truth or dare
The group of first years spread out in the common room with snacks and blankets, debating which of the two games to play.
"Never have I ever can get kind of tricky, ribbit."
Dabi scoffed. "Not when you play with someone as lame as Tomura."
Toga nodded along. "Yeah, he calls himself our leader when the most recent 'villainous' thing he has done was what? That carjacking three months ago?"
"Right? Like bro, carjacking is part of my morning routine." Izuku rolled his eyes, popping some dry cereal in his mouth.
"And when we play, he is all like 'only water for me, thanks'." Toga mocked in a raspy voice. "Bitch, just take the shot."
"In his defense, he usually ends up winning the game." Dabi interjected, tugging the blanket a little off Toga and more onto himself. "But only because he hasn't done - or won't admit to doing - half the shit we have."
The rest of the students stared at the trio as they conversed, slightly interested in learning more about their pasts.
Shinso took a sip of his hot chocolate. "Who would get wasted the most?"
"Rabid always lost." Dabi and Toga answered at the same time, earning a whine from the freckled teen.
"I may lose never have I ever, but I am an absolute animal at everything else."
"'Cause you have no sense of self preservation." Dabi spoke slowly, as if he were explaining algebra to a five year old.
"You right, you right." Izuku hummed. "Anyways, which game are we playing? I assume we aren't drinking anything alcoholic for never have I ever."
The debate resumed once more, eventually fizzingly out with the decision that they would play truth or dare with Ashido going first since she won Just Dance.
Ashido looked around the gathering of first years, tapping her chin while she contemplated her options. Her eyes lit up when she settled on the first victim of the night, deciding to start the game off with a bang.
"Toga!" The blonde perked up upon hearing her name, slightly shocked about being the first picked. "Truth or dare?"
The girl looked to her two friends next to her. "Which should I pick?" They shrugged, mumbling about how it was up to her. She stuck her tongue out at them, calling them useless before turning back to Ashido. "Um, let's see...dare!"
"Perfect! Okay, I dare you to...trade outfits with Rabid until the end of the night or until someone dares you to switch back!"
Everyone 'ooh'ed at them but two friends shrugged, standing up and making their way towards the bathroom.
"Get the tissues ready, there is going to be a lot of nosebleeds when I return!" Izuku called over his shoulder, closing the door behind him and Toga once they were both in the bathroom.
A couple minutes passed and the door to the bathroom opened, Toga stepping out in Izuku's baggy shorts and plain shirt that said 'smooth criminal' on it. She skipped back over to the group and took her seat, yelling for Izuku to come out of the bathroom.
The freckled teen emerged from the bathroom in Toga's signature skirt and sweater combination, the socks covering less of his muscular legs than they did on his friend. He sauntered his way back to the group, swaying his hips in an exaggerated manner as he walked over to his spot next to Dabi.
Once he was seated, he glanced around the group of slightly gaping first years and tsked. "I don't know whether I am disappointed that there are no nose bleeds or impressed at your self control." Dabi whacked him on the back of the head. "What? I look sexy!"
"Himiko, it's your turn." Dabi pointedly ignored Izuku, throwing the blanket across the trio as the green haired teen pouted.
Toga grinned, scanning the group for her victim.
"Shinso, truth or dare?"
The sleep deprived teen glanced at the girl a few seats over from him, weighing his options. "Truth, I guess."
"Sweet! Okay, okay. Um, since we barely got any introductions for the class...what is your quirk?" Toga asked, head tilted.
Shinso sighed, scratching the back of his neck. "My quirk is called brainwashing. It is pretty much like it sounds. If someone verbally responds to me, I can take control of them. There are, of course, limitations to it, but that's the gist."
Izuku leaned forward, eyes wide. "That's a pretty badass quirk."
"Thanks." He cleared his throat. "Well, I guess it's my turn. Monoma, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"How did you become friends with Rabid?"
Monoma smirked, looking at the green haired teen. "Simple. Our quirks are very similar to one another. We bonded over that."
