Chapter-86: Happily Ever After
The wedding day dawned bright and filled with excitement. Manik and Nandini, after all the waiting and longing, were finally ready for the moment they had dreamed of. As the preparations wrapped up, laughter and cheer filled every corner of the venue. Friends and family hustled and bustled to make everything perfect, and the energy was simply electric.
Manik was dressed in a classic ivory sherwani with delicate gold embroidery, every detail accentuating his handsome, dignified look. He adjusted his sehra one last time in front of the mirror, barely able to contain his excitement. Dhruv and Abhimanyu stood beside him, grinning from ear to ear, while Cabir teased relentlessly.
“Nervous, jiju?” Cabir quipped, smirking as he nudged Manik. “This is it. No going back now!”
Manik chuckled, rolling his eyes. “As if I’d ever want to go back. I’ve been waiting forever for this day.”
Dhruv joined in with a grin. “Well, if you’re too eager, let’s get going! You don’t want to be late to your own wedding.”
The barat set out with lively dhol beats and cheerful shouts, making its way to the venue. As they arrived, the beautiful entrance was decorated with flowers and twinkling lights, and the joyous energy was palpable. Vishakha stood at the entrance, ready to welcome Manik formally.
With a playful glint in her eyes, she greeted him, “Well, well, the great Manik Malhotra finally at our doorsteps. You’re very lucky, you know that?”
Manik flashed a confident smile. “Trust me, I know it.”
As she performed the welcoming rituals, Soha and Navya teased him, placing a garland of marigolds around his neck. “You’d better behave,” Navya teased, her eyes dancing with mischief, “or you’ll have to answer to all of us!”
Manik laughed. “I think I’m outnumbered here!”
Finally, he made his way to the stage, where he waited with anticipation. The crowd settled down, and all eyes turned toward the entrance as Vishakha, Cabir, Soha, and Navya headed to Nandini’s room to escort the bride.
In Nandini’s room, everything was calm yet filled with a quiet anticipation. Dressed in a stunning red lehenga with intricate golden embroidery, Nandini looked breathtakingly beautiful. Her jewelry sparkled as the lights caught her every movement, and the delicate ornaments in her hair only added to her radiant appearance. She was a vision of grace and elegance, her eyes shining with both excitement and emotion.
Cabir’s eyes softened as he took in his sister, his voice catching in his throat. “You look… just perfect, Nandini.”
Vishakha, unable to hide her emotions, stepped forward, her hand touching Nandini’s cheek. “My little girl… you’re all grown up.”
Nandini’s eyes moistened at their words, but she quickly composed herself. “Please, no more tears,” she pleaded, laughing through her own misty eyes. “You’re going to make me cry too!”
Just then, Bela and Mahir entered, both of them equally emotional. Bela took Nandini’s hands in her own, her voice choked with emotion. “You have no idea how happy I am for you, Princess. This day… it’s everything we hoped for you.”
Mahir gave her a tight hug. “You’ll always be our princess, remember that.”
With warm smiles and light laughter, they began escorting her down the aisle. Manik, waiting at the stage, turned as she entered, and his breath caught at the sight. Their gazes met across the room, and for a moment, it felt like they were the only two people there. Manik descended from the stage, meeting her halfway, and extended his hand to help her up. She placed her hand in his, and as she ascended the steps, they both felt a rush of overwhelming emotions.
As they stood facing each other, tears welled up in their eyes. The years of waiting, the challenges they had faced, and the love they had fought for – it all came together in this one, beautiful moment. Gently, Manik reached out, wiping away a tear from Nandini’s cheek, his own eyes glistening.
“I can’t believe we’re finally here,” he whispered, his voice soft and full of emotion.
Nandini smiled, her hand coming up to touch his face. “Me neither. But I’m so glad we made it.”
They exchanged a look, one filled with understanding and a deep love that didn’t need words. Together, they turned to the officiant, and the rituals began. As they circled the sacred fire, taking their vows, their hands intertwined, each promise sealed with silent resolve and love.
