Sports Festival 1/2

"OH SHIT THE SPORTS FESTIVAL IS TODAY?!" I shout, throwing on my gym clothes and bolting out the door, Eijiro hot on my heels. We were already kind of late, but missing the bus to the arena would be too much. We ran all the way there, almost tripping over multiple times in our rush. Every time, we caught eachother. And every time, we blushed.

"SORRY WE'RE LATE!!" we both shout simultaneously, kicking the door to Class 1-A open Bakugou style. Aizawa was standing out the front, face palming.

"Sit down!" he commands and we rush to do as he says, taking our seats.

"You only just made it, we were about to leave," Kaminari whispers, leaning towards me. I smile weakly, glad to have made it. He smiles back.

"Stop whispering like starstruck lovers and pay attention," Aizawa mumbles. Kaminari immediately leans away, his face red, and I dart a glance at Eijiro. He was confused, but he caught my eye and smiled. I smiled back, feeling my eyes soften as the adrenaline leaves my body.

"As I was saying, there will be class groups... yadda yadda yadda, meet me out the front. Let's just get this over with," Aizawa mutters, walking out of the room for once instead of rolling in his sleeping bag. We follow, Kaminari on my left side and Eijiro on my right. Koda and Shoji were talking quietly to eachother at the back of the group, and I was silently screaming about how pure they were. Especially Koda. Reaching the front gate, we find Class 1-B waiting there as well. It had gone down when I wasn't at school, but one of them - I think his name was Shinsoo, or something - had made a declaration of war on our class. It was stupid, but it was what happened.

Pouring onto the bus, nobody said a word the whole trip. It was only half an hour but the atmosphere was so tense I thought a single word would break it. When it finally pulled over in front of the stadium, I think everyone sighed in relief, as there was a sudden whoosh of air around the bus. Pouring into the stadium, a pro hero addresses the class groups. I think her name was Midnight? On my right, Mineta was absolutely dying from a nosebleed.

She explained the rules of the tournament and announced the first competition.

"The first trial shall be..." she paused for effect, waiting for the TV screen above her to display the name.

"The obstacle race!!"

We started walking away when I realised Mineta was still frozen, staring at Midnight. Turning back and driving my fist into the top of Mineta's head to bring him back to reality, he fell to his knees with tears in the corners of his eyes and clutching the top of his head.

"Come on, you perverted grape. We're starting," I say gruffly, stalking back to my other friends. He followed along behind me meekly, still rubbing his head and not saying anything. Lining up at the tunnel leading to the track, I stay around the middle with Eijiro and Kaminari. A minute passes as everyone gets into place, and my heart was fluttering nervously.

"START!!"

I freeze for a second, scared by the sudden shout, but then am shoved forwards by the other students behind me. Trying to keep my footing, I leap forwards, snarling whenever someone hit me. I lost my classmates in the tunnel, but managed to come out the other end before most of the crowd. It was good that I did, as Shoto Todoroki, the son of Endeavor, was freezing the ground in an attempt to slow the rest of us down. Leaping above the wave, I skid along the surface and almost fall over before I feel someone help me regain my balance.

"Thank me later!" Eijiro cries, running ahead of me. I smile, running after him as the crowd behind me tries to free their legs from the ice. A dark purple sphere lands in front of me, sticking to the ice, and I swerve to avoid it. Glancing behind me, I see Mineta using his Quirk to bounce over the frozen floor and get ahead of us. As he was about to pass Shoto, a giant metal arm smashes into his back and flicks him away.

"What the hell?!" I scream, staring up at the enormous zero point robots from the entrance exam. I keep running towards them, trying to think of a plan, as Shoto once again uses his Quirk. All the robots move to attack him, only to be frozen mid-movement. He runs through them, not once glancing behind him.

"Hey! We can get through!" someone calls behind me, and I hear the sounds of running feet again.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you! I froze them while they were unbalanced!!" Shoto calls over his shoulder, just as the first robot starts leaning forwards. Fear spears through my heart as I realise I was right in its way and I put on an extra burst of speed.

