Note: i lied last chapter...THIS is the chapter where the story gets blown apart
Izuku managed to pull himself off the floor before anyone came down to the common room of the 1-A dorms, heading back to his room slowly while massaging his temples. The teen felt as if his mind had been played with, much like when he was under the care of his kidnappers and they would experiment on him with psychic quirks to see if that would activate the quirks given to him.
Groaning as he opened the dorm door, Izuku slunked inside, shutting the door behind him with a sigh. His eyes scanned the room, trying to jog his memory. He was positive his mind had been messed with but who had done such a thing? And why?
The boy slumped onto his bed, yelping when his shoulder hit something hard. "The fuck?" Sitting back up, Izuku pulled his sheets back to find a notebook laying on his bare mattress, a sticky note attached to the cover. Grabbing the book and the sticky note, Izuku's eyes widened. "'Hopefully this will help with your mind. Sorry I couldn't prevent your attack from happening in the first place.' Signed, an ally."
Izuku opened the book and began leafing through it, finding notes written in his writing detailing theories and plans and back up plans of various scenarios involving his friends, All For One, and -
Holding the notebook closer, Izuku's eyes widened as he read the name of the traitor, his mind going back to the conversation he overheard between Kaminari and Bakugou the previous night.
Rereading the theories and plans and notes he himself had written, Izuku dropped the notebook in his lap. "Was this how I reacted the first time I figured out he was the traitor?"
An explosion of pain filled his brain as more memories from the day before returned, including the conversation he had with a certain traitorous blond. Clutching his head, Izuku squeezed his eyes shut as the scene played out in his mind.
"You callously murdered someone I care about."
"I can't wait for you to put the pieces together."
Eyes flinging open, Izuku gasped, indeed having pieced together who he had killed that set the traitor off down the road he was on. Covering his mouth with a trembling hand, Izuku fled to the bathroom, unloading his stomach's contents into the toilet. Leaning back away from the toilet bowl, Izuku dropped his head into his knees, curling into himself tightly.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. If I could erase what I did, undo it somehow, I would in a heartbeat. Or better yet, die in their place." Hugging his knees closer to himself, Izuku sniffled. "You're right though. I'll never be anything more than a lowlife villain who never should've been born."
That exact moment is when everything fell into place for Izuku.
"A lowlife villain...is all I'll ever be. And all I need to be." Clenching his fists with determination running through his veins, Izuku pulled himself off the floor, cleaning his mess as he concocted the perfect plan, his way of getting everything he wants. Catching his reflection in the mirror before he left, Izuku touched the scar on his cheek, a smirk on his face. "You and All For One want me to be the bad guy, fine. I'll play along...and show the world why you can never tame a Rabid animal."
With newfound conviction, Izuku strode back into his dorm to get started on his plan, confident that nothing - nothing - could ruin his machinations. Every possible bump in the plan had been accounted for and a back up plan made, there was nothing that could derail his master plan and stop him from achieving his endgame.
How wrong he was.
-
Izuku sat in class with his three friends, listening to Aizawa explain about the exams and the summer training camp that would be happening after the exams are over, perking up when Aizawa elaborated more on the exams and the rehab students' participation in them.
" - will be partaking in the exams, as will the rest of you. The exams will be like the exercise done earlier in the year with All Might. You will be partnered up and paired off against another duo in a two on two match. Your partners and who you fight have already been chosen. The partners are as follows; Ashido and Shoji, Bakugou and Kirishima..." Izuku tuned him out until he got to his friends. "...Dabi and Toga, Shigaraki and Uraraka, Rabid and Kaminari..."
The green haired villain turned to wink at his boyfriend, a devilish smirk being sent back his way by the blond. They were going to absolutely destroy whoever they got paired off against, Izuku knew it.
Aizawa continued with his explanation, listing off the pairs and who they were fighting, eyeing the green eyed teen as he spoke. "...Dabi and Toga will face off against Shigaraki and Uraraka, Rabid and Kaminari will fight Bakugou and Kirishima..." Izuku bit back his maniacal grin, itching for the exam to start so his plan could be put into action. Aizawa finished listing the battles off, sighing when he saw the visible excitement on Izuku's face. "The first round of the exams will happen in one hour so I suggest you all gear up and talk strategy with your partner."
All the students in 1-A rushed to the locker rooms to change, the four rehab students, Uraraka, and Kaminari trailing behind.
Toga pouted, punching Shigaraki on the arm. He glared at the blonde. "What was that for?"
"You get to be with Ochako!" She whined, clinging to her girlfriend's arm. "I want to be with Ochako."
Dabi rolled his eyes. "At least since you're fighting her you can minimize any injuries."
