Chapter Eight
Tia's P.O.V.
"There is no way, I am kissin' a frog, and eatin' a bug, on the same day." That was final. Just because I was a frog now, didn't mean I was going to let 'froggy instincts' take over and eat any insect in sight. I shivered. Gross.
Plus, I had a feeling the bug my tongue was forcing me to go to was someone I knew.
I tried covering my mouth to stop myself from eating the bug, but it shot out and--became tangled with Naveen's frog tongue, which forced us together, causing us to meet lips in the process. I blushed, but it couldn't be seen on my green skin, and for that, I was grateful.
"Hey, guys, you find anything to eat ye--oh. Here! Let me try!"
And that was how we ended up tangled in each other's tongues, our bodies pressed together and someone's glowing butt trying to get us untied. Which, if you haven't figured, would be Ray the Firefly. I loved the little guy to death. He reminded so much of a friend of mine in the real world. The world which I need to get back to.
Once our tongues were finally loose, Ray introduced himself to us after telling us we were going in the wrong direction in order to see Mama Odie. Turns out, getting directions from a Gator in the Byou wasn't so smart. So Ray and his family helped get us on the right trail with the musical 'Take You There'. I loved Ray. He was just so cute, and adorable, and-
"Just do not settle down so quickly, my friend."
I rolled my eyes at Naveen's non-existent-advice-giving ability. He was such a prude. Ray had been going on about his girlfriend, Evangeline, which if I remember correctly, was the biggest, and brightest Star in the night sky.
While fighting my way through pricker bushes and Naveen's constant nagging, something swooped him up and into a net. I gasped and snapped my head up. I had totally forgot about the Hunters. I hopped away from Two Fingers--who had caught me between his only two fingers on his right hand--and managed to escape him by bending them back and avoiding his throwing knives.
I continued to hop for my life as the big lug of a Hunter slipped in the mud, causing me to fly up from the log I had been on as he squished Two Fingers with his weight, and I landed in the cage they had set up. Oh no. I tried to get out, only for Two Fingers to sit on the metal cage and slam his fist against it. I couldn't escape. And by now, Naveen was already free because of Ray going up the Hunter's nose. But where was he?
A loud thud against the boat made me look around, already knowing it had been Naveen. The Hunters then began hitting each other with their clubs, fists, and guns over and over again. Naveen had jumped onto one of the Hunter's faces and caused Two Fingers to get up off the cage as I made my escape, but saved Naveen in return from being shot. Then we caused the Hunter's to beat themselves up until they all collapsed into their tiny little boat.
"These two. . .ain't like no frogs I ever seen. They smart," one of the Hunter's said, and we hopped down in front of him.
I grinned widely, knowing exactly what to say to him next. "And we talk, too."
Then they were speeding off.

"I adore you. I love you." I gave Naveen a suspiscious look with a raised eyebrow. "Just translating," he gestured up at Ray, who was currently singing to his love, 'Ma Belle Evangeline', who was indeed, a Star.
As Ray continued singing, Naveen decided to pull me up and twirl me around. I pushed him away. One thing me and the real Tiana had in common? We both couldn't dance. "I've never danced," I mumbled, gazing into the lake water on the lily pad I had hopped to. With a small yank, Naveen had pulled my lily pad beside his, and pulled me once again against his chest.
"If I can mince, you can dance," he replied, since I had made the same swamp gumbo Tiana had made, and forced Naveen to mince some mushrooms. Then we were dancing. Well, at least he was. I was just letting him spin my legs about. I really never was good at this sort of thing.
With Ray singing in the background and Naveen twirling me both under and below the lake's water, I was actually having fun. Who knew dancing could be this much fun? When the music came to an end with Louis playing his trumpet, Naveen dipped me down on the lily we had landed on, and was now leaning in even closer than before. I held my breath and felt my eyes close of their own accord.
Then they shot open at the realization that Naveen was going to marry Charlotte once we got back. And I still planned on going home.
So I stopped him from trying to kiss me and suggested we get going, until-
"TIANA!"
I gasped and looked back to see some shadows dragging Naveen away. "NAVEEN!" The three of us--me, Louis, and Ray--chased after him as the shadows continued to drag him away, until a bright yellow light hit the shadow that had taken Naveen, evaporating it from existence along with the other three shadows as Naveen crashed into the lake water. Another shadow, only this one more stoicier, came walking out of the fog around us to reveal a stout woman with shades and wearing a white and gold dress, her feet bare of any shoes.
"Not bad for a hundred ninety-seven-year-old blind lady. Now which one of you naughty dearies, been messin' with the Shadow Man?"
We all pointed to Naveen in answer.
