Old Idaho Penitentiary located in Boise, Idaho, is one of the most haunted places in the country.

It served as a prison between 1872 and 1973, housing over 13,000 inmates during that time.

Possibly the prison's most infamous inmate was Raymond Allen Snowden, or, as he's also known, 'Idaho's Jack the Ripper'.

On October 18th, 1957, Jack was brought to the gallows of the penitentiary to be hanged for his crimes. The noose was placed around his neck and he was hung.

But the Ripper was still alive.

For some reason, the noose didn't break his neck instantly.

It took the criminal fifteen minutes to die, swinging from the rope by his neck.

The gallows are now known as 5 House. Visitors who go there report strange happenings, like eerie and irregular sounds, including voices. 5 House also allegedly causes strong feelings of sadness in visitors.
