Amnesic Poppy

Aggie was pulling back what looked like a giant rubber band and connecting it to a huge gear when Melody came over, saying, "Hey, Aggie. What's rocking on over here"? When she noticed Aggie's newest contraption, she tilted her head in confusion and asked while taking a look at it, "Uh, Aggs. By all that is trolly, what the heck is this"? The Magical Musical troll replied while turning a hand crank that was connected to a giant bucket, "It's a catapult. Buckaroo suggested that we needed one, so I volunteered to build it." Melody was still confused as she then asked, "Ok, new question. Why did Buckaroo want a catapult"? Aggie then got a fun idea as she cleared her throat before saying in a country accent/voice impression of Buckaroo, "Because y'all nevuurr know when ayy criminal tries ta outrun ya. So, ayy catapult oughta give ya ayy awful huge boost ayn' get 'em befawe he ken even see ya frawum behaand aw up in front." Melody snickered from Aggie's voice impression, commenting, "Hey, that's actually pretty good." Aggie blushed before saying, "Anyways, it's not done yet. I'm still working out a few kinks in the launch mechanism. And I'm still missing a large spring that I can attach to the bottom of this bucket so that way when the catapult launches the arm, it doesn't go all the way up or fly off the axel." Melody thought for a minute before saying, "You know, I think I remember seeing a large spring in R and B's spaceship. Maybe you can ask them if they could lend it to you." Aggie snapped her fingers, saying, "Melody, you're a genius! I'll go right now. Can you watch this for me and make sure no one goes on it until I come back"? Melody nodded, replying as she gave a small salute, 'You can count on me, Master of All Music."

Aggie flew off as Melody walked around the catapult, looking at it while saying, "Sweet guitar picks, this is some good stuff. Aggie sure has a knack for creating big things like this." Melody then looked to see if anyone was around before saying to herself, "She said to make sure no one else touched it...but she didn't say I couldn't...climb into the bucket. Just to see if it'll fit a troll my size." Melody hopped into the bucket, commenting, "Ooh! This is awesome! And on a scientific note, at least I am comfortable in here. This bucket's big enough to hold about three country trolls." Melody then looked over at the levers and gears, saying, "Now, if Aggie were to launch someone from here, which lever would activate it"? Melody reached her hand over and pulled a red lever back while saying, "Maybe it's- THIS ONE"! In that instance, the catapult activated and launched Melody into the air as fast as a rocket, leaving the pop/rock troll to scream as she flew across the sky. In town, Smidge and Biggie, with Mr. Dinkles watching on a rock, were swinging a jump rope while Poppy was jumping, saying, "How many jellybeans can you name? Cherry, orange, grape, strawberry, blueberry, cran-," but stopped when she heard what sounded like something falling and screaming really loud. Smidge and Biggie looked up to see what was making that noise as Smidge gasped and widened her eyes in shock, saying, "Oh my guh! Up there,"! Poppy looked up and saw Melody falling towards them as she shouted, "Oh no! Melody's falling! Quick! We need to catch her,"! Smidge, Poppy, and Biggie grouped together and were ready to catch Melody while the falling pop/rock troll commented, "I ain't dying today"!

