chapter 4 - Abomination

Outfits in the external link

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", outside the Hale House, The man tried to walk forward. He couldn't, looking down. The creature's tail wrapped around his ankle, making him fall.

Ari: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"

From 2.02 "Shape Shifted", in the Lahey House's kitchen, The creature crawled across the roof, running away.

"What the hell was that?" Allison asked.

Scott looked forward in confusion. "I don't know."

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", in the ice rink, Lydia looked down at the petals of purple wolfsbane on the ice below her, gliding forward. She knelt next to the flower on the ice. Ari was still spinning behind her in the background.

Jackson: (voice over from 2.03 Ice Pick) "It's like you're immune."

Lydia looked down at the silhouette underneath the surface of the ice, rubbing the white powder away.

Peter Hale opened his eyes, his hands pressed to the glass, his mouth open in shock and horror, his head turning uncontrollably.

Lydia looked forward, tears in her eyes, screaming in fear.

From 2.02 "Shape Shifted", in the Preserve, Allison and Scott were together.

Allison shook her head. "They're not gonna split us apart."

Scott shook his head. "Not us."

Scott and Allison kissed sweetly.

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", outside of Boyd's House, Stacie started to get out of the Jeep, stopping when she heard a clank. She slowly walked toward the hood of the Jeep. "What the hell are you doing?"

Natalie was standing there, having a piece of the engine in her hand. She smiled a sweet-but-not-sweet smile. "Oh, hey, Stacie."

"You look better," Stacie told her cautiously.

"Not entirely healed, but will be soon," Natalie told her. "If you see me do anything I don't normally do, you know it's something I don't wanna do."

Natalie hit Stacie's head with the piece of the engine hard enough to make her fall unconscious.

"What the hell is your--?" Stiles started.

Natalie grabbed his head, pushing it against the brick house hard enough to make him fall unconscious.

Stacie and Stiles laid on the ground, unconscious.

Natalie looked down at them in guilt.

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", in the BHHS' hallway, Erica and Ari were talking.

"Three's not enough for Derek and Tara," Ari told her.

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", in the ice rink, Isaac, Eric, Natalie, Derek and Tara stood together.

Ari: (voice over from 2.03 Ice Pick) "I know they need at least four."

Boyd walked toward Scott and Ari.

Ari: (voice over from 2.03 Ice Pick) "So, who's next?"

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", in the BHHS' hallway, Erica walked toward Ari. "Why does there have to be a next when we've already got you and Scott?"

From 2.02 "Shape Shifted", in the Lahey House's basement, Scott, Tara and Derek were talking.

"We're not apart of your pack," Scott told them.

From 2.03 "Ice Pick", in the ice rink,  Isaac, Eric, Natalie, Derek and Tara stood together, looking at Scott and Ari.

"Tara's not having any decisions in these turnings whatsoever," Derek told them.

Tara shook her head expressively.

Derek started to walk forward.

Tara looked up. "Derek." Derek didn't listen, swinging his hand down, nails growing into claws. His eyes glowed red, his neck rolling as he started to shift, growling. "Derek!"

Derek continued to walk forward.

Tara looked away with annoyance and defeat, knowing she couldn't stop him.

Derek stood in front of Ari and Scott, slashing their stomachs, making both groan and lean over.

Derek smiled an evil smile. Scott held up his fists, trying to punch him. Derek caught his arm, punching Scott in his face once, twice, three times, four. Derek lifted Scott off the ice, pushing him down.

Scott spit up blood onto the ice, coughing.

Ari growled, stepping forward, raising her arm, spinning, hitting his back. Derek backed away, taking her arm, twisting it, breaking it, making her turn away, facing the ice, pushing her down.

Scott tried to stand. "No."

Derek placed his foot on his chest to stop him.

"Enough," Tara stressed. "You proved your point. Let it go." Derek didn't move. Tara looked at him angrily, her voice forceful. "Derek!"

Day One

Night - On the Road - Chris' Car

Chris was driving. He looked down the road coldly. He looked in the review mirror.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

On the Road

There was a car following behind him. They drove across a bridge.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills Animal Clinic - Backroom

Deaton hurriedly reached for a swab and a bandage, speaking to Scott. "They're coming back, so we don't have much time to talk."

"What is that?" Scott asked.

"Rubbing alcohol," Deaton answered. "You don't want it to get infected, do you?" Scott shook his head. Deaton hurriedly dressed the wound. "You will heal the same, just not as quickly, because of Derek. I'm guessing your friend Arielle had a run in with him as well?"

Scott nodded. After a moment, he shook his head. "Okay, how do you know all this? Actually, how--How do you know anything?"

"It's a longer story," Deaton told him. "What I can tell you, is that I know about your kind. Your kind? I can help." He looked at the man's body on the table with long slashes in his chest. "This. This is something different."

"Well, do you know what did it?" Scott asked.

Deaton shook his head. "No. But the Argents will. And this is the crucial part, they'll have a record or book. It'll have descriptions, histories, notations, of all the things that they've discovered."

"All the things?" Scott repeated. "How many different things are there?"

Deaton didn't get the chance to answer.

The bell rang.

Chris walked into the back of the clinic.

Scott was no longer in the room, hidden.

Deaton was working over Bennett's body. "I'm starting to think I need to buy a more prominent 'closed' sign."

Gerard walked in. "Hello, Alan. It's been a while. The last I heard, you had retired."

"Last I heard you followed a code of conduct," Deaton replied.

"If you hadn't noticed, this body is one of ours," Chris told him.

Scott was hiding behind a door, listening to their conversation.

"I did, and I also noticed the gunpowder residue on his finger tips," Deaton told him. "So don't assume I will be swayed by your philosophy just 'cause I'll answer a few questions."

"He was only 24," Chris told him.

Deaton tilted his head slightly. "Killers come in all ages."

Gerard nodded in agreement. "All ages, sizes, shapes. It's the last one that concerns us."

"How about you tell us what you found?" Chris asked.

Scott was still hidden by the door, listening.

Deaton lifted the man's head to show the cut on the back of his neck. "See this cut? Precise. Almost surgical. This isn't the wound that killed him. This had a more interesting purpose."

"Relating to the spine," Gerard stated.

Deaton nodded. "That's right. Whatever made this cut, it's laced with a paralytic toxin, potent enough to disable all motor functions." Scott was still hidden by the door, listening. Deaton gestured to the slashes in the body's chest. "These are the cause of death. Notice the patterns on each side."

"Five for each finger," Chris remarked.

"Each claw," Gerard corrected.

Deaton cupped his hands, pulling upward. "As you can see, it dug in, slashed upward, eviscerating the lungs and slicing through the bone of the rib cage with ease."

Scott was still hidden by the door, listening.

"Have you ever seen anything like this before?" Chris asked.

"No," Deaton told him.

"Any idea at all what killed him?" Chris asked.

Deaton shook his head. "No. But I can tell you it's fast, remarkably strong, and has the capacity to render its victims essentially helpless within seconds."

"If you're saying we should be cautious, we get it," Chris told him.

"I'm saying you should be afraid," Deaton told him. "Be very afraid." Scott was still hidden by the door, listening. "Because in the natural world, predators with paralytic toxins use them to catch and eat their prey. This prey wasn't eaten. That means whatever killed him only wanted to kill him. In fact, killing may be its only purpose."

Scott was still hidden by the door, listening.

Auto Repair Shop

A mechanic was working on the Jeep, drills starting.

Stacie stood a few feet away, drinking Coke from a bottle.

"Hey!" Stiles complained, walking closer. "Tanner? Wh--What do you think you're doing? All we needed was a starter."

"Yeah, but it looks like your whole exhaust system has got to be replaced here," Tanner told him.

"Why do I get the feeling you're slightly over-estimating the damage?" Stacie asked.

"It's probably gonna run you around like twelve hundred parts and labor," Tanner told them.

"Are you kidding?" Stiles asked.

"This thing doesn't even have a catalytic converter," Stacie told them. Stiles and Tanner looked toward her in surprise. Stacie raised her hands in the air mockingly. "And, yes, a 16 year old girl knows what a catalytic converter is." She put one of her hands down back at her side, lifting the bottle to her lips, her next words low enough they didn't hear her. "Sexist asshole."

