Chapter Eight
"Who are the Titans?" Annabeth asked Bianca. Percy raised his eyebrows.
"You've never heard of them?" Percy sounded surprised. "They are a druggie group, going around, selling drugs, sometimes killing people. But they haven't struck for over seven years. Are they behind this?" Percy asked Bianca.
"Most likely. I've hated them ever since one of their members got me thrown in jail. I was a part of their group, and their leader promised me seven years ago that they wouldn't hurt my brother as long a I worked with them. They kept their promise, but when they sent me on a mission with my 'best friend' he betrayed me. We were to bring one of the most dangerous drugs to some alleyway and leave them there. But someone set us up. When we got there, there were police everywhere. The police shot me with a paralyzing dart and my friend took one glance at me and ran, escaping. I don't even know where he is," Bianca explained.
"What was his name?" Percy asked, speeding around the corner.
"You want me to solve a mystery for you already? I think it's a little too quick in our lovely adventure for me to-" Annabeth grabbed Bianca by the throat and stared at her. Bianca pulled away and coughed.
"Fine. His name is Sammy Valdez," she said. Percy and Annabeth froze.
"There!" Annabeth said quickly, pointing towards a different alleyway where a white van was speeding down the street. Percy swerved down and they were on the trail. They chased after the van turning corner after corner, speeding up and ignoring stop signs and lights.
"Bianca, is there a chance that Sammy looks identical to Leo?" Annabeth yells over the wind rushing through the cracks in the windows.
"Well duh, their twins!" Bianca shouted back. Percy tried to block of the noise and concentrate on the van. Suddenly it took a sharp left and Percy did too. There was a giant screeching noise as the tires slid across the concrete. The van was heading right towards the bridge to cross to the second part of town. Below the river raged, the current stronger than most currents in the world. That's when a android smell hit their noses.
"Do you smell that?" Bianca asks.
"Oh god, Percy, stop!" Annabeth cried. But Percy wasn't gonna stop. They were gaining on the van.
"I'm not losing these guys," he growled, keeping his eyes fixated on the van that was almost across the huge bridge.
"Percy! Someone did break into your car!" Annabeth cried out. Bianca stiffened.
"She's right. That's a really bad chemical. It messes with the car bad, if you don't stop we're gonna-" Bianca is cut off when the steering wheel started steering itself.
"Ohmygods!" Annabeth and Bianca screamed. Percy tried to gain control but the steering wheel was strong.
Wow, what a way to die. In a fist fight with a steering wheel, Percy though.
"Press the brake!" Yelled Bianca. Percy jammed his foot but it wasn't working. Now they were swerving crazy across the bridge, and thank god there were no other cars around but the van that was losing them.
"It's not working! Something's underneath it!" Percy cried out. That's when the steering wheel spun all the way around and popped off. The car went straight off the bridge as the three of them screamed, and hit the water, sinking slowly down.
