Cheery Glo-Mato

I do not own Trolls or Trollstopia in any way or form. Today, I also do not own the song and the lyrics that I will be using either. Melody Song, Mal Shredder, Buckaroo, and McJagger are my O.C.s and belong to me, while Aggie belongs to I.M. Rally. Now, let's get this underway and enjoy today's fun spin on the Cheery Glo-mato!

Poppy: You can do it solo!

Branch: But then you'd be all by yourself.

Aggie and Synth: (Synth: Yo!) So, it'd be more fun to share this one with someone else! (Tiny Diamond: Hit it, daddy!)

Rhythm and Blues: Together, we will soar across the sky and beyond!

Holly Darling: So, tune-up your voice!

Val Thundershock and Melody Song: Stand up and sing along!

All: All different voices (Tiny Diamond: Everbody now!), our melodies ringing. We're living in harmony! Yeah, we're living in harmony! Our song is much stronger will every troll singing. We're living in harmony!

Cheery Glo-mato

At Rock Hollow, Val was in the middle of an epic guitar solo, the crowd cheering and screaming her name. Within the crowd, Melody was cheering on her older cousin as Val was entering the final chords. Then, she jumped and smashed her guitar as the crowd, suddenly, stopped their cheers, leaving only Demo to say, "Yow! Way to rock"! Melody was surprised as she said to herself, "Weird. That never happened before when Val smashes her guitar. usually, the crowd is roaring when that happens." Meanwhile, Val was looking at her guitar as she said, "That smash...it felt so...dissatisfying." Melody climbed up onto the stage as she asked Val, "Are you feeling ok? Usually, you seem more excited when you smash like that." Val replied, "I don't know, Melly. I guess...it's just...I can't end an epic solo with a bland smash! I'm craving something...new." Melody thought for a minute before replying, "Well then, let's go out there and find something new for you to smash that'll make you scream "YOW" once again." Val liked that idea as she playfully punched Melody's shoulder while saying, "Rock on, kiddo. We're going on a road trip"! Melody quickly interrupted her older cousin by saying, "Hold up. If you're going on a smashing road trip," before rushing to grab her guitar and coming back, saying, "You're going to need a smashing partner"! Val was a little surprised as she said, "Really? Didn't think you'd want to do something like this considering your pop roots, no offense." Melody smiled and said, "None take, and normally, that would be true, but if it's to help you find your mojo again, then I'm hands down. Besides, don't forget I'm also part rock, and I haven't had a good smashing circuit in a while. Even the most positive trolls need to burn off some energy recklessly." Val chuckled before saying, "Melly, you seem to surprise me almost every day. Now, let's go find my smashing mojo"!

With that, Val and Melody, accompanied by Demo and a few other rock trolls, went around smashing random objects in the hope of Val gaining a sense of satisfaction with each smash. So far, the duo smashed a glittery mushroom (Val thought it was too dry), a sea shell (Val thought it was too crunchy), and a pinata. Well, technically, Melody smashed the pinata since Val stated that it was too obvious. Nothing seemed to give Val that special adrenaline rush as she was beginning to get frustrated. Melody comforted her by saying, "Hey, don't give up. There's got to be something we can smash here that'll give you that satisfaction. We need to know where to look to find that perfect "smashable" item." Val looked around before spotting something in the distance. Growing from the ground near the cornfields was a cheery glow-mato, a rare delicacy in Country Corral. The glow of the glo-mato brought Val and Melody over to look at it as Val asked out of curiosity, "What is that thing"? Melody said, "According to troll plant history, it looks to be a glo-mato. A bright and juicy fruit to eat that a lot of trolls make a delectable tomato sauce out of, but some of them are rare to find, and it's even rarer to grow them because you need the environmental conditions to-" before Val interrupted with, "Yeah, yeah. Enough with the details. Let's smash this glo-mato"! Val ran towards it and used her guitar to smash it, making the fruit explode and cover Melody in it, some of it landing in her mouth. She quickly swallowed, saying, "Despite being sticky now in the glo-mato residue, it's delicious. Sweet and juicy." The crowd cheered for Val as she commented, "That, mwah, hit the spot"! She then saw Melody covered in the glo-mato residue as she snickered, saying, "Sorry 'bout that, Melly. Let's get you cleaned up so we can relish in my awesome smash," as she playfully used her finger to remove some of the residues off Melody's shoulder and tasted it, saying, "Hmm...needs salt."