She saw a tree branch and launched her hair as it wrapped around the branch and acted as a vine, making Melody swing to the ground. However, she was moving faster than she anticipated, shouting, "Too fast! Too fast"! Melody saw that she was about to hit her friends as she motioned them to move, shouting, "Get out of the way! Now"! Smidge and Biggie dove to the side, but before Poppy could run, Melody collided with the pop queen, leaving the two to tumble and roll right into Striped Smiley's Candy Bar with a huge crash. Many of the nearby trolls in the area looked on in concern as Smidge and Biggie ran to them, with Biggie saying, "Poppy? Melody? Are you both alright"?! Melody got up, holding her head and looking at her now multi-colored stained clothes while saying, "Well, my head hurts, and I'm covered in some sticky taffy. But other than that, I'm ok. How about you, Poppy? Poppy"? Melody turned around to look for Poppy, only for Biggie and Smidge to gasp and see that Poppy, who was staring at them dumbfoundedly, was stuck to Melody's back! Melody turned around to face her friends again, asking, "Does anyone know where Poppy is? Also, what the heck's on my back?! Get it off"! Smidge shouted, "Wait, Melody! It's Poppy who's on your back"! Melody was confused as she lifted her arms to feel her back, only to end up feeling Poppy's arms, as the queen of pop asked in confusion, "Uh, what are you doing"? Melody let out a startled scream as she shouted, "Holy troll! Poppy's stuck to me! Or...I'm stuck to her? Either way, someone help us get unstuck now! Please"! Smidge and Bigge came over and tried to pull the two apart, only for Melody and Poppy to remain stuck, no matter how hard their friends pulled. After a while, Smidge and Biggie stopped to catch their breath, as Biggie commented, "Man. This is some sticky taffy."

Striped Smiley soon appeared from the booth, saying, "It's not just any taffy, my good sir. It's our newest, state-of-the-art, gum taffy, the stickiest taffy we've ever created." Melody was holding in the urge to facepalm since she and Poppy were still covered in some of the regular taffy, as she commented, "GUM Taffy?! And you decided TODAY of all days to bring it out"?! Striped Smiley nodded and happily replied, "Yes indeed! Today is the best day to bring it out for everyone to enjoy," before disappearing again. Melody groaned in frustration as Smidge came up to her, saying, "Don't worry, Melody. We'll get you and Poppy unstuck, and who knows? If our attempts don't work, then maybe it'll wear off, and you can break yourself free easily." Biggie tried to make things better by saying, "Besides, your situation isn't so bad." Melody gave me a "Are you kidding me" look as she retorted, "Not so bad? I got shot out of a catapult, I'm covered in taffy, though it is delicious, and I'm stuck to the queen of pop! I mean, yes, she's my friend and all, but I can't be stuck to her! Well, at least this day can't get any worse, right"? That was about to change when Poppy spoke up, asking, "Uh, pardon me for asking, but who are all of you"? Smidge and Biggie gasped as Melody let out a frustrated scream, shouting, "Why do I keep saying that"?! Smidge came up to Poppy, asking, "Poppy, you don't remember us"? Poppy tilted her head, or tried to at least, and asked, "Who's Poppy? And why am I stuck to a sad troll"? Melody's jaw dropped as she started to retort, "What? Sad tr-," but was able to calm down and say, "Ok, I know what this is. You're probably trying to lighten the mood with a prank. Very funny. Now, quit the act and wiggle yourself free." Poppy tried to turn her head so she could look at Melody, asking, "What's a joke? And who are you? Why are you stuck to me, and why do you look so upset"?

Melody groaned as she replied, "Ok, this joke is getting old, Poppy. Now, stop it and try to pull yourself off me"! Biggie then commented, "Uh, Melody, I don't think Poppy's joking. I think she really doesn't remember us," as Mr. Dinkles meowed in concern. Smidge then mentioned, "We need to see Dr. Moonbloom, just to make sure." Melody sighed and replied, "Ok, anything to get Poppy off my back, literally! Let's go,"! The group started to walk towards Dr. Moonbloom's office as the doctor examined Poppy to see what could be wrong. Poppy seemed fine throughout the examination until Biggie asked, "Well, give it to us straight doc. Will she be alright"? Moonbloom replied, "Well, everything seems normal, but according to what you informed me, I have to see if my suspicions are confirmed. Poppy, what is your name, the name of your fiancee, and your job"? Poppy shrugged and answered, "I don't know, I don't have a fiancee, and I don't work." Everyone gasped as Moonbloom wrote this down, saying, 'It's as I feared. Poppy has...amnesia." Smidge and Biggie screamed in shock as Smidge shouted, "No! Not amnesia! Anything but that! Uh...what's amnesia"? Dr. Moonbloom gave Smidge a pamphlet as the yellow troll opened it, the pamphlet reading, "You have amnesia! That means you lost your memories and can't remember a thing! Don't worry because it's only temporary! And if you're stuck with it for life, think of it as a chance to make new ones! Yay"! Melody groaned as she shouted, "How is this a good thing?! You mean Poppy might never remember again"?! Moonbloom reassured her by saying, "Do not fret. From what I've seen, it seems like Poppy's case is mild, and her memories shall return in due time." Poppy crossed her arms and replied, "I did not lose my memories. Why are we here again...and who's the purple doctor troll"?