The blonde brightened up at that. "Ooh, you're right!" She beamed at Uraraka. "I'll protect you."
Uraraka smiled back, squeezing Toga's hand.
Izuku glanced at Kaminari. "You thinking what I'm thinking, Denki?"
Kaminari nodded. "I take Kirishima, you take Bakugou."
Izuku grinned. "Bakugou doesn't stand a chance."
Uraraka furrowed her brow, looking at the villain. "What happened to Kacchan?"
He shrugged in response. "It's a childish nickname that I felt the need to grow out of. Besides, I don't think Bakugou wants me calling him Kacchan anymore."
The group fell into silence after that as they entered their respective locker rooms, getting changed for the exam. 1-A met outside Ground Gamma, standing with their partner as they waited on Aizawa to declare the order of the fights.
Team Todoroki and Jiro were up first against team Tokoyami and Asui, the rest of the students moving to the viewing area as the four students made their way to the designated battle ground. Izuku and Kaminari versus Bakugou and Kirishima were the last of the fights with team Shigaraki and Uraraka facing off against Toga and Dabi right before them, so the six students all watched the battles progress together, waiting for their time to fight.
Eventually it was time for Uraraka and Shigaraki versus Dabi and Toga, the quartet making their way to the battlefield while Izuku, Kaminari and Todoroki cheered them on.
Izuku watched his friends get ready for the fight with his boyfriend and Todoroki by his side, unsure of who was going to win the fight. Both teams had the advantage of knowing the other team's strengths and weaknesses but that was also their downfall, seeing as their enemy knew them so well.
It really was anyone's game.
The battle began with the two teams hiding from the other, trying to sneak attack them. Toga had transformed into Dabi, hoping to confuse the other team, whereas Uraraka was currently floating herself and Shigaraki onto higher ground, laying a trap for them.
Team Dabi walked beneath the other team, seemingly unaware of the other team above them. Shigaraki used his quirk to decay part of a pipe from another, causing it to swing down towards the two Dabis.
The former leader of the League of Villains smirked as the pipe almost smacked one of the Dabis, the flame user jumping back just in time.
"Release!" Team Uraraka landed on the ground in front of Dabi and Toga, the eldest immediately leaning down to touch the ground.
"Now!" Dabi yelled, throwing a fire wall at his opponents.
Shigaraki and Uraraka fell to the ground to avoid the flames, missing Toga-as-Dabi as she threw a rock at the duo, slicing Uraraka's cheek. She followed the rock's trajectory and landed next to her girlfriend, swiping the blood on her cheek with a grin. "Thanks, baby." Licking the blood off her finger, Toga transformed into her girlfriend, grabbing Uraraka and pulling her back through the flames. "Best of luck to you, Shiggy."
Shigaraki knew he would have to tell the difference between his teammate and her girlfriend, choosing which one to believe while also dodging Dabi's fire. He knew he would lose points if he attacked indiscriminately.
He also knew he wasn't planning on becoming a hero so this exam was not the end all be all for him.
With that mindset, Shigaraki clung to a nearby pipe while touching the ground and decaying it. He heard a yelp as the other three fell with the crumbling ground, taking that as his cue to attack further.
Leaping at the trio, the teen attacked Dabi first, slamming the pipe that he had loosened with his first attack into Dabi's head harshly, sending the rehab student to the ground before turning to the two Urarakas. Shigaraki smirked, immediately knowing which one to attack.
"As my brother and yourself would say, Himiko...yeet!" Shigaraki hurled the pipe at one of the Urarakas, the other one immediately jumping in front of it and taking the pipe off the face. She fell to the ground clutching her nose, a groan escaping her mouth as she transformed back into her natural self.
The real Uraraka made quick work of floating the enemy team, making even their best disoriented attacks moot.
The buzzer sounded and Aizawa's voice told the quartet the round was over, informing them to meet back at the observation area.
Uraraka released Dabi and Toga, helping the blonde regain her awareness while Shigaraki did the same with Dabi. The four teens made their way back to the rendezvous point, waiting to hear their results from the homeroom teacher.
Aizawa spoke as soon as they arrived, explaining how all of them passed the exam, despite Dabi and Toga losing the match. The teacher turned to the final four students who had yet to take the exam. "Alright you four, get in there."
"With pleasure." Izuku grinned, leading his boyfriend into the maze while Bakugou did the same with Kirishima. Once they were far enough into the maze, Izuku grabbed Kaminari and pulled him close, whispering quietly into his ear. "I just want you to know, Denki, I don't blame you. Am I hurt? Yeah, a little bit, but I get it, given your circumstances you made the best decision you could've. And don't worry, I won't let anyone know of your betrayal."