Stacie took a sip as soon as the words left her mouth.

Tanner lowered the drill, looking at Stacie. "Do you know what a limited slip differential is?"

Stacie lowered the Coke bottle. "Well... No."

Tanner nodded, raising the drill. "Yeah, coming on more like fifteen hundred."

Stiles opened his mouth to argue.

Stacie cut him off. "Okay. Just finish. I'll be back here."

Stacie turned around, walking toward the office door.

"Seething with impotent rage," Stiles muttered.

There was a transparent liquid on the door handle.

Stacie touched the handle without realizing it, pulling back, looking down. "Oh. Nice. It's real sanitary." She turned her head back toward Tanner. "Quality establishment you're running here."

Stacie wiped the substance on something nearby.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Office

Stiles opened the door, touching the substance, walking inside, wiping it on his red hoodie.

Stacie walked in, closing the door.

Stiles looked at a picture on the wall of Tanner when he was younger, in a lacrosse uniform for Beacon Hills High School. "Figures."

Stacie pulled out her phone from her hoodie pocket next to the door, texting Ari.

Stiles walked to the window wall, looking at Stacie. "Who're you texting, Stacie?"

"Ari," Stacie answered, sighing, still looking at the screen as she started to type. "On how I'm gonna kill one of Derek's new Betas."

"Which one?" Stiles asked.

Stacie looked toward him. "The one that used to be an epileptic loner."

"Erica?" Stiles asked.

"No, the one that knocked me out with a catalytic converter and smashed your head against a brick wall," Stacie told him. "The one who used to be one of our best friends and nearly got killed with a car door. Natalie, dumb ass."

"How are you doing with Natalie?" Stiles asked.

Stacie looked forward, shaking her head, gazing off, still texting. "Natalie might have hurt us, but I can't get something she had said right before out of my head."

"What's that?" Stiles asked.

"'If you see me do anything I don't normally do, you know it's something I don't wanna do'," Stacie answered. "She looked guilty."

"So you think someone told Natalie to do that?" Stiles asked.

Stacie nodded. "Why else would Natalie do it?"

Stacie was still texting. Her fingers slowed to a stop, unable to move. She looked down in confusion, trying to move them. She couldn't. Her hands went limp, making her drop her phone.

"Stacie?" Stiles asked, looking toward her. "Stacie." The creature, outside the window, crawled toward Tanner. "No." Tanner lowered the drill, circling around. "Hey. Hey!"

"Stiles, I can't move," Stacie told him, no longer being able to stand, falling to the floor.

"Stacie!" Stiles told her worriedly, no longer being able to stand, falling to the floor.

Stacie and Stiles laid on the floor, helpless.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

The creature sliced the back of Tanner's neck with its claws.

Tanner turned around in confusion, holding the back of his neck. He could no longer stand, falling to the floor.

The creature slashed a wire to lower the platform holding the Jeep above him, making it lower toward him.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Office

Stacie looked out of the glass door, watching the platform lower toward Tanner, trying to reach for her phone, dialing the first number. 9. 1. 1.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

The platform was still lowering.

"Help me," Tanner called. "Help me. Help! Help. Help me. Help me. Help me. Help me."

Office

Stacie closed her eyes so she wouldn't have to see Tanner's death.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

Tanner closed his eyes so he wouldn't have to see death come.

The platform banged onto Tanner and the floor, killing him.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Office

Stacie opened her eyes.

The creature stood on the other side of the glass door in front of Stacie, looking at her with recognition in its eyes, screeching.

Stacie was afraid but trying to control it.

The creature disappeared.

The dial tone on Stacie's phone rang.

Operator: (on phone) "911, what's your emergency?"

Stacie looked too scared to react.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Scott looked up. He blinked. When he opened his eyes, they were glowing gold.

Scott stood shirtless, facing the left, his eyes closed, water sprinkles everywhere. Tyler Posey.

Jackson, in his uniform, pushed into his back forcefully.

Allison kissed Scott sweetly, pulling back. Scott backed out of view. Allison pulled up her bow, her face echoing, releasing the bow. Crystal Reed.

Stiles stood next to his Jeep, walking forward. Dylan O'Brien

Stacie looked up, facing the right, a slow smile spreading across her face, in the track pose, her face echoing. She ran forward. Zoey Deutch

Ari stood still, looking to the left, her eyes glowing blue, water sprinkles everywhere, holding her motorcycle helmet in her hand, looking up. Katherine McNamara.

Tara stood with her back toward you, looking over her shoulder, black blood covering her skin, her body reflecting each other. Victoria Justice.

Derek looked up, shirtless, his eyes closed, shifted, roaring, dust falling off of his body. Tyler Hoechlin.

Lydia's hair covered her face, her hands held in front of her. She tossed her head back to get it to fall behind her head. Holland Roden

Tara's reflecting body was still covered in black blood.

Lydia sat with Jackson, holding his arm.

Jackson, in uniform, jumped into the air, throwing the ball forward. Colton Haynes

Tara was still covered in black blood. She wiped the black blood over her stomach away, clawing the design into it.

Scott's eyes glowed gold as he stared ahead, tilting his head down toward his chest.

Argent House - Outside

Allison walked outside of the house, into the driveway, toward her car.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Allison's Car

Allison got into her car. She exhaled on the window, revealing a message written onto the window.

9 pm.

Allison looked at the time on the dashboard.

 8:55

Gerard stood outside her window.

Allison jumped, gasping.

Gerard smiled a small smile, opening her car door for her. "I didn't mean to scare you."

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

 Outside

Allison got out, closing the door behind her, turning away.. "It's okay, I was just..."

"Are you expecting someone else?" Gerard asked, turning away from her.

"Yeah," Allison answered, making her correct herself. "I mean, no. No, definitely not."

Gerard smirked. "Good." He turned to face her. "Then we can talk for a minute."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills Preserve

Scott sat alone on a rock on the beacon of Beacon Hills, alone in the dark. He sighed, looking at the time on his phone.

 9:00.

Scott looked up, turning his head to the side, waiting for Allison.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Argent House - Outside

Gerard and Allison were talking.

Gerard rummaged through his  jacket pocket, making an old book bound in leather fall to the ground. "Oh." Allison smiled, picking it up, handing it to him. "Thanks. Don't want to drop that." Gerard shook his head, putting it back into his pocket. "I'd be lost without it." He took out a container of pills, pouring two in his hand. "When I was your age, I didn't even take vitamins. Now I'm choking down a cocktail of pills 3 times a day." He put the pills in his mouth, swallowing. Allison smiled, looking down. "But, I do what my doctor tells me, because I trust him. Trust is a commodity our family holds very high, you know?" Allison reluctantly looked at him. "And my daughter, well, your aunt Kate died doing what she thought was right." Allison gave him a curious look. "Her intentions may have been a bit misguided--"

"A bit?" Allison asked.

Gerard smiled. "I like that. Oh, you remind me of her. She challenged me, too."

"Is that what you want me to do?" Allison asked. "Challenge you?"

"I want you to trust me," Gerard answered. "You're gonna find yourself put in the position where you question the trust of people close to you. Even your closest friends. And when that happens, you have to know the trust you'd never question is family. Can I trust you, Allison?"

Allison nodded reluctantly. "Yeah."

"Not 'yeah'," Gerard told her forcefully. "Speak with conviction. Yes or no?"

Allison looked up. "Yes. You can trust me."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Auto Repair Shop - Outside

The store was now a crime scene with police caution tape and an ambulance.

Stiles, Sheriff and Stacie sat in the back of an ambulance.

"We told you," Stiles told him. "We just walked in and saw the Jeep on top of the guy, that's all."

Stacie looked at her hand, flexing it.

Sheriff noticed. "What's wrong with your hand?"

Stacie shook it out. "Nothing. Can we just get out of here now?"

"Look, if there's something you don't think you can tell me--" Sheriff started.

"You think we're lying?" Stiles asked.

