unmasked
Note: you ready to have everything you thought you knew about this story blown up? the revelations in this update may shock some of you
Toga woke up in her dorm room a couple days after the internships had ended with a big stretch of her arms over her head. She looked around the room with a faint smile, thinking about how far her and her friends had come since they all met before getting out of bed and getting on with her morning routine.
The blonde got back from the shower, closing her dorm door behind her and locking it as she dropped her towel to the floor, walking over to where her uniform was waiting. Toga carefully picked it up and looked at it, a frown on her face as her eyes squinted in scrutiny. With a sigh she slipped it on, doing her hair up in her trademark messy space buns right before she grabbed her bag and left her dorm room, tossing the towel in the laundry basket.
She saw Dabi and Shigaraki down the hall from her and she smirked, tiptoeing closer to them. When she was within a few yards of her friends, Toga threw her bag at the back of their heads with a shout. "This bitch heavy, yeet!"
"Ah, fuck, Himiko!" Shigaraki rasped, taking the brunt of the bag while Dabi snickered next to him. The older male glared. "Shut up."
Dabi's snickering intensified. "The bag wasn't even heavy, you pussy."
"It was heavy with the weight of expectations and the crushing disappointment I feel everytime I wake up and see you two." Toga beamed, grabbing her bag from Dabi.
"Aw, I feel disappointed when I wake up and see you too, Himiko." Dabi drawled with a roll of his eyes.
"I feel disappointed when I wake up." Shigaraki grunted.
"Okay edgelord." A new voice joined the conversation, the three turning to find the fourth member of their gang strutting towards them. "But also mood."
"Rabid!" Toga squealed, throwing herself into his arms and squeezing tightly.
The green haired teen hugged her back. "Morning, Himiko."
Toga rested her head on his shoulder, placing her mouth close to his ear. "I found what you were talking about."
Izuku nodded, pulling out of the hug to smile tightly at the girl. "I'm sorry."
"So am I." Toga smiled back just as fakely. "We both know what it means...who is it...in our next game of tag. There can't be anyone else going first."
Sighing, Izuku let his arms drop from around Toga. "I know."
A shoe was thrown at the duo, smacking Izuku in the face.
"Oi! Are you two done being cryptic now? Can we go get breakfast?" Dabi caught his shoe when Izuku hurled it back at him.
The two nodded, following after their older friends as they made their way down to the common room. When they arrived they found most of the class was already there in various states of alertness and consciousness.
Shigaraki ignored everyone, including his friends, as he strode into the kitchen and grabbed some of the breakfast spread that was on the counter. Dabi followed after him, taking his own serving as well, leaving Toga and Izuku to their own devices.
Toga immediately went off to find her girlfriend while Izuku scanned the room full of heroes in training, knowing one of them was a fraud and who it was. Izuku didn't trust himself not to say anything to him right then and there, knowing exactly how that would go down, so he opted instead to send the traitor an almost imperceptible glare, making his way outside to sit on the front steps of the dorms.
Dabi and Shigaraki were immersed in a heated conversation with Yaoyorozu, Iida, and Todoroki, the original topic long forgotten as they ate their meals. Despite the lively conversation happening around him, Shigaraki couldn't help but notice when his little brother stepped outside and a moment later a student across the room excused himself from his friends, also making his way outside.
Shigaraki narrowed his eyes, a small frown on his face as his suspicions for who the traitor was were somewhat confirmed.
His brother really can't catch a break.
Izuku sat on the front steps of the dorms, staring off at the school in the distance. He heard the door behind him open and shut, knowing who it was without the need to turn around. His guest wasn't stupid and would understand what the glare meant, that he had been found out and discovered.
A hand rested on the back of his neck and a familiar voice spoke sweetly into his ear. "I could kill you right now and end all of this, you know. Claim it was self defense, say you attacked me out of nowhere due to your fucked up psyche and inherently evil personality." The hand pressed harder against the back of Izuku's neck, a miniscule shock zapping the teen. "It would be so easy."
