Damian asleep felt the softness of silken sheets intertwining with his fingers, he slowly-, slowly drifted off into his own world. White, that's all there was where was he? He then saw within the distance a figure, nothing more than a small figure. He ran to it, running in the middle of somewhere. As he gained closer the figure became more familiar to him, it was Val. He then stopped as Val stood before him, in the same clothes he last saw her in before she died.

"V-, Val, " he barely could even say

She just stood there, emotionless but soon a tear came from her eye and her expression changed.

"What's wrong beloved?" Damian asked concerningly

"Why do you hate me, Damian?" She cried but Damian just stood there and he felt the pain she felt.

"I-, I don't hate you, Beloved-, I don't hate you," He said

"Why are you sick of me?" Val said crying

"I-," Damian could barely say

"You know what Damian?" Val said moving forward and with every step, Damian moved backwards

"You're a monster, I thought there was good in you. The reason I died is because of you, if you haven't been a monster I wouldn't have died, your nothing more than a burden, Damian. Your mother put a drink in your father's cup and took advantage of only seeking power, your father barely took you in,"

With each word she said it felt like Damian, his soul was being torn away from him.

"I don't love you," she said and Damian fell into an endless void.

"NO!" he finally woke up and breathed, his heart returning to normal. He threw the sheets off his bed and went into his bathroom holding his weight onto the sink, gripping the edges firmly, he looked at himself in the mirror.

He saw a monster

His beloved was gone because of him, why shouldn't he think he was?

All those times that Drake and Todd teased him constantly, calling himself a demon. Maybe he was...

He wasn't a love child?

He was raised to be one...

Damian punched the mirror in front of him, making it shatter and blood draining down his knuckles, he winced at the pain as he held his hand. Punching it did not give him the satisfaction he had hoped for. His father and Alfred came rushing in and Bruce looked at his son.

He was in pain, more pain than he had ever seen. More pain felt when his family had died or when Jason died in that warehouse.

Alfred cleaned up the mess and patched Damian up, sitting there emotionless. Bruce came in with a cream envelope that had Valkyrie's symbol on it and sat down next to Damian.

"What's that father?" Damian asked

"We managed to find her letter for you, the titans all found there's from her," Bruce said

Many superheroes wrote letters to their love ones in case something bad happened to them, Val's letters were kept well hidden.

Damian hesitated at first he slowly took the letter from his father and looked at it observing the appearance, seeing at the back 'to Damian,' in her cursive calligraphy. Bruce got up giving his son space to read his girlfriend's letter.

Dear Damian,

Damian read

If your reading this letter then you probably know why. I won't write how I did cause I would be writing a thousand different starts this letter. I've written this letter a million times, finding the right way to right it. So, I'm going to start off how we first met, no not at the titan's tower but when we crossed paths when we were ten.

You may not remember but you were still at the league of assassins, you haven't met your father yet. I was running, running from my past. When I met you at the tower I knew that you were somehow familiar. It took me a while for me to figure out but I remembered. The boy with the green eyes...

6 years ago, before Slade took over.....

Location: South border of the Himalayan mountains

A ten-year-old Adora had crossed the southern borders of the Himalayan mountains, running, running away from the Clairvoyant. Her suit was manifested to withstand the cold conditions, having a nice heat warmer invested in her suit. She kept walking, it was barely any sunlight to hit the snow-covered mountains, that were jagged around elsewhere. Whips of cold air mixed with air formed around her. Adora felt the presence of someone behind her, she slowly pulled out the stick that had a holographic sword and timed the footsteps, as it got closer she immediately formed the sword and stuck it at the boy's neck before he could, but five assassins in black surrounded her.

She observed the boy, his black hair, his clothes that made him look like a prince. His shoulder pads that had black and gold designs on it, his red scarlet cape, armoury that matched it, and finally those green eyes, those bold perfect emerald green eyes, the ones that Adora would someday know.

The young Damian was impressed by the reaction of the girl that looked by his age, a girl that had a faster reaction than him.

"Who are you?" he demanded, "I said who are you?"

"No one," Adora said

"Lies!" Damian shouted, "Seize her!"

But as if it was a second Adora managed to take all of the highly skilled five down. She first dodged quickly at the first one then kicked knocking him down. The second and third on came at her quick she went on the second one's knee and flipped kicking his chin and breaking his jaw and forward rolled and side kicked the third one slashing her sword at his waist and she kicked the body away. The fourth she just hit him on his shoulder blade hard and shattered his arm, then backflipping to dodge the last one's attack and sweeper his feet making his head hit a hard rock and knocking him out.

Damian got out his katana. He charged at her but Adora swiftly dodged it and put her sword behind his neck. "Stop," she said

"Never!" Damian growled and turned around and pounced on Adora making them both tumble down the mountain. As they landed on an edge the two kids remained unconscious, not knowing if they would wake up.