"No, of course not," Sheriff told them. "I'm just worried about you guys. Now, if you saw someone do this, if you're afraid that maybe they're gonna come back and make sure you don't say anything about it--"

"We didn't see anything," Stacie told him. "At all."

"Can we go now, please?" Stiles asked.

"Sure," Sheriff answered. "But not in your Jeep. We're gonna have to impound it." Stiles raised his hands, starting to argue. Sheriff cut him off. "Sorry, kid. Evidence. I'll see you guys at home."

Stacie exhaled.

"All right, well, at least make sure they wash it," Stiles told him. Sheriff walked away. Stacie tilted her head with a look as if to say, Of course that's what you're worried about. Stiles looked at her. "What?"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Beacon Hills Preserve

Allison ran further into the woods. "Scott?"

Scott was no longer there.

Allison sighed, looking around. She saw the carved message on the rock Scott had been sitting on.

Couldn't wait. Missed you.

Allison sighed, kneeling next to the rock, rubbing the dirt and grind away from it, running a hand through her hair. She looked up in disappointment.

Stiles and Stacie walked toward Scott's car.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Scott's Car

Scott was in the driver's seat.

Ari was in the passenger seat.

Stiles and Stacie got into the backseat.

"You guys okay?" Ari asked.

"Yeah," Stacie answered.

Stiles looked at Scott. "You were right. It's not like you."

Stacie shook her head. "I mean, its eyes were almost reptilian. But there was something about them."

"What do you mean?" Ari asked.

They all turned to look at Stacie.

"You know when you see, like, a friend in a Halloween mask, but all you can actually see are their eyes, and you feel like you know them, but you just can't figure out who it is?" Stacie asked.

"Are you saying you know who it is?" Stiles asked.

"No," Stacie answered. She sighed, looking at all of them. "But I think it knew me."

Day Two

Morning - Underground Hideout

(Song:) Evilution - Datsik & Infected Mushroom

Isaac looked up, taking in a deep breath, running forward, jumping, flipping over an obstacle in front of him. He continued to run forward. He jumped over another, going to a pillar in front of Derek, putting both feet on to jump straight toward Derek.

Derek merely put his hand on Isaac's chest throwing him to the floor.

Derek merely put his hand on Isaac's chest throwing him to the floor.

Natalie was on the wall behind Derek, trying to catch him off guard, jumping toward him.

Derek turned around, catching her, throwing her onto the floor next to Isaac.

Derek sighed an annoyed sigh. "Does anyone wanna try not being completely predictable?" Erica threw herself onto Derek, her legs wrapping around his waist, her hands around his head and in his hair, kissing him hungrily. Boyd sat on the stairs, watching them. Derek took her legs off of him,  throwing her down next to Natalie and Isaac. "That is the last time you do that."

Boyd stood from the stairs, going to stand behind Isaac, Natalie and Erica.

"Why?" Erica asked. "'Cause I'm a Beta?"

"No," Derek answered. "It's because I have someone else in mind for you." He pointed at Isaac. "Goes for you too."

Tara sat in a chair next to the subway cart, an annoyed and skeptically look on her face. "Are you serious right now?" She stood, walking forward. "With these kids?" Isaac, Natalie, Erica and Boyd looked at Tara with hurt expressions. Tara looked at them. "Sorry." She looked at Derek. "But the last I checked, I'm younger than most of them, and I can fight better than they can, I am stronger than they are, and I know how to survive without getting myself killed. And in case you've forgotten, anything less will not only get us both killed, but them too."

Natalie looked at Tara. "Derek..." She looked at Derek. "Aren't you gonna say something?"

Tara looked over to Derek, crossing her arms over her chest, waiting for Derek to contradict her.

"Yeah," Derek answered. "Tara's right."

Tara gave him a surprised look.

Natalie made a face as if to say, oh.

"Well, okay, then," Isaac told them. "Are we done now? I've got a hundred bones that need a few hours to heal."

Tara looked to Derek with an even more annoyed and exasperated expression.

Derek gestured with for her to do whatever she wanted to do.

Tara smirked, walking closer to Isaac, giving him a sympathetic expression, kneeling down next to him. She took his arm. "Okay?" She twisted his arm, turning so hard she broke the bone, making Isaac turn away from her with a scream, leaning his head back against her knee. "Hundred and one."

"You think we're teaching you how to fight?" Derek asked. "Huh? Look at me!" Tara turned Isaac's head toward Derek, looking at Boyd, Erica and Natalie with slightly raised eyebrows, challenging them to react. Natalie glared at Tara. Erica and Boyd looked at Derek. "We're teaching you how to survive."

Tara let Isaac go, tossing his hand to the floor, standing, walking past Derek, turning to face the others.

Natalie and Isaac glared at Tara. They glared at Derek.

"If they wanted us dead, why aren't they coming now?" Natalie asked. "What are they waiting for?"

"I don't know," Derek told her. "But they're planning something. And you especially know that's not our only problem, Natalie." Natalie sighed, knowing he was right. "Whatever that thing was that killed Isaac and Natalie's father and nearly killed Natalie, I think it killed someone else last night. And until I find out what it is, you all need to learn everything that I know. As fast as I can teach you."

"Why doesn't Tara help with the learning process?" Natalie asked bitterly.

Tara turned toward Natalie to give her a look, raising her eyebrows as if to ask, oh, really?

Natalie looked at Tara levelly.

Tara took a breath, relaxing, nodding, tilting her head. "You want me to teach you too? Fine. Get up, Natalie."

"What?" Natalie asked.

"Get up," Tara repeated. "You're almost completely healed, you can do the things that you want to do so badly now." Natalie looked from Tara to Isaac, as if to ask what she should do. "Now, Natalie."

Derek sighed, watching them, leaning against a beam.

Natalie slowly stood from the floor, standing in front of Tara. "What do you want me to do, Tara?"

"Fight," Tara answered simply, standing in front of Natalie. "Make the first move."

Natalie took a deep breath. "Okay, Tara."

Natalie spun to try to kick Tara. Tara ducked in a crouch underneath with one arm on the floor, one knee bent and the other straight. Natalie turned to make another move. Tara pivoted around, never moving her feet, standing straight. Natalie tried to kick her. Tara caught it, pushing it around so hard that Natalie twirled through the air before landing on the floor next to Boyd, Isaac and Erica.

Boyd, Isaac and Erica watched in stunned silence.

Natalie slowly sat up.

Tara slowly stood. "I think that's enough of the school lessons for today, Natalie."

Derek was amused.

Tara turned around, walking past Derek, walking into the subway cart, sliding the door closed behind her.

Lydia's House - Lydia's Room

Ms. Martin, her mother, knocked on the door to her room. "Time to get up."

Lydia was hidden underneath her blanket. "Go away."

Ms. Martin walked closer to her. "You're going to be late for your appointment with the school counselor. Remember, we have a deal."

"Remember, I told you I was fine," Lydia told her.

"Lydia, please," Ms. Martin told her, pulling at the blanket. The blanket was covered in her blood. "What did you do?" She took Lydia's bloody hands, the blood covering her knuckles. Her mother sat next to her in horror. "Oh, my God, what did you do to yourself?" They both looked toward Lydia's circular, shattered mirror, blood covering the impact point. "Lydia, sweetheart. Why did you do that?" Lydia didn't answer looking at the mirror in numb denial and confusion. "Lydia."

Beacon Hills High School - Counselor's Waiting Room

(Song:) Sweet Chariot - Jordan Klassen

A teenage boy and Lydia were sitting together in the chairs outside of the counselor's office.

The boy looked at the pink gloves covering Lydia's hands. "Nice gloves."

Lydia smiled, looking at him. "Thank you."

"So, what's your brand of psychosis?" the boy asked.

Lydia gave him a skeptical look. "Really?"

"We're both here for something," the boy pointed out. "We don't have to be ashamed of it."

Lydia narrowed her eyes at him. "I have an acute phobia of people prying into my personal life. You?"

The boy smiled. "Compulsively drawn to cute but narcissistic girls."

(Song Ends)

The guidance counselor stood at her office door. "Are you ready, Lydia?"

