Story continues:
A teeny-weeny crush maybe.
Hey, please don't say this to anyone.
It is not like I mind. But my family minds it. Well, what can I say. They are the most orthodox people I have come across. Even if we are living in this 21st century they believe in same religion same caste and creed system.
So, I already know my marriage will be an arranged. That's the main reason I don't look into guys in that way. Cause I value my family's happiness more than mine.
Why to break my heart unnecessarily when it will be broken in first place if I lead any one of them!
To be honest, my parents are not against love. They do support it. But the only condition is it must be from same religion atleast.
Now what can I tell?
Love is blind as you all know. And it won't happen like the way we wish.
"Look, he is looking at us." My bestfriend screamed near my ear breaking my ear bones bringing me back from my trance.
"God, what the hell Priya? What's wrong with you?" I yelled at her keeping the water spray in its place.
I rubbed my ears to ease the tinge of pain caused due to my friend's yelling!
"I told you I don't want any unnecessary attention. Then why in the world are you hell bent on doing the opposite?" She giggled at my outburst.
She really test my patience at times.
Oh god, how did she even become my best friend in the first place?"
"I understand. But see yourself for once, he is looking at us. Infact at you!" She said in a serious tone making me look into his direction.
I rolled my eyes at her and murmured 'whatever' under my breath. Since she was compelling me, I turned to the side she was directing me and a gasp escaped from my mouth.
Yes, indeed he was looking at me.
My eyes widened at the realisation.
I was gaping at him, and my breath got hitched, when he suddenly waved at us like a Fan girl as if he has seen some kind of celebrity.
I mentally chuckled at my comparison.
Oh God, this is not good.
Not at all good for me.
I just grasped my best friend's hand stopping her from waving back at him, while she just grinned at me sheepishly.
I gave her a glare to stop it all once.
Yes, that did it!
She turned back to go downstairs muttering or cursing under her breath.
Don't know what it was!
Pheww ...that was close. I could have glared at her long back then.
And God, this girl will be the death of me one day!
We just went downstairs and Priya started chatting with my mom. They are very close, like very close that they can even turn up against me in some situations.
"Priya, please give this envelope to your dad when gets back home." My mom forwarded an cover and placed on her palm.
I frowned thinking what it would be.
"Mom, what is it, in the cover?" I asked, even before I could think; as you see curiosity killed the cat.
Mom shakes her head and replies nonchalantly. "Oh it's nothing. Just the payment through cheque for the books which your dad is willing to purchase."
"Like, he did a month back?" I further asked to confirm. I don't know why am I getting tensed, whenever our fathers meet or about to meet.
It's because you both are notorious than boys out here!
What?
Yes, and that's why you are scared by thinking what if they put you two in a residential school for further studies.
What the?
"Yes, that day he had cash in his hands. But this time, he took a credit from the bank and passing it to Priya's father for the upcoming book purchase." She said and walked away to make us all tea. I hummed in response.
I turned and frowned again seeing my best friend's face. I waited for her to speak, as she was looking at me in a weird way. I was wondering what and why she is staring at me, that too in this way.
I cleared my throat to gain her attention, and what, it worked. She was all lost like she was in a unbreakable spell and came back suddenly jerking away by hearing my growl/snarl/clearing.
"What happened? Where were you lost?" Crossing my arms over my chest, and I looked at her narrowing my eyes and continued. "Btw, why were you staring at me, a second ago, as if you have seen me suddenly coming off dancing and partying with an alien from another planet?"
"Uh..huh..." She tried to speak but stopped to lick her lips. "I was wondering why you are always getting tensed whenever your mom asks about my father? Whats the matter?" She reprimanded again.
My eyes widened per question and as usual no answer came but stutter. "No..no.thing, you are just assuming things." I stuttered without meeting her eyes.
Way to go girl!
Shut up!
"Nah" she said and shakes her head in denial. "I am not going to buy this. I know you, since childhood. And this is not the first time I am getting you caught from telling lies." Priya remarked. "So cut the slack and tell me the matter that worries you."
Heaving a sigh, I told how I had a bad dream, one day, like our parents were sending us to a residential school for our activities back here and I too know that this dream might be silly.
But for me it is not!
I understand you.
I sighed again.
Cause I am a very homesick person where I can't even imagine how a day, it will be without parents.
Yes, that dream made me cry that whole midnight.
Once I spilled everything, I can hear my bestfriend's laughter peering me off.
I closed my ears like I couod reduce the intensity of her laughter.
God, she is laughing like a maniac and I am just looking at her as if she has asked my kidney!
"What the hell? Why are you laughing like this?" I asked gesturing my hand over the air.
"Gosh, Nikki. Are you even serious?" Priya paused and looked at me for a second and laughed again. I gave her another glare and that's made her stop immediately from her oh-so-not-beautiful laugh.
I raised my eyebrows at her asking her to continue.
"Well, so for that you were always tensed whenever there is a news regarding our fathers meet." Priya said nodding her head in understanding.
"Don't worry silly! We are not going anywhere. I am sure." She added.
I heaved a sigh and enjoyed talking for the rest of the day!
Thus the weekend passed in a blur.
...
I groaned when my alarm went off. I hate Mondays. I don't know why. I am a nerd, still I hate it.
I woke up at around 6.30 in the morning and went to washroom without any choice for doing my morning business.
Right after 30 minutes, I got a phone call indicating my friend is waiting for me downstairs.
Yes, my best friend Priya always have breakfast at my place.
We are like those chuddie buddies - An inseparable ones! Who can't live without eating each other's brains.
I sighed and looked into the mirror to see my dressing one last time to check if there anything wrong.
I wore my glasses and took my backpack to go downstairs.
We had a chat regarding homeworks while having cereals.
By that time my brother came and started munching on his toast. He is one year younger to me. But still he behaves as if he is my elder one who rules my world.
I roll my eyes with my thinking.
"Hey sis, do you want me to drop you guys?" My brother asked us out of nowhere.
Wait, he is just in grade 9 and how come he is asking, whether he could drop us or not.
"First tell me, do u have a licence to drive a car?" I asked in confusion etched in my voice narrowing my eyes at him.
What the hell is he thinking?
Getting us arrested in the morning or getting us admitting into the hospital?
What does he think about himself first?
I huffed mentally!
"Nope, but I shall drop you both in Scooty." He said shrugging his shoulders as if it's not a big deal.
"Nah, we are okay by walking." I said before Priya could interrupt.
Three people in a Scooty! Wow, not bad idea from my brother. I rolled my eyes at him and went out wearing my sandals finishing our breakfast.
We hurried to our school which is few metres away from our house by walking.
We could use our cycle, but we prefer walking, thus stimulating our metabolism.
Health conscious, aren't we? My conscience mocked me!
I rolled my eyes at her as there is no use in giving an explanation!
....