Chuckling, Izuku brushed the sweaty hand away with no effort. "That's where you're wrong. You may be a traitor and work for All For One for whatever reason, but unlike me, you are no killer."
A scoff of disbelief came from the traitor as he stared incredulously at Izuku. "You really don't know why I work for Sensei, even though you are the reason?"
Izuku rolled his eyes, his frustration growing. "Please, enlighten me on how I caused your fall from grace."
"Wow. For someone so smart, you really are a dumbass." He leaned in close to Izuku, fury in his eyes. "You callously murdered someone I cared about."
"You're going to have to be more specific, I've murdered a lot. All of them deserved it, they were garbage humans. I was doing the world a favor." Izuku smirked. "So that is really telling of your true personality that I murdered someone you care about, K - "
A sharp laugh ripped out of the other boy's throat, cutting Izuku off. "I can't wait for you to put the pieces together, Izuku."
"Don't call me that."
"Then don't call me what you were about to call me. I don't think it is very fitting anymore, seeing how our relationship has progressed." The traitor turned back towards the door, looking at the green haired teen behind him. "I'll see you in class, Izuku."
With that, the traitor disappeared behind the door and left Izuku alone on the front steps, his fists clenched next to him. "Bastard." He glared at the ground in front of him, a slight tremor to his body. "I wanted to be wrong about you. I didn't want to believe you were the traitor despite having known for weeks. I was hoping it was a fluke of my quirk, seeing you in your memories with All For One when I borrowed your quirk." Izuku sighed, unclenching his fists. "But I was right, like always. You're the UA traitor and apparently it's my fault. So since this is clearly about me, leave the others out of it. Dabi, Himiko, and Tomura did nothing to you. Stop torturing them."
The door to the building opened once more. "Who are you talking to, Rabid?"
Izuku glanced up to see Uraraka standing there with Toga, Ashido, Asui, and a few other classmates. He gave them a small, very fake smile. "The voice in my head. He's always listening."
The girls all nodded, used to his shenanigans at this point in the school year. "Okay, well, did you eat breakfast? There still might be some left if Shigaraki and Dabi didn't eat it all yet."
"I'll go grab some quickly before class. Thanks, Ashido." Izuku stood up as the girls passed him on the steps.
Toga paused, waving the others on as she stood next to Izuku. She looked her friend over, an understanding in her gaze. "Rabid - "
"I'll talk with you, Dabi, and Tomura before homeroom, Himiko. I've got to eat before a grueling day of heroics, y'know."
Sighing, Toga pulled Izuku into a hug. "I'll see you in class."
Watching his friend catch up with their classmates for a moment, Izuku turned to go do what he had told the others he would. Heading into the kitchen to grab the last portion of breakfast, he began to scarf it down as the rest of the class slowly trickled out to head to school, leaving just Izuku, Dabi, Shigaraki, Kaminari, and Todoroki behind.
The electric blond sat next to Izuku, smiling at him. "I feel like we haven't really seen each other this morning. I'm glad I caught you before class though." Kaminari rested his chin on Izuku's shoulder, staring at him. "I want to talk to you about something."
Sensing the slight tension in the group, Todoroki excused himself to head to school, not wanting to be around after seeing the look on his brother's face.
Dabi glared at Kaminari, arms crossed over his chest. "Well, talk."
Shigaraki sighed, shaking his head slightly at his not-boyfriend's attitude.
Kaminari blushed. "It's, uh, it's a little personal."
"There are no secrets with us rehab students." Dabi intensified his glare. "Rabid will just tell us what you say anyways. So. Talk."
Izuku huffed, shooting Dabi a look while Kaminari rubbed the back of his neck. "Heh. Okay. Rabid...since we both like each other and have even agreed to go on a date - that has yet to happen and needs to ASAP - I was wondering...would you want to be my boyfriend?"
Dabi grunted, a scowl on his face.
Shigaraki rolled his eyes.
Izuku gazed at Kaminari before nodding slowly. "Sure. I'd like that."
Kaminari beamed. "Yay!" He hugged Izuku tightly. "I'm so happy."
"Me too."
