Part 2, Chapter 1

??? POV

Years ago

I slowly opened my eyes. "W-what's going on?"

Hello. You awake? K. My name is Nastasia."

Nastasia.

"Now, I understand that this is a little strange, but don't worry. We have big plans for you."

"My name....what's my name?"

"Your name is Mr. L."

Mr. L? Heh, I like it.

"Now I know this is all new, and you may feel a little disoriented, but don't worry. I'll have Dimentio help get you settled in. K?"

Dimentio....who's that?

The funny thing is, I know who I was. I know who Luigi and Mario and Peach are. But....I also don't know who I am.

I know I was Luigi. But....I'm also not Luigi. I don't quite feel like him at least.

Mr. L.... that's who I am.

"Dimentio! I need you to help get our new Minion in training settled, K?"

A weird looking guy looked up.

Pffft, what was he wearing? He looked like a clown or something. Who chooses to dress like that? Nastasia gave him a glare, which caused him to get up and introduce himself.

"Greetings. I am Dimentio, Count Bleck's Master of Dimensions and Pleaser of Crowds."

"You look like a clown."

He ignored my little remark, then showed me to a room. "This is where you'll be staying during your time at Castle Bleck. When we meet you will go down the hall and into that big room."

He turned to face me. "Nastasia didn't tell me your name." I looked around the room before responding. "I was told it's Mr. L."

He just laughed. "Mr. L?  What does L stand for, loser?" I glared back. "Hey! It stands for...." I stopped myself. I knew what it stood for, but I don't think I'm supposed to really tell anyone. He just smiled and floated to the door. "My room is down to the right of yours. Please don't disturb me. Ciao, Mr. L~!"

With that, he left. I smiled to myself.

I like that guy. He seems interesting.

Later Nastasia came up to me, finally offering me my first real mission. Stop the heroes. Oh, I've been waiting for this! I couldn't wait to show Mario and the heroes what I was capable of. I've been preparing Brobot, my mechanical brother, for this. This was it. Mr. L's time to shine!

Only, I managed to somehow get beat. I don't know how, but I did. It should have been impossible, with my mechanical brother and everything, but they still beat me! Hmm, these heroes were stronger than I thought.

But, I must not give up hope. I'll find a way to stop these heroes. Then everyone will be impressed.

I'll just tell the guys back home that I was simply scouting. I didn't want them to think I lost.

Once I got back, I immediately got to work, modifying and improving my Brobot. This time I wouldn't fail. Not with all these new features.

I felt like I was being watched. I turned to see Dimentio standing in the doorway. "Ah ha ha, did the heroes mess up your mechanical brother?" I felt slightly embarrassed, but kept my cool. I didn't want to seem like a failure to him. "No! I was simply scouting them. I let them win!"

I think we both knew that wasn't true. "Sure, sure," He teased. I just scoffed and got back to work. "With the new updates I'm making to this baby, I'll be sure to stop them!"

What was with the sarcasm? Did he not believe I could do it? Whatever. I'll prove him wrong. I'll show him that I'm capable.

Later Nastasia told me to go remind Dimentio about a meeting we were all having in about 30 minutes, since no one had seen him for a few hours. So I made my way to his room. While I was walking there, I saw Mimi run past me with an evil grin on her face, but I didn't think much of it.

I got to his room and knocked. "MIMI, THAT BETTER BE YOU!" He called. He seemed mad. How pleasant. I opened the door.

Funny I've never seen his room before.

He groaned. He was lying on his bed with his back to me. He looked like a little blob. "Whoa, what happened to you?" I asked. He snapped his fingers, making locks appear on the door. "Remind me never to let anyone in this room. Ever." I just rolled his eyes. "The meeting is in 30 minutes. I was told to remind you." He groaned even more. "I don't think I'm going. That stupid little girl took my mask."

I chuckled. That's why he's all upset?

"OH, WHAT, YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY??" He yelled. I stepped back and smirked. "Yes. Yes I do. You're all upset over a mask?" Dimentio nodded, still covering his face and looking away from me.

It would be easy to just walk over and see what his face looked like, but....

He was really upset over this. Must be a personal thing. "Hold on a minute."

I left the room, and started running down the hall. "MIMI? WHERE ARE YOU?"