Lydia looked at the boy, standing, following the counselor into her office.

Hallway

(Song:) A Thousand Parasailors - Jordan Klassen

Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie were sitting together on the steps next to the wall of windows.

Stiles was looking at Scott. "I'm so sorry about the other day. I'm trying. We'll get through this. Uh, I know this because I love you. I love you more than--Oh, my God. I can't. You and Allison just have to find a better way to communicate. Why can't Ari do it?"

"Same reason Scott can't," Ari answered. "Argent doesn't want Allison around any Werewolves."

"Actually, Allison told me that her dad told her that she could only have limited contact with you last week," Stacie told her.

"And Stacie, the information consumer, knows something that we don't," Stiles told them. "Again." He looked at Stacie. "I mean, Stacie's no genius like Ari, but if it comes to us needing to find out about the latest news..."

"Come on, you're the only ones that we can trust," Scott told them. "Is she coming to the game tonight?"

"Yes!" Stiles answered. "Okay, message complete. Now, tell me about your boss."

"He thinks that Allison's family keeps some kind of, uh, records of all the things that they've hunted," Scott answered. "Like a book."

"He probably means a bestiary," Ari told them, clapping her hands once.

"What?" Scott asked, looking at her.

"A bestiary," Ari answered.

Scott laughed. "I think you mean bestiality."

"Nope, pretty sure I don't," Ari told them. "It's like an encyclopedia of mythical creatures."

"How do you always know about this stuff?" Stacie asked.

"You know who you're talking to, right?" Ari asked.

They considered this, nodding.

"Okay," Scott told them. "When we find it..."

"If we can find it," Ari corrected.

"It can tell us what it is," Stacie told them.

"And who," Stiles added.

Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie spoke together. "We need that book."

Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie looked at each other weirdly.

Stacie and Ari stood, walking through the middle of Stiles and Scott.

Stiles and Scott stood, turning around, walking up the stairs, the opposite way to their classes.

Guidance Office

The guidance counselor was sitting at her desk.

Lydia was sitting across from her. She looked at the counselor's name template.

Ms. Morrell.

Lydia looked at Ms. Morrell. "You're not even French, are you?"

Ms. Morrell looked up. "French Canadian."

"Which means you're a Canadian," Lydia told her. "Who speaks French. And seeing as I'm placing my mental health in your hands, how about you tell me what, as a French teacher, qualifies you to be a guidance counselor?"

Ms. Morrell folded her hands together over the desk. "I have a masters in behavioral psychology and have done over three hundred hours of field work."

"Hmm," Lydia hummed. "C'est va bien [It's okay.]"

"If you're really fine, what are you doing here?" Ms. Morrell asked.

"Appeasing my parents, so they don't take away my car keys," Lydia answered.

"Have you talked to your friends about what happened to you?" Ms. Morrell asked. "Or to your..." She checked Lydia's file. "Cousin, Arielle?"

Lydia nodded. "Yeah, they're great. Totally supportive."

"Do you trust them?" Ms. Morrell asked.

Lydia gave her an innocent look. "Implicitly."

Ms. Morrell nodded. "Good. But, still be cautious."

"Why?" Lydia asked. "Because sometimes the people closest to you can be the ones holding you back the most?"

Out in the hall, the boy Lydia had been talking to looked up.

Ms. Morrell looked up. "Indeed. Did you read that somewhere?"

Lydia took a second to answer. "I don't know. Maybe I heard it."

Ms. Morrell looked down. "Well, sounds like whoever said it left an impression."

Boys' Locker Room

Jackson and Danny were talking.

Jackson looked at Danny, handing him his video. "I need to see if you can brighten the resolution on this."

Danny took the video. "Sure."

"Whatever you find, you need to keep it to yourself," Jackson told him. "Got it?"

"What's on it?" Danny asked.

"It's just me in my room, in bed," Jackson answered.

"I'm supposed to watch you in bed?" Danny asked. "You remember all of the times I told you, you're not my type?"

Jackson gave him a sarcastic look. "Just do it. Oh, and, uh, FYI, I'm everyone's type."

Jackson adjusted the bag on his shoulder, walking away.

Outside

(Song:) A Beautiful Mystery

Allison was sitting at a table.

Stacie was standing in front of her.

Allison smiled, covering her hand with her mouth. "I think you mean--"

"No, I mean bestiary," Stacie told her in annoyance. She pointed at her. "And the three of you, I don't want to know what's going on in your heads."

"Okay, um..." Allison trailed off. "Can you describe this thing?"

"Uh, it's probably like a book," Stacie answered. "Old, worn."

"Like, bound in leather?" Allison asked.

Stacie tilted her head.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Inside - Hallway

Stacie ran toward Stiles. "Yes, seen her grandfather with a book like that."

"I'll tell Scott," Stiles told her, turning around, running down the hall.  "Scott!"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Stacie ran toward Allison, down the stairs, leaning against the table she was sitting at, slightly breathless. "Where does he keep it?"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Inside - Hallway

Scott was at his locker, closing the door.

Stiles ran toward Scott. "She says. Has to be. Office."

Stiles breathed heavily, his mouth open in pain, gasping, taking a puff of an inhaler.

Outside

Stacie stood with Allison, her hands on her knees. "You know, drug dealers have been using disposable cellphones pretty successfully for years."

"My parents check every call, email and text message I send," Allison told her. "Trust me, they'd find it."

Stacie took a deep breath, standing. "Oh, my God, I'm so glad to be in two running sports as of right now or I would be dead on the ground, right in front of you." Allison smiled, looking down. "All right, can you get the book?"

Allison looked up. "Not without his keys."

Inside - Hallway

Gerard locked the principal's office door, putting the keys into his pocket, turning to face Allison. "I need to warn you, by the way, you might need to be a little patient with me."

"How come?" Allison asked.

Gerard took her arm, leading them forward. "I'll probably have a lot of questions seeing as I've never actually seen a lacrosse game before."

Night - Lacrosse Field

The team was in uniform for the game.

Matt and Danny walked toward Jackson sitting on the bench, having Danny's tablet with Jackson's video on it.

Jackson looked between them in confusion, standing up in anger. "What the hell is this?" He looked at Danny. "Dude, I thought I could trust you."

"Relax," Matt told him. "It's my camera, okay? He just needed to ask me some questions."

"Matt's the one who found it anyway," Danny told him.

"Found what?" Jackson asked.

Danny played the video.

Jackson's hand suddenly went from the bed to on his stomach.

Matt pointed at it. "There."

"There what?" Jackson asked.

"It's an edit point," Danny answered. "It's been looped. Two hours worth."

"What does that mean?" Jackson asked.

"That means there's two hours of footage," Matt answered. "Missing."

Jackson started to angrily realize.

Bleachers

(Song:) There and Back - Wolfgang Gartner

The game had started.

Stacie and Ari were sitting together on the bleachers.

"Do you think they'd do a girl lacrosse team?" Stacie asked, looking at Ari.

"I doubt it, Stace," Ari told her.

Stacie looked on the field. "Me too."

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Field

A giant teenager on the opposing team made a Beacon fall to the ground.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bleachers

Stacie flinched. "That'll leave a bruise."

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bench

Coach was standing behind the bench, where Stiles was sitting. "Come on!" He went to sit down next to Stiles. "Who or what is that genetic experiment gone wrong?"

"Eddie Abramovitz, Coach," Stiles answered. "They call him the Abomination."

"Oh, that's cute," Coach told him.

Stiles nodded.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Field

Jackson walked up to Scott angrily. "McCall, what the hell are you waiting for? This is the semi-finals. Bring that 'roid-head into the ground."

"Me?" Scott asked. "You're the one who said that I was a cheater."

"And that freak of nature being on the field is fair?" Jackson replied. "Do something!"

"I can't," Scott told him. "Not while Allison's grandfather is here."

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bleachers

Gerard and Allison sat together.

Allison held her jacket tighter. "I knew I should have brought a warmer jacket."

"You're cold?" Gerard asked. "Here." He stood, taking off his jacket. "Take my coat."

Allison stood. "Are you sure?"

