Manager Poppy (Melody)

A huge line of trolls was waiting outside a massive stage, and everyone was chanting, "Thundershock! Thundershock! Thundershock"! As you can probably guess, Val was hosting a concert and not just any concert. This was her first all-tribe concert, where every troll would get to watch her perform and rock out on stage. Poppy, who was on the line with Branch, Smidge, Aggie, and DJ Suki, shouted, "Wow, guys! Val's concert doesn't even start for 8 hours, and there's already a line forming"! Branch replied, "Well, yeah! Word is that Val's concerts are a nonstop thrill ride! I heard she opens them by dropping from the sky"! Smidge then said, "I heard she smashes her guitar into a million pieces"! Aggie added, "I heard that she always picks one lucky troll near the end to go up on stage and perform a song with her"! Then, DJ Suki added, "I heard the pieces transform into birds which carry you off to a city in the clouds where you're crowned greatest DJ of all time"! Her friends looked at her confusingly as Dj Suki thought about it, stating, "Wait. Did I hear it, or did I dream it? Either way, I am ready to rock"! Everyone made the rock hand gesture, as Poppy commented, "Great, guys! Way to show support to a fellow Trollstopian. This is going to be such an awesome concert"!

Back at Rock Hollow, every rock troll was up and about, getting things set for tonight's epic concert. Melody had a clipboard in her hand as she was checking things off, shouting, "Ok, trolls! Keep it moving! Show starts in a couple of hours! Let's go,"! One rock troll came by with two spotlights, asking, "Which one"? Melody looked at them before saying, "The left one. Has a better light consistency." He nodded and pushed them away as she said, "Things are running smoothly. Soon, every troll is going to be lined up by that stage and chanting Val's name! Right now, nothing can stop us"! Then, she saw Val trudging over to a couch, groaning in frustration, as she laid on it, moping in sadness. Melody came over, asking, "Are you ok, Val? You seem bothered. What happened"? Val sat up, saying, "Demo, my band manager, had an accident! And now, he can't help me manage everything I have to do for tonight's show"! Melody became concerned as she said, "Oh no! Not Demo! What happened"?! Val explained, "Demo was sharpening his hair spikes so they would be extra pointy for the show, but then, he tripped, things started getting stuck, and now, he's in no condition to do anything! and it's not like he has a choice either way"! Val pointed to Melody's left as she saw Demo, laying on the ground, multiple objects caught in his spikes, including a tree branch, a beehive, and a Puffalo.

He groaned in agony, shouting, "Just so we're clear! I'm not ok! I can't manage like this! The show will have to be canceled"! Melody gasped as he said, "Not on my watch! Every troll is lining up outside, just itching to hear Val perform, and I won't let them be disappointed! Val, if Demo can't manage for you, why don't I be your manager"? Demo gasped as Val became hesitant, saying, "I don't know, Melly. Nothing against you or anything, but I am not an easy performer. I have my own way of doing things. You really think you can handle this"? Melody puffed up her chest in pride, saying, "Ha! You may be a performer, but you're also my cousin! And...who knows you better than family? Besides, I've seen all your rock concerts and know just what you do to get ready for them. Please"? Val thought about it for a minute before saying, "All right, You can be my manager, Melly." Melody jumped up, saying, "Trust me. by the time night falls, you're going to be in tip-rock shape"! Demo then spoke up, "Really, Melody? You think you can handle all the mundane logistics of managing? Like scheduling? Equipment check? Promotions and publicity? "Cause let me tell you, pink popcorn, this job ain't no glittering cupcake good-time jamboree or whatever thing the Pop trolls do"!

