Part 1: Chapter 8

Kakashi is late... or should I say, Kakashi-sensei. I'm going to have to get used to that. Naruto sighed inwardly. It's only been a few seconds though. If he had gotten into an argument with Sakura about being an idiot and stuff, maybe then he wouldn't be so bored. Kakashi was always so late.

Naruto stood close to the door with his arms folded. He sighed heavily, but this time he sighed out loud. Sakura looked up, and even though she would like to also punish their Sensei for being so late, she wanted to make it clear that, "You're asking for trouble, you know you shouldn't do that."

She wanted to make sure that it was clear. That it wasn't her doing or fault. It was Naruto's idea. She had nothing to do with it, but she couldn't hold back the other conscious shouting for the teacher to get hit. Her thoughts were stopped by the tallest boy in the room.

His hands were clasped in front of his face, covering his mouth and nose, almost. Sasuke's elbows were resting on the top of the desk he sat at. He gave an unimpressed click from his tongue, almost as if he was giving a small laugh at the stupidity of the small test. "Our teacher's a Jōnin, you really think he would fall for that? You should know that at least, or is this smart side of yours just an act?"

If only you knew what you were saying.

Naruto shrugged ready to say, maybe, but he was interrupted by the door opening. As expected from Naruto, Kakashi-sensei was too lazy to even lift a finger to dodge the duster.

As expected, Haruno Sakura tried to emphasize that she didn't do it. While Uchiha Sasuke grew suspicious, trying to analyze why his completely qualified teacher didn't seem as skillful as he would have thought. Naruto knew Hatake Kakashi all too well. Not as well as others, but well enough. They have been on missions together before, after all.

Of course, some thought he was too young, but they would just send Hatake Kakashi to keep watch of him when he was younger. He done just fine on his own. Kakashi and Naruto were not as close as before, because Naruto decided to not trust anybody after he got those thoughts in his head.

That he was a monster. Monsters don't deserve friends. They can't have close loved ones. They can't feel. So why did it hurt then? Why does it?

Naruto shook those thoughts away as he walked to the window. He waited for Kakashi to finish his whole dramatic pretense. Though the masked man took his time, there was a slight silence before he spoke.

"Well, let's see, my first impression with you guys..." He pretended to think. Here we go again, Naruto thought with a sigh, "You're a bunch of idiots."

They all slumped down in disappointment, they had just been called an idiot by their new teacher on the first day meeting him. Naruto was slumped down since he was really getting tired of this waiting. He pointed to himself indicating, are you calling me an idiot? The man just gave him a look that showed he could care less about this. That was Kakashi alright, same old Kakashi.

At one point, Uzumaki Naruto and Hatake Kakashi were close. Naruto pushed him away after a few incidents of discouragement. He became a loner and hid his depression, put on a mask and became more and more distant. That's when they stopped being as close as they were. It was scary how things could end so quickly. It was unfortunate, indeed.

Here they are again, meeting each other after such a long time. It almost felt awkward for Naruto. Naruto wanted to leave as soon as possible to get this all done with. Today was the last day of training with Hinata and after that, they would see each other once in a while. He needed to teach her a couple of things first. That's all he should focus on when training her. She needs the extra bit of training, that's all.

The young boy seemed to get quite bored, so he jumped out of the window. He knew the meeting spot anyway. The two seemed to be confused about Naruto's behavior as they took the stairs towards the roof. Sasuke stayed quiet. He didn't want to ask about any of that; he wasn't that interested anyway. Though he had to admit that he was shocked to see a whole different Naruto.

Sakura seemed to show her curiosity, but before she could complain or shout. Their Sensei spoke lazily, wanting them to introduce themselves.

"How about you go first?" Kakashi pointed towards Naruto.

Naruto seemed to be irritated a bit and crossed his arms. "I don't know..." he spoke calmly, "How about you give a demonstration. Besides, it's only polite to introduce yourself before asking other people's names."

Kakashi could practically see the sly smirk that Naruto kept hidden.

After the demonstration, the students have done their unique introduction. Naruto stayed calm and spoke. "I'm Uzumaki... Naruto." He seemed to hesitate, not seeing the point in this. "I like things and I don't like things," he said without an ounce of effort.

"Naruto," Sakura said in exhaustion, "be serious."

Sakura was a little shocked, but she had to warn Naruto about his behavior. She had to admit that it was kind of funny and he looked kind of cool that way. She shook her head. Cool and Naruto? Those shouldn't be mentioned in one sentence.

"Fine, I like Ramen and I like 'hanging out' with Hinata and Shikamaru. My dislikes... I don't really know at the moment. As for my dream..." Naruto spoke in a exhausted voice, "I guess I could settle for an ANBU, but I'd actually prefer being Hokage, so that's my dream, I suppose."

Kakashi's eye twitched a bit at the young boy's words. He hasn't been able to talk like he used to with Naruto, but one thing for certain, Naruto never really liked being around people. He didn't even look like someone who wanted to do so much work to be Hokage.

He changed a bit. Oh, he seemed to grow up and in an interesting way as well.

Kakashi's face remained blank as he spoke in an equally bland tone, "Next."

"I'm Haruno Sakura..." It went on until something caught Naruto's attention.

He expected Sakura to say something about hating him, but she didn't. That wasn't the thing he noticed, though.

"...kill a certain someone..."

That's what caught his attention. Naruto shook his head as he sighed. Uchiha Itachi... just what were you thinking when you did this? How did you think your brother would react?

Naruto seemed to be lost in thought, holding a cold look towards the ground. He heard Kakashi-sensei speak about a survival test, but he wasn't that interested at the moment. He was deep in thought. He heard Kakashi giving out a laugh that seemed a bit out of his character. Well, the character he knew when he was younger.

He heard him try and freak the other two students he had to get acquainted with. Kakashi really was different now, he seemed more carefree. They both have some catching up to do; both changed after all these years.

He changed so much.