"Oh, yeah," Gerard answered, helping her put it on, sitting down.

Allison sat down. "Thanks."

Allison reached into the pocket closest to Gerard.

Nothing was there.

Allison reached into the pocket closest to the bleacher railing, slowly taking out the keys without a sound.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Field

The Abomination tackled another player to the ground, making the groan in pain.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bleachers

Gerard looked from the field to Allison. "Good God, is it always this violent?"

Allison held the keys out to the side of the bleachers.

Stiles snuck past, looking around unsteadily, taking the keys and walking away.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Field

The medics used the flat board to carry the player away.

"I can't feel my legs," the player told them, groaning.

The medics took him away.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bleachers

Melissa sat alone on the bleachers, looking worried.

Matt stood next to her with his camera. "He belong to you?"

"No, mine is still on the field," Melissa answered. "While I'm here really wishing that he would've stuck with tennis." She looked at the camera in his hands. "You the year book photographer?"

"No, I, uh, I just take pictures," Matt answered.

"Just lacrosse, or other things?" Melissa asked.

"Anything that catches my eye," Matt answered.

Matt looked down at the screen, looking at the pictures of Allison sitting on the bleachers. He scrolled through the bleachers, revealing pictures of Stacie and Ari on the bleachers together. He scrolled over one more, revealing a picture of Stacie at the cemetery kneeling behind the statue, but Scott and Stiles had been cut out of the picture.

The whistle blew.

Matt walked away.

Parking Lot

Stiles ran past the parked cars and the bus.

Lydia was in her car, crying.

Stiles walked toward her. "Hey, Lydia, what's wrong?" Lydia rolled up her window. "Lydia, come on."

"Just go away," Lydia told him.

 "What's wrong?" Stiles asked.

"Look, I don't need anyone seeing my cry," Lydia told him.

"Ah, come on, Lydia," Stiles told him. "Look, you shouldn't care if people see you cry, all right? Especially you."

"Why?" Lydia asked.

"Because I think you look really beautiful when you cry," Stiles answered.

Lydia tilted her head, unrolling her window.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Lacrosse Field - Bench

Coach stood next to Danny.

Danny held his head in pain.

Coach held up two fingers. "How many fingers am I holding up?"

Danny blinked. "Four."

 "Say two," Coach whispered.

 "Two," Danny told him.

Coach smiled. "Perfect. Get out there. Come on." Danny stood. Coach gave him a lacrosse stick. "Get out there and have a stick."

Danny walked out to the field.

"We're still short one player, Coach," a player told him.

(Song:) There Will Be Blood - Barbouze

Coach looked around. "Where's Stilinski? Where's Stilinski?"

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Bleachers

Stacie looked at Ari. "Oh, man. He's willing to let Stiles play, and he's off looking for the supernatural cook book... Oh, my God, he's gonna kill me."

Ari shrugged. "He'd have a tough time doing it."

"Oh, yeah, that's right," Stacie told her slyly. "I've got my Kim Possible body guard."

"Would you stop calling me that?" Ari asked, amused.

"Aw, what's a best friend for?" Stacie asked. "Unless you want me to go back to calling you Ariel the mermaid."

Ari smiled. "No, thanks, Stace."

"Okay, then," Stacie told her, chuckling.

Ari smiled, rolling her eyes.

Coach pointed behind them. "You. You! You play lacrosse?"

Stacie and Ari followed his gaze to Boyd and Erica.

Boyd started to stand.

Erica stopped him. "Uh-uh. Derek and Tara won't like this."

"Yeah," Boyd agreed. "But I will."

Boyd stood, shrugging out of his jacket.

Coach smiled. "Oh, oh, oh, ha, ha, ha, we've got ourselves a player!"

Stacie looked at Ari. "Damn, he's gonna get you, him and Scott discovered by Grandpa Argent out on the field."

Boyd walked past them.

"Not if I can help it," Ari told her.

Stacie smiled. "Still remind me of Kim Possible."

"Stop it, Stacie," Ari sang.

Stacie giggled. "Say it, Ari. Once."

"Say what?" Ari asked.

"You know what," Stacie told her. "She picks up the phone and..."

Stacie put her hand with the three middle fingers folded in and her thumb next to her ear, her little finger extended to her mouth to mimic a phone.

"I'm not saying it, Stace," Ari told her, suppressing in a chuckle, shaking her head with a smile.

"Say it," Stacie begged teasingly.

Ari shook her head. "No."

Stacie nodded. "Yes."

"Nope," Ari told her, popping the 'P'.

"Yep," Stacie told her, popping the 'P'. "Consider it Opposite Day."

"You're not gonna stop until I give in, are you?" Ari asked.

Stacie smiled, shaking her head. "Nope."

Stacie gave her a begging look, bouncing in her seat.

Ari looked up, rolling her eyes, tilting her head, giving in, amused. "What's the sitch?"

Stacie smiled, cheering, applauding. "Yay!" She hugged Ari. "Bestest friend in the whole world, KP."

Ari smiled, rolling her eyes, shaking her head.

(Song:) Chit Chat Hannah Georgas

Lydia was in her car.

Stiles was standing outside of her door.

Lydia looked at Stiles. "You're gonna think I'm crazy."

"Lydia, if you trust me on anything, you can trust me on this," Stiles told her. "There's nothing that you can say to me that'll make you sound crazy. Literally, nothing!" He looked away to the keys, to the school. "Can you just give me five minutes?" Lydia looked away in annoyance. "I know, I'm sorry. Just, but, just stay here, continue crying." Lydia gave him a look. "Or not crying if you want, or whatever works for you, um, but just stay here, and I will be right back, and then we can talk. About anything. Yeah?" Lydia nodded. "Okay, just five minutes."

Stiles ran away.

Inside - Principal's Office

The door was hanging wide open, the keys in the door handle.

Stiles was looking through every drawer, every stack of paper there was. "Book, book, book." He gave up, texting on his phone. "'Nothing. Here.'" He looked up. Tara was standing in the doorway, leaning against the frame. Stiles jumped when he saw her. "Oh, my God. Tara."

Tara pushed away from the doorway. "Hello, Stiles." She walked closer, looking at his phone. "Are you texting Stacie?" Stiles nodded meekly. "Can I give Stacie a message?"

Tara took the phone from him without waiting for an answer, adding her own twist to the text.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Lacrosse Field

Boyd knocked the Abomination down.

Coach jumped up excitedly. "The bigger they are... the bigger they are!"

Boyd turned away from the rest, taking off his helmet, raising it in the air, his eyes glowing gold.

Bleachers

Stacie's phone buzzed. She looked down at the text from Stiles/Tara.

Nothing here. Help me.

"Find the damn thing," Stacie finished, looking up to Ari. "He sucks at investigatory crap. Me, however, I am like Nancy Drew."

"Okay, Stace," Ari told her.

Stacie stood, walking down the bleachers, toward the school.

Ari looked toward Gerard and Allison.

Allison looked back at Ari, shrugging, wondering what was happening.

Ari mouthed the word clearly for Allison to read. 'Later.'

Allison nodded, looking away toward the field.

Ari sighed, walking toward the field.

Gerard looked at Allison. He looked toward Ari.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Hallway

Tara was waiting in the hallway, leaning against the a locker.

Stacie walked in, stopping when she saw Tara. "Uh, hi, Tara."

"Hi, Stacie," Tara told her, pushing away from the locker. "I see you got my message."

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Pool Room

Tara led Stacie into the room, walking past Stiles to stand next to Derek.

Stacie stopped next to Stiles. "Derek."

"Stacie," Derek replied. "What did you two see in the mechanic's garage?"

"Uh, several alarming EPA violations that I'm seriously considering reporting," Stacie told them, pressing her lips together, nodding.

Derek smirked at her cute remark. "Let's try that again."

Lacrosse Field

(Song:) Moves - Gold Fields

Boyd's eyes were glowing gold.

Scott ran up to him. "You gotta get off the field. Your eyes. Someone is gonna see you."

Boyd growled, running for the goal.

Coach jumped from the sidelines. "Get it to McCall! Get it to McCall!"