As both cousins left the now messy site of the destroyed plant, they failed to consider an important idea. What they didn't know was that this was not a wild-growing glo-mato. Someone had planted it, and now, they were going to be in for a horrible surprise. Buckaroo was taking a stroll down by the area when she saw that the cheery glo-mato was no longer on the branch. She gasped and galloped as fast as she could to town, trying to find Holly and Poppy. Once in town, she stumbled into the building, shouting, "Holly! Poppy! Thay cheery glo-mato y'all was a-growin'! It's been smashed into smithereens"! The two trolls, who were dressed in gardening gear, turned and gasped at the words Buckaroo had just told them as Buckaroo pointed out the door while saying, "Follow me ayn' ay'll show y'all!" as they ran/galloped as fast as their legs could carry them. Son, they reached the sight as Holly gasped and said in sadness, "My cheery glo-mato! What happened to my cheery glo-mato"?! Poppy inspected the sight as she says, "I don't know. Maybe something might've stepped on it by accident." Buckaroo pulled out a magnifying glass and looked at the remaining juices, stating, "This here was naw accident. Ay've been ayy detective at Lonesome Flats faw years ayn' during my time, ay have done gained the ability ta sense if something were an accident aw nahwt. This here was ayy crime ov satisfacshun. Ayn' judging by these juice splatters, ay don't think some troll stepped on thay ...uhh glo-mato. It was smashed by ayy foreign object." Holly grew really upset as she then said, "Thay cheery glo-mato now isn't thay only thing ay'm upset about, but also thay fact that there whoever done smash it didn't even stay ta apologize aw tell me that there they have done this here."

Poppy tried to comfort Holly by saying, "It'll be ok, Holly. We'll figure out who smashed it." Buckaroo tipped her cowgirl hat while saying, "Y'all ken count on me ta faand out who done it, Ms. Holly. Detective Buckaroo is on the case." Buckaroo used her finger to taste some of the remaining juices before beginning to walk in a different direction, leaving a distraught Holly and Queen Poppy to try and help her feel better. Back at Rock Hollow, Val was retelling her tale of the smashing to some friends when Melody came over, scratching her arms, while saying, "At least you got your mojo back, Val." Val turned around and started to say, "Well, you helped out a lot Mel-," before seeing her cousin scratching her arms. She raised an eyebrow while asking, 'What's the matter? You itchy or something"? Melody answered in frustration, "I don't know! Ever since we got back and I cleaned myself up, I've been feeling really itchy. I washed my clothes three times, and I still feel it! I don't know why or how it even started"! Val then noticed a red spot on her right cheek as she realized what was going on. She covered her hands with her mouth before saying, "We need to get you to Moonbloom's now." No, Melody grew worried as she asked in concern, "What? Why,"?! Val shouted, "I know why you're itchy all of a sudden! I just remembered...you're allergic to cheery glo-matoes"! Melody screamed a big loud, "What," before putting her hands over her throat as if she was struggling to breathe. The sight was not only breaking Val's heart, but it made most of the other rock trolls mightily concerned.

Val whistled for Demo, shouting, "Get Melody to Moonbloom's! Now"! Demo nodded and called for a medical rock bus as two rock trolls picked Melody up and brought her inside, allowing the bus to take off at a mighty speed. As the bus rushed by, Buckaroo noticed this as she became suspicious, saying, "Hmmm...wonduurr what's a-going' on in there." She started to head towards the entrance as she then overheard Val talking to Demo, saying in a distressed voice, "It's my fault, Demo! If I had remembered that she was allergic to those things, I'd never have smashed it, to begin with! Curse that...that...entrancing cheery glo-mato"! Buckaroo gasped as she said, " So, Val is the smashuurr. Ayn' on top ov that there, Melody's allergic ta glo-matoes. She must've eaten it by accident when Val smashed it. Ay bettuurr, tell Holly ayn' Poppy about this here." With that, she rushed back to tell Holly and Poppy about the news as Val was being comforted by Demo, both trolls worried about Melody's well-being. However, that wasn't the only thing that was bugging her at the moment. She was beginning to feel a sense of dread inside, like it was sticking around her heart, making it hard to focus without being so terrified or upset.