The game continued on for a couple more rounds, some choosing truth, while the ones who chose dare had to do either mundane things such as handstands on the back of the couch to more disturbing things such as drink toilet water or make trash smoothies and drink them.
"Uraraka, truth or dare?" Todoroki asked, sitting down after asking Aizawa for a hug.
"Um, truth?"
"Why do you want to be a hero?"
Uraraka's already perpetually pink cheeks turned even pinker, the girl looking to the floor. "Promise not to laugh?" Everyone agreed and the brunette went on to explain her family's financial troubles, the company's issues, and how she wanted to be a hero who made a lot of money so that she could let her parents live comfortable lives. "I know it's a stupid reason but...I just...my parents have done so much for me...I want to do this for them, you know?"
"I don't think it's stupid, I think it is very sweet of you." Toga smiled at the girl from across the room.
"Thanks." Uraraka returned the smile for a moment before looking to Toga's side. "Dabi, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Okay, well, this one is kind of for you, Rabid, and Toga?"
"Well, okay, fuck me then, I guess." Dabi drawled.
"Himiko already called dibs." Izuku muttered, yelping when the blonde elbowed his ribs.
Uraraka looked at the trio with bright red cheeks, taking a second before clearing her throat. "This is similar to what Todoroki asked me...why do you three do what you do?"
The tension in the room rose to an almost palpable level as all eyes fell on the three reforming villains.
Izuku narrowed his eyes at the brunette girl who visibly flinched under his toxic green stare.
Dabi's eyes glanced around the room, seemingly assessing the threat level the other teens posed.
Toga...Toga looked down at her clenched hands in her lap for a moment before turning her gaze to her two friends next to her. They sensed her gaze, Dabi's gaze softening as he gave her a small nod, the two of them looking to the final member of their trio.
The freckled teen seemed to battle the other two with just his eyes for a moment before relenting with a sigh, dropping his head onto Dabi's shoulder.
"You want me to start, Himiko?" Dabi murmured, the girl shaking her head. "Okay, well, you only have to say what you want to. Nothing more."
"I know." Toga whispered, letting out a shaky breath before looking up at the expectant group of heroes in training. "As you know from my introduction on our first day here, my quirk is transform. But you don't know how it works. In order for me to transform into someone...I need to consume their blood." She winced when some involuntarily gasped. "Yeah, so, as expected...when my quirk manifested I was automatically labeled a villain and outcast by my peers. My parents forced me to suppress my quirk, which can be very dangerous. I...I couldn't take it anymore and I ran away in middle school. I did what I had to to survive, the bare minimum. Until...until I met Dabi." Toga smiled at the scarred teen. "He gave me someone to protect and care for, someone to live for. Someone I'd do anything to keep happy, safe, and alive. We met Rabid shortly after and we all became inseparable. So, in short, that's why I do what I do. For the ones I love."
The group sat in silence for a moment, shifting slightly in their seats.
Dabi broke the silence with a sigh. "I'm assuming Rabid isn't going to talk yet, so I'll go next. Some of you know this, but I have been presumed dead since I was thirteen. I lived on the streets afterwards, not having anything to go back to. No home, no family." His eyes flickered to Todoroki before switching back to his interlocked hands in his lap. "How could I go back to them? They thought I was dead. And in a way, I was. I had nothing anymore, nothing but my anger and spite. Until I met Himiko when I was fourteen. We bonded over shitty childhoods, soon stumbling upon Rabid. And just like that, I went from the boy who had nothing but anger and spite to the boy who had two little maniacs following him around. And, like Himiko said, I would do anything for them and their safety and happiness."
The silence after Dabi's mini confession was longer than the one after Toga's.