Scott picked it up from the ground, throwing it right into the goal.

Everyone cheered.

The Abomination rammed into Scott, making him fall to the ground, breaking his leg.

(Song Ends)

Melissa gasped, standing, her hands over her mouth in shock. "Oh, my God."

Ari ran down the bleachers and across the field and to him.

Allison followed her, kneeling next to him. "Scott. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I'm healing," Scott told her. Ari knelt next to Allison. "It's okay. The book?"

"It's not in his office," Ari answered. "Stiles texted Stacie for help to look for it."

"It's gotta be at the house," Allison told him. "Let's look at your leg. Oh, my God, your leg is broken."

"Not for long," Ari told them. Scott sat up. Ari nodded to Allison. "Help me."

Allison nodded.

Ari and Allison took either of Scott's arms, pulling them over their shoulders, helping him stand.

Coach and Melissa ran closer.

"Don't move," Coach told him.

"Scott," Melissa told him.

"It's okay," Scott told them. "It's okay. I'm fine." He laughed once. "I'm fine."

"I could have sworn I literally heard bone breaking from where I sat," Melissa told them.

"Heard it?" Coach repeated. "I felt it."

"Seriously, guys," Scott told them. Ari looked over the crowd, letting go of Scott, stepping away. She saw Danny, Jackson, a lot of other members from the team, Melissa, Coach, and Gerard.  "I'm--I'm fine."

Allison let go of Scott, walking closer to Gerard. "We should go."

"Hold on," Gerard told her. "I want to ask him one more thing."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Pool Room

Tara and Derek were still looking at Stiles and Stacie.

"All right, the thing was slick looking," Stiles told them.

Derek looked at Stacie.

Stacie sighed an annoyed sigh. "Um, skin was dark. Kind of patterned. Uh, I think I actually saw scales."

"Is that enough?" Stiles asked. "Okay, because I've somebody I really need to talk to." Tara and Derek didn't answer. Tara crossed her arms over her chest. Derek looked up. "Stacie saw the thing better than I did." Stacie gave Stiles a what the hell are you doing? look. "It literally got in her face."

Derek looked at Stacie in surprise.

Stacie looked at Tara and Derek.

Tara raised her eyebrows, waiting for an answer. "Stacie?"

Stacie gave in, growling under her breath. "All right, fine, Tara. Eyes are, um, yellowish. And slitted. Um, has a lot of teeth. Oh, and it's got a tail, too. Are we good?"

Tara and Derek looked up, above their heads.

"What?" Stiles asked. "Wait, have you seen it? You have this look on your faces like you know exactly what we're talking about."

Stacie turned around, looking up in the direction they were looking in. She hit Stiles on the back.

Stiles turned around, following her gaze.

The creature looked down on them, screeching.

Stiles and Stacie instantly backed away, standing on either side of Tara and Derek, with Stiles next to Tara, and Stacie next to Derek.

The creature jumped down.

Tara let her eyes glow blue, growling, starting to circle around the creature.

Derek turned to Stiles and Stacie, guiding Stacie toward Stiles for them to get to safety. "Run!"

Tara ran toward the creature. The creature jumped over her head, behind her, lashing out at Derek, slashing his neck.

Derek turned toward the creature, his hand on the back of his neck.

"Derek, your neck," Stacie told him. Derek could no longer stand, starting to fall to the floor. Stacie ran forward, catching him in her arms before he could fall. "Hey, come on."

Stacie put one of Derek's arms over her shoulders.

Stiles put Derek's other arm over his shoulders.

Tara never looked away from the creature. "Go!"

"Tara, it's gonna do the same thing to you," Stacie told her.

"Run!" Tara growled.

Stacie, Derek and Stiles started to back away.

The creature looked at Tara, hissing. Tara growled, running forward. The creature tried to wrap its tail around her. Tara flipped over it in a somersault, turning toward it, backhand punching it in the face, making it turn away. The creature turned back to her, trying to kick her. Tara rolled underneath the leg, standing on the other side, turning to face it.

Stacie turned to Derek and Stiles, unwrapping Derek's arm from around her shoulders. "Go."

Tara kicked the creature to the side.

"What about you?" Stiles asked.

"The thing's either gonna kill Tara or do the same thing it did to us," Stacie told him quietly. "Go."

The creature hissed as it stood on the back two legs, slicing both of the clawed arms at Tara. Tara dodged both times, circling around with her head and stomach as if inside a hula hoop.

Stiles started to walk down the aisles of the pools, pulling Derek with him.

Derek looked at Stiles. "Call Scott and Arielle."

Stacie turned toward Tara.

The creature ran toward Tara. Tara tried to kick it. The creature caught her leg, throwing it away so hard she spun through the air horizontally before landing on the floor on her stomach. The creature sliced the back of her neck. Tara's hand went to her neck.

Tara spun into a standing position, kicking it back. She could no longer stand, starting to fall.

Stacie ran forward, grabbing one of Tara's arms, wrapping it around her shoulders, running down the pool aisle, following Stiles and Derek, pulling Tara with her.

"Thought I told you to go, Stacie," Tara told her.

"Thought you were gonna die, Tara," Stacie replied.

They caught up to Derek and Stiles.

"Where is it?" Stiles asked. "Can you see it?"

"I can smell it," Derek told them. "Please hurry."

"Call Arielle and Scott," Tara told them.

"Yeah, Derek said that," Stacie told her.

Stiles and Stacie pulled Derek and Tara around the edge of the pool.

Stiles tried to pull his phone out of his pocket, dropping it.

Stiles let go of Derek.

Derek fell into Tara and Stacie, a little too close to the pool. All three of them started to fall in the water. "Stiles!"

Stiles looked toward them. He looked at the phone.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Underwater

The force of being knocked into by Derek and the water had made Stacie let go of Tara.

Stacie looked around.

Tara and Derek were sinking down to the bottom of the pool, unable to move.

Stacie swam down closer to them, wrapping one arm under Derek's left arm, the other around Tara's right arm, her elbows folded up and around their arms.

Stiles looked from his phone to the water, having an internal debate.

Stacie looked up to the surface, kicking up toward the surface of the water, struggling. The weight of Derek and Tara brought her back down. She swam toward the surface.

Stacie broke through the water, gasping for air.

Their weight was enough to pull her down again.

Stacie kicked up again. "Stiles!"

Their weight pulled her down again.

Stiles looked from the phone to the water. Finally, he jumped into the water.

Stiles swam toward them, wrapping his arm around Derek, swimming up to the surface, pulling him with him.

Stiles and Derek burst through the water, both gasping for breath. Stiles wrapped Derek's arm around his shoulders.

Stacie and Tara burst through the water, both gasping for breath. Stacie wrapped Tara's arm around her shoulders.

Stacie looked at Derek. "Where did it go? Do you see it?"

"No," Derek answered.

"Okay, maybe it took off," Stiles told them.

They heard the creature screech in the distance.

Tara looked around. "Maybe not."

Chris and Victoria were preparing dinner. They heard the door open.

Allison and Gerard stood in the doorway.

Victoria looked up. "Oh, good. You're back. Dinner's almost ready."

"How was the game?" Chris asked.

"Why don't you ask the star player?" Gerard asked.

Scott stepped into view, smiling awkwardly. "Hi."

Chris and Victoria stared at them in surprise, anger and nervousness.

Chris, Victoria, Allison, Scott and Gerard sat together, eating. No one spoke. No one maintained eye contact.

Gerard looked around. "All right. Why is everyone so quiet? Is it that uncomfortable that they dated?"

Chris looked at Gerard. "Did you ask them if they'd be uncomfortable?"

Gerard gave Chris a knowing look. "Okay, I know it's been a few centuries since I was a teenager, but even back then, we dated and broke up all the time."

"We're fine," Allison told him. She looked at Scott across the table. "Right, Scott?"

 Scott smiled. "Totally fine."

"Then why did you break up?" Gerard asked.

"She dumped me?" Scott stated what sounded like a question.

 Allison tilted her head.

Chris and Victoria gave him a look.