Val decided that she needed some time alone in her bedroom, hoping to help her relax and be rid of this feeling. However, it kept getting worse and worse, and suddenly, Val felt like she saw the glo-mato everywhere. On stage, in her bed, in the guitar room, etc. Everywhere she went, it seemed to appear despite being smashed over two hours ago. When Val felt like she was losing it, she let out a scream in terror, saying, "I must be losing my mind! I got to do something! I have to-," but before she could rush out of her bedroom, the door slammed her hard into the wall as Buckaroo entered, saying, "Val? Ya in here"? When she heard a small groan, she pulled the door away and saw that she had accidentally knocked Val Thundershock out. Deciding that this could provide a good learning opportunity, she picked up Val and brought her back to Country Corral. Inside her house, she laid Val on the floor before dumping a bucket of water on her, causing the rock troll to wake up instantly. As Val shot up, Buckaroo commented, "Darn good. You finally awake. Ay did think that there ay would have ta wake ya up ayy different way if the watuurr didn't work." Sitting up while seeing that she was drenched, Val commented, "I didn't exactly order a wake-up call or a shower, Buckaroo." Buckaroo tipped her hat while saying, "Y'all didn't exactly awduurr ayy glo-mato smashing eithuurr. Naw ayy hospital trip faw y'all's cousin." Val gasped as she asked, "How did you find out about that," Buckaroo sternly replied, "That there doesn't matter now. What matters is that there ya has done had smashed Holly's hand-grown, prize-winning, cheery glo-mato, witch she was gunna entuurr thay ...uhh county fair with. So, what matters most raheet now is that there y'all owe thay ...err poor country ambassadaw an apology, ayn' nahwt just some "we're cool" apology. Ayy heart-felt one with a-feelin' ayn' empathy."

Val facepalmed before saying, "First off, I didn't even know that the glo-mato came from her. If someone had told me or put up a sign about it, I would've ignored it...probably. Second, you know I don't do feelings. And third, what the heck's empathy"? Buckaroo sighed before saying, "Empathy is when y'all think about how anothuurr troll is a-feelin'. Basically put, it's when ya put you in theuurr clod-hoppers ta understand how they feel ayn' how ya might feel if ya was a-goin' through the same thing." Val did not seem to get it as Buckaroo clicked her hooves while saying, "Think ov it like this here, Val. How would ya feel if anothuurr troll just miscellaneously smashed something ya cherished so much, ta gain ayy sense av satisfaction"? Val thought about it as she answered, "Well, I guess...I wouldn't feel too happy about it. In fact, I'd be upset. Furious at the troll who broke it, to begin with"! Buckaroo nodded while saying, "Now, how do y'all think Holly is a-feelin' at the moment about y'all smashing huurr prized cheery glo-mato"? Val bit her lip as she answered, "She's probably distraught and mad at me, especially if she had already found out that it was me who had smashed it in the first place." Buckaroo nodded and smiled, saying, "There y'all go, sugar. Now, when ya go apologizing ta Holly, ay know ya done might think some crazy rok numbuurr will do the trick. But instead av a-tryin' ta spread y'all's message through music, spread it through y'all's emotions ayn' tell huurr that there y'all truly feel awful bad faw huurr ayn' that there y'all are sawry faw what y'all has done." Val nodded at Buckaroo's words, saying, "I will," as she walked out to find Holly.