Kaminari's eyes widened and he looked at Izuku with shock. "You know?" Izuku nodded. "How?"
Izuku winked. "I have my ways, pichu. Now, what do you say we show those two and the world why they shouldn't mess with the newest power couple."
The blond grinned, nodding along with his boyfriend's words. "Let's show we are a force to be reckoned with."
The match began and Izuku sent Kaminari a look, gesturing with his eyes for the blond to head out. Sending Izuku one last glance, Kaminari took off into the maze in search of Kirishima.
Izuku waited a beat before he spoke. "You can come out now. Let's get this over with."
Dodging the explosion sent his way, Izuku teleported behind Bakugou, slapping him upside the head. He snickered, teleporting once more when the angry blond turned to blow up on him. "Damned nerd!"
"You've gotta be quicker, Bakugou." Izuku laughed at the look of confusion that appeared on the face a few yards away from him.
"What happened to Kacchan?" Bakugou grunted, aiming another explosion at Izuku.
Appearing next to the blond, Izuku punched him in the stomach. "You and I both know what happened." Grabbing Bakugou's bicep, Izuku pulled him close and hissed at him. "After all, you were the one that told me it was no longer appropriate to call you Kacchan. Remember?"
Realization flashed through red eyes before Bakugou grinned, hissing back at his once friend. "Now this should be a real fight, Izuku."
Izuku was thrown back by the explosion Bakugou made, groaning as he slammed into a wall. He moved out of the way of the next blast, firing his own explosion at the blond. Steeling his resolve, Izuku poked the bear.
Speaking loudly as he went, Izuku appeared in front of Bakugou and hit him with a punch to the face, hitting him right on his scar. "I thought we put the past behind us when we gave each other matching scars, Bakugou. I thought we were cool with one another." Briefly closing his eyes, Izuku silently apologized before he spoke again. "Turns out you were taking me murdering my mom harder than I was. I mean, she was my mom and I got over it. Why are your panties in a bunch?"
Scoffing at the smaller teen, Bakugou kicked him in the chest, sending him to the ground. Straddling the young villain, Bakugou punched him in the face. "You killed auntie, you sick fuck!"
"Way to state what is already known." Izuku snickered through the blood trailing out of his nose and staining his teeth.
Bakugou sneered, hitting him harder. "You broke the old hag, you know."
Izuku took a blow to the face.
"Send my apologies to auntie."
Another punch to the face.
The blond yelled in frustration, slamming Izuku's head off the ground. "Auntie was her best friend, you know. And when she heard the news of what happened - how she was brutally drained of life - she snapped. The loud and proud Bakugou Mitsuki became a shell. She stopped eating, stopped showering, and stopped going to work. She just...stopped. She got so bad we had to have her institutionalized so she wouldn't die!" Bakugou's voice cracked as he slammed one of his gauntlets into Izuku's smile. "You didn't just kill your own mom, damnit! You killed mine too!"
Izuku laughed, his eyes void of any sanity. "Aw, boohoo. Poor Kacchan lost his mom and his way!" A loud cackle erupted from his mouth as he beamed at the blond. "That's nothing compared to my villain origin story, you pussy. Grow up."
"I'm not a villain." Bakugou sneered.
Izuku blocked the punch aimed for his face. "Oh? Could've fooled me. I mean, Tomura, Dabi, Himiko, and myself were all villains and we worked for All For One, so I just assumed you were in the same boat...seeing as he is your Sensei."
"Just because I am temporarily working with Sensei doesn't make me a villain. In fact, quite the opposite, seeing as I'm working to take you down."
The smaller teen laughed harder, tears of amusement streaming out of his eyes. "Oh, how noble! Working with a villain to take down another villain, all for revenge for your still living mother's death! You hear how heroic he is? You should give this guy a medal, Eraserhead!"
Bakugou's eyes widened and he glanced up seeing Kaminari and Kirishima standing a few yards away, the red head's eyes wide with a hand over his mouth. He looked to the side and saw one of the droids that filmed the fights aimed right at him and Izuku, recording it all.
Kirishima took a step forward, eyes never leaving Bakugou's face. "Bakubro...you're working with All For One?" The blond grit his teeth, knowing there was no denying it, so he chose to glare at the teen and say nothing. He gulped, taking another step closer. "Does that mean you're...you're the UA traitor?"
It was deathly silent on the battlefield, so quiet Izuku's labored breathing could be heard by the cameras.
A slow exhale was audible, the sound of stances being adjusted before three words were spoken, three words that crashed and burned a new fledgling relationship.
"So fucking what?"
