The One

Maddie's POV

I stood at the intersection the letter had told me to wait at, my hands stuffed into the pockets of my velvety black jacket to protect me from the chilly wind.

"So, you decided to show up," A girl in a red hoodie turned the corner, approaching me. Pulling the hood off her head, she showed her face. It was Leah.

"Hey Leah," I smiled. "Are you in...you know..."

"The Intelligence? Yeah," she beamed. "I'm a member, you can say it. I'm actually here to take you to HQ."

"From here?" I asked, looking confused.

"Yep!" Leah grinned, running over to a nearby manhole and heaving the cover off.

"State your credentials," droned a mechanical voice from inside the sewer.

"Leah Meredith Summers, Intelligence member," Leah yelled down into it. "And one guest!"

"Access granted," said the mechanical voice. I gasped as glass rose out of the ground, surrounding both me and Leah in transparent boxes. With a giant whoosh, the street caved in and we began to slowly descend underground. The street fixed itself above us and the cover slid back onto the manhole, leaving us in complete darkness.

A few seconds later, lights flickered on, revealing the huge metal tube we were in. We hit the bottom with a thunk, and the boxes we were in dissolved. We were in some kind of holding chamber, with steel walls and floors.

"Leah! You're here!" One of the panels in the chamber's wall slid away, and a cheery looking girl with reddish brown hair and glasses stepped through the opening.

*Picture of Selena*

"OMG, is that Madeline Udana!?" The girl squealed.

"Yeah," Leah nodded. "I know, she's finally here! Maddie, this is Selena. Selena, Maddie."

"Hi Selena," I smiled, shaking the girls hand.

"I'm so excited!" Selena grinned. "The Head Trumpist has been talking about you since forever!"

Leah and Selena led me through a long hallway filled with young Trumpists carting equipment around and darting from room to room, scribbling on their notepads. They all looked very serious and purposeful.

Finally, we reached a tall door of rich wood which bore a golden plaque. Head Trumpist Summers was etched into the metal.

"Leona!" Leah yelled, banging on the door.

"Huh?" The door swung open and a young girl who looked like a smaller version of Leah stepped out. I recognized her as Leticia, the youngest Summers sister.

"Letty? What are you doing here?" Leah raised an eyebrow. "Where's Leona?"

"She's busy," said Leticia. "Do you need something?"

"Get out of the way, Letty, this is important," Leah snapped, attempting to push her little sister out of the doorway.

"Okay, she's in the training room, but you really don't want to disturb her! Don't say I didn't warn you!" Leticia called after us as we walked through the Head Trumpist's spacious office and through a back door which opened up into an even bigger arena of sorts.

The Head Trumpist stood in the middle of it with her feet slightly spread apart and a gun in each hand.

"Level 254 of Trump Annihilator commencing in 3...2...1..." an automated voice echoed through the speakers that filled the room. When it finished, blue lights instantly turned on and two life-size cutouts of a smiling President Trump zoomed into view on wheels.

In one fluid motion, Leona Summers raised her arms, shooting both cutouts in the head. I stared in awe as more Trumps zigzagged across the floor, all swiftly shot down by the Head Trumpist. She cartwheeled and limboed through rows of laser beams, shooting the Trumps through the gaps in the deadly red light. Finally, the lasers and the Trumps disappeared.

"Level 254 complete," said the automated voice.

"No!" Leah yelled, rushing over to her sister. "You beat my high score!"

"Well, of course," the Head Trumpist smirked. "I'm so much better at Trump Annihilator than you."

"No you're not!" Leah frowned. "Anyway, Maddie's here."

"Oh, hi Maddie, hi Selena! I didn't see you guys there because someone was in my face!" Leona gave Leah a vicious glare.

"Hello...Head Trumpist Summers?" I said hesitantly, not sure whether she wanted me to address her by her title.

"It's just Leona in the Intelligence," she smiled. "I'm not the Head Trumpist, Leah's not a TV star, and Letty isn't a famous child prodigy. Down here, we're all just one thing. Rebels."

I like her already.

"Okay, so, let's get started with your examination. It'll determine your place in the Intelligence, but don't worry, it's nothing like the Circles. You're going to be playing a special stage of Trump Annihilator that was designed to test new Intelligence members. Good luck!" Leona gave me an encouraging look and unclipped the the game controller from the waistband of her pants, handing it to me.

I attached the tiny square to my own pants and it instantly began to glow red.

"Since this level has a very unique layout that can't be replicated in this room, you'll have to enter a sim to complete it," Leona explained, clicking something on the remote in her hand. The familiar gray helmet came down from the ceiling, fastening itself around my head.