"Can I...can I call you Izu - "
Getting a quick flashback to the front steps, the green eyed teen shook his head. "No. Let's stick with Rabid for now, okay?" A teasing smirk formed on his lips. "Unless you want me to go back to calling you Kaminari?"
"Nuh uh. Call me Denki."
Izuku nodded, kissing the blond's cheek. "That's what I thought, pichu. Now, let's all get going to school."
"Yuck." Shigaraki groaned.
"Himiko is going to freak when she hears this news." Dabi muttered.
The four teens soaked their dishes before embarking on the quick journey to school, arriving with a few minutes to spare. Kaminari kissed Izuku's forehead, squeezing his hand before heading to his friends to tell them the news, his boyfriend sitting with his own friends to discuss a somewhat related matter. Uraraka had gone back to her seat, needing to ask Iida a question about an upcoming assignment so it was just the four rehab students.
Toga arched an eyebrow at Izuku. "I just heard Kaminari tell Kirishima and Sero that you two are dating?" Izuku nodded. "Is that smart?"
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Dabi grunted, scowling down at the desk in front of him.
Izuku said nothing, reaching into his bag to pull out a notebook. He hummed as he quickly scribbled a note, switching seats with Toga to make showing his friends easier and more confidential.
The other three rehab students read the note, eyeing Izuku carefully before nodding slightly. Shigaraki scribbled a response, placing the pen down on the desk.Toga picked up the pen and wrote a response below Shigaraki's note.
Based on Himiko's behavior this morning I'm guessing you three have also found the bugs on our clothes, right?
They aren't AFO bugs.
No, they are the traitor's bugs, obvi. He has been using them in conjunction with his quirk to spy on us and send information back to AFO. He was also probably the one to make the video of Rabid and put the pictures up of Dabi's family. I mean, he was outside the room that morning.
Dabi sneered, snatching the pen.
Probably wanted to see the aftermath of his hard work, the asshole.
Shigaraki sighed for the upteenth time that morning, taking the pen and writing on behalf of himself and his brother.
The traitor isn't who you think it is. The real traitor is framing him.
How do you know?
Yeah it makes perfect sense that it would be him. Who else could it be?
Izuku grabbed the paper and wrote furiously, knowing they were running out of time.
I know because of my quirk. Remember, I can absorb people's memories as well. I saw the traitor interacting with AFO when I absorbed his quirk a few weeks ago. I also had a chat with him this morning. It's not him.
Shigaraki nodded.
I saw the conversation. Well the build up to it.
Dabi and Toga eyed the two brothers.
Who is the bastard then?
Before Shigaraki or Izuku could inform them of the true identity of the traitor, Aizawa entered the room. Not wanting their conversation to be discovered, Shigaraki decayed the notebook, earning a scowl from his brother.
"Bitch! That was my favorite notebook." Izuku pouted, crossing his arms over his chest. "See if I teach you how to get out of the cuffs again."
Aizawa stared at the quartet wearily. "Shigaraki, come here."
Taking one for the team, Shigaraki allowed Aizawa to fix his cuffs, slumping back down into his chair when the pro was finished.
The homeroom teacher gave a rundown of the curriculum for the day and school happened without any fanfare. It was a rather boring day for 1-A, no drama outside of the news of Izuku and Kaminari finally getting together.
Even in the dorms that evening, nothing exciting happened. Bakugou yelled at his classmates for messing up dinner, Toga and Uraraka cuddled on the couch, and Dabi and Shigaraki were nowhere to be seen in the common rooms. The only really 'new' thing was Tokoyami vibing with Izuku and Kaminari, sharing his playlist with the couple.
By the end of the night, Izuku was exhausted and just wanted to sleep.
But of course, life is never easy for the poor teen, and he found he could not sleep. So Izuku got up after midnight and went down to the kitchen to grab some water, stopping inside the stairwell when he heard two familiar voices arguing lowly on the other side of the wall.
" - finds out, huh?" The first voice drawled arrogantly and Izuku immediately recognized it as Bakugou.
"No one is going to find out." Kaminari. "And if they do, well, I'll spill your secret too, Kacchan."