Toga leaned into Izuku, putting a hand on his. "Rabid, you don't have - "
"When I was ten, I was taken from the world." The room was so quiet, a pin dropping in the next dorm could probably have been heard. "When I was twelve, I had my world taken from me. My happiness, my hope, my sanity, my mom, my faith in my - in All Might." Izuku practically spat out the hero's name, his hand going to rub at the burns on his neck. "I spent the next year in a very dark place, a shell of a human. Then...then these two loveable psychopaths pulled me out of my self dug grave and restored my faith that there are still people worth caring about in this world. I follow the same sentiment they both said; I would do anything for the both of them and their safety and happiness." His eyes darkened when he looked away from his friends to stare at most of the first years. "And I don't care who I have to take down or hurt to ensure they are safe and happy."
"Oi! Cut it out!" Dabi smacked the teen on the back of the head. Izuku retaliated, claiming he was 'just letting the wannabes know where they stood'. Dabi rolled his eyes. "I guess it's my turn to go." He scanned the group of students as the tension lifted from the room, his eyes settling on his prey. "Kaminari."
The blond sat at attention. "Yes?"
"Truth or dare?"
Kaminari smirked. "Dare all the way."
"Good choice." Dabi grinned maliciously. "I dare you to kiss the hottest person in the room."
"He's gonna need a mirror." Izuku's eyes went wide and he covered his mouth. Looking at Toga, he whispered in a much quieter tone. "I said that outloud, didn't I?"
"Yes, yes you did." Toga giggled, before her face went serious, whispering back to Izuku. "If he goes near Uraraka, I will slice him."
"So smitten." Izuku snickered.
"Look alive, greenie." Dabi elbowed the shorter teen, gesturing with his chin at the approaching blond. "We've got company."
Kaminari stopped in front of the group of reforming villains, staring at the three of them with slightly flushed cheeks. The other first years all held their breath, waiting to see how this would all play out, some wondering if Kaminari had a death wish.
"Dabi?"
"Oh, fuck n - "
"Can you please move? I need to get to Rabid." Kaminari smirked as Dabi literally threw Izuku off the couch, catching the stumbling teen by the elbows. The blond looked over the pink tinged freckled face just inches away from his own, a soft smile replacing the smirk that was there moments before. "Hey."
"Hi." Izuku squeaked, causing his cheeks to redden further.
"Can I...can I kiss you?" Kaminari asked quietly, his smile growing when Izuku gave a timid nod. The blond leaned in, gently pressing his lips against those of the boy in front of him. They stayed like that for just a few seconds before Kaminari pulled back, smiling at the impossibly red Izuku. He kissed the tip of his nose. "You're adorable."
"Stop it." Izuku whined, hiding his face, in Kaminari's shirt. "I have a reputation to uphold. I am a dangerous psychotic killer that could easily murder everyone in this room without using a quirk."
"I know." Kaminari chuckled. "And I made you blush."
Izuku pulled away from Kaminari's shirt, eyes narrowed. "I will stab you."
"With what?"
"Okay, get a room, you two and stop doing...whatever it is you two are doing in front of everyone!" Ashido called out, ruining the moment between the duo.
Izuku scurried back to his seat, scowling at the relentless teasing his two friends were putting him through. Kaminari went back to sit with his friends, smiling at Izuku, who gave him a small smile in return.
"Kaminari, it is your turn."
"Sero, truth or dare?"
"Dare, dude."
"I dare you to..." Kaminari leaned in, whispering to Sero the final part of his dare.
Sero sighed. "You're really trying to get me killed." He turned to his left. "Bakugou, will you go on a date with me?"
"Ha?! No fucking way!" Bakugou yelled, mini explosions bursting from his hands.
"At least I lived." Sero mumbled.
The game continued on until well past midnight, much to some of the students' chagrin. Aizawa had long since come and taken Monoma back to his dorm, leaving just 1-A in the common area.
The first years cleaned up the small messes they made, turned off the lights, and made their way to their rooms, turning in for the night.
It was around two in the morning when Izuku realized he and Toga never switched back their outfits. Rolling over, he stared at her outfit laid out on his desk chair, thinking to himself that he is never going to see his shirt again before he drifted off into a restless sleep.
