Chapter-27: Old Times

Nandini sat on her balcony, sipping her coffee and letting the cool evening breeze play with her hair. The city was slowly transitioning from the hustle and bustle of the day to the quiet serenity of the night. She wrapped her hands around her warm cup, her thoughts drifting back to her time with Manik. Memories flooded her mind, bringing a bittersweet smile to her face.

Flashback,

"Okay, team," the science teacher announced, "for this project, you'll need to create a volcano model. You'll present it to the class next week."

Nandini looked at the assignment, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She glanced at Manik, who was doodling in his notebook, completely unfazed.

"Hey, Manik," she whispered, "do you have any ideas for the volcano project?"

Manik looked up, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Yeah, we can make the coolest volcano ever! We'll use baking soda and vinegar to make it erupt. It'll be epic!"

Nandini hesitated, unsure if his idea would work. "Are you sure? It sounds a bit risky."

"Trust me, Nandini," Manik said with a grin, "it'll be awesome. Just wait and see."

Over the next week, they worked together on the project, spending hours after school at each other's houses. They laughed, argued, and teased each other, forming a bond that grew stronger with each passing day.

"Nandini, this is going to be legendary!" Manik whispered as they hid behind a bush near the principal's office.

"I don't know, Manik," Nandini replied, her heart racing. "What if we get caught?"

"Relax, we'll be fine," Manik assured her. "Okay, on the count of three, we release the balloons."

They had filled several balloons with water and hidden them in a net above the principal's door. The plan was to release the net and let the balloons drop as soon as the principal walked in.

"One, two, three!" Manik counted, and they both pulled the string.

The net released, and the balloons fell, splashing water everywhere. The principal, who had just walked in, was drenched. Manik and Nandini couldn't contain their laughter as they watched from their hiding spot.

The principal looked around, trying to find the culprits. "Who did this?" he shouted, but Manik and Nandini had already run off, giggling uncontrollably.

Later that day, the whole school was buzzing with the news of the prank. Everyone knew it was Manik and Nandini, even though they never admitted it. They became legends, and their classmates started calling them Rahul and Anjali, after the iconic characters from "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai."

One day, they were caught sneaking into the teacher's lounge to leave a surprise for their favorite teacher's birthday. The principal had been furious.

"Manik, Nandini, what were you thinking?" he demanded, glaring at them.

Manik, always the brave one, stepped forward. "It was my idea, sir. Nandini just helped me. If you're going to punish someone, punish me."

Nandini's eyes widened. "No, sir, it was my idea too. We both should be punished."

The principal looked at them, seeing their determination. "Fine, you'll both stay after school for a week. And you'll clean the science lab every day."

They accepted their punishment without complaint. As they cleaned the lab together, they laughed and joked, making the best of the situation. Their bond grew even stronger through those shared experiences.

It was one of those lazy afternoons when the sun was too warm and the classroom too stifling. Manik and Nandini sat at the back of their math class, barely paying attention to the lesson. Manik nudged Nandini, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous idea.

"Psst, Nandini," he whispered. "Let's bunk the rest of the class and go to the canteen. I heard they have fresh samosas today."

Nandini grinned. "Alright, let's do it. But we have to be careful."

They waited until the teacher turned to write on the board, then slipped out of the classroom quietly. They ran down the hall, laughing, their footsteps echoing in the empty corridor. Reaching the canteen, they bought samosas and sodas, then found a quiet spot under a tree in the schoolyard.

"This is so much better than math class," Nandini said, taking a bite of her samosa.

Manik nodded, a satisfied smile on his face. "Totally. We should do this more often."

Their carefree laughter filled the air, the world outside their little bubble forgotten.

Manik and Nandini had been caught playing pranks on their classmates, hiding their bags and swapping their notebooks. The principal had been less than amused and decided to make an example of them.

"You two will clean the school grounds for the next week," he announced sternly. "And you will report to me every day after school."

Manik and Nandini exchanged glances, trying to stifle their giggles. The idea of spending time together, even if it was cleaning, didn't seem so bad.

"Yes, sir," they chorused, attempting to sound contrite.

After school, they grabbed brooms and started sweeping the grounds. At first, it was tedious, but soon Manik found a way to make it fun.

"Race you to see who can sweep the most leaves," he challenged, his eyes twinkling.

Nandini laughed. "You're on!"

They turned the punishment into a game, laughing and teasing each other as they worked. By the end of the week, they had not only cleaned the grounds but also deepened their bond.

The school was buzzing with excitement for the annual function. Manik and Nandini had been cast in the lead roles of a serious drama about a tragic love story. On the night of the performance, they were both nervous but ready.

As the play progressed, Manik suddenly decided to lighten the mood. During a particularly emotional scene where Nandini's character was supposed to cry over Manik's character's death.

