Chapter 8
When the sun rose above the horizon and the birds sang their morning songs....
A tribe lay in a small clear spot in the sea of trees.
"There have been intruders spotted" the lookout told his leader.
"Is it anybody I know?" He asked.
"I-it is... John" the lookout said uneasily, knowing the mention of John's name was upsetting to his leader.
"Is he alone?"
"N-no" the lookout was obviously getting worried.
"Who is with him?"
" A-a girl b-but I do not know a name"
"Take the girl, make sure John knows. I told him I would get my revenge" The leader said.
----------------------------
Sir John and Elizabeth were still hiking through the forest.
The sounds of crickets echoing between the trees.
"Do you hear that?" Elizabeth asked.
"Hear what?" Sir John was tired of having to deal with Elizabeth.
"That sound... Over there" Elizabeth takes of running east, away from the kingdom and Sir John's mysterious destination.
"Elizabeth!" Sir John yelled running after her. When he found her she was standing staring at a..... Waterfall.
"Is this?" Sir John asked, shocked.
"Only one way to know" she says. Elizabeth walks up to the waters edge and reaches down into the water.
She pulls out.... A dagger?
Yes. Specifically Sir John's dagger, from when they met.
"This was the place we met" Elizabeth said, dumbfounded. "Also, could this still cut through these ropes?"
She held up her tied hands.
"Probably" he responds.
Elizabeth tried to cut the ropes but Sir John took the dagger before she could cut anything.
"That's mine!" She exclaimed
"No. It's mine" he told her.
Then a sudden ruffle in the bushes caught their attention.
With both being skilled in the art of stealth, they instinctively hid behind a large tree.
"Is anything there?" Elizabeth asked, quietly.
Before John could answer a dark figure dropped from above them. Stroking their skin with a poison.
Immediately, they both fell unconscious.
--------------
When John woke, the sun had already set. The forest had an ghostly glow tinted with silence as sweet as death.
'How long have been asleep?' He wondered to himself. 'Has it been days? Weeks?'
As he stood up, rustling the dead leaves he came to realize what was truly different..
"Elizabeth?!" He called.
No answer.
As he began to worry, heart pounding, an unnatural green shine caught his eye,
'An arrowhead?'
He picked it up from it's earthly prison to examine it.
'It's poison' he thought.
Immediately he knew who was behind this.
'Than'