"(Y/N)!!" I hear Eijiro call, and glance up at the looming robot. It was about to land on me. Rolling forwards desperately, it crashes to the ground and a searing pain shoots up my arm. Dust is kicked up all around me, making me unable to even see my own hand in front of my face.

"AND THE ROBOT HAS FALLEN!! IS (Y/N) OKAY?!" Present Mic's voice booms from the stadium, making my head hurt.

"Shit..." I mutter, clenching my teeth and trying not to cry out. My arm was crushed under the robot, almost completely shattered, and I wouldn't be able to keep going without help. As I was thinking this, an eruption come from the robot's chest in front of me. Eijiro bursts forth, his Quirk fully activated.

"THAT WAS DANGEROUS!! IF IT WAS ANYONE OTHER THAN ME THEN THEY WOULD'VE DIED!!" he cries, roaring into the air. Another eruption comes forth beside him, and someone made completely out of a silver material bursts forth.

"THAT WAS DANGEROUS!! IF IT WAS ANYONE OTHER THAN ME THEN THEY WOULD'VE DIED!!" he cries, roaring into the air. Eijiro and the silver boy glare at eachother for a few seconds, then they take off running.

"Hey!" I call out, then cry out in pain. Eijiro's head turns at the sound of my voice. The silver boy also pauses, gazing around. They both see me at the same time.

"(Y/N)!" Eijiro cries, rushing forwards.

"Jesus, are you alright?!" the silver boy asks, using his Quirk to help him move the metal off my crushed arm. I wince, hissing through my teeth, and they help me stand up.

"I'll be fine, thanks. Let's keep going," I say, gritting my teeth and starting to move forwards. I couldn't go fast, only a quick limp, but Eijiro and the silver boy stay with me. The silver boy introduces himself as Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, and I laugh at his name, then hiss in pain again. Without warning, Tetsutetsu sweeps me into his arms and start running forwards, apparently having grown impatient. I cry out, in both pain and surprise, but he doesn't put me down. Eijiro follows along, glancing at me worriedly every couple of seconds. I could tell in his expression that he wanted to carry me instead, and I would have preferred it that way, but it was too late for that now.

"What's this?! Class 1-A's Eijiro Kirishima, (Y/N) (L/N) and Class 1-B's Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu are working together?!" Present Mic's voice bellows, and I realise with a start that there was a flying camera with a speaker attached following us. A few students from various classes, including 1-A, glance around, their gazes landing on us. I try to ignore them, but feel my face heat up.

'How stupid is that? Embarrassed because you have people who care about you?' I ask myself, clearing my thoughts. Tetsu glances down at me and our eyes meet. He quickly looks away, focusing on the track. A few more seconds pass and we round a bend, then quickly come to a halt. I look around in confusion and realise we were standing on the edge of an enormous trench, rock pillars strewn about at random with single ropes connecting them. I realised then that Tetsu was panting lightly, tiring out faster from carrying me.

Staring at their faces as they glanced at eachother, I could tell immediately that they were thinking of how to get all three of us across.

"Guys just leave me here, go get yourselves a decent rank," I say, trying to squirm out of Tetsu's grip. He doesn't let go, instead holding me tighter.

"We're not doing that. Wrap your legs around me and hold on with your good arm," he commands, moving me around so I was in front of him. Glancing at Eijiro, I noticed he was pouting.

"I-I would rather... I would rather going with Eijiro," I say, averting my eyes and hoping he doesn't get offended. Eijiro straightens up, his small pout turning into a smile. Tetsu nods and I smile in relief, cradling my injured arm and walking over to Eijiro. He picks me up, helping me wrap my legs around him and my good arm around his back, then slowly lowers himself onto the rope. I accidentally tighten my grip on him as we swing out over the huge hole, locking my legs around him.

"You good (Y/N)?" he asks, starting to crawl across. When we were around half way, I felt the rope sway and knew Tetsu had started crossing as well.

"As good as I can get while I'm above a giant hole," I say, trying to focus on him and not the yawning abyss below us. He chuckles and lifts us over onto the rock pillar we were crossing over to. Most of the other students that had taken part in this race were still crossing around us, so we didn't lose that much time. Tetsu joined us and we crept across the next rope, all the while with my legs locked around Eijiro's waist. When we were finally safe on the other side, I wanted to collapse on the ground from how weak my limbs felt. Eijiro caught me, hoisting me into his arms bridal style and waiting for Tetsu. When we were all together again, they continued running. We were now ahead of the main group, somehow. I felt bad for kind of cheating, having other people carry me while the rest had to do it on their own.