Izuku could hear the smirk in Bakugou's voice when he spoke next, picturing the triumphant look on the ash blond's face. "So I guess we are in agreement. I won't talk if you don't talk."
"Exactly. No one can find out about this. Especially Izuku."
"Careful, he doesn't like to be called Izuku."
"I know."
Izuku found he was no longer thirsty and went back to his room, blood boiling with rage.
How dare the two of them?! After everything he has put up with to protect them and all their hero friends from All For One, they pull this on him?! Conspiring behind his back, keeping secrets from him?
Kaminari was supposed to be his boyfriend and Bakugou...well, Izuku had a soft spot for the explosive blond due to their childhoods. Sue him.
The green haired teen needed to talk to somebody about the anger he was feeling before he did something that could jeopardize his friends' spots at the school and the face of a certain faculty member popped into his head.
Not stopping to think about if confiding in the hero was a good idea, the teen threw open his door and started to run down the hallways back to the common room, getting ready to leave the dorms to head over to where his -
A jolt of surprise went through Izuku as a cloth went over his mouth and nose, right before an explosion of warmth spread through his body and a fog entered his mind. He stumbled away from the teen holding him, turning around to stare at them with wide eyes as he slurred his speech. "So...so that's how you...cancel out...listening ears." Izuku slumped to the floor, dragging himself away from his attacker. "Drugs."
The boy let out a harsh chuckle. "Can't have someone like Jiro give me away after accidentally overhearing our conversation this morning, now can I?"
Izuku's vision began to blur. "I...find out...again."
"I'm sure you will, Izuku, I'm sure you will." The teen crouched next to Izuku, ruffling his hair. "But that will happen on Sensei's terms. That is, if he takes you back."
Groaning, Izuku curled in on himself. "D-dad..."
"Oh, All Might? You think he is going to take you back? You've said it yourself countless times, he is all about his public image and publicity. He doesn't give a shit about you. Hell, All Might will deny it if the truth comes out that you are his son. You and I both know it's true, Izuku." The traitor grinned. "And you brought this all on yourself. You'll never be anything more than a lowlife villain who murdered his own mother." He used the cloth to rub the burn marks on Izuku's neck. "Destined to forever carry the reminder of how badly you fucked everyone's lives over. If you hadn't been born, your mom would be alive and All Might wouldn't have such a burden to hide."
Rolling onto his back, Izuku stared up at the ceiling. "Y-you're..a...dick, Ka - "
"Ah, ah, ah. What did I say about calling me that?" The blond snickered. "Not that you'll remember our little chat - or anything about me and Sensei, for that matter - in a few minutes. Shit, gotta love this stuff. Targets specific memories of the brain and fucks them over." Patting Izuku's cheek with the cloth, careful for no skin on skin touching, the traitor stood up. "I'll see you in the morning, Izuku. Get some rest. You're going to need it for what Sensei has planned."
Izuku watched the retreating back of the traitor, eyes slowly falling shut as he tried to remember why the blond was talking to him and why he was on the floor in the common room.
Watching Izuku pass out, the traitor smirked, heading up to his room. He pulled out his burner phone and texted All For One the news.
?: Rabid has been taken care of.
Sensei: Dose the other three as well. Rabid is clever, he may have planned for this and informed one of his friends about you in case this happened.
?: Already done, Sensei.
Sensei: Good. Soon the four of them will be where they belong and I'll have my sons back.
?: After the summer camp, right?
Sensei: You know the plan and so does the rest of the League. Make the four see the truth.
?: Of course.
Sensei: You've done well. Played your role to perfection. Soon you will have your wish.
?: I'm not sure how much longer I can stand being near him, knowing what he did and that he feels no remorse for it.
Sensei: After the summer camp, it will no longer be a problem. Rabid and the others will be back with me.
?: And All Might will be dead.
Sensei:; Finally.
The traitor grinned, hiding the burner phone before getting into bed. He was tired after a day of acting and needed his beauty rest.
Besides, it was well past his bedtime, who could blame him for being cranky?
note: therapy will be on me at the end of the story if yall need it
