John Chidester was a mailman from Arkansas at the time of the Civil War.

He was accused of espionage for turning over Union mail to the local Confederate troops.

When Union General Frederick Steele commandeered John's house before the Battle of Poison Spring, a few Union gunmen fired shots into the upstairs wall of John's house, hoping to hit the traitor as he hid in a closet.

Nowadays, John Chidester's ghost remains in his old house. He shows up in photographs and shouts "Get out!" to unwelcome visitors in his home.

John's house is now a museum and open to the public. Go see if the legends are true.
