Lillian parked the van and slipped the keys into her pocket. "Ready for some fun in the sun?" She asked. "Yay! Fun with sand!!!" He chanted. Lillian pulled out the stroller, strapped him in, and but the sand toys in the bottom. Then she grabbed the raft and locked her van.
After setting Scott in the sand, Lillian folded up the stroller. "Do you want to play in the sand or go with mommy on the big green raft?" She asked him. "With mommy on green monster." He promptly answered. "It's a raft, not a monster silly!" Lillian laughed again. She set the raft in the water, then Scott on it. She pushed the raft in until it was three feet deep. Then Lillian hopped on and used her hands to paddle it out a bit deeper. Scott sat on her lap.
Lillian looked at her son, and smiled again. Maybe it was a giant mistake she had made. Maybe her pregnancy and labor had been difficult and painful, but it had been worth every minute of it. Every minute, he was worth every single minute of every single day. He was her drive through school, he would be what made her get up to go to work every day. Lillian wanted the best for him, no matter what it meant for her. As long as she could see him happy.
