Freeing the Forest
DISCLAIMER: Because this is just a fanfiction, Poppy's pregnancy with the twins is in no way meant to be medically accurate.
As they followed Flower and Cooper to the cave, the group of diverse Trolls was still grieving over the loss of Willow.
“I can't believe she's gone," Biggie said sadly.
Everyone else shared a look with one another and lowered their heads. “The music in me has faded..."
“For my friend stopped singing today," Ash finished tearfully. Barb briefly glanced at her and felt terrible about holding her back in the first place.
Soon enough, they made it. Prince D stepped in and took a look around.
“Guys... she's not in here," he informed them.
“That's impossible," Flower said in confusion. “She has to be in here!"
Prince D was right. In fact, Poppy wasn't anywhere near the cave. She ran as fast as her swollen feet would let her all the way back to the river where the Earth Giants slept. The only problem was they roamed at night, and Poppy didn't have that kind of patience.
“Wake up!" she yelled. When that didn't work, Poppy tried again, this time at the top of her lungs. “WAKE UP!"
This caused one of them to stir, the ground shook beneath Poppy's feet as the Earth Giant got up and fell on another, waking him. A third got up and all stared at the Queen of Pop.
“That's it. Come and get me!" Poppy shouted, running away. “Over here!"
Angry at the Troll who woke him from his slumber, the first Earth Giant roared at her so loud, it knocked her down. Though she was a bit sore, Poppy got back up and kept running. One of the enraged Earth Giants threw a massive boulder at her, which barely missed her head. It was big enough to destroy the walls of Barb's Fortress.
“That'll work," Poppy said to herself and continued leading them to the dam. “This way, guys!"
“Mommy!" Flower shouted. “Where's my mommy?!"
“It's okay, hun," Ash tried to reassure her. “We'll find your mom."
“Uh, guys?" Tiny Diamond said, looking up. “We got bigger problems. I mean, way bigger!"
Unsure what he meant, the other Trolls looked up and noticed the three towering Earth Giants storming past them.
Elsewhere, Dandelion's group noticed them, too, along with Poppy leading the march. Curious as to where she was leading them, he turned his head to the direction she was running.
“No, no, no, no! She's leading them to the dam!" he warned his group, and they headed for the dam. Not understanding the situation, all they knew was that they had to stop her.
Unfortunately, the Earth Giants were too big and too fast for Poppy. She tripped, fell down, and one of them was about to crush her with his foot. Poppy closed her eyes and braced for impact. When she opened them, however, she was high up in the air! The friendly face of a dragonfly smiled at her as it held her with its clawed feet.
“Grab on!" said a familiar voice as Poppy noticed a hand reach down to her.
“Branch!" Poppy exclaimed with glee as he pulled her up. “Are you mad?"
“Furious," he replied. “Where's Flower?"
“I sent her away with Cooper," Poppy answered. “We'll find her later. Right now, I need to get to the dam!"
Without question, Branch's dragonfly flew him and the queen to the dam. Despite the Earth Giants throwing boulders and trees at them, they managed to make it there safely.
“Mommy! Daddy!" Flower shouted.
“Popsqueak, down here!" yelled Barb. The entire group was already at the dam waiting for her. Once Branch's dragonfly landed they all embraced each other.
“Flower, are you hurt?" Branch asked his daughter, planting kisses all over her face.
“Daddy, I'm fine!" Flower giggled. They all, then, noticed the old Trolls standing in a defensive position.
“Queen Poppy... what are you doing?" Dandelion asked.
“The dam must fall," Poppy replied. “It's the only way to break the mist and free Northros."
“No! I won't allow it!" Fuchsia protested. “My husband died building this dam. If it falls, his death will be in vain!"
“Poppy, we promised to help the Country and Classical Trolls, not flood their homes," Biggie pointed out.
“None of the Trolls have a future until we make things right!" Poppy explained. “The Northrens weren't threatening the Pop Trolls at Camp Sunshine, they were trying to protect them from an evil Rattlecobra who wanted to destroy us to make himself powerful! All this fighting was based on a misunderstanding!"
“How do you know that?" Dandelion asked.
Poppy sighed. “His daughter gave her life for the truth," she revealed. Branch's eyes widened, he couldn't believe Willow was gone. “Please. Before we lose anyone else."
All of the Trolls looked at each other nervously. Not one of them knew what to do.