I eventually found her. Sure enough, she had Dimentio's mask. "Mr. L? What do you want?" I held out my hand. "I need you to give me Dimentio's mask." She looked a little shocked. "What? What do you want with Dimentio's mask?" I shrugged. "To give it back to him." She gave me a condescending look. "How boring. Why do you care?" I shrugged again. "He seems very upset about it."

She started giggling. "Again, why do you care?" I rolled my eyes. "Just give it back. He won't go to the meeting without it."

"Funny, like I would just give it to you. No no no, I'm gonna need something in return...."

Oh Great. I started rubbing my temples. "Sure. Name your price." She smiled an evil smile. "I want to see you without your mask!"

I hesitated. I never took my mask off either. I liked keeping it on. It made me feel less like Luigi and more like myself. Plus, I was specifically instructed by Nastasia to never let anyone see my face. "Really? That's what you want?" She shrugged. "Yeah. I mean, I've never seen your face either. But....I also get to ask you a question. And you HAVE to answer 100% honestly."

I sighed, and looked at Dimentio's mask in her hand. "....Very well." I reached up and slowly took the black mask off. "There? Happy?" She giggled, then pulled out a camera and took a picture. "Hey! What was that for??" She giggled some more. "Blackmail!" I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. Can you give me Dimentio's mask back now?" She smiled and twirled it around her finger. "Nope! First, you gotta answer my question."

"Okay. And what would that be?"

"....Why do you care about getting Dimentio's mask back so much?"

I shrugged. "I don't know."

She shook her head. "That's not an answer. Try again." I shook my head. "It's the only answer I can come up with!" She looked at the clock. "There's about 15 minutes left until the meeting. Do you want his mask back or not? Tick tock, Mr. L."

"I'm telling the truth. I. DON'T. KNOW!!!" She giggled. Why was she always giggling? It was so annoying.

"It wouldn't have to do with the fact that you LOVE him, would it?"

What did she just say?

"What?? I don't love him! The very thought of love is preposterous! Why would you say that??"

She smiled. "Please, Mr. L. You're not fooling anyone. Just admit it and I'll give you Dimentio's mask back! Time's running out...." I shook my head. "I don't know what you're talking about! I never said I loved him! I barely KNOW him!" She twirled around, playing with Dimentio's mask. "Oh, please. It's SO OBVIOUS! Honestly, Mr. L, why else would you be here?" A shocked look covered my face. I really wish I had my mask on. I felt so exposed. Suddenly, she handed his mask over to me. "Here. The look on your face tells me my answer. Oh, and by the way, good luck with that." I raised an eyebrow. "Huh?" She looked into my eyes. "Good luck with Dimentio. You're gonna need it. He doesn't tend to open up to anyone. No one ever really knows what he's thinking. Plus...."

I cocked my head to the side. "Plus?" She sighed. "Look, I love the guy, but....sometimes he gives me bad vibes. Just, be careful around him. I wouldn't put my full trust in him."

She then turned around and started skipping away, leaving me speechless. How DARE she make assumptions about me! Whatever.

She's wrong!

I put my own mask back on. "That's better."

Before heading back to Dimentio's room to return the mask, I looked down at it. I ran my fingers over it. It was smooth.

"Mimi's wrong...." I told no one in particular, before heading to Dimentio's room to return it.

I wonder what his real face looks like.

Maybe someday I'll find out. Or not. It doesn't matter.

I knocked on his door. "Dim?" I asked.

There was no response. I waited about a minute before sighing and sliding the mask under the door. I briefly leaned my forehead against his door, before walking away.

From there on, I tended to want to hang out with Dim more. I don't know why. I just found that I enjoyed his company.

It had nothing to do with what Mimi said.

One day while I was making some adjustments to my Brobot L-type, he asked me why I was calling him 'Dim'

To be honest, I haven't thought of it much. "Dim is just faster to say."

He just laughed. "Well, can't really argue with that." I smiled. "You can call me L if you'd like. That way we'd both have nicknames."

I could feel my face heat up when he smiled. It didn't look like his usual smile. It looked like a real, genuine smile.

"Alright, L."

It was at that moment that I realized....

Mimi was right.

Oh my Grambi, she was right. I did love him. Why though? I shouldn't feel this way.

But I do....

And, I don't know....a part of me thinks he feels it too.

.....

But boy, was I wrong.

Once the heroes defeated me for the second time, in the destroyed world, my whole perception of love would be shattered.