Melody raised her eyebrow at Demo and smirked, saying, "I can handle it, hedgehog. And what did I say about the popcorn joke"? Demo smirked right back, saying, "Come on, you know you love it." Melody frowned while blushing and turned her head away, while Val snickered, enjoying their amusing interaction before commenting, "Relax, Demo. She's pop and hard rock, so she's got the best of both worlds running through her veins. And if I know Melly the way she knows me, I think she can handle it." Demo then said, "Fine, but toughen up, Pinkie, because Val can be quite the handful. It's up to you to get her ready for the show! Up to you, ooh-ooh!" Melody rolled her eyes before launching her ponytail in a random direction, catching something while she said, "I got this." As she reeled in her catch, which turned out to be Val, who was trying to sneak away, she said, "Val! Sneaking away like that? I know something much more hardcore"! Val seemed to catch her drift as Melody tossed Val up before changing her hair into the shape of a cannon, with Val jumping inside. With a quick tug, Melody shouted, "Fire in the hole," as Val was launched right outside as she shouted, "Yeah! Epic," before disappearing into the sky, with her little cousin running to catch up to the flying Val.

At Stripe Smiley's Candy Bar, both cousins were placing their orders, with Val ordering an Extreme Sour Blaster Puckerball, and Melody ordering a box of caramel chocolate bites. As Smiley quickly got their orders, Melody then said, "All right. We have a lot to do to get you ready for the show. Wardrobe, we got! Hair and makeup, we got, and you rock as always, Val! Vulnerable manager-to-rockstar sharing time? Ok, who wrote this list because I surely don't remember putting that down"?! When Val heard that, she asked, "If you didn't put that there, then who did"? Poppy came rushing over with a clipboard of her own, saying, "I did! I heard Demo saying that you were going to be Val's substitute manager, and I volunteered my services to help." Val facepalmed as Melody explained, "Sorry Poppy, but I don't need any help. Besides, I already have a list prepared to help Val prepare for her show, and so far, vulnerable sharing time is not a part of that list," as Melody took a pen and crossed that portion out. She then said, "Here, Poppy, you can see what we have down for Val's pre-show agenda on my list," as she tossed Poppy her clipboard, allowing Poppy to read it. Poppy skimmed through it, reading, "Bungee jumping? Volcano spelunking?! Arctic slingshotting?!?! Sticking your head in a predator's mouth"?!?!?! Val was doing air guitar solos as Poppy read off the list while Melody explained, "See, unlike most concerts, with Val, before every show, she always does stuff like that to find her special...edge. That's what allows her to do epic smashes, awesome entrances, and perfect rock-solid performances! Woo"!

Poppy sighed and said, "Val, Melody, give me a break. This is just a list of reckless antics and mischief." Val happily replied, "Uh, duh! How else am I supposed to give my shows their wild aside if I don't do any reckless or death-defying"? However, Poppy did not seem to buy it as she tossed Melody her clipboard back, saying, "Sorry, girls. Not buying it. You don't have to go tornado sledding to play a good show. And Melody, how are you allowing this? You're supposed to be responsible for her! You're her manager"! Melody placed her arms behind her head while responding, "I am. I am responsible for helping my older cousin find her edge before her concert so she can put on an epic show." Poppy facepalmed before saying, "That's not what I meant! Seriously, you need to act more responsibly- Val? Melody"? When she uncovered her eyes, she saw that Val and Melody were replaced by two taffy sculptures of them, which Smiley took a bite out of and said, "Your friends have pulled the old taffy-and-run classic"! Poppy groaned as she said, "I have to find them before they get hurt," as Poppy ran off to find Val and Melody. Throughout her search, Val and Melody were doing epic risk-defining activities to help Val find her edge.

Poppy: Where are you going? I gotta know! I need some answers before you get up and go, oh-oh, ooh-oh (Melody and Val: Go, go, go, go)! Oh-oh, ooh-oh (Melody and Val: Go, go, go, go)! Yeah, and I'll keep searching the Earth until you are found! I'll keep my eye on the prize and feet on the ground!

All: I'll keep on running and running and running around after you! I won't be stopping until such time that I do! Oh, I'll be ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chasing! After you!