Except for Ash. There was only one thing she could do.
The age of man is over
A darkness comes at dawn
Everyone noticed Ash holding a microphone as she sang with her eyes closed. Inspired by her sister, Barb pulled out her guitar and began playing a loud chord.
These lessons that we've learned here
Have only just begun
Everyone else felt moved enough to pull out their own instruments and played as loud as they could for the Earth Giants to hear, grabbing their attention.
We were the kings and queens of promise
We were the victims of ourselves
Maybe the children of a lesser God
Between heaven and hell!
As the Earth Giants began to throw their boulders at them, the Trolls ran for cover. Except for Poppy, who just ran across the dam.
“Destroy the dam!" she shouted. “Throw your boulders!"
We are the kings!
We are the queens!
As the Giants threw their boulders at the dam, Poppy tried to run across, but one of the rocks destroyed her path, forcing her to run back the other way, the dam crumbling behind her. As the path in front of her fell, she jumped across as far as she could. It wasn't enough, but just before she could fall to her death...
We are the kings!
We are the queens!
“I got her!" Prince D shouted, holding Poppy's hand. Branch and Biggie helped pull her up.
“Are you okay?" Branch asked. “Are the babies okay?"
“Yeah... we're fine," Poppy panted.
While the Trolls watched the dam fall, causing the water to burst out and form a massive tidal wave, the rest of the spirits noticed a bright light in the North. It was in shapes and colors of the symbols of the four elements with a white clover-shaped symbol of the fifth spirit in the middle.
In Nefilheim, dozens of ice sculptures hid in the depths of the glacier. Suddenly, one of them came to life and the floor beneath her cracked and she fell through the ice and into the water, where the Water Spirit found and swam up to the young Troll.

Elsewhere, the refugees in the mountains were still waiting. They were still waiting for when it would be safe to return to their homes.
“Uh, guys?" King Trollex said in alarm. Everyone noticed a giant wave headed for the borders of Symphonyville and Lonesome Flats, flooding everything in it's path!
Suddenly, they noticed a stag made of water being ridden by a rainbow-haired Troll leaping across the water. It was Willow! Once they made it past the wave, they turned around to face it and Willow created a giant force field, shielding Symphonyville and Lonesome Flats from the water. In a powerful blast, the water evaporated as if it never came. Willow looked back to noticed the wind blowing normal, the cracks in the earth seal shut, the fires reignite and the water flowing again. As the rest of the Trolls cheered, King Quincy and Queen Essence smiled at Willow as she and the Water Spirit headed north.

Back in Northros, the Trolls, Northrens and magical spirits looked around and noticed the mist surrounding the enchanted forest beginning to lift. The Fire Spirit stood on a rock and Zephyr lifted the tiny gecko into the air with a breeze. With Branch's arm around her, Poppy looked up as the mist vanished completely, revealing a clear blue sky.
“I'm sorry I left you behind," she said sadly. “I was just so desperate to protect Willow."
“It's okay, I get it," Branch tried to reassure her. “Just... next time you run off somewhere, let me know."
Poppy giggled and leaned her head into Branch's shoulder.
“Look at the sky!" Errick said to Rhegan, who playfully bumped his arm. “I just never realized there was so much of it."
“52 years..." Dandelion said softly.
“Three months..." Sapphira added.
“... and seventeen days," Dandelion finished. The two of them linked arms and smiled at one another. After years of fighting, this was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Fuchsia looked over at Ash and approached her calmly. “Are you okay?"
“How am I supposed to live without Willow?" Ash asked. “She meant everything to me."
“I felt the same way when I lost your father," Fuchsia admitted. “I felt lonely for a long time. But you know what? As long as you remember the ones you love, they're never truly gone."
Ash smiled. “Thanks... Mom."
Overjoyed by the clear sky, the dragonflies flew high in the air in a circle. The Trolls and Northrens watched in amazement.
“It's so beautiful!" Flower said in awe as Branch picked her up and had her sit on his shoulder.
“It sure is, sprout," he said. “It sure is."
Poppy smiled at her boyfriend and daughter before noticing Zephyr blowing ice crystals shaped like the spirits' symbols around her head. The Wind Spirit then blew them over a hilltop and Poppy followed them. She noticed something colorful shimmer over the sea. Once it got close enough, she couldn't believe her eyes. She ran down the hill as Willow rode the Water Spirit to the shore, where she got off the stag, who retreated into the sea.
