Chapter-16: Friends, Food and Forgiveness

Next day,

The soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow upon the lovers entwined in each other's arms. With a contented sigh, Nandini nestled closer to Manik, her heart overflowing with love.

"Good morning, my love," Manik whispered, kissing her forehead tenderly.

"Good morning," Nandini murmured, her voice filled with warmth and affection.

Today is their last day here which began with a lazy morning in bed, basking in the warmth of their shared love. They reveled in the simple pleasure of each other's presence, exchanging soft kisses. They thought to leave in the afternoon.

As midday approached, they reluctantly tore themselves away from the comfort of their bed and ventured outside after getting ready to leave.

As they started their trip, they found themselves surrounded by beautiful scenery and feeling cozy inside their car. The sunlight peeked through the trees, creating pretty shadows that made everything look magical.

Nandini, sitting next to Manik, was amazed by the beauty she saw outside her window. Every twist in the road showed a different view, each one made by nature and looking like a beautiful painting.

In the distance, there were green hills that looked like soft waves. The morning sunlight made them glow golden. Trees lined the road like guards, their branches reaching towards the sky.

Birds sang happily, their songs mixing with the quiet sound of the car's engine. It was like a beautiful concert of nature, filling the air with calmness.

Nandini leaned back in her seat, a contented smile gracing her lips. She stole a glance at Manik, who was focused on the road ahead with an air of quiet determination.

His hands gripped the steering wheel with practiced ease, guiding them along the winding path with precision.

There was a sense of purpose in his movements, a confidence born of countless journeys traveled together.

"So, where should we stop for a break?" Nandini's voice broke the tranquility, punctuating the moment with a note of anticipation.

Manik glanced at her with a twinkle in his eye, his lips curling into a playful smile. "How about that cozy little cafe we visited earlier?"

Manik's eyes sparkled with delight as she nodded in agreement. "That sounds perfect to me!"

So, they knew where they were going, and they kept driving with lots of excitement. The road seemed to go on forever, like a long black ribbon, taking them deeper into the countryside. Every mile brought them closer to where they were going, but they enjoyed the journey itself the most.

As they drove, they talked easily, sharing stories and dreams. Their voices blended with the sound of the car's engine. They had a strong connection from years of laughing and crying together.

Sometimes, they didn't need to talk and just enjoyed each other's company. Nandini looked out the window, lost in her thoughts. Manik looked at her with a soft smile when she wasn't watching.

As they got closer to where they were headed, they saw more villages and busy towns. Houses were close together along the road, with smoke coming out of chimneys. People were busy with their lives, doing things with purpose.

Finally, they saw the cafe they were looking for. It looked cozy and welcoming, promising good food and warmth inside.

Nandini's stomach growled, excited for the delicious food. Manik laughed gently as he parked the car easily. They got out, stretching after the long ride. The air felt fresh, smelling like bread and coffee.

Nandini breathed it in deeply as they went inside. The cafe was nice inside, with soft lights and comfortable furniture. The walls had old posters and pictures, telling stories of the past.  There was chatter and the sounds of dishes and coffee being made.

They found a sunny table by the window and sat down. Nandini felt happy and relaxed. Manik held her hand, showing his love without saying anything.

They looked at the menu, excited about all the tasty food choices. They finally decided and ordered, eagerly waiting for their meal.

As they waited for their food to arrive, they lost themselves in conversation once more, their voices mingling with the ambient noise of the cafe.

When their food finally arrived, it was everything they had hoped for and more. The sandwiches were piled high with fresh ingredients, the bread warm and crusty to the touch.

Each bite was a symphony of flavors, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that danced across their palates with effortless grace.

They ate with gusto, savoring every mouthful as if it were their last. There was a joy in the simple act of sharing a meal, a sense of camaraderie that bound them together in a moment of pure bliss.

After completing they left from there. At last, they finally entered the bustle of the city. Manik drops Nandini at her hospital as she has the night shift. He left from there not before giving a bear hug to her.

While going back Manik was thinking of ways to make up to Fab 5. He was thinking of some excuses. He messaged them to meet at a restaurant.

The message was seen by everyone but there was no response, which means they all are angry with him. He prayed to god to save him from them.

Manik reached there and saw Fab 4 sitting there, looking at Mukti's face he could say that she would kill him at any moment. While others were trying to cool her down.

"Manik, where on earth have you been?" Cabir exclaimed, jumping up from his seat as soon as he spotted him.

"Yeah, we've been worried sick about you," added Dhruv, a concerned look on his face.

Manik grinned sheepishly, trying to think of a plausible excuse. "Oh, you know, just had some office stuff to take care of, Nothing serious."

His friends exchanged skeptical glances, clearly not buying his excuse.

"But Manik, you could've at least let us know, "Alya chimed in, her voice laced with concern.

"Sorry guys, I know I should've. But you know how it is with work sometimes, they just spring things on you last minute," Manik replied, hoping they would drop the subject.

But they weren't about to let it slide that easily. They knew Manik well enough to sense when something was off.

"Come on, spill the beans, Manik. We know there's more to this story," Cabir said, crossing his arms over his chest.

“It's seriously nothing Cabir, you know that I visited after so long so just had some work that needs to be taken care of,” Manik said.

“This is the last time I'm sparing you bhai, if next time you ignore my calls, then I will not talk to you,” Mukti said angrily.

"I promise, next time I'll let you guys know," Manik replied sincerely, grateful for his friend's concern.

Nandini was in her cabin when her door opened with a loud sound and sees Navya coming inside.

"Nandini, guess what?" Navya exclaimed, bursting into Nandini's apartment with a determined look on her face.

Nandini looked up from her laptop, surprised by Navya's sudden entrance. "What's up, Navya? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's more than okay! We're going out for dinner tonight," Navya declared with a determined glint in her eye.

Nandini blinked in surprise, caught off guard by Navya's sudden enthusiasm. "Um, we are?"

"Yes, we are!" Navya insisted, grabbing Nandini's hand and pulling her off the couch.

"It's been ages since we had a girls' night out, and tonight's the perfect opportunity. Plus, I already made reservations at that new restaurant you've been dying to try."

Nandini couldn't help but smile at Navya's infectious energy. Despite her initial hesitation, the idea of a night out sounded incredibly tempting.

"Okay, you win," Nandini relented, laughing as Navya practically dragged her towards the door. "But only because you make it impossible to say no."

As they made their way to the restaurant, Nandini couldn't help but feel grateful for Navya's friendship. Amid her busy life, Navya always found a way to remind Nandini to take a step back and enjoy the moment.

“How was your seminar?” Navya asked.

“Which seminar?” Nandini said absentmindedly.

“For which you disappeared for 3 days,” Navya said rolling her eyes.

“Oh, that was good and very helpful. Thank God, I visited it.” Nandini said.