Melody: We gotta keep moving! There's no time to waste! We won't quit till you start feeling edgy all over the place, oh-oh, ooh-oh (Poppy and Val: Go, go, go, go)! Oh-oh, ooh-oh (Poppy and Val: Go, go, go, go)! Yeah, and we'll keep running around till you are all set. Will you find your edge! You bet!

All: I'll keep on running and running and running around after you! I won't be stopping until such time that I do! Oh, I'll be ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chasing! After you!

Val: The concert's starting very soon, and we've done so much since half-past noon! But if you think we're stopping, then you're sadly mistaken!

Melody and Val: 'Cause we'll keep doing risks until the Earth is a-shakin'!

Poppy: Time's running out, and barely anything's done! It's like trying to find the moon behind the shining sun! But I can't quit now, 'cause I cutting it close! Where could they be, do you suppose?

All: I'll keep on running and running and running around after you! I won't be stopping until such time that I do! Oh, I'll be ch-ch-chasing! I'll be ch-ch-chasing! I'll be ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chasing! After you!

After colliding into the duo, who was ground surfing from the Vibe City spaceship, Poppy had finally found them as she said while getting up, "Val, Melody! Where have you two been"? Val started to say, "We've been," as both cousins sang loudly, "Finding my/Val's edge, yeah! We've been over this"! Poppy facepalmed as she stated, "Fine, but the concert starts in less than half an hour, and we need to get you the venue, Val"! Val shrugged her off by saying, "We'll get there, but we have to finish the list first, right manager"? Melody nodded, saying, "That's right! And right now, we're about to do the next thing on her list," as Melody gave a loud whistle, signaling a huge vehicle to show up. Poppy's jaw dropped in shock as Val was in awe, saying, "Awesome! Melly, what is that?! Did I die and go to rock heaven"?! Melody chuckled, saying, "Val, meet the one and only Dune Huggy, with all-wheel drive, turbo speed, and tight hugs at every corner." Val jumped up and said, "Yeah! Now, that's what I'm talking about," as she ran to sit in the driver's seat. Poppy recovered to shout in frustration, "Wait a minute! That's MY Dune Huggy! Where did you get it"?! Melody flipped through the list, saying, "Number 87) Carjack a sweet hot ride for Val to drive recklessly. Sorry, not sorry," as Val turned it on a drove passed Poppy, splattering her with mud, while shouting, "See you at the concert, Popsqueak"!

Poppy shook off the mud before saying in anger, "Alright, I did not have to do this, but you two left me no choice," as she stormed off to come up with a plan to rope the hard rock cousins once and for all. Meanwhile, Val was driving like crazy, feeling the wind blow through her hair as she shouted, "Woo! This is great! Melody, I mean every sincere bone in my body when I say this, but you are the best manager ever"! Melody smiled, shouting back, "And you're my favorite client ever! Now, let's do number 91) loop-de-loop until you turn green"! Val shouted in excitement before stopping to cough as Melody asked, "Are you ok? That didn't sound too good." Val reassured her, saying, "I'm alright. Just felt something tickle my throat. Now, let's start those stomach-churning loop-de-loops," as she stepped on the acceleration pedal, driving on the looping branches with great speed.

