even tried to use Keith's bayard.
But, alas, the cord wouldn't break. After around their hundredth attempt to break it, they both laid on the lounge couch in defeat. They had spent over two hours trying to break free of the horrible chain.
"What are we going to do?" Keith asked as he stared at the ceiling.
"I have no idea," Lance responded. He wanted to talk to Keith and work it out, but he couldn't get the nerve to do it.
He hated himself for that.
If he ever thought that a girl was hot or he wanted to date someone, he would just say it. But, this, this was different. He could barely even speak without stuttering or making a fool of himself.
He's weak.
"C'mon. Let's go do something," Keith said out of the blue.
"Like what? We can barely walk together without pulling each other in these cuffs," Lance responded while holding up his cuffed arm.
Keith stood up and yanked him forward, sending the blue paladin crashing onto the floor.
"I don't know, but not just sitting around and doing nothing." Lance quickly stood up and brushed himself off.
"I know! I put some earth games in my bag when I left to go to the Garrison. We could play them."
"You're meaning to tell me you had those games the entire time without telling us?!?" Keith yelled back. Everyone longed for the things back on earth, games included.
"Jeez...sorry. I just forgot," Lance responded. Lance leaded them down the long hallway to his room. They both opened the door to his room. It was a total disaster. Clothes and shoes scattered the floor. Everything was in piles or was disorganized. This made Keith's skin crawl.
"How can you make such a mess?" Keith asked. Lance ignored him as he dug into his closet to pull out some games: Uno, Battleship, a deck of playing cards, Monopoly, and Scrabble. Keith took half of the games in his hands before he spoke.
"Man, I can't believe you've been hoarding these..." he trailed off as he looked down at the familiar games. "Let's go to my room. Your's is a mess," Keith said as he opened the door.
They walked down the hallway and found themselves in Keith's perfectly clean room. Everything was organized and Lance could see over 50 articles of black clothing in his closet. Keith shut the door behind him and they took a seat on the floor.
"Okay what do you want to play first?" Lance asked as they set down the boxes of games. "Hmmmm...Battleship!" Keith declared. They set up the games and started playing. When Keith beat Lance ten times at it, they moved on to Uno, then Monopoly. They played for hours, and before they knew it, it was dinner time.
Keith and Lance walked into the full dining room and grabbed some food.
"So, how's your bonding going?" Pidge asked with a sarcastic tone as they both took a seat. She actually didn't need to ask because she and Matt hacked into the video system.
The siblings had been spying on them all day. She also discovered that Matt had controlled the truth or dare game, followed by her praising him like a god for making Lance and Keith kiss.
"I actual think I hate Lance a little less. We played board games all afternoon. He had been hoarding earth games and we didn't even know!" Keith declared.
"I told you, I forgot I had them!!" Lance said in remark.
"You had earth games?!" Hunk asked in a betrayed tone.
"Yeah...Battleship, Uno, a deck of playing cards, Scrabble and Monopoly," he said in response.
"Why didn't you say anything? I would die for a game of Uno!" Hunk said.
"I said I'm sorry! We'll play a game later if you guys would like," he said. The table when silent for a moment as everyone ate their food goo.
After a while, Lance stole some movies from the lounge and they went into Keith's room. They pulled over the spare couch and placed it in front of the small T.V. After fighting for a while, they decided on the Bee Movie. They didn't really want to actually watch the movie; just make fun of the meme.
Lance was just watching the horrible film until he felt something fall to rest up against his shoulder. He froze.
He looked over in panic to see that Keith had fallen asleep and was now resting up against him. He panicked and questioned what he should do. He blushed as Keith's breathing slowed. Lance noticed that Keith almost smiled as he slept peacefully.
Lance then noticed how heavy his eyes felt and slowly rubbed them. He yawned and slowly attempted to get up, only to realized that one: if he got up, he would have to carry Keith to the bed and probably wake him up in the process, and two: he could not get up without Keith falling over and waking up.
Wait.
Did he just think that he would just carry Keith to the bed? He didn't even ponder in the idea of him and Keith sleeping in the same bed! He just assumed that they might. Would Keith be okay with that? He quickly snapped out of his thoughts and decided that he would fall asleep like that.
He slowly laid down onto the couch and Keith just laid on top of him. He placed his long legs onto the outside of the couch. He felt Keith shift and his arms went under his back and wrapped around Lance's waist. Keith nuzzled his face into Lance's stomach and sighed.
God did hate him.
Lance blushed as he looked down at a cuddling Keith. He then slowly placed his hands onto Keith's back in an attempt to get more comfortable. He slowly shut his eyes to sleep.
Before he knew it, they both drifted into a very deep and peaceful sleep that both of them had been lacking all week.