Ugh, not this again! I hated simulations! They were far too realistic for my liking.

"It's alright, the sim is very short," Leona reassured me when she saw my flustered look. "And there are only two tasks. Survive, and kill Trump. We will be evaluating how successful you are with each task to decide what your Intelligence status will be. Also, there are exactly three bullets in your gun. Good luck!"

The rubber began to press into my skin, and I was transported into an artificial world.

I stood atop a flaming skyscraper with my clothes tattered and my hair in a messy bun. In my hand was a gun which, according to Leona, only had three bullets. I had to conserve those, one of my tasks was killing Trump, and so far, the gun was the only thing I could do it with.

But first, I had to find him. I ran across the roof, dodging flames and surveying the area. To my surprise and horror, I realized that the entire city was on fire, and it wasn't just any city. It was Trump City. Of course, as usual, finding Trump didn't take long.

"There she is! She was the one who did it!" The obnoxious President screeched. I looked up to see his hideous orange face sticking out of a helicopter as he pointed at me with a gnarled finger. "She set my city on fire! She's going to pay!"

The helicopter began to descend onto the roof, and I raised the gun, taking a shot at the ruler of Trumperica. The bullet banged against the side of the helicopter, denting it. One shot down, and Trump was still untouched.

I looked around, surveying my options. The helicopter was about to land behind me, and there was no way I could enter the building. Judging from the height of the flames on the roof, it was probably an inferno in there. Suddenly, I saw a severed telephone wire hanging a few feet away from the edge of the skyscraper. Sprinting toward it just as the helicopter's doors opened, I leaped as far as I could, grabbing hold of the wire and swinging Tarzan-style to a lower, less flame covered roof.

No wonder they use sims to train TG's, I thought, amazed by my sudden agility. I had only been in two, and I already reacted faster in stressful situations and dared to do things I never would've attempted before.

Slipping through a hole in the roof, I landed inside the smaller building. It was a MacDonalds. Judging from the unfinished meals and purses that lay strewn across the tables, its occupants had left in a hurry. Running into the kitchen, I grabbed the longest, sharpest knife I could find and exited the MacDonalds.

"She's on the ground!" I heard Trump scream as his helicopter began to turn around, following me. I ran as fast as I possibly could through the toxic haze, blinking away tears from the smoke and trying not to breathe to avoid the acrid smell.

"Destroy her!" Trump bellowed. Somehow, despite the noise, I could always hear him clearly.

A team of six TG's ran out in the street adjacent to the one I was on from behind a building in their full red uniforms, hefting heavy machine guns. I snuck up behind them and shot two of them in the head, using my last two bullets. I grabbed a fallen TG's gun and shot the rest of them before they realized what was going on. Good, now I had way more than three chances to kill Trump.

"You can't escape now!" The President cackled, and I saw him walk out of the smoke surrounded by TG's. His suit was still miraculously crisp and clean.

I looked up just in time to see a gigantic flaming metal beam falling just above me, but too late to completely dodge it. I managed to sort of roll to the side, avoiding being smashed by the beam, but the fire still caught my left half, soon enveloping my entire body in flames. My gun was crushed.

The pain was excruciating, dizzying. I felt like every cell in my body was simultaneously exploding, yet, I told myself I couldn't give up. Complete the task, Maddie.

Drawing the MacDonalds knife, I let out an inhuman roar and ran at Trump.

This is the man who destroyed your country.

I opened my burning arms, setting every TG I touched on fire.

This is the man who ruined your life.

I touched the knife to my chest, causing it to erupt in flames.

This is the man who messed up the world.

I plunged the knife into Trump's heart, and the sim went black.

"Maddie? Maddie! Are you okay?" I awoke curled up on the floor, covered in sweat, with the sim helmet a few inches away from me.

"Yeah," I nodded, wiping my eyes, smoothing back my hair and standing up.

"You did amazingly on the tests!" Leona beamed, approaching me.

"Yeah! You need to watch the replay of you on fire, walking around and burning all those TG's, and finally killing Trump. It was freaking epic!" Leah exclaimed.

"Maddie Udana, I'd like to congratulate you," Leona smiled. "I've been thinking about this for months, but now, I know it's true. You are destined for great things. You are the person I've been looking for for years. You are what Intelligence members know as the One."

"She's the One!?" Selena gasped, stepping forward with awe and reverence.

"Yes," Leona grinned proudly. "From now on, Maddie, the Intelligence will train you for one purpose and one purpose only. The assassination of President Donald Trump."

A/N: I know, this is the second scene so far about killing Trump! Hopefully, there will be even more!