Val and Melody were doing supersonic doughnuts on the Dune Huggy after doing many loop-de-loops and an almost near-barfing experience. Once Val stopped, Melody checked something off her list as she said, "Well, we are almost done. There's just one last thing to do, and as they say, we've saved the best for last." Val knew just what she meant as she said, "Bungee-jumping. Sweet," before breaking into another coughing fit. Melody became a bit concerned as she asked, "Are you sure you're alright? You've been coughing for quite a while ever since we carjacked the Dune Huggy." Val shook her head before saying, "I'm alright, just a little thirsty maybe. My throat's feeling dry and a bit scratchy from all the yelling." Melody gave her a water bottle as Val chugged it down before crushing it on her head, saying, "Alright, I'm all good now. Let's go." However, just before they could go, Poppy stood in front of them, saying, "Halt! You've taken your last joy ride, Val and Melody! We're getting you to the concert if it's the last thing we do." Val smirked at Melody before saying in a mocking tone, "Oh no! I'm so scared. I should just surrender now before Popsqueak does something bad," as Melody laughed at her older cousin's hilarious impression before saying, "We can't. As her manager, Val has one more thing to do before the concert. And you are aware that you are vastly outnumbered. It's three against one." Surprisingly, Poppy was calm as she said, "Oh, yeah, you're right. "Your" powerful Dune Huggy is nowhere near as great as my scarce, turbo-powered, supersonic flyer bug." Val's jaw dropped as she stammered, "W-W-W-Wait! Extremely rare? Turbo powered? Supersonic? Flyer bug"?! Poppy then pulled it out as Melody and Val were intrigued while Poppy said, "I was probably a bit harsh earlier, so, let me make you a deal. If you return the Dune Huggy, you both can have the flyer bug. So, we got a deal"?

Melody then seemed to catch something on the flyer bug as she said, "OK. You have a deal." Val and Melody hopped out of the Dune Huggy and walked towards the flyer bug while Poppy calmly walked towards the Dune Huggy. Val was ready to hop on, but Melody stopped her, saying, "Hold on, Val. Something about this isn't right." She then went up to it and poked it in its eyes, the eyes keeping the finger impressions. Val gasped as she said, "It's fake?! Then that means...we've been duped"! Hearing the sound of an engine roaring behind them, both cousins turned and looked on in horror as Poppy, who was in the driver's seat, said, "And duped, bad. Now, let's get to that venue"! She stepped on the gas pedal and drove towards them as both cousins screamed and jumped out the way in time before making a run for it. However, they could only go so far without losing their breath, and Poppy was catching up to them fast. Hiding behind a tree, Val asked Melody in a panic, "Melly, what do we do? I haven't found my edge yet, but Poppy won't let up"! Melody looked up and saw the big, fluffy clouds, as she snapped her fingers, saying, "We do the last thing on your list! Bungee jump from those clouds and launch ourselves into the sky like rockets"! Val loved that idea as she said, "I like the way you think, Melly"!

Both trolls scaled to the top of the tree they were hiding before measuring their jump. Then, Val saw that they were near a lake as she asked mischievously, "What do you say we send Poppy for a swim"? Melody nodded, saying, "It is feeling a bit...hot out here, and with Poppy's anger levels today...tsk tsk tsk. She could use a moment to...cool down." Once they timed it just right, Val and Melody jumped, attaching their hair to a nearby cloud as the force started to build. They awaited for Poppy, who had spotted them and shouted, "I've gotcha now"! She started to drive towards them as Val shouted, "Hey, Popsqueak! You know what they like to say in show business"? When Poppy shouted, "What," Melody replied, "When in doubt, there's nowhere else to go, but up"! At that moment, they pushed up and dodged Poppy just in time, as the pop queen drove the Dune Huggy into the lake while Melody and Val bungee jumped and were sent flying into the sky. Poppy, soaked and agitated, said, "Ugh! Why did I not see this coming," as the Dune Huggy honked in sadness.

At the venue, the crowd was eagerly awaiting for Val's show to begin. Val and Melody safely landed backstage with two minutes to spare as they both high-fived and shared a laugh about the awesome fun they had. Demo, who greeted them backstage, and was now sporting a shaved mohawk, said, "On time, ladies. I must say I'm impressed. Val looks edgy and prepared to perform. Mel, how was being her manager today"? Melody exclaimed, "It was so much fun! We got everything done, and Val and I had a blast achieving her list together. She is fired up, has her edge, and is ready to kill it out there"! Demo smiled in approval, saying, "Wow, seems like you have manager material, kiddo. Val, how was your experience with Melody"? However, when Val tried to speak, she found herself unable to say a word. All she could produce was what sounded like a hoarse cry. Demo asked, "Uh, was that supposed to be a new way to say cool"? Melody gasped, saying, "Oh no, Val! You lost your voice! All the screaming must've strained your vocal cords and made your throat sore. This is bad! Val can't sing without her voice! What do we do"?! Val looked really upset, not only because she lost her voice, but because now that she was unable to sing, she wouldn't be able to impress the crowd. Demo sighed, saying, "I guess the show will have to be canceled after all."