Beacon Hills High School - Pool Room

Stiles, Derek, Stacie and Tara were still in the water.

Derek looked from Stiles to Stacie. "You get us out of here before we drown."

"You're worried about drowning?" Stiles asked. "Did you notice the thing out there with multiple rows of razor sharp teeth?"

"Did you notice we're paralyzed from the neck down in eight feet of water?" Tara replied incredulously, raising her voice.

"Okay," Stacie told them, stopping the argument, looking around for the creature. "I don't see it."

Stacie started to swim forward, pulling Tara with her toward the edge.

Stiles started to follow, swimming forward, pulling Derek with him.

"Wait, wait, wait, stop, stop," Derek told them.

They followed his gaze.

The creature was there, hissing as it came closer. It just kept walking.

"What's it waiting for?" Stiles asked.

No one answered because no one had an answer to give.

(Song:) Bass Go - The Filthy Pillows

Everyone was still at the table.

Chris looked at Scott. "No offense, Scott. But I think maybe Allison felt the two of you were just growing apart?"

"As if the father's opinion isn't biased," Gerard asked. "How do you know they weren't as passionate as Romeo & Juliet?"

"Romeo and Juliet committed ritual suicide," Chris replied. "We could use a little less passion."

"Can we please talk about something else?" Allison asked.

 Victoria smiled awkwardly. "Brilliant idea."

"Scott," Chris told them. "How about you help me grab dessert from the kitchen?"

Chris grabbed Scott's throat, pushing him against the refrigerator. "Do I need to fill you in on the details of what would happen to you if he found out what we all know?"

"I'm kind of wondering what would happen to you, actually," Scott told him.

Chris slowly let him go, pointing at him. "Oh, it wouldn't be very good for me. But then I'd have plenty of chances to redeem myself. And that wouldn't be good for you."

Chris and Scott slowly grabbed the two plates on the island counter. They never took their gaze from each other, walking toward the dining room.

Scott and Allison looked around, going through his stuff.

Allison gestured to the safe on the floor. "All right. There goes that plan."

"Wait," Scott told her. "Actually, let me try something."

Scott knelt next to the safe, pressing his ear against the metal.

Allison sat next to him in confusion.

Scott turned the combination lock to the right until he heard the click. He turned the combination lock to the left until he heard the click. He turned the combination lock to the right until he heard the click. He opened the door.

Allison smiled. "You wanna do a few banks later?"

Scott pulled out Gerard's book, going through it. His excitement turned into confusion. "Salmon, tarte, crème fraiche... What is this?"

Allison looked up in disappointment and realization. "A recipe." Scott gave her a confused look. "It's a cookbook."

Stiles, Derek, Stacie and Tara were still in the water.

Stacie readjusted her hold on Tara, seemingly in slight pain from holding her.  "Okay. Okay. I don't think I can do this much longer."

"No, no, no," Tara told her. "Don't even think about it."

"Would you just trust me this once?" Stacie asked.

"No," Tara answered with no hesitation.

"We're the ones keeping you both alive," Stacie told her, looking from Tara to Derek. "Have either of you noticed that?"

"Yeah," Tara answered. "And when the paralysis wears off, who is gonna be able to fight that thing, you or us?"

"That's why we've been holding you up for the past two hours?" Stiles asked incredulously.

"You don't trust us, we don't trust you," Derek told them. "You need us to survive, which is why neither of you are gonna let either of us go." Stiles looked at Derek weirdly, tossing his arm off his shoulder. "Stiles!"

Derek sank under.

Stiles swam quickly for his phone.

The creature ran forward.

"Stiles!" Stacie told him in worry.

Stiles stopped in caution.

Tara looked down at Derek underwater. "Get him. Now, Stacie."

"Kinda can't unless you want all of us to die," Stacie told her, looking down at Derek, seemingly in pain.

Tara looked back toward Stiles. "Stiles, hurry the hell up!"

Stiles swam forward bravely, reaching for the phone.

The creature ran toward him.

Stiles swam toward Stacie and Tara with his phone held above his head so it didn't touch the water. "Scott or Ari first?"

Stacie and Tara spoke together. "Either!"

Stiles put the phone to his ear.

Ari was in her home, in her bedroom. She was sitting on her bed, looking at the books on her bed and writing down homework answers.

Across the room, her phone vibrated, the Caller I.D. saying Stiles

"Thank God," Ari muttered, spinning her legs out of the crossed position and on the floor. She walked toward her dresser, tossing her pen on the bed, going to answer, standing at her vanity dresser, leaning against it with one arm, picking up her phone with the other, answering, putting it up to her ear. "Yeah?"

"Ari!" Stiles told her.

Ari jumped a little at the loudness of his voice in her ear, the sound of intensity. "You okay?"

"Get to the school, the pools," Stiles told her. "Now."

"Why?" Ari asked. "What's wrong?"

"Don't ask questions, just get here!" Stiles told her.

"Okay," Ari told him. "I'll be there soon waiting for the best explanation in the world."

Ari hung up, reaching for her leather jacket on her chair, already heading for the door.

Stiles hung up. "She's on her way."

"KP," Stacie told them.

Stiles dialed the next number.

In the Argent home, in the guest bedroom, Scott's phone rang.

"Shut it off!" Allison told him in a whisper. "Shut it off!"

"I know, I'm sorry," Scott told her, taking out his phone and answering.

 "Scott!" Stiles told him.

"I can't talk right now," Scott told him, hanging up.

Stiles scoffed, looking at the phone. "He hung up."

"Get Derek," Tara stressed.

Stiles threw the phone into the water. Stacie handed Tara to Stiles for him to keep her above water, swimming under the water to retrieve Derek, swimming back up, gasping for air.

Derek looked at all of them. "Tell me you got them."

"You can say that," Stacie told him.

Derek looked at Stacie in confusion.

"Arielle's coming," Tara explained.

"What about Scott?" Derek asked.

"Uh, not really," Stacie answered awkwardly.

"'Not really'?" Derek repeated. "Stacie, what do you mean, 'Not really'?"

Stiles looked away. "He, uh, hung up on me, okay?"

Argent House - Guest Bedroom

Scott and Allison were still sitting down.

Scott shook his head. "Without it, we have no idea what this thing is."

"Where else do we look?" Allison asked.

"Well, what haven't we thought of?" Scott asked.

Allison started to realize.  "Maybe it's not a book. Something else he keeps close to him. Huh. I know where it is."

Dining Room

Chris, Victoria and Gerard were still sitting at the table.

Scott and Allison walked in.

"Principal Argent, Gerard," Scott told him. "Mr. and Mrs. Argent, thank you for dinner." Allison took her seat at the table. "Um, I just realized that I have to pick up my mom from work."

Scott walked away, leaving the house.

Gerard watched him go. "I don't get it. What's not to like?"

Allison smiled awkwardly, shrugging, taking a bite of her food.

Beacon Hills High School - Pool Room

Stiles, Derek, Stacie and Tara were still in the water.

Stacie nearly sank, pushing herself back up. "I can't stay up any longer, I need something to hold on to."

Stacie started to swim toward the bars, pulling Derek with her.

"No," Derek told her. "Wait, do you hear that?"

Stacie stopped.

"Hear what?" Stiles asked.

They heard the familiar hum of a motorcycle.

Tara looked up. "Arielle's motorcycle."

Stacie closed her eyes, sighing in relief.

Stiles laughed.

Outside

Ari pulled her bike up to the parking lot, pulling over in front of the concrete steps, stopping the bike, kicking down the kick stand, getting off, taking off the helmet, setting it on her seat, walking forward.

The creature walked into view behind her.

Ari stopped, sensing it behind her, turning around, looking behind her in confused suspicion.

The creature was gone.

Ari turned around, walking toward the school.

Inside - Hallway

Ari walked through the halls.

She heard the creature screeched in the distance.

Ari looked up, realizing the only thing that it could have been, running down the hallway.

Pool Room

Stiles, Tara, Stacie and Derek were still in the water.

Ari ran inside, coming to a stop when she saw them. "I heard it. Where is it?" They looked behind her. Ari looked up in annoyance. "It's walking in right now, isn't it?"