"I don't know what it is about those guys, but I just can't seem to beat them." I said to myself.

Then I heard him laugh. His beautiful laugh.

"Aha ha ha. Did they wound your fragile pride, Mr. L? Demolish your robot again?"

A somewhat shocked look spread over my face as Dim appeared, but I was immediately put at ease when I saw it was him.

"Oh, it's you again Dimentio. I'm stumped. You'd think a giant robot would be enough to crush these heroes."  I turned away, feeling like a failure. "I'm a disgrace. There's no way I could show my face to Count Bleck after this."

I wanted to keep the 'tough guy' act up, but didn't bother. Dimentio was here, and I felt like I didn't have to act all cocky when he was around. I let my true emotions show, in hopes that he would comfort me.

"Perhaps that is for the best,"

I froze. That wasn't what I expected him to say.

That wasn't what he was supposed to say.

I looked over at him. He looked distant. Cold.

He waved his arms, making a minor explosion go off right next to me. My eyes went wide as I jumped back. What was he doing???

"Whoa, Now! Hey! What are you doing?!"

"You said it yourself! You can't go back to the count now. So get lost."

Was he really saying this?? Why? I....I thought he liked me! And now he's telling me that I'm worthless and should get lost?? "Not a funny joke, Dimentio. If I wanted to laugh, your face is inspiration enough!"

Not that I've even seen his face.

"Such temper. Your nostrils, they flare out like the hood of a hissing cobra." I rolled my eyes at his simile, trying not to look hurt.

"I can't have you around the count. If I am rid of you here, I won't be found out." My eyes went wider. What was he going to do to me? "And the others will never find you. Yes, this is my moment to grasp. It's time for you to take your final bow, Mr. L."

He waved his arms, trapping me inside a transparent yellow box.  I looked around frantically. "Hey, now! Whoa! What's this? You've lost your mind, Dimentio!"

I started banging my fists on the wall. Why was he doing this?? He just smiled his stupid jester smile.

That wasn't the smile I fell in love with.

"Ah ha ha ha ha, Shhhhh. Don't worry. It won't be so bad, I promise. I'll send those heroes your way soon, just so you'll have someone to play with."

Oh Grambi.....he was going to kill me. He looked into my eyes. I felt afraid. Actually afraid. Why was he doing this?? Does he really hate me this much??

I silently mouthed,

"Dim, Please."

I was desperate. I don't know, I though that maybe if I used his nickname he'd feel something and spare me.

But that wasn't the case. I'm such an idiot.

Dimentio suddenly snapped his fingers, setting off a series of explosions.

The last words I could hear before everything went dark, "Ciao...Mr. L"

Just after the Ultimate show:

I woke up. From what, I do not know. How did I even get here?

The last thing I remember was....wait, that couldn't be right.

He was my friend. He couldn't have done that.

I looked around. Boy, was this place trashed.....wait a minute. I knew this place.

This is Castle Bleck! I'm home! But...it didn't look like home. What happened here?

There was a large crater in the floor. I slowly stood up. My head hurt.

"It's time for you to take your final bow, Mr. L"

"Gah!" I quickly stumbled backwards. "H-he killed me." I held my head and sat back down. "Dimentio, he killed me!" I looked around. But I wasn't dead. This wasn't the Underwhere.

"DIMENTIO?" I called out. I heard my voice echoed through the room.

No response.

"DIM? DIM, WHERE ARE YOU?"

I frantically looked around. What does someone do in this situation?? I was all alone! Where would I go?

I just waited. For three long days, I waited for someone. Anyone. But nobody came.

Eventually starvation caused me to leave. No one was coming for me. I guess no one cared enough. Heh...typical.

Years later:

It took me a while to come to terms with what happened, but eventually I accepted it. I heard stories about the psychotic clown who almost ended all worlds. I knew how it went down. My only friend killed me, then used me for his own plans. How peachy.

So I decided, friends aren't really for me.

I needed cash, and thieving wasn't really making me enough, so I had to get a part time job in my new home. I honestly don't even know where I am. Some random town. I know it's about an hour away from Sarasaland, and even further from the Mushroom Kingdom, so I shouldn't have to worry about running into Mario or something.

I wonder how he's doing. I mean, if I'm still here, then Luigi must be gone forever, Right? Mario must have been sad. Maybe he even cried, knowing his brother was gone. I wish I could see that. Mario crying must have been quite a show. But then again, if he saw me, he'd probably try to convince me to be his brother. Even though I'm not.