Melody placed a fist in her hand, saying, "No! There has to be another way to perform and sing without having to use her own voice. Think, guys, and fast! The concert's about to start"! Val then seemed to suggest something as she first pointed at Melody, then mimiced a guitar solo, then pretended to sing into a microphone. Demo seemed to catch what she was trying to say as she explained, "It seems like she wants you to sing for her, Mel." Melody was a little surprised as she said, "What? Really"? Val dropped to her knees and did a begging position, giving Melody what looked like pleading eyes as Melody smiled, saying, "As your manager, I promised to make sure not only you were ready for the concert, but also had everything you feed. While you lost something important, I can give you something that can help. My assistance. Of course, I will sing for you, Val." With that, Melody grabbed her guitar and said, "Let's rock," as they both walked onto the stage, Val starting things off with hr legendary guitar smash, which riled up the crowd excitedly. The pieces then became birds and picked up DJ Suki, who shouted, "I knew it"! Poppy, who was still soaked and now had seaweed in her hair, looked around in disbelief that not only everything was set up, but Val was performing and in top condition. Demo, seeing Poppy's reaction, came over, saying, "Now you see why I told you Melody had it earlier? Aside from being Val's cousin, she has a knack for being a leader and doing things for her friends and family, rather than herself. She looks out for the success of them, not her own, and that's why she makes a great manager." Poppy, a little silent, said, "Gee, I guess I never thought of it like that. They did all those crazy things so that Val can put on an epic performance like this...she really is a great manager. I was wrong to think that she was just doing rebellious, reckless nonsense with Val. She really knew what to do, more than I could even consider, to begin with."

After the awesome concert ended, hours later, Melody came over to Val with some green tea with every troll excited and happy, saying, "Here. I put some honey and lemon to help soothe your throat." Val took a sip, and she gave a small nod as a way of saying thank you. Then, both trolls saw Poppy come up to them as Melody said, "Hey, Poppy. You doing ok,"? Poppy sighed before saying, "Guys, I owe you an apology. I really wasn't a good friend today. I thought I knew how to manage you guys, but you had it better than I did, Melody. You knew what you were doing to help Val while I acted like a crazy buffoon. I did not act like a good queen, and I'm sorry." Melody smiled as she said, "It's cool, Poppy. You just didn't know that rock trolls have a different managing style than pop trolls or other kinds of trolls. If it makes you feel any better, I should also apologize for the carjacking and sending you into that lake. Guess I took my job a bit too seriously and also had too much fun with it. My rock roots kind of took over, and while I had a lot of fun, I also wasn't very nice to you. So I'm sorry too, Poppy." Val nodded and motioned, and I'm sorry as well while Poppy said, "It's ok. You were only doing your job, and you did a terrific job at it. Everyone had so much fun at that concert. Guess I still have a lot to learn about the ways of the hard rock trolls." Val and Melody chuckled as Melody added, "The same way we still have a lot to learn about you and your leadership skills." As the trio shared a group hug, Demo clapped and said, "Beautiful, touching moment, ladies. So beautiful, yeah yeah! As he jumped up, his spiky mohawk sliced through a couple of poles and brought them down near him. Poppy and Val snickered as Melody commented, "You have got to stop giving your hair sharp edges, so it doesn't cause disasters like that, Saw." As Demo sheepishly blushed, Poppy and Melody broke into laughter as Val silently laughed while in the sky, DJ suki was still getting flown away as she shouted happily, "I knew it," late into the night.