He leaned in and whispered, "Don't cry, Nandini. Just think of this as our prank on the entire school."

Nandini struggled to keep a straight face, but then Manik made a funny face, and she couldn't hold it in any longer. She burst out laughing, and soon the entire audience was laughing along with her.

Manik, not missing a beat, started ad-libbing his lines, turning the tragic scene into a comedic one.

"Oh, woe is me! I have perished from a terrible paper cut!" he exclaimed dramatically, clutching his hand and pretending to faint.

Nandini played along, adding, "Oh, my poor beloved! If only we had better first aid kits in school!"

The audience roared with laughter, and by the end of the play, what was supposed to be a tear-jerker had become the highlight of the evening for its unexpected humor.

After the performance, the principal and teachers were both exasperated and amused. "You two have a knack for turning everything into a joke," the principal said, shaking his head.

Manik and Nandini just grinned, pleased with themselves. "Life's too short to be serious all the time," Manik said, winking at Nandini.

Flashback ends

Nandini sighed, taking another sip of her coffee. The memories were precious, but they also made her heart ache with longing. She missed Manik more than words could express.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a message. She picked it up, her heart skipping a beat when she saw it was from Manik.

"Hey, beautiful. Just thinking about you. Miss you."

A smile spread across her face as she typed her reply. "Miss you too, Manik. Remember the time we pranked the principal?"

She sent the message and waited. Within moments, Manik replied. "How could I forget? We were legends! Rahul and Anjali forever."

Nandini laughed softly, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. Even though they were miles apart, their bond remained as strong as ever.

As she sat on her balcony, surrounded by the memories of their shared past, Nandini felt a sense of hope. The distance was hard, but she knew their love could withstand anything. After all, they had faced everything together since their school days.

She took another sip of her coffee, her thoughts filled with dreams of their future. No matter where life took them, she knew they would always find their way back to each other.

Manik was on his way to the office, glancing out the window of his car as the city buzzed around him. Suddenly, he noticed two teenagers on a bike, both wearing school uniforms. The sight triggered a flood of memories from his school days.

Flashback,

It was a bright, sunny afternoon, and the students of class 11 were supposed to be in their classrooms, diligently preparing for the upcoming exams. But Manik and Nandini had other plans. They had been feeling restless and in need of an adventure, so they hatched a daring plan to sneak out of school.

Their friend, Aarav, who was a senior and had a bike, agreed to lend it to them for the afternoon. Manik and Nandini waited for the perfect moment when the teacher turned her back to the class. They exchanged a quick, conspiratorial glance and slipped out of the room, trying to stifle their giggles.

Once outside, they ran towards the bike parking area, where Aarav's bike was waiting for them. Manik grabbed the keys and hopped on, with Nandini quickly climbing onto the back, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Ready for the adventure of a lifetime?" Manik asked, grinning from ear to ear.

"Absolutely! Let's get out of here," Nandini replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

They roared out of the school grounds, laughing and shouting with exhilaration. The wind whipped through their hair as they sped through the streets, feeling a sense of freedom they rarely experienced.

Their first stop was an ice cream parlor, a popular hangout spot for students. Manik parked the bike, and they hurried inside, eager to indulge in their favorite treats. They ordered two large sundaes, loaded with toppings.

"Two sundaes, please!" Manik said, flashing a charming smile at the server.

"Coming right up!" the server replied, amused by their enthusiasm.

They sat at a corner table, savoring every spoonful of their ice cream. The sweetness was a perfect match for their mood, and they chatted about everything and nothing, enjoying each other's company.

"Remember the time we got detention for putting glue on the teacher's chair?" Nandini said, laughing at the memory.

Manik chuckled. "How could I forget? We thought we were so clever, and then we ended up spending the whole afternoon cleaning the classroom."

After finishing their ice cream, they decided to take a leisurely ride through the city. They rode along the scenic routes, enjoying the sights and sounds. The world felt like their playground, and they relished every moment of it.

As they passed by a park, Nandini spotted a group of kids flying kites. Her eyes lit up, and she tugged at Manik's arm. "Let's fly a kite! It's been ages since I've done that."

"Why not?" Manik agreed, pulling over to a nearby shop to buy a kite and some string.

They joined the kids in the park, laughing and cheering as they managed to get the kite soaring high into the sky. The vibrant colors of the kite danced against the backdrop of the clear blue sky, and they felt a sense of pure joy.

"This is so much fun!" Nandini exclaimed, holding onto the string as the kite soared higher.

"Yeah, it's like we're kids again," Manik replied, watching her with a fond smile.

As the afternoon turned into evening, they decided to head back to school before anyone noticed their absence. They reluctantly returned the bike to Aarav, thanking him profusely for lending it to them.