After some time looking around, she found Holly by the destroyed plant with Poppy trying to console her, but with no effect. Val took a deep breath before walking up to Holly, who looked up at the rock ambassador and said a quiet, "Hey, Val." Val knew that this was worse than she thought but knew that she had to apologize with empathy if she would ever feel normal again and better about herself. So, she took a deep breath and said, "Holly, I need to tell you something. I'm...sorry for smashing your glo-mato. I didn't even know that it was you that was growing it, and I, absentmindedly, didn't even think about asking before doing it. I may not have known much about that glo-mato, but what I do know is that you cared about it a lot. So much that when you found it smashed, it made you really upset...and I can relate to losing something close to you. I...almost lost Melody today." That was enough to perk their attention to an all-time high as Poppy said, 'What? What do you mean"? Val continued with, "When I smashed the glo-mato, she ate some of it by accident...and had a severe allergic reaction to it. And the worst part was that I forgot that she was allergic to them and had let her eat the juices anyway. I know you're outraged with me, and I know I deserve it one hundred percent, but...I just wanted you to know...that I truly am sorry, and I'm sorry if this apology sounds a bit...weird, especially because of this new thing I learned called...empanada." Buckaroo shouted from a distance, "Empathy," as Val shook her head before continuing with, "Empathy, right. Anyway, I hope you can find it in your heart, Holly, to forgive me. And if not, it's ok...because I deserve it for being a terrible friend."

Holly looked at Val for a minute before getting up and walking to her while saying, "Val...I forgive you. I know you made an honest mistake, and it makes me feel a bit better knowing that you're coming clean about it now rather than later. Plus, the fact that you used empathy... really helped show me that you truly cared about how I was feeling. It shows that you really are a good friend, Val, no matter what. So...thank you, Val." She brought the hard rock ambassador into a hug as Val, surprised as she was, allowed her to continue for a couple of seconds before separating, saying, "Ok, getting there, but not completely comfortable with hugs yet." Suddenly, a new voice chipped in, saying, "Glad to see someone's feeling better." Holly, Poppy, and Val turned and saw that the voice came from a fully-recovered Melody, which excited Val as she ran and hugged her cousin tightly while Poppy said, "Melody! You're all better! But I thought you were in the hospital." Melody answered, "I was, but thanks to Demo's friends, I got there in time, and Moonbloom injected me with a serum that helped me recover to my normal self again. Though she did warn me not to eat any more glo-matoes to avoid a situation like that again." Buckaroo came trotting in to join up with them, saying, "Yippe-ky-yay! Now that there's something ta cheuurr about"! Val smiled, adding, "Yep, and as cheesy as this may sound, I actually learned something today from this whole experience: the power of empathy." Holly then said, "Aw, bring it in, ladies," as she used her hair to bring everyone into a big group hug as Poppy and Melody started humming a catchy tune.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Think About How Someone Else Is Feeling by Daniel T.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All: Think about how someone else is feeling. Think about how someone else feels. Maybe you can help them feel better.
Val: In a smashing spree, I smashed a prized glo-mato plant. But my destruction made Holly really sad. I could tell that she was upset, so I said, "I'm sorry," and she felt better.
Val and Holly: Think about how someone else is feeling. Maybe you can help them feel better.
Melody and Buckaroo: We were playing soccer and gave the ball a whack.
Poppy: It hit my crown and made it crack.
Melody and Buckaroo: We saw how Poppy felt and helped her fix the crown.
Poppy, Melody, and Buckaroo: And that made us all feel better.
All: Think about how someone else is feeling. Think about how someone else feels. Maybe you can help them feel better.
Once the group had separated from the hug, Val then asked Holly, "Holly, is there anything I can do to make up for what I did to you"? Holly thought about it for a minute before saying, "Whel, there is one thing ya can do. Y'all see, ay done thought that something like this here might happen, so ay planted anothuurr glo-mato plant a few weeks ago if something happened to the original one. It's still only ayy baby, though. Ya, ken helps me grow it in the faw the fauurr next month" Val seemed to like that idea as she said, "Sure thing. What do you need? Water? Soil? Licorice"? Poppy and Buckaroo looked at one another in a weirded out fashion as Melody shrugged, saying, "Well, you can't go wrong with licorice." Holly chuckled before saying, "Actually, ay have something else in maand." Soon, all five of them were dressed in white cheerleading outfits and holding pompoms and Val, embarrassed as she was, said, "Alright, let's get this over with." With that, they all jumped and shouted in unison, "Glow glo-mato! Glow, glo-mato! Glow, glo-mato, glow"! Suddenly, the tiny fruit grew and began to give on a nice red glow as everyone jumped up and cheered in victory.
