Chapter 5: Musical Talent

Song Lyrics: My Crush - China Anne McClain (Bold part)

Artemis looked to Zee, and the dark haired girl looked back. Artemis responded, "Zee and I were just talking about the dance. You know, you should go, even if Conner's taken. You could just hang out with us! It'll be like old times!" Megan hesitantly said, "Guys, I'm not sure going to the dance would be the best way to make me forget about the embarrassing part of my day, and how I was humiliated in front of my crush. Besides, I can't dance. The last time I tried to dance, I fell on my face, and it was awful. I am not going to do that again, and give Alexa something else to make fun of me for." Artemis begged, "Oh come on, Megan! Don't you want to not be stuck home Sunday night while all of us are partying? You gotta be brave, you gotta do something, you gotta make this your best year yet, and show that jerk that what she says does not matter." Zee added softly, "She's right. You should go with us. It will be a ton of fun." Megan raised an eyebrow, then laughed,"Okay okay! I'll go! Just you guys and I. But no plans, no tricks, no jokes, okay?" Artemis nodded, the grabbed a pretzel, and tossed into her mouth. She grinned, "Now let's get some pizza and party! I'm so ready to let go of this last week and do something less than boring for once!" Megan smiled, and replied, "Oh, so this last week of you and Wally kissing wasn't good? I thought I did well for you two." Artemis chuckled, and said, "Kissing Wally wasn't boring, but sitting in the middle of a class of people that don't know the difference between an arrowhead and a fletching is boring, considering I actually took notes on the topic, while they goofed off." Megan grinned, "Well, then we know who is a sports geek..." Artemis glared, which sent all three girls into a howling laughter. Calming down, Artemis grabbed her phone, and said,"I'm ordering pizza. What kind of stuff are you guys wanting?" Zee replied,"Maybe some olives and pepperoni." Megan chimed in, "Oh yeah, and maybe some sausage as well." Artemis answered, "Meat lovers then." Dialing the Domino's restaurant nearest to her house, Artemis ordered the food, while Zee left to use the bathroom. Megan sat on the floor, playing with her hair, dazed in her mind, thinking of Conner. She was still upset that Alexa had practically pushed Conner to be her date! Deciding to go with Artemis and Zee alone to the dance was hard, but the young ginger realized it was the only option, because there was no way she was going to stay home alone on a Sunday night, before break. That simply was not a logical answer. If she wanted to get to know Conner and show Alexa she was never going to back down, she had to do something. Pulling her phone out of her bag, Megan flipped it on, and tapped on the Instagram app shehad installed on it. A picture of Conner and Wally grinning devilishly, flashed onto the screen in front of her, the caption reading, "Bros. Gotta need 'em."Although the caption was simple, Megan was happy that her crush had someone to be with, that didn't act like a complete jerk. Artemis walked back into the room, and said, "Pizza's ordered and will be on the way soon." Zee came into the room, and took a seat beside Megan, saying, "Good. I'm starving. Do you have anything I could drink?" Artemis laughed, then went to the fridge, drawing out three cans of Dr. Pepper. Coming into the room again, she handed one to Zee and one to Megan, before popping the tab of hers open, and taking a long drink. She sighed happily, "Ahh, now that hits the spot." Grabbing out her phone again, Artemis went to her Spotify playlist, and found a song she thought best suited why they were ather house, partying. Tapping the play button, a beat began to play in the room. Lyrics soon joined with the music, and listening carefully, Megan opened her mouth to sing. She usually never sang in public, but that was because she wasn't the kind of person that wanted to be heard. Being with Zee and Artemis, Megan knew it wouldn't be a problem. Letting the words and the beat work their magic, she belted out, "My crush has gotta be the real thing! I love how good that I've been feeling! I'm dreaming head over heel and. Over my crush, my crush, my crush! When I see him I go crazy. Can't control emotions lately. When our eyes meet, my heart's flying. Up above the clouds I'm gliding. All I know is I'm so happy! Out of everyone, he gets me!" The song continued to play, and Megan was caught in the moment. Artemis and Zee watched on, surprised by the talent their friend had. When the song came to an end, Artemis paused the playlist, as Zee exclaimed, "Megan, you should totally sing something for the talent show in the spring! You are incredible!" Megan blushed, and said, "No. No talent show, guys. I'm already going to the dance with you, and you know I have stage fright." Artemis replied, "Meg, listen. What you were doing just there? That is what Conner will find to like about you, as well as every other amazing talent you have! You have to sing, girl! Let your voice be heard!" Megan replied, "In case you forgot, I puked the last time I sang in public. I can't do it." Zee complained,"You seriously can't hear yourself and think you shouldn't let others hear you?I may not be the expert on romance or on breaking fears, but this is the best chance you've got to fix the problem. Show people you aren't afraid." "But I am afraid, Zee! I'm just not like you guys. I don't have a love for theatre or for sports. I'd rather do other stuff, that allows me to stay in the background, instead of up front where people stare at me!" Artemis and Zee looked at Megan, and sighed, "Fine, if you want that talent to go to waste, you can do so. We just know guys happen to like a girl that can sing." The silence in the room lingered, until the sound of the doorbell rang once again. Artemis stood up to go answer the door and pay for the food. Afterwards, she shut the door, and carried the pizza box into the living room, setting it on the table. She grinned, and said, "Dig in."

Writer's Note: So I already had the majority of the chapters prewritten on Word, before I got Wattpad, so until I get to the point of having no more fully completed chapters, I'll just put all the finished ones on here, then I'll add more recent writing into the script and go from there. Thanks...and I hope you like the rest of this work so far... I'll be adding chapters like every few hours to give time gaps.
