"You can't hide in there forever!" I hear a rough voice shout from outside the so-called 'safe' hideout.
"What are we going to do?" Jimin asks breathlessly.
"We're going to hold our ground. Don't fire, let them do that. They can only have so many bullets." Yoongi announces and the seven of us nod.
"Is Eunki alright?" Jin asks from the other side of the room.
I nod. "She's fine, don't worry."
Bang.
This time, the bullet flies straight passed me. I clamp my mouth shut with my hand to muffle a frightened scream and Jimin pulls me onto the floor beside him.
"Don't move." he warns protectively.
"I can't believe Jungkook did that to us." Hoseok speaks up, his tone sounding both angry and disappointed.
"He could have gotten Violet killed. Sending J to her house like he did, what a maniac." Taehyung says angrily.
"I know," I nod. "I never thought he was capable of doing such a thing."
Bang.
Everything is silent. Everything is fine.
"Jimin!"
His grip on me loosens and I turn around slightly so that I can see him.
Blood, there's blood everywhere.
"Jimin," I mumble in shock. "Where...?"
He moves his hand, which is shaking tremendously, and moves his jacket aside revealing his wounded shoulder. Part of me is relieved that it's only his shoulder which is hit and not his heart or his head.
"Oh my god..." I mumble, climbing to my knees.
"Violet, stay down-"
Bang.
Yet another bullet only just misses me. At this point, I don't care; I'm only focused on helping Jimin. There's a blanket beside me which I lean forward and grab.
"I'm going to press this onto your shoulder, okay? It's going to hurt." I warn him and he nods whilst biting his lip.
He flinches when I press the blanket onto his wound that just doesn't seem to stop bleeding. He groans in pain when I press harder but I know it'll help him.
"Violet, stay down." He orders again, his voice laced with agony.
"No, I need to help you-"
Bang.
The bullet flies straight passed me. Again.
"Violet, I swear to god, stay down," Jimin tells me again. "I'll keep this on my shoulder myself."
This time, I oblige and lay down whilst keeping my eyes on Jimin to ensure he's not breaking his promise. He keeps the blanket firmly onto his wound, and soon enough, the pale yellow blanket turns into a sickening shade of maroon.
"He's losing too much blood." Hoseok admits fearfully.
"What do we do?" I ask, watching in dismay as Jimin's grip on the blanket starts to loosen.
"Your Mum is a nurse, isn't she, Violet?" Taehyung asks desperately, to which I nod. "Ring her, she might be able to help."
I shakily pull out my phone and unlock it with fingers that are covered in Jimin's blood. I have one bar of service, god knows how considering we're in the middle of the woods. I press on my Mum's contact and wait impatiently for an answer.
"Violet? Is that you?" Her voice sounds tired.
"Mum, I'll explain everything later so don't ask any questions. I need your help-"
"What is it? I'll help you with anything."
"How do you stop a gunshot wound?" I ask.
"Are you hurt, Violet?" She questions immediately. Mother's instinct.
"No, it's not me. Please help, Mum." I plead, followed by a few moments of silence.
"Where is the wound?"
"In his shoulder." I rush.
"Okay, so it should be safe to elevate his arm. Can you do that?" She asks and I nod.
"I'm sorry, Jimin. This might hurt a little." I warn him even though he's barely conscious.
I hesitantly begin to elevate his arm very, very slowly and hold it in the air using my spare hand. He winces slightly in pain but I know it could help him. I place my phone onto speaker mode and put it down onto the floor so I can use both hands to aid him.
"What do I do next, Mum?" I ask.
"Do you have something to press against the wound?"
"There's a blanket on it but it's soaking with blood-"
"Don't remove it!" She quickly informs me. "Just add another on top of it. Do you have another?"
"I do, but I need to move to get it."
"Okay, just be quick. He needs to get to a hospital as soon as possible."
Bang.
"Violet, what was that? What's going on? I'm going to ring the police."
A familiar pain rushes through my arm and spreads like wildfire. I've been shot, I know it. It feels exactly like it did when J shot me in the leg. Somehow I don't feel as weak as I did when that happened.
I pick up the extra blanket using my other arm. Nobody has noticed. My jacket is black so the blood won't be visible. Not yet, anyway.
I need to save Jimin first.
"Okay, I've got the extra blanket." I say, trying my hardest to disguise the pain. My mind is racing and I can't think properly.
"Press it against the first one, Violet. What's going on?"
"I need to save Jimin first, Mum." I breathe.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Do you have something to cover him with? A lot of the time when people suffer a bullet wound they enter a state of shock. He might start turning really cold."
"I have a hoodie, I never thought." Yoongi says from a few meters away from us. He pulls off his oversized hoodie and throws it to me so I can drape it over Jimin.
My thoughts race through my head and the pain mixes with my shock. I can't think straight.
"I think the bleeding has stopped." Yoongi observes from a few meters away.
I hazily look towards Jimin and I know Yoongi is right; there's only a slight trace of blood on the second blanket. I lazily smile to myself knowing that he's safe.
"Violet, you need to tell me where you are so I can ring the police." My Mum demands.
"Tell her, Violet." Taehyung urges and I do exactly that.
"Stay safe, honey. The police will be there soon. Okay?" She says quietly through the speaker. "I love you."
"I love you too, Mum." I whisper before cancelling the phone call using my wounded arm.
Everything feels numb and I can't think properly. Thoughts are whirling through my head and I can barely process what is happening. I suddenly begin to feel cold.
"You saved him, Violet." Taehyung manages to send a smile in my direction.
"I did, didn't I?"
I look at Jimin who seems to be regaining some colour in his face. He's safe and that's all I care about at the moment. I begin to feel as though it's a winter day; I'm absolutely freezing.
"I'm so...cold." I whisper.
Yoongi turns to me with a concerned expression. "Violet?"
"It's so cold." I shiver, trying to hide the blood that begins to drip through my jacket.
"What's wrong with her?" Taehyung asks.
"Violet? Violet, what's wrong?" Yoongi questions with wide eyes.
"So...cold..."
I suddenly hit the floor and I'm submerged into blackness.