Melody grimaced and let out another frustrated shout, adding, 'This is a nightmare! And it's all my fault! I got shot out of a catapult because I was too curious and messed with it. I'm covered in this sticky and sweet taffy! Poppy's stuck to my back! And worst of all, she has amnesia and can't remember a thing! This is the worst day of my life! I'm stuck with the worst luck of the century today of all days"! With Poppy still stuck to her back, Melody hopped onto the examination table and began to sing with a catchy tune playing in the background.

It started out as an average day, but then, the good times went away. They got replaced by a negative notion. One with calamity and great commotion! Oh, why must it cause so much destruction?!

I'm stuck! I'm stuck! I'm stuck with bad luck! I feel like a stick in the deep, deep muck! I feel like getting hit by a big, red truck! 'Cause I'm stuck, I'm stuck with bad luck!

I got caught up in my curiosity! And messed with the gadgets! Woe is me! Got launched in the air like a shooting star. And collided into Poppy like a racing car! I'd rather be the one getting hit by the car than Poppy!

I'm stuck! I'm stuck! I'm stuck with bad luck! I feel like a stick in the deep, deep muck! Deep in my heart and soul, I've been struck! With the worst kind of bad luck!

Now, we're both caught in a sticky mess, and it's making me feel really depressed. But when I thought the worst wasn't happening, we found out...Poppy can't remember a thing! (Poppy: Uh, what's going on?)

I'm stuck! I'm stuck! I'm stuck with bad luck! I feel like a stick in the deep, deep muck! It feels like a bad game of fox and duck! 'Cause I'm stuck, I'm stuck with bad luck! It's like my good fortunes ran amuck. And now, I'm stuck! I'm stuck with bad luck! Officially, this day really sucks! 'Cause I'm stuck with the worst bad luck!

Melody hopped down as she asked while placing a hand on her forehead, "What am I going to do? How are we going to help Poppy remember and get ourselves free from this sticky gum taffy"? Biggie placed a comforting hand on her shoulder before recoiling it back due to the taffy stains, saying, "No worries, Melody. We will figure something out." Smidge added, "Yeah! One way or another, you both will be unstuck, and Poppy will be back to her old self again." Melody smiled in content as the group left Dr. Moonbloom's office and headed straight to Poppy's pod, gathering a couple of friends along the way. Once inside, Biggie spoke up, saying, "Now, Poppy, is there anything that you can remember"? Poppy shook her head, saying, "I don't remember anything, and who's Poppy? Who are all of you"? Smidge then spoke up, stating, "You. Your name is Poppy. We are all of your friends." Poppy blinked before saying, "Oh, so I am Poppy? Sweet! But what are all of your names"? Biggie then commented, "Well, for starters, the troll you are stuck to is Melody." Melody turned her head the best she could to smile and say, "Hello, Poppy." Poppy smiled and said, "Ooh! We look almost the same! Are we sisters"? Melody rolled her eyes before saying, "No, we are not sisters. We are two separate who just so happen to have similar features." Poppy frowned as she said, "Aw, I wish I had a sister."

