Vingt
Running through the trees, she stumbled over her feet. Her hair whipped at her face, tears burned in her eyes as she fled the scene. She wanted out; she wanted to go home.
Facing her like that burned a hole in her memory, it was something that she could never forget.
Red was something that would haunt her. Eyes, crimson and full of hunger singe at her sanity. Eyes were never meant to be red. Red belonged to blood and passion. Red was the colour of the setting Arizona sun. Red was the scorching fire that sparked her veins when she saw Jacob Black. Red was the way her heart soared when she seen Quil. It was the way her cheeks flushed and love consumed her entire soul. Red wasn't the pigment of eyes and fiery red hair.
Falling out of the trees, she sank to the ground, leaning heavily against a tree for support. She didn't feel right, nothing felt right.
She wanted the love that Alice gave her and the safety that Jasper radiated. She wanted her older sister, a hug that could help chase away the nightmares that were guaranteed to plague her nights.
Andy wanted a lot of things and she knew hat she wasn't going to get most of them, possibly all of them.
Looking out in front of her, she watched the pull and push of the water. It was dangerous, waves crashing against the cliffs face violently. Andy could have sworn that she felt the salt water spray even from this distance.
She wasn't all that far from the diving points. The path that she occupied gave her a perfect view. If it was nicer, if she had not nearly just died, she would have enjoyed it.
She shook her head slowly as her mind forced her to relive everything. Never would she consider herself to be an expert on vampires, but she knew enough to know that they didn't growl like that, that they could move around silently if thy wished to. There was something else hiding among the trees, something that caused even the sadistic Victoria to run off with her tail between her legs.
Andy felt stupid, so incredibly stupid for going into the woods.
She wasn't sure of how long she sat there, how long she sat crying but the sight of a figure on the highest jump shocked her from her mind.
Andy strained her eyes against the distance to try and identify them. Brown hair was caught in the harsh wind. The girl was far from her sight, something that she would normally never be able to see but Andy had grown up with her. She would recognize her everywhere.
She ran hard, forcing herself to move on shaky legs. Her lungs screamed for air, her side held stitches of pain but she refused to stop.
Bella was crazy, Andy knew that well enough. The eldest Swan wasn't to be trusted alone and so high up when she wasn't stable, when the water bellow wasn't stable.
She reached the path that held the quickest route from the beach to the cliffs, Bella was but a few minutes away.
A scream tore from her throat as her sister jumped. Knowing she was too late, she turned to the beach, running along until compact dirt turn to wet sand.
She searched the water frantically for her sister, only to have her fear grow when she didn't surface after several minutes.
"Help!" Andy screamed as she cupped her hands around her mouth. She waited before calling again, hoping that someone would come.
The sky rumbled, threatening to release on her. She shook out of her jacket and sweater, dropping them to the ground. Her hands shook as she tugged off her shoes and pulled her phone from her back pocket.
Dark. The water was dark, murky. It stung at her, the salt licking at the cuts that lay mismatched on her skin. The cold burned at her skin, small shivers racked through her as she swam forward. Bella couldn't be that far out and Andy just wanted to get her home.
Andy felt like she was going to throw up. Bella was suspended in the water, body sinking without a care. She moved forward and let her hand wrap around her sister's arms tightly, not at all caring if she was hurting her. She tugged, attempting to maneuver her upwards. She needed air, they needed air.
She could have sworn that her heart stopped when she saw red. Red hair was striking to see, mesmerizing as it floated around the redhead. Andy felt herself back up, she felt Bella jolt in her hold. Her hand slipped from her sister and Andy watched hopelessly as Bella hit her head.
Her eyes narrowed in determination and she gripped Bella tightly. She felt her lungs burning, red hot fire that stung at her and had back dots dancing in her vision.
She pulled, yanking on her sister as she slowly found herself moving upwards. The pull and push of the waves jostled the around.
Preparing herself mentally, she broke through the water. Taking a gulp of air, tucked back under before the waves could make her disoriented. Andy had seen the state of the water before she had come rushing in, she remembered the lectures that her mother had given her about how dangerous an angry sea was.
Her arms felt rubbery, her body numb as her swimming slowed. Her movements slowed, each action took longer. Her hold on Bella never faltered.
the beach grew closer; she could nearly see the bottom. It was a distance that she would have been comfortable swimming out to.
Hands wrapped themselves around her waste and Andy nearly sighed at how warm they were. She leaned against the heat, letting it radiate into her icy skin.
She let the person guide them up, thanking every possible thing for the strength that this person held. They were strong enough to carry both of their weights upward.
Her head broke the surface and her feet were able to skim the ground. Her lungs burned leading to a fiery trail to her throat as she swallowed water. She shook as the wind assaulted her and leaned into the heat that pulsed from the man.
"What were you thinking?" he hissed and pulled a shaking Andy closer.
Jacob, her mind whispered to her. "It was Bella," Andy sobbed. When had I started crying, she wondered. "She jumped and then she wasn't coming up."
"You should have waited; I was a few minutes behind you. I saw her jump, I heard you scream," his voice was quiet as he rushed them onto the sand next to Andy's stuff. 'God, that scream. I thought that something happened to you. I was so scared; we were all so scared."
"Bella. Bella's not breathing." Andy pushed past Jacob shakily. Her hands hovered over her sister's chest and pushed. She cried out when she could barely make her sister's chest move. Her arms shook, her body was weak.
Jacob's hands replaced hers and he began giving her compressions. She counted aloud for him, giving him instructions. She breathed for him, not fully wanting to see his mouth on Bella's.
She panicked as nothing seemed to happen, as time slowly began to slip by and Bella never got up.
She thrust her hands forward, letting them hover over her sister. She willed for something to happen, forcing her mind to dig up red. Red eyes and red blood filled her head and she felt tears flow down her face steadily.
She recalled he way James had made her feel, the way she felt when Bella was sprawled on the floor of the ballet studio nearly dead.
Jacob gasped and Andy glanced up to his shocked face before focusing back on the golden glow that faintly surrounded her hands. She hated this part, the feeling of her life being sucked away and forced into someone else.
Bella jolted upwards at the same moment that Andy was shot back onto the sand. Her chest heaved, water was exhaled for her body with every cough. Warm hands gripped her shoulder, forcing her to her side. The water came up easier as hands patted her back gently, yet firmly.
"It's okay, you're fine," Jacob reassured.
"I'm okay, I'm fine. All good," she managed to croak out. "God, that sucked."
"What just happened?" Bella whispered. Andy looked over to see her sister's wide eyes.
"All the water that was in your lungs was forcibly shoved into mine. It was the only way to heal you apparently."
"That was the freakiest and coolest things I have ever seen," Jacob mumbled in awe.
Andy sent him a forced smile as she continued to catch her breath. She tried to block out Bella's and Jacob's arguing before it gave her a headache.
Blood dripped from her nose and onto the sand. She wiped at it angrily. Andy was beginning to hate the color red.