Adora's eyes slowly opened, the atmosphere around her grew darker and harsher. She sat up putting her hand on her head. Noises hallucinating, and nausea over blanketing her. As she slowly gained conscious the girl looked at her surroundings and saw the boy she had fought. She could leave him there but she thought it wouldn't be right. She sighed and looked around seeing a nearby cave in the distance. She dragged him to the cave and started a fire using very little wood she had left. He looked at the boy, she took off his cape and wrapped it around his body and wiped the snow off his face. The clothes that he wore were not enough to keep him warm from what they had undergone. She sat next to the boy and laid her head on his shoulder and watched the fire crackle next to them. She soon felt his muscles tense and she got up waiting for him to regain consciousness. The boy opened his Lazurus pit eyes and his vision slowly became clear. Once he saw Adora he immediately tensed and looked for his weapon which was across from him.

"Hey, hey, take it easy, we took a large fall before," she said in a settling voice

"Get the hell away from me!" he growled but she stood her ground knowing she had been through worse.

"Who are you?! I demand it!" Damian said

Adora just rolled her eyes.

"I don't have one," Adora lied

Damian studied her expression but her training was flawless so he actually believed the girl.

"your not an ordinary girl aren't you? Your clothes say otherwise," Damian said referring to her suit.

"Quite the detective aren't you?" Adora said.

"What have you done to me?" he said firmly

"Um, rescued you from the coldness or frostbite?" Adora said

Damian grumbled "I would have survived,"

"Yet you almost died in that clothing," Adora replied

"I climbed these very mountains when I was six," Damian fired back

"Please I went through much worse at that age," Adora said scavenging through her bag to find a granola bar from a town she passed by.

"Here," Adora tossed the bar at him "Eat it,"

"No," he said stubbornly

"Your gonna starve,"

"I'm fine,"

"Eat it," Adora commanded and Damian just annoyingly unwrapped the plastic.

"What about you?"

"What about me detective?" Adora asked

"Aren't you going to eat?" Damian asked

"I was trained to not eat for long periods of time, I'm fine," Adora said politely closing her bag "And besides that's the last of the food source I have,"

Damian stopped and looked at the girl who displayed randomly kindness to him. "When's the last time you've eaten?"

"A month," Adora said and Damian just sat there staring at the girl. A month? The average human can only survive a few days without food but a month?

Damian just looked at his granola bar and played with his thoughts going back and forth. He ripped of a piece and gave it to her.

"Eat it," Damian furrowed his eyebrows.

Adora just hesitated at the small piece but accepted it with a small smile. It was a few minutes of silence and Damian broke it:

"Why did you save me there?"

Adora looked to him "It wouldn't be honourable," she simply said

"I wouldn't have, I would have just killed you if I woke up first," he said

"Well what's done is done detective," Adora said finishing her piece

"In the morning we'll go separate ways," Damian said, usually he would just kill the person no matter who or what they've done but he somehow felt a different feeling towards the mysterious girl.

"Sure," she said and moved next to him and used her bag as a pillow. "Get some rest detective, don't try to kill me in my sleep, I will know," Her face was facing the opposite way of Damian.

He stared at the girl and finally rested, shivering from the coldness. Adora sensed the vibrations he was making and she turned around and hugged him, giving him warmth from her suit.

"Get off!" Damian growled

"Hush detective, I'm only doing this so you will stop shivering, it's annoying," Adora said.

At first, Damian didn't like it one bit but soon found comfort. The two fell asleep, not knowing that fate would guide them back to each other.

Adora slowly opened her eyes seeing Damian's back. She moved her arms as she sat up to which made Damian make a small groan from the moving heat. Adora rubbed her eyes and woke up Damian.

"Wake up detective," she said getting up and her things.

Damian slowly sat up as his katana was thrown to him. "Do you know where to go?" she asked

"Yeah," he said

"Good, see ya," she said and she began to leave but Damian quickly racef to her grabbing her wrist.

"Wait," he said and Adora turned around. "I-, Th-, th-, thank-," he struggled to say

Adora raised a brow "Thank you?" she said

"Yes, thank you, for um, last night," Damian said

"You're welcome," Adora shrugged

"And one more thing," Damian said

"Yeah?"

"Will- will I-, Will I see you again," he said with a strange hopeful feeling deep within him.

"Most likely not, but detective we just might," Adora smiled and went off.

Damian watched the young Adora walk off, not knowing her would ever see her again.

-

And so Damian, I hope you know that I love you. That I hope that you'll find happiness someday. And please remember that you are loved, more than you know it, not just by me but by everyone whether they admit it or not.

So, Damian, you are not only my love but my

My Detective, the one with the green eyes

So why detective? Well in the comics Talia actually calls Bruce Detective as a nickname so I thought why not?
