Lilypaw and Darkpaw walked out into the with Leopardsnow and Acornheart. Icepaw and Sparrowpaw watched excitedly, as after Lilypaw and Darkpaw completed their assessment it would be their turn.

Lilypaw and Leopardsnow headed to the river banks and Darkpaw and Acornheart padded deeper into the forest.

Lilypaw had already caught a mouse and a vole.  She was sniffing for prey when a familiar scent hit her. She gasped and ran towards it. She reached the river and saw it, Pepperkit flailing around in the water. "Leopardsnow!" Lilypaw screamed before grabbing a stick to get Pepperkit out with. "Grab this" she told Pepperkit. Pepperkit weakly grabbed on before slipping and sinking beneath the water. Lilypaw dropped the stick and jumped into the river. She grabbed Pepperkit's limp body and swam to the side. Leopardsnow ran over and helped Lilypaw get out of the stream.

Dancingstar looked around at the gathered cats "the murderer has struck again, Pepperkit drowned in the river" she said indicating to the small limp body in front of them.