"Yep," Stiles answered.

Ari turned to face the creature.

"Be careful," Stacie told her nervously. The creature stalked toward Ari. Ari let her eyes glow blue and her claws grow. The creature jumped toward her. Ari ducked, rolling back to where it rolled over her, pushing it off. The creature rolled to a standing position, turning to face her. Ari spun to a standing position, turning to face it. The creature circled around her, luring her to the pool. Ari slowly took two steps back to the edge. "Ari--"

"I got it," Ari told them, running toward the creature.

The creature ducked to the floor, wrapping its tail around Ari's waist, pulling it to where her body was starting to fly over its head, flipping over it, and landed right in the pool with a huge splash.

Underwater

Ari submerged, her hair trailing toward the surface, her eyes closed, (slow motion). She pushed and kicked up toward the surface.

  ¤•¤°¤•¤

Above Water

Ari broke through the surface, gasping, looking back at the creature.

"Welcome back, Ariel," Stacie told her.

Ari rolled her eyes.

The creature walked forward, touching the water, jumping back.

"The thing's scared of water?" Ari asked.

"Seems like it," Stiles told her.

"Now can you get us out of here?" Tara asked.

"I'd be happy to help you, Tara," Ari told her. "You're not the Hale that tried to have Isaac and Erica kill me and Scott." She looked at Derek. "But I'll help you anyway."

Ari pushed Stiles and Tara toward the bars. She pushed Stacie and Derek toward the bars. She started to swim toward the bars.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Outside

Scott pulled up his car to the parking lot, getting out, closing the door, making a call.  "Stiles, where are you? Why aren't you and Stacie answering your phones? I need Gerard's keys, there's a USB drive on it. That's the bestiary." He turned around, walking toward the school. He slowed to a stop, looking at Ari's bike in confusion. "Ari?"

Scott looked toward the school, walking forward.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Pool Room

Stiles, Derek, Stacie, Tara and Ari were still in the water.

Stacie and Derek slipped underwater.

Ari pulled them back up to the air.

"Ari, help me get Derek out first and I'll help you get Stacie and Tara out," Stiles told her.

Ari nodded, swimming forward.

They heard the creature screech in the distance, looking in the direction it had come from.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Hallway

Scott ran toward the principal's office. He looked at the key on the door handle in confusion, taking them out.

He heard the echo of the screech, looking out into the hall.

Pool Room

Ari climbed out of the pool on the edge by grabbing a bar, pivoting in a crouched position, turning toward Derek, pulling him out of the water, pulling him toward the wall, letting him fall.

Derek's head hit the wall. He looked up in annoyance. "Ow."

"I'm sorry, did that hurt?" Ari asked. "Good."

Ari walked toward the pool, helping Stiles out.

Stacie held Tara toward Ari.

The creature hissed, running toward them.

Stiles backed away clumsily in fear, falling into the wall.

The creature jumped toward Ari, pushing her away from the pool.

Tara fell back into the pool, taking Stacie underwater with her.

Ari stood from the floor, slashing toward the creature, dripping wet. The creature ducked. Ari kicked in a circular motion. The creature circled in a crouch underneath to avoid being hit, standing straight, slashing toward her. Ari ducked, legs bent in a crouch, rolling in a ball to get past him and toward the pool.

Stacie and Tara were still underwater, pushing toward the surface.

Scott pulled Stacie and Tara out of the water, pulling them toward Derek and Stiles.

Stacie landed next to Derek, breathing heavily, sitting up. She looked at Derek.

Derek looked at Stacie.

Tara could barely move.

Stiles was still on the floor, sitting up.

Scott was perched on a diving board, looking forward, roaring with rage.

The creature ran toward Scott, jumping onto him, making him fall. They both rolled to crouching positions, facing each other. The creature wrapped its tail around Scott's ankle, throwing him over his head, making him flip through the air, hitting a mirror, shattering it.

Ari ran toward the creature, jumping over its head, kicking it back.

Scott picked up a piece of broken mirror.

The creature looked at its reflection piece of broken mirror, tilting its head in confusion. It ran forward, jumping over Ari's head and to the wall, then the ceiling, crawling along it, breaking through the skylight, disappearing.

Ari exhaled, hanging her head, her wet hair sticking to her face from the fight. She pulled them down.

Scott and Ari looked at Derek, Stacie, Tara and Stiles.

Outside - Parking Lot

Stacie, Stiles, Scott and Ari looked at a laptop with USB drive plugged in, a page about the creature on it, in a foreign language.

"Is that even a language?" Stiles asked, in a mood.

"It's a form of Latin," Ari answered. "Older than the one I'm studying. Archaic. I'm studying classic. I can't translate it all."

"Then how are we supposed to figure out what this thing is?" Scott asked.

Derek and Tara walked toward them.

"It's called a Kanima," Derek told them.

"You knew the whole time?" Stiles asked.

"No," Tara answered. "Only when it was confused by its own reflection."

"It doesn't know what it is," Ari realized.

"Or who," Tara confirmed.

"What else do you know?" Stacie asked.

"Just stories, rumors," Derek answered.

"But it's like us?" Scott asked.

"A shapeshifter, yes," Derek answered. "But it's not right. It's like a..."

"An abomination," Stacie finished.

Derek looked at Stacie, nodding.

Derek and Tara started to walk away.

Scott looked at Ari.

Ari shook her head at the unspoken question.

Scott nodded.

Ari sighed a defeated sigh, nodding.

"Derek, Tara," Scott called. Tara tilted her head. Derek and Tara turned back. "We need to work together on this. Maybe even tell the Argents."

"You trust them?" Tara asked incredulously.

"No one trusts anyone!" Scott told them. "That's our problem."

Ari nodded in agreement. "While we're arguing about who's on what side, there's something scarier, stronger, faster than any of us, and it's killing people. And we still don't know anything about it."

"I know one thing," Derek told them. "When I find it?" He turned around, starting to walk away. "I'm gonna kill it."

Tara looked at Stacie, Stiles, Scott and Ari one last time, turning around, following Derek.

Tara and Derek walked away, leaving.

Stacie, Stiles, Scott and Ari watched them go.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Outside - Parking Lot

Scott parked in the parking lot, getting out of the car, closing the door. He looked toward the transparent door.

Macey and Melissa were talking, smiling, both about to leave.

Melissa saw Scott, waving.

Scott waved back.

Gerard walked up behind Scott, turning him to face him, stabbing him in the stomach with a knife, making him groan and gasp in pain. "Don't move. Even though I can practically feel the tissue around the blade already trying to heal, you never know with a Beta. Besides, we'd lose this perfect picture." He wrapped one arm around Scott. "The kind old grandfather embracing his favorite grandson after hearing good news from the doctor. That's right. I can play the nice doddering grandpa who likes to cook and tell stories and be sweet and charming. And trust me, I can do it far better than you playing 'average broken-hearted teenage boy'. Are you listening?"

 "Yes," Scott answered.

"Perfect," Gerard told him. "Now, you're gonna do me a favor one of these days and you're gonna do it, because if you don't, this knife goes in her." He looked toward Melissa. Scott followed his gaze. "Scott? I truly believe that it's so much easier when bad things don't have to happen to good people. Don't you agree?"

 "Yes," Scott answered.

Gerard took the knife out, walking away, leaving.

Macey and Melissa walked out of the hospital together.

Macey nodded to Scott. "Hey, there, Scott."

"Hi, Mrs. Martin," Scott told her nervously, his voice shaky.

Melissa smiled, looking at Macey. "See you, Macey." Macey walked away, leaving. Melissa looked at Scott. "You okay?"

Scott nodded unbelievably. "Yeah, fine. Everything's fine."

Scott looked down at his own blood dripping toward the ground, spreading to cover the view completely.

"I think I'm finally getting why you two keep refusing me," Derek told them. "You're not Omegas. You're already apart of your own pack."

Stiles, Stacie, Allison, Ari and Scott walked off of the porch, into the lawn, turning around to look onto the roof of the house.

The Kanima was crawling across the roof. It looked toward them, screeching, running off, disappearing.