"Anytime, guys," Aarav said, grinning. "Just don't get caught!"

They sneaked back into the school grounds, slipping into their classroom just as the bell rang. Their classmates looked at them with curiosity, but they just smiled, their eyes sparkling with shared secrets and adventures.

Flashback ends

Manik smiled at the memory, a warm feeling spreading through him. Those carefree days with Nandini were some of the best times of his life. The bond they shared, the adventures they had, and the laughter that echoed through their days were memories he would always cherish.

He reached for his phone and sent Nandini a quick message: "Just saw something that reminded me of our bike adventure. Miss those days."

As he put his phone away, he felt a sense of gratitude for having Nandini in his life. Even though they were miles apart, their memories and the bond they shared kept them close. The thought brought a smile to his face as he continued on his way to the office, his heart lighter with the warmth of cherished memories.

Infinite Talent

The sun cast a warm glow over the city as the morning hustle began. Inside the sleek, modern office of Infinite Talent, Vishaka and Bela sat in their spacious conference room, discussing potential candidates for their next brand ambassador and a new designer for their upcoming campaign.

Vishaka leaned back in her chair, flipping through a stack of portfolios. "We need someone fresh, someone who can bring a new energy to our brand," she mused, glancing up at Bela. "Any thoughts?"

Bela nodded, her eyes scanning the portfolios in front of her. "I agree. We need someone who can appeal to the younger audience while maintaining a touch of sophistication. And as for the designer, I'm thinking we should look for someone with a unique style, someone who can set trends rather than follow them."

As they delved deeper into their discussion, the door to the conference room swung open, and Mahir stepped in. His unexpected presence caught both women off guard.

"Mahir! What a surprise," Vishaka exclaimed, standing up to greet him. "It's not often we see you during working hours."

Bela, still seated, smiled warmly. "Yes, to what do we owe this visit?"

Mahir, looking every bit the confident businessman in his tailored suit, chuckled. "Well, it's good to see you too. I thought I'd drop by and see what my lovely wife and best friend are up to. Maybe I'm just missing Bela a bit too much," he teased, winking at Bela.

Bela blushed, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink. "Oh, stop it, Mahir," she said, laughing. "You're making me blush."

Vishaka joined in the teasing. "Who would have thought? The mighty Mahir Sehgal, missing his wife so much that he has to come to visit her at work."

Mahir raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on his lips. "What can I say? She's irresistible."

They all shared a light-hearted laugh before Vishaka turned serious again. "But really, Mahir, what brings you here? This must be something important."

Mahir nodded, taking a seat at the table. "Actually, it is. We're about to collaborate on a major project with an international company. They're planning to expand their operations here in India, and they'll be arriving next week."

Bela's eyes widened in surprise. "An international company? That sounds huge! But why the sudden decision to collaborate with them?"

Mahir leaned forward, his expression earnest. "They already have an office in Mumbai, and their expertise aligns perfectly with our goals. This partnership could be incredibly beneficial for Sehgal Industries. We could leverage their global reach and resources to elevate our brands to new heights."

Vishaka nodded thoughtfully. "That does sound promising. What kind of project are we talking about here?"

"It's a multifaceted campaign," Mahir explained. "They're interested in tapping into the Indian market more effectively, and they believe that collaborating with established local brands like ours will give them the edge they need. We'll be working on everything from marketing strategies to product development."

Bela's excitement was palpable. "This could open so many doors for us, Vishaka. Think about the exposure and the opportunities for us."

Vishaka agreed, a spark of enthusiasm in her eyes. "Absolutely. And we'll be in the perfect position to make a strong impression."

Mahir smiled, pleased with their reactions. "I knew you two would see the potential. We'll have a meeting with them next week to discuss the details. They will be here by the next week. I wanted to make sure you were both in the loop and ready to bring your A-game."

Vishaka and Bela exchanged determined looks. "We're ready, Mahir," Vishaka said confidently. "We'll make sure this collaboration is a success."

Bela nodded in agreement. "Yes, we'll prepare everything on our end. This is a fantastic opportunity, and we won't let it slip through our fingers."

Mahir stood up, satisfied with their responses. "I never doubted you for a second. Now, I'll leave you to your work. Just wanted to give you the heads up."

As he turned to leave, Vishaka couldn't resist one last tease. "And don't worry, Mahir. We'll make sure Bela doesn't miss you too much while she's busy making this project a success."

Mahir laughed, waving as he walked out of the room. "I'll hold you to that."

As the door closed behind him, Vishaka and Bela turned back to their portfolios, renewed determination in their eyes. They had a big week ahead, and they were ready to seize the opportunity with both hands.