I found a small job, working at a simple shop. It was alright, I guess. I could get free shroom shakes whenever I wanted, it payed well, and the people working there were nice.

One girl working there in particular, her name was Val I think, was especially nice, but I made sure not to give her the wrong idea. I wasn't here to make friends. Just needed to survive.

"Come on L, we can do whatever you want. Just hang out with me! It'll be fun!" She cheerfully asked. She had dark brown hair, light blue eyes, and pale skin. She looked about a year younger than me. I shook my head. "Don't call me L, and sorry, Val. I'm busy tonight." She giggled. "You always say that. Come on. Why won't you hang out with me? We work together, we get along fine, why do you avoid going places after work??"

I held up my hands. "Sorry Val. I just don't do 'friends.'" She pouted. She was trying to use her puppy dog eyes to get me to go, but it wouldn't work.

She looked down and sighed. "L, I don't know what happened in the past to make you hate the idea of friendship. I don't know who hurt you, but whoever did...not everyone is like that. There are good people in the world. You don't need to shut everyone out." I crossed my arms. It didn't matter what she said, I wasn't going to change my mind. And she knew this.

"Again, don't call me L."

She sighed again. "I'll be at the hilltop by 6:00. I hope to see you there." She cleaned up her workspace and skipped out of the shop.

Yeah, she was nice, and I liked her, but also, I felt like she liked me too much, and I simply didn't return the feelings. It wasn't personal. I just didn't.

I don't think I can ever really be friends with someone again. Trust someone again.

.....but I don't know. I haven't had a friend since....well, Dimentio. She didn't seem like someone who would end up blowing me up.

5:30 rolled around. I closed up shop and stepped outside, when I heard the back door open. I quickly snapped around to see someone dash in and out. I could spot some light reflecting off a piece of metal attached to the thief's belt.

A sword.

Was MY shop getting robbed? Who robs a shop JUST after it's closed. Probably a beginner thief, someone new to the art. This wouldn't fly. I quickly stepped inside and grabbed one of the swords off the display. I'll put it back right after I put this thief in their place.

Daisy POV

It had been about a month since Dimentio died and Luigi left me.

I can't believe I was alone again.

I can't believe I let myself get so attached to them.

I don't even know where Luigi is now. I don't even know what I'm doing with my life anymore. I missed Dimentio. I missed Luigi.

I felt my stomach growl. Without Dimentio here just snapping his fingers and bringing us food, things were much more difficult.

I didn't even know where I was, but it didn't matter. There were stores here. I could easily get some cash for food. No problem.

I saw someone just closing up their shop. Ah, perfect. I quickly slipped in through the back door, grabbed the money, and got out. I then took off running, until I felt like I was far enough to let my guard down.

I relaxed, and pulled the new coins out. I counted them. I nagged about 1,000. Great!

I let out a sigh of relief, when I heard someone clear their throat from behind me. I quickly stuffed the cash into my inventory.

"Hey! You think I'm gonna let you just rob my store and get away with it??" The person asked me.

Great. I got caught.

I sighed and stood up, still facing away from him. I slowly reached my hand towards my sword.

I heard him laugh.

"I wouldn't play that game, if I were you."

I smirked. "Oh, I'm not worried. I've never lost."

I quickly drew my sword with my left hand and turned around, preparing to strike him down, when he pulled out his own sword and blocked my attack. "W-What the heck??" I muttered, a slightly surprised expression on my face.

I could see him better now. He was smirking. He wore a green hat with a backwards L on it. He had on a black jumpsuit with two golden buttons. He also wore a green bandana around his neck and a black mask over his face.

He laughed. Did he think this was funny? I needed that money. I turned around and tried hitting him again, but he managed to block it yet again.

"Having fun with that, dearest?" He asked. I felt my face heat up and turn red. "Oh, now you're really ticking me off!" I started quickly swinging at him from all different angles. He just stood there, using his sword to block every single attack.

"Alright, enough fooling around!" I yelled. We continued fencing back and forth.

I could see him yawn. HE WAS YAWNING??? HOW WAS HE DOING THIS?

Alright, time to get serious.

I held my sword up and prepared to swing for him again, when he grabbed my wrist, knocked my sword away, and kicked me back.