“Is it really you?" Poppy asked with tears in her eyes. Willow nodded as the Pop queen ran into her arms, sobbing. “I thought I'd lost you!"
“Lost me? You saved me!" Willow said. “You saved all of us. Again!"
“I did?"
“And, Poppy, Lonesome Flats and Symphonyville... they didn't fall," Willow informed her.
“They didn't?"
“The spirits all agreed. All of the Trolls deserve to stand... with you."
Poppy stared at Willow in disbelief. “Me?"
“You did what was right," Willow said. “For everyone."
“Did you find the fifth spirit?" Poppy asked. She gasped as Willow's bright smile answered for her. “You are the fifth spirit! You're the bridge."
“Well, actually, a bridge has two sides," Willow pointed out. “Elora saved your dad, and my birth was what resurrected her. We did this together, Pops, and we'll continue doing this together."
Poppy smiled and pressed her forehead against Willow's. “Together."
“Willow!" Branch exclaimed, running towards them. “You're okay!"
“Guys! It's Willow!" Biggie shouted to the others. They ran down the hill to hug their magical friend.
“You look different!" Cooper said. “Did you change your hair or something?"
“Or something," Willow laughed. She, then, noticed the Princess of Rock approaching her slowly. “Ash."
“Willow," she gasped.
“Ash."
“Willow."
“Willow?" Barb cut in with a scowl.
“Barb?" Willow said nervously.
“Tiny!" shouted Tiny Diamond. The other kids just smacked their own foreheads.
“Listen here, Snowcone," Barb said threateningly. “I can tolerate your music, your powers, and the fact that you're the biggest weirdo I've ever met... But don't ever scare us like that again!"
“Don't worry, Barb," Willow reassured her. “I won't."
“No more surprises?" Barb asked.
Willow nodded. “No more surprises."
“Actually, there is one more thing," Branch admitted, getting down on one knee in front of Poppy. He couldn't think of a better time than now. “Queen Poppy, you are the bravest, strongest, most amazing Troll I've ever known. I can't imagine a moment of my life without you in it. I love you to the moon and back. Will you marry me?"
Poppy gasped as he pulled the ring out of his vest pocket. “Yes!" she cried out, running into his arms.
“Go ahead, Mr. Dinkles. It's okay to cry," Biggie said to his worm as tears fell from his eyes. Mr. Dinkles just mewed as Branch slid the ring onto Poppy's finger. The two shared a passionate kiss.
Suddenly, the Earth Giants approached the Trolls and one of them leaned over. While the rest of them got nervous, Poppy and Willow gently pressed their hands on the Giant's face.
Later, the group approached the Northrens and the older Trolls.
“So, ready to go home?" Branch asked Dandelion, who nodded.
“I wish I still had a home," Dusty said sadly.
“Actually, Dusty, your home's okay," Poppy told the little Country Music Troll.
“Really?!" he asked. Flower nodded.
“Nefilheim is beautiful," Willow said to Sapphira and Rhegan. The Fire Spirit jumped into her hands and curled up into her palms. “Oh! Hello!"
Ash smiled at her girlfriend before letting her thoughts take over. Barb stood next to her.
“You know she belongs here, right?" Barb asked her sister, who nodded. “And, uh... you belong with her."
Ash's eyes widened. “You mean..."
“Ash, we're sisters," Barb pointed out. “We'll always be sisters. Nothing can change that. Just... promise you'll come visit."
Ash nodded again and hugged her adoptive sister. “I love you, Barb."
“I love you, too," Barb replied and let her go. Ash rushed to Willow to tell her the good news. Fuchsia approached the Queen of Rock with a smile.
“I never did thank you for taking care of my daughter," she admitted. “You've done good, Barbara."
“Hey, only my dad calls me Barbara," Barb said, glaring at her. “You call me Queen Barb."
While the other Trolls prepared to leave, Poppy and Willow shared one last hug goodbye.
Well, next chapter is the last chapter and that marks the end of the Willow Saga, not because some people are annoyed by the lack of Broppy, but because this is the best place I could think of for Willow's story to conclude.
This may also be my last fanfic. Unless I write a version of the new special, Holiday in Harmony, with my OCs in it, but I don't know how they'll fit into that. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look at this.
Next chapter, I'll reveal the winners of the Broppy twins contest. Until next time. 🌈