Smidge then said, 'Okay, moving on. Poppy, you're job is that you are Queen of the Pop Trolls. You rule over the tribe with a fun/happy/go-lucky/optimistic attitude." Poppy gasped as she replied, "Wait, I'm Queen!? But I don't want to be queen! I want to play and have fun! Wait...what did I just say now"? Everyone groaned in frustration as Melody commented, "I don't think this is working. She isn't getting any of this." Biggie commented, "We can't give up now. We just have to keep trying. Poppy, these trolls here with us are your friends. Next to me is DJ Suki. She's a DJ who plays music for huge parties that you like to host. Next to her is Satin and Chenille, who are fashion designers. Next to them is Branch, your best friend, and your fiancee." Poppy's jaw dropped as she shouted, "what?! I'm getting married to someone I don't even know yet"?! Melody and Smidge facepalmed while Branch came up to her, saying, "You do know me. You may not remember, Poppy, but yes, we are engaged." Poppy raised an eyebrow, saying, "But...I don't know you. At least, I think I don't. Who are you again"? Branch replied with a caring smile, "I'm Branch, Poppy, and I do hope you gain your memories back." Branch then kissed Poppy on the lips as the pop queen stood in awe and didn't try to fight it. Then, she gasped before saying, "I...remember." Everyone became happily shocked as Smidge asked, "What do you remember"? Poppy thought hard before saying, "I remember...Trollstopia. It was my idea to bring all the tribes of musical trolls together to live here happily. I remember...my name is Poppy, my dad's name is Peppy, the former king. I remember...the other tribes' leaders: Barb of the Hard Rock, Quincy, and Essence of Funk, Trollzart of the Classical, Trollex for Techno, and Delta Dawn for Country. Their ambassadors are Val Thundershock, who has a little cousin by 2 years, Holly Darlin', who came with former sheriff Gust Tumbleweed and detective Buckaroo Ringer, Dante Crescendo with his clan, including top student Minuet Sonata, Synth, who came with an antrollpologist named Laguna Tidepool, and Low-Note Jones, with fellow researchers Rhythm and Blues."

Everyone was starting to become relieved as DJ Suki commented, "It's working! She's starting to remember"! Melody asked, "What else, Poppy? What else"? Poppy thought before saying, "I remember...You! Biggie, Satin, Chenille, Cooper, Smidge, Legsly, Maddy, ha! I remember everyone! I also remember...hm...I don't remember anything else." Everyone became a little disappointed as Melody commented, "Hey, we're at a formidable starting point. Can you remember anything about Branch or me? Anything else in particular"? Poppy placed her hands on her head and tried to think, saying, "I remember...something about a troll...but it's different from us. Sugar, I can't remember"! Branch came up to her and placed a caring hand on her shoulder, saying, "It'll be ok, Poppy. You'll gain your memories back in no time. You just need to take it easy and let them come naturally." Melody then commented while trying t pry herself from Poppy's back, "In the meantime, you think we can focus our attention on getting us free? This gum taffy is so sticky, and I'm beginning to feel sticky from these taffy stains. Why must such a sweet and chewy treat be so sticky"? Looking at the situation, DJ Suki snapped her fingers, saying, "Ha! I got a great idea,"! Before long, the stuck troll pair was sitting on what looked like a large version of her turntables as Melody asked, "So, what's the plan, exactly? And how is this supposed to work"?

DJ Suki explained, "Well, on my turntables, the records spin to play music. So, maybe if you guys were spinning on top of a giant record, hence this merry-go-round version, then you can stretch out the taffy and get it to snap, freeing you. Though it would have to be moving very fast to work." Poppy then looked at Melody, asking, "Uh, possible friend. How did we end up getting stuck and covered with taffy anyways"? Melody sighed and replied, "I'll tell you later. For now, let's just get unstuck and get this taffy off our backs. Literally." With Smidge and Biggie's help, they started to spin the merry-go-round before using their hair to make it move faster. As the speed increased, Poppy screamed in fright while Melody held her stomach, her face growing a little green, while saying, "I think I'm going to be sick." DJ Suki shouted, "Faster! It needs to move extremely fast so the taffy can stretch out, hopefully"! As it got even faster, all of a sudden, Poppy and Melody were sent flying off, colliding into a tree still attached back to back. As they soon fell and landed on the ground, Melody being face-first, Branch sighed and mentioned, "Ok. Does anyone else have any other ideas"? Biggie then spoke up, saying, "Maybe we can try to cut the taffy off." Branch then rushed to his bunker and grabbed many different utensils that could be used to cut the taffy off, including scissors, a sharp kendo stick, and even a cake serving knife.

