"Eva, before you go out to tuck the girls in, you should finish getting ready," Tristan says stopping Eva from leaving the room.
"What do you mean? The stylist you sent up finished with my hair and makeup, I'm fully dressed, even have the torture device known as high heels on. What more is there?"
Tristan comes over to her and hands her a box, "This, please wear it. It goes along with a set I got for tomorrow night."
Eva opens the box and puts her hand up to her mouth to hide the gasp as she sees the diamond and sapphire necklace. She looks up at Tristan's expectant face, "Tris, I'm not with you for things, you know that, right?"
Tristan smiles at Eva softly as he gently caresses her cheek. "I know, that's why I bought this. You don't ask for anything and even fight me a bit on getting things. To see you actually get more than just the two dresses you needed gives me hope. Hope that you will remain in my life even after tomorrow night. But even if you don't I want you to accept this and what I'll give you tomorrow night to wear to the gala. I meant it when I said I wouldn't allow you to be mocked and the high society bitches would if you don't have the bling.
"You don't need it, Eva. Your smile is more brilliant than any jewel I've ever seen. You take my breath away with your beauty and nothing compares to that, Eva. But there are many that are too blind to see true beauty and look for the artificial enhancers, such as this.
"If you stay with me, I hope you will continue to accept of my gifts. But I am well aware that nothing I can gift you will come close to what you will be gifting me. My love is yours, Eva. Yours and only yours. But it pales in comparison to what you give me each moment we are together." Tristan tries to smile but fails.
He takes a deep breath and manages to control himself enough to get the rest out. "All that I have is yours, Eva. Everything. Just ask. You want my businesses? Done. You want my mafia? Done. If you ask for my death, done."
Eva looks at Tristan in shock. "Tris, I don't know what to say. I don't want any of that and you know it. Material things don't mean much to me. Never have, probably because I've never had any.
"I love you, Tristan. I don't need this or anything else. Just your love, trust and fidelity. That is what I ask of you." Eva says lightly running her fingers down his face.
Tristan closes his eyes then opens them with a smile, "Done." He takes out the necklace. "But I still want to spoil you occasionally with gifts." Tristan takes the necklace and places it on her neck. "Now, you are fully dressed. Would you like me to help you tuck the girls in?"
Eva smiles blindingly at Tristan, "They would like that. They really like you, Tristan. Especially Crystal."
Tristan snorts, "Yeah, right. She runs and hides whenever I come into the room. I fear that she sees me in the same light as your father." The thought makes him sad. He'd never hurt a child, especially not in that way.
"Tristan, she's just terribly shy. She chatters nonstop about you when you aren't in the room. She adores you." Eva says and smiles at Tristan's poleaxed expression.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, pretty sure. She asks about you constantly. She's always asking for you to come and visit."
Elenia has been teaching Yenni, English, but for the most part Elenia has to be there to translate for her. Yenni doesn't need Elenia to translate for Tristan and so she spends a great deal of time with him when he visits the girls. "She's a bit jealous that you spend so much time with Yenni and not as much with her, actually."
"What?" This shocks Tristan. He only spent so much time with Yenni because he thought Crystal didn't want to be around him.
Eva gives him a teasing look. "I think she has a bit of a crush, but she's too shy to do anything about it."
By then they are in the girls room and Tristan can't help himself and gives Eva a kiss. A long, deep and very passionate kiss. He only breaks it up as he hears a throat clear. Only then does he realize that they have three sets of very curious eyes upon them. All three of them full of amusement. Two of them also a bit confused.
Tristan turns away trying to get his burning face back to normal. Eva also feels her face is more than a little red but she ignores it as she goes to the girls. She tucks them in and gives them both kisses. "Mommy, you look beautiful. Just like an angel." Crystal says as Eva sits next to her.
Eva smiles at Crystal and then over to Yenni. She sees Elenia talking to Yenni and then Yenni nods her head rapidly and says, "Si, mi madre es como una angel." Then she smiles brightly.
Eva looks to Elenia, "She said that yes, her mother does look like an angel." Elenia smiles hiding her tears at her daughters words.
"Elenia," Eva says softly.
"It's okay. It's the price I have to pay to keep the secret, Eva. It's better this way." Elenia says this in words too soft for either child to hear.
"Mommy, can Tristan read us the story tonight?" Crystal asks once Eva stops hugging Elenia.
Eva looks to Tristan and smiles. "I don't know, why don't you ask him if he would like that?"
"Tristan, would you read to us tonight?" Crystal looks at Tristan hopefully and holds the book to him.
Tristan smiles softly and says, "I'd be honored to read you a story tonight girls." Tristan goes over to Crystal's bed and takes the book she holds out to him. Eva moves out of the way so that Tristan can sit by Crystal as he opens the book.
Once he's done they tell the girls goodnight then leave the room.
"Did you ask Crystal to have me read to them?" Tristan asks after they leave the room.
Eva shakes her head, "Nope. I only told her to ask you after she asked me if you could read to them. That was all her doing, Tris. I told you she adores you."
Tristan pulls Eva into his arms and hugs her tight. He wipes away the tears that leak out of his eyes at her words. He loves those little girls so much, almost as much as he loves Eva.
"Come on, we'll be late for our reservations." Tristan does his best to get things out of the emotional scene they are currently in.
Eva snorts. "Oh please, you own the restaurant. There's no way they are going to give our table away."
Tristan smirks, "You are right. But it's still rude to be late."
"Yeah, it is." Eva says as she catches up her clutch that goes with the dress. Tom and RJ fall behind them as they leave the penthouse.
Ever since the warning was left in Eva's apartment Tristan won't let Eva go anywhere without at least two people as guards.
