For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

in whom we have redemption [because of His sacrifice, resulting in] the forgiveness of our sins [and the cancellation of sins’ penalty].

Colossians 1:13-14

Jesus saved us from the dominion of darkness. He already conquered it and overcame it.

What does darkness mean in this context? ↓

📌 Dominion- the leading and more powerful among created beings superior to mankind, in context, demons

📌 Darkness- the principle of sin with its certain results

The wages of sin (living in sin) is death (eternal suffering)

The accompanying ungodliness and immorality, together with their consequent misery.

When placing our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross, we are transferred into His kingdom and are now considered God's children.

We are redeemed and forgiven of our sins and the consequences of it which is hell/the lake of fire (eternal consequences). These are places of punishment for evil.

⛓️ Hell wasn't made for us but it was made for the devil and his fallen angels as a place separated from God's presence. This is a place of torment for evil and rebellion against God; sin.

Demons are NOT our friends and they HATE us. There's not a single ounce of love and kindness in them. 😈

Sin is ultimately rebellion against God and means missing the mark of perfection and forfeit inheritance.

So when we place our faith in Jesus and His sacrifice aka God providing a way of safety through Himself, we're saved from all of that torment and punishment of sin.

How did Jesus overcome and conquer this? ↓

✨ He lived a perfect life as the image of the invisible God (being both 100% God and 100% human) and gave Himself to be crucified for all of our sins, He took the keys of Death and Hell(Hades) and restored our authority back to us, and He resurrected Himself from the dead so He's alive. 👑

He is the exact living image [the essential manifestation] of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible], the firstborn [the preeminent one, the sovereign, and the originator] of all creation.