However, nothing seemed to be sharp enough to cut through the sticky gum taffy, and most of the utensils ended up getting covered in the sticky substance. Melody was growing very frustrated as Poppy commented, "Guess we might end up stuck together forever. It's ok because we can use this time to get to know one another." Melody facepalmed before saying, "Ok, does anyone have any other ways to help Poppy gain her memories back or get us unstuck or both"?! Peppy then got a great idea as he stated, "Why don't we have you hanging on a tree branch by the taffy so it can bend and break due to the pressure"? Melody shuddered as she commented, "No way! I've already been in the air twice today! I do not need to be up there for the third time! No offense, but I have no intentions of being airsick"! Branch then seemed to notice something as he asked, "Say, Melody. Isn't the taffy stuck to the back of your jacket"? Melody then turned her head to look before she gasped in shock and hissed while pinching her eyes, commenting, "My dumb brain! I completely failed to remember that part! This all could've been avoided if I just did this," as she slipped off her jacket, her long sleeve red shirt being revealed. The jacket now stuck to Poppy's back as Melody stretched her arms and said while smiling, 'Finally! I still can't believe I forgot about my jacket." Poppy then looked at Melody dumbfoundedly before saying, "Wait a minute...Melody...as in...Melody Song,"? Everyone gasped as Melody's smile grew, saying while turning around to face Poppy, "Wait...you remember me"?

Poppy started to smile and giggled, shouting, "I do! You're Val's cousin"! Smidge shouted, "Oh my guh! More memories," as Biggie added, "Poppy remembers more of what she knew before"! Poppy then looked at Branch, saying, "And you're Branch...my best friend...and my soon-to-be husband"! Everyone smiled and watched Poppy run to Branch and tackle him to the ground in a huge hug before kissing him on the lips. After a while, Melody commented, "Ok, you two. If you want to continue "THAT" later, get a room. I do not need to start barfing glitter again seeing this." Both Pop trolls chuckled and got up as Poppy saw that Branch's vest was now covered in taffy as. She apologized, shuffling her feet in embarrassment. Branch did not seem to mind as he replied, "It's ok. I can just clean it up once I get back." Melody then pulled her jacket off of Poppy's back while saying, "At least for you; it will be easy. Meanwhile *grunts* it's going to take me hours to get this off my jacket," as she referred to the giant pink, sticky glob that now was visible on the back of her leather jacket. Poppy added as she pointed her thumb to her back, "It's the same for me. I might need to get a new dress after a nice warm bubble bath, of course."

Suddenly, Aggie came towards the group, pulling her catapult behind and holding a huge spring under her red arm, saying, 'Hey, Melody. Did you see the troll who accidentally set off the cata-," before noticing that Poppy and Melody were covered in multi-colored taffy stains, and the back of their clothes had a huge glob of a pink, sticky, gum-like taffy. In confusion, she asked, "Uh, what's going on? And what happened to you both"? Melody scratched the back of her head, saying, "It's a bit of a long story," as Poppy asked in confusion, "Uh, Melody, who's that"? Everyone's jaws dropped in shock as Aggie asked, "Poppy, what's wrong? You don't remember me or something"? Melody sheepishly smiled as she stated, "Well, I should just tell you. While you were looking for a spring at Rhythm and Blues's spaceship, I may or may not have climbed into the bucket. And I may or may not have fiddled with one of the levers, which may or may not have sent me flying through the air, colliding into Poppy, making us crash into the candy bar, and covered us in taffy, including a new gum taffy that attached Poppy and me back to back. And the collision may or may not have given Poppy a slight case of...amnesia." Aggie gasped as she said, "Oh no! Are you and Poppy ok? Will she gain her memories back"? BRanch then came forward, saying, "Well, throughout the day, Poppy's been gaining some memories back, but so far, she still doesn't remember what happened earlier and, as much as it pains me to say, she doesn't remember...you."

