Canarysong padded out of the camp. He was on his way to meet his mate in secret. He knew he wasn't allowed to have a mate so him and Scamperstep kept it a secret. He padded through the long grass and down the hill to meet buy the lake.

When he got there he searched around for Scamperstep, he knew she was there already as her scent trail was there. As he searched up for her he came across her black and white body which was cover in wounds and blood. Canarysong let out a distraught wail and rushed over to her. The body was wet to get rid of a scent trail but one thing was clear another cat had killed her.

Maplestar padded back and forth whilst the clan gathered. Once they had gathered she explained that Canarysong song had found Scamperstep dead, missing out the bit that it was planned that they met there, by the lake and confirmed that a cat had killed her. Shocked gasps echoed around the camp.