I was about to get up, when he towered over me and pointed the sword at my throat. I froze.

He held his hand out. "My money?" He asked. I looked down.

".....Please. I need it."

He wavered for a second, before sighing. He threw his sword to the side and offered me his hand to help me up. I looked at it, then smiled and took it. He helped me up so we were standing face to face.

"H-how did you do that? No one can beat me at swordplay, yet you did it so easily."

He just smirked. "I am a man of many talents."

I got a closer look at his eyes. They were....familiar. Now that I think about it, his voice was familiar too....

"Here, I'll give you 500 of my own coins. Just don't steal from my shop, got it?" He asked. I slowly nodded, and gave him back the money he stole. He handed me a small back of coin in exchange.

How kind of him.

"Why are you giving me this?" I asked. He shrugged. "Because I know what it's like to be desperate for money. Looking at you, I'd guess you haven't had a good meal in about a month or so?"

I rolled my eyes. "Hey, quit making assumptions about me!" He just smirked again. "Am I wrong?"

I crossed my arms. He laughed.

His laugh....it was so familiar.

"D-do I know you?" I asked. He shook his head. "Nope. I've never seen you before in my life, sweetheart." I crossed my arms. This caused him to smile.

Wait...that smile.

My eyes went wide.

"Wait.......Luigi?"

Mr. L POV

My face's expression shifted from charming and cocky, to shocked. "What did you call me?"

Did she just say....Luigi?

She stepped forward and grabbed my chin, slowly examining my face. I was kinda weirded out. "Uhh, have you ever heard of personal space, dearest?"

There were tears forming in her eyes. Umm, what the heck? Why was she getting all emotional.

"Luigi...what happened to you?"

I smacked her hand away. "That's a little to close for comfort." She cocked her head to the side. "Luigi...I-" I quickly interrupted her. "Luigi, Luigi, Luigi. You know....I haven't heard that name in a long time....."

The girl looked pretty confused. "Luigi? What are you talking about." I shrugged. "Sorry, Dear. But Luigi hasn't been here since the Ultimate show."

This seemed to confuse her even more. "The Ultimate Show? What?" I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. The Ultimate show. Don't tell me you don't know about the Ultimate Show." She slowly shook her head. I laughed. "What, do you live under a rock??" This seemed to tick her off. Her face got all red and puffy. How cute. "Luigi, I don't know what you're trying to pull, but it's not working! Where have you been? I've been looking all over for you for the past month!!"

I was about to continue trying to tick her off, when I stopped. "Wait, month?"

She nodded. "Yeah! Ever since we split, I have been worried sick! I don't know where you went or if you were okay. I was scared!"

I shook my head. She saw Luigi a month ago?? Impossible! "What? You must be mistaken. Luigi's been gone for years. He's not here anymore. There's only me."

She cocked her head to the side again. "Why are you acting so strange. And you're dressed strange too."

"I'm sorry, dearest. But I'm not Luigi. I have no idea who you are. I suggest you take the money and leave. And please, don't mention anything about 'Luigi' being here to anyone. I'm not Luigi."

She shook her head. "Luigi, oh, you poor man. That book must be messing with your head"

Um, what is she, braindead?

"Quit calling Me Luigi. I am not he. He is not me! So shut your face."

I looked down at my watch. 6:05. Sorry Val. Looks like I wont make it.

Ehh, I didn't really want to go anyway. This was far more interesting. Was Luigi alive on his own? That was impossible. I thought we shared this body. How could this be?

I turned around. I had to get home. Something wasn't right. This girl just showed up, talking about Luigi, and this book. Something was up.

I sighed, before smiling. "Well, as fun as this conversation has been, I must be off. Until next time!"

I turned around and started running off. She called after me. "Luigi, wait!" I ignored her.

Luigi was alive, and with this woman a month ago. This was huge. This meant that we have both found a way to exist simultaneously.

Third Person POV

A group of men were drinking the night away, when one stumbled outside. He decided to go for a little walk, because the cool air felt nice.

"Luigi, wait!" He heard a female voice call.

What was with all the rubble?

The man pulled out a wanted poster. His eyes went wide. He looked over and saw a man running.

Wait a minute.... that was the man from the poster!

He sneakily followed 'Luigi' all the way over to a small shop. He saw 'Luigi' return some money, and close up.

"Oh, I'm gonna be rich!" He said, as he walked back to his friends.