Melody shuffled her feet and looked down in shame, saying, "I'm so sorry, Aggie. If I haven't messed with your catapult, this never would have happened. It's all my fault." Aggie came up to her and said with a small smile, "It's ok, Melody. We all make mistakes, and sometimes, our curiosity just gets the better of us. I would've done the same thing if I was in your place. But now, we have a problem. We have to help Poppy regain the memories that are still vague or hard to remember. The only question is how"? Biggie then noticed something and became nervous, shouting, "I think we have a bigger problem on our hands, guys"! Everyone turned and saw Poppy climbing into the bucket of the catapult, asking, "Ooh! What's this thing? What does it do"? Aggie became horrified as she shouted, "Poppy, don't touch anything"! Seeing Poppy about to pull back the red lever, Melody placed her hands up, shouting, "Wait, Poppy! Not the red-." However, Poppy pulled it back and was sent flying into the air, screaming in fear, as Melody said while watching Poppy soar, "lever." Everyone ran as fast as they could to follow Poppy as the pop queen ended up landing back-first onto a tree while hitting the back of her head pretty hard. Poppy groaned in pain as everyone soon made it to the tree Poppy was stuck to, with Branch shouting, "Poppy! Are you ok"?

Poppy placed a hand on her forehead, saying, "My head is throbbing in pain, but I will be fine Branch." Then, Poppy's eyes widened as she gasped before saying, "Wait, Aggie, did you build that weird device"? Almost everyone became stunned and smiled in happiness as Aggie first commented, "Well, yes I did, and it's called a cata- hey! Wait a minute! You remember my name"! Poppy realized what Aggie meant as she said, "Hey, yeah! I remember...everything! All our friends! My boyfriend! What happened earlier that gave me amnesia! Everything! I'm back to normal"! Her friends cheered in excitement as Poppy then tried to wiggle herself free but found herself stuck...again. She blushed and commented, "Uh...guys. A little help here"? Aggie flew up, saying, "I got you, Queen Poppy," as she grabbed Poppy's hands and began to pull her off the tree. While her super-strength did help get Poppy off the tree easily, it also pulled off the gum and almost the whole back of the dress, the skirt remaining intact. Poppy shouted and winced in slight pain as Aggie said while bringing her down, "Sorry. sometimes, I don't know my own strength." Once back on the ground, everyone crowded around her and gave positive cheers, grateful that Poppy was alright.

Aggie then noticed Popp's now bare back as she stifled her increasing laughter, saying, "Oops. Guess you're going to have to have Satin and Chenille fix that or make you a new dress." Poppy blushed and said, "I guess so, but at least that gum taffy is now off. Though now, I definitely need a bath to clean the rest of this taffy off me." Melody chuckled and added, "Yep, and I'm going to need to borrow a cement slabber to spend three hours getting the remaining wad off of my jacket. Then, a shower just to get these sticky stains off." Branch then commented, "Well, what matters most right now is that Poppy has officially recovered from her amnesia and remembers again." Smidge added, "Yeah, and now, everyone's safe and happy once again." DJ Suki even mentioned, "And I think we all learned a valuable lesson from this experience: never go on a catapult unless you know exactly what you're doing." Everyone looked at DJ confusingly, as Biggie stated, "I was going to say be cautious and try not to let your curiosity cloud your judgment, but that works well too." Aggie smiled before saying, "Well, everything's back to normal at least, well...almost. Luckily, I have just the thing to fix that." Aggie then snapped her fingers as suddenly, a gush of water came pouring on the group from above, soaking everyone to the skin. The positive side was that the sudden splash also helped clean up Poppy and Melody, and they were now taffy-free. The group looked up and saw Holly and Buckaroo sitting on a low tree branch, holding empty pails, displaying huge grins. Aggie then smirked at Poppy and Melody, saying, "Consider this a learning experience for the next time anyone decides to mess with the catapult without my supervision." Everyone broke into laughter as Poppy and Melody swung their arms around one another and looked up at the sky, where the sun shined brightly over them as a colorful rainbow overtook the sky, adding bright colors to an unexpected but fun-filled day.