With every phera, they exchanged soft smiles, whispered promises, and glances that spoke of forever. The warmth and blessings of their families surrounded them, and each step felt like another step into their future together.
Finally, as the rituals came to an end, the officiant pronounced them husband and wife. A wave of applause and cheers erupted from the crowd as Manik gently placed the mangalsutra around Nandini’s neck, sealing their bond.
One by one, family and friends came forward to congratulate the newlyweds. Raj and Neyonika approached them first, pulling them both into warm hugs.
Neyonika beamed with pride. “You both make such a perfect pair.”
Raj nodded, patting Manik on the back. “Take care of each other always.”
Cabir was next, his eyes misty with emotion as he hugged his sister tightly. “I’m so happy for you, Nandini. And Manik, you better treat her like the queen she is.”
Manik grinned. “You have my word, Cabir.”
Navya and Soha joined in, showering Nandini with hugs and blessings, while Mukti, Alya, Dhruv, and Abhimanyu took turns congratulating the happy couple.
Mukti wiped a tear as she hugged Nandini. “I knew this day would come. You two were always meant for each other.”
Alya and Dhruv nodded in agreement, their smiles warm and full of happiness. “We’re so happy for you both,” Alya added, squeezing Nandini’s hand.
Abhimanyu patted Manik on the back. “You’ve got yourself a gem, my friend. Take care of her.”
Vishakha and Bela stepped forward together, their eyes filled with joy. Vishakha held Nandini’s hand, her gaze softening. “You’ve made us all so proud. May you both have a life filled with happiness and love.”
Manik held Nandini’s hand tightly, feeling the overwhelming emotions wash over him. As the night went on, they found small moments to exchange quiet words, stolen glances, and soft smiles, each one reinforcing the love and commitment they had just promised.
Finally, as the night began to wind down, Manik led Nandini to a quiet corner, away from the crowd. He looked at her, his eyes filled with wonder.
“We did it,” he whispered, his voice soft but filled with joy. “We’re really, truly married.”
Nandini smiled, her own eyes glistening. “Yes, we are. And I couldn’t be happier.”
He pulled her close, wrapping her in his arms. “Here’s to us,” he murmured, “to our new life together, to every adventure that’s waiting for us.”
Nandini nodded, resting her head on his shoulder. “Here’s to us.” And with that, they stood together, surrounded by the love of everyone dear to them, ready to face whatever came next.
As the celebration wound down, Manik and Nandini finally found a few moments to themselves, standing by the quiet garden outside the bustling wedding venue. The soft glow of fairy lights from the trees illuminated their faces, highlighting the love and joy sparkling in their eyes.
Manik gently held her hands, looking down at her with a tender smile. “Nandini, this is just the beginning of our forever. Everything we’ve been through led us to this moment.”
Nandini smiled back, her heart overflowing with emotion. “It’s surreal, Manik. I never imagined this day would feel so… perfect.”
He chuckled softly, pulling her closer as he wrapped his arms around her. “Perfect is an understatement when I’m with you. I can’t wait to start our life together, create memories, tackle every challenge, and cherish every little moment with you.”
They stood there in peaceful silence, absorbing the magnitude of the day. The gentle breeze rustled through the trees as they looked up at the star-lit sky, their fingers entwined, hearts beating as one.
Finally, Manik leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “Ready to go home, Mrs. Malhotra?”
Nandini laughed, her eyes lighting up. “Yes, Mr. Malhotra. Our forever starts now.”
With that, they walked hand in hand back toward the venue, where their family and friends awaited them. The love and laughter shared that night lingered like a beautiful melody, marking the beginning of their new life together.
And so, surrounded by love, warmth, and the promise of endless tomorrows, Manik and Nandini embarked on the journey of a lifetime, side by side, their hearts forever entwined.
