I ran downstairs in a conflicted manner; it's not possible that Lauren would be in my house at this time of the night.

"Thank you for coming," I heard Mom say as she stood by the door.

I came over, and to my surprise, what I thought was a hallucination turned out to be real. Lauren was really at my house, along with Jade.

"What the heck are you doing here?" I exclaimed.

"Oh my gosh! There she is," said Lauren as she shifted Mom away and approached me.

I laughed, nervous as heck. What is happening?

"Hey! What are you doing here?" I asked, sharing my stare between her and Mom's dumbfounded look.

Mom was about to reply to my question when Lauren cut her off and answered on her behalf, "Actually, Hannah, I am here to talk about your grades. You didn't tell your mom, did you?"

Lauren said as she slightly bent her head over to my side, our eyes locking. What is happening? I don't get it.

"Yes, baby, Mrs. Veronica came to tell me that you were chosen as the best student of the month. Why didn't you tell me?" Mom asked, taking my hand by her side.

"Yes, Hannah! Why didn't you?" Jade chimed in.

Still stuck on what was happening, I watched as Mom invited Lauren and Jade for dinner.

The anger Cassandra felt when her grandma called me over to stay for lunch, I felt double as she did. After all, I knew who Lauren and Jade were and what they were here for. Meanwhile, I came so I could save Cassandra from being harmed by Lauren.

Tension built up as we all sat down to eat. Mom asked me to serve Lauren and Jade since they were our guests. As much as I wanted to send them away, I couldn't do anything to trigger Mom's suspicion. After all, she had no clue that I was a werewolf.

After dinner, Mom took the plates to the kitchen but asked me to walk Lauren and Jade to their car outside. I followed Jade and Lauren to their car outside my house.

"Please, tell me what the heck you're doing," I said, stopping walking to their car and making both of them turn to look at me.

"What do you mean?" Lauren asked, turning to Jade. "Did we do anything wrong?" she grinned.

"No, Lauren, we didn't do anything wrong, but we came here for something," Jade explained, causing me to ponder.

"What are you saying?" I asked, vexed.

"Nothing, Hannah. However, you're in deep trouble," Jade said as her eyes turned back to Lauren.

I turned as well. "What are you saying?" I asked.

Lauren looked at my front door before responding, "You had the audacity to go speak with Cassandra! Why did you do that, Hannah? You're making me want to actually harm you," her voice filled with rage, if only for a moment.

"Wait! Don't tell me Cassandra called and told you I went to her house?" I asked with a frown on my face.

"Yeah, obviously," Jade responded.

Here I am trying to help Cassandra, yet she isn't making things easier for me. I don't get it. Why does she trust Jade so much?