'If you're looking for someone to blame, then blame Todoroki. He was the one that froze the robots,' I tell myself, but I don't have the willpower to blame him for it. It was my fault for ignoring my fear. The next few minutes were spent in silence, the only sounds coming from the boys being faint panting. We turned another corner, and almost straight away a blast erupted on our right - exactly where Tetsu was a few moments ago. A cry above us makes us look to the sky, seeing him flying backwards through the air.

"Tetsu!!" I cry, watching him fall. Thankfully, it wasn't that far, and he quickly rejoined us.

"That was a mine. Look out for darker patches of dirt," he warns, now slowly making his way forwards, checking the ground carefully before putting his feet down. An idea creeps into my head, and I glance around. I was scared of Tetsu reacting to my Quirk, but I couldn't hide it forever.

"Eijiro, I... I'm going to use my Quirk. I'm scared though. If Tetsu starts calling me names-" I start, the get cut off as he holds me tighter.

"It'll be fine, (Y/N). Just do what you need to do," he says, gazing down at me and giving me a gently smile. My heart gives an extra strong beat and I nod, swallowing the saliva in my mouth. Focusing my mind, I keep an eye out for the darker circles of dirt that marked the mines. Tetsu was still unaware of my actions, carefully picking his way across the mine field with his Quirk activated just in case. He jumped a bit when the dirt patch in front of him darkened suddenly.

"Avoid the dark patches, they're mines!" Eijiro calls, and Tetsu nods, though I could see he was still confused. I kept my concentration up, dispersing the path behind us and moving it forwards. Bakugou and Shoto were right up the front, attacking eachother relentlessly while still moving forward. Without warning, the biggest explosion yet erupted from behind us. Turning my head and losing concentration for a few seconds, Eijiro almost steps on a mine. Quickly activating my Quirk again, I keep my eyes locked on the giant cloud of dust behind us. A few seconds pass before something shoots out of it, looking like a sheet of metal with someone... holding on...

"Holy shit that's Midoriya!!" I cry, pointing at the flying object. The boys pause for a second, turning to stare at the soaring boy as he passes over us, quickly gaining on the two in front. I watch in awe as he passes Bakugou and Shoto, then quickly poke Eijiro.

"Come on, we'll be disqualified if we keep standing here," I say, then call out to Tetsu. The boys pick up speed, relying on me to show them where the mines are. It was draining my energy, but I kept it up until we reached the end of the mine field. I sigh heavily in relief, sagging in Eijiro's arms. A roar echoes from the stadium in front of us and Eijiro sets me on my feet, just out of sight from the tunnel leading into the stadium.

"It'll be better if you walk in on your own. Will you be okay?" he asks, making sure I can stand on my own before removing his arms.

"Yeah, go on ahead. We're far enough in front for us to keep our spots," I say, smiling. Without thinking about Tetsu standing directly beside me, I lean forwards and kiss Eijiro's cheek. Tetsu chokes in surprise and Eijiro's face turns red.

"Thanks," I say, then start limping away, cradling my arm, before anyone can say anything. To my minor discomfort, they don't run ahead of me, hanging behind and whispering to eachother.

"AND OUR FAVOURITE THREE HAVE RETURNED!!!" Present Mic's voice screamed as we entered the stadium. The crowd roared, a wave forming its way along the crowd. My face reddens and I look at the ground, trying to ignore the stabbing pain in my arm.

"Favourite three?" I ask to nobody in particular, but get an answer anyway.

"Maybe because we worked together?" Tetsu suggests, helping me over to Midnight so she can look at my arm and decide whether I needed to recover or not. I was admitted into the nurses office, and the boys walked me there despite my protesting. Recovery Girl laid me on a bed and kissed my forehead, activating her Quirk on me. Even after all the times I've been in here, it was still awkward. As I blacked out, I hear Eijiro say "Wish me luck in the next contest".
