Trishalini POV
"You said that you are not uncomfortable," he teased me and I rolled my eyes and tried to pull my hand back.
"I am uncomfortable in this," I stated and he just gave me a winning smile and nodded.
"Alright, you better take a rest today and take care of your headache as I leave for my chamber and greet the guests," he informed and I nodded, bending my head down.
"Ji, Yuvraj, as you wish," I mocked him for his long speech and he laughed a little before walking away.
Once, he left I finished my morning business and had breakfast.
I could not even sit idle for a while before a group of attendees walked into the chamber along with Daadisa.
And, to my surprise, they were here to groom me.
Speaking of grooming, the definition of it was only taking a long bath and washing my hair for me. But, today it was going to change.
And, it was way more embarrassing when all of it was happening before a dozen attendees, with Daadisa's instructions.
I inhaled a deep breath and swore to erase my timidness for a day.
Yes, for a whole day.
In short, the day was noted in history as I turned from a commoner to a Princess in terms of my physical appearance.
First of all, all of my body hairs were pulled out of my body with the help of Scrubs and sugary paste. If Yuvraj had seen the amount of hissing I had done during this deadly procedure, he would have never recovered from fainting.
But, after doing that I felt as if my skin had turned into the mattress' cotton. It was softer and glowed differently.
This was not it.
Once I was cleaned with the multi-cleaning process, a layer of red paint was applied to my fingertips and feet. Because the last one had slightly faded.
And, not just that, new Henna designs were made on my palms and feet, up to my calves.
And, I was asked to sit unmoved to let it dry.
My hair was left open after oiling a thousand mixed oils and then washed at least five times. One of them included the milk bath.
I felt really bad for those buffaloes who gave me that milk. I mean their babies could have drunk that.
Just in the morning, I thought that it would not be that difficult and here we were.
I was given a bath almost three times and by my grooming finished, leaving even the nail of my finger perfect, the day ended.
And, it left me ended too. I sneezed hard.
I was sent a soup to take care of myself. The history of my Queenly days in the Kingdom has been the tiring one till now.
And, I did not know that life had just begun.
I woke up the next morning in the same position I had slept and that too when the attendees came to wake me up.
I did not even know if he came last night or not.
Since it was Pooja day, I was asked to keep the fast until it was finished.
I yawned while changing, after taking the bath and getting ready to make my first public appearance.
There was no nervousness because I was tired. My eyes would not even open. I just wanted to sleep.
But, I was dolled in a bridal red attire with all my bridal jewellery and asked to step out when the priest called for me.
I still had not seen him. And, it was not too difficult to know that he would be extremely busy considering that he would be managing the whole celebration alone without anyone's help.
"Oh, I am sorry, I am late," Queen Nandani's sudden voice brought a smile to my face, and I immediately rose from my chair.
"Jiji," I squealed with happiness and almost ran towards her. She hurried her steps towards me and we both hugged each other tightly.
"I was tensed that I would miss the Pooja," she said, and I fisted my nervous fingers around her, and slowly pulled back.
"How do I look? Will people like it? Should I do or change anything?" I asked, and she inhaled trying to calm her racing heartbeats down, and shook her head.
"It's perfect," she muttered and said. "Let me help you with the remaining thing," she said, and I nodded.
The attendees moved aside from the mirror and I stood before it again. I watched her come closer and pull the dupatta off my shoulder. I glanced at my belly button, slightly hidden under a waist chain weighing almost a kilogram.
"Here," she said, placing one side of the dupatta on my shoulder and looking back at an attendee.
"Sew this here," she said, and I noticed the heavy, matching dupatta hanging down my arm. "And, Bhabhisa, tuck it in your waist," she said, pulling the one end and I silently tucked it on the other side of my waist. I noticed how the beautiful dupatta became visible and she added.
"Now, I will tuck this other end behind you,"
I nodded and asked.
"What about the head? I do not think I will be allowed to keep it bare," I said and smiled.
"There will be different dupatta for that," she said and turned back to look at an attendee.
"Maasa has not sent a family Chunri?" she asked, and the attendees looked at each other and then ran to the table and brought a plate. Jiji took the cover off it, and I noticed an old dupatta.
"Bhabhisa, this dupatta was worn by the six ancestors and now you are the seventh bride Mahabaleshgarh has welcomed," she said, placing it on my head, and I smiled weakly.
Till now everything was fun and welcoming but this would be burdening.
"It is heavy," I said and smiled and kissed the side of my head.
"You look beautiful," she said, and I turned to look at her.
"I do not know, how to thank you enough for understanding me. I mean, all of this is new. I mean... it is good with your brother, but staying in a chamber, laughing in it is easy but coming out, walking through the ways, looking people in the eyes is different, especially as a... Princess," I muttered, and she just smiled and held my hand.
"Just stand tall, and you would not even realise when the storm has passed," she said, and I chuckled.
"Trisha," suddenly, Yuvraj's voice caught my attention and we both walked out of the dressing room and found him standing in a beautiful white pair with a red shawl on his shoulder, a sword in his hand, and a turban on his head.
He looked manly.
I meant insanely beautiful.
"Nandani," he said, moving his stuck gaze to Jiji, and I noticed her stepping closer.
"Thank you for coming," he said and walked closer to her. And, when I least expected that he would hug her, he hugged her. She hugged him back.
"How are you? sister," he asked, kissing the side of her forehead and she chuckled.
"Now, perfect," she muttered, and I smiled looking at them.
I noticed Yuvraj looking at me with a weak smile and Jiji slowly pulled back.
"You are looking so handsome," she said, and he laughed.
"Where is Rudra?" he asked, and she smiled.
"He is with Baapusa," she said, and he nodded.
"Alright, Trisha, Pandit Ji is asking for us," he said, and I nodded, stepping closer to him.
"I shall also go," Jiji said, and looked back at me with a teasing smile, before walking out.
"You look... perfect," he said, stepping closer to me, once we were alone and I smiled weakly.
"I can hardly walk in all of this," I said and watched him stand tall before me and place his hand on my cheek.
"Where were you last night?" I asked, and he lowered his gaze for a moment.
"Ummm, had a lot of smoke, so did not think of disturbing you," he said, and I bit the inside of my lip.
"You better stop smoking after this royal affair ends," I said, and he nodded before leaning in and kissing my forehead.
"You look beautiful," he muttered, and my lashes closed for a moment. It sent a sense of calm amid the nervousness before he pulled back.
"Let's go, everyone is waiting," he said, and I nodded.
With the slow and difficult steps, I managed to walk out. With each further step, I could feel my skirt slipping down any moment, even when it was tied so very tight.
I felt a hundred gazes over me, as we both walked down the galleries, reaching to a huge compound, heavenly decorated, populated and noisy.
As soon as I noticed almost five hundred people sitting around, watching us, I felt my fingers shaking. They all were looking at me, and I did not know them.
But, with their clothes and faces, I could sense that they were Royals and their families along with the important people.
And, suddenly I felt left out.
Because, no matter which family I married into, I could not forget my roots, and I could not find a single leaf of my root.
What the hell was happening?
"What happened?" he asked, noticing me standing frozen and I lowered my gaze.
"I do not even know them," I managed to say, and he held my hand firmly and brushed his thumb on the back of my hand.
"My dear, you know me," he said, and I could not help but close my eyes.
It was not as I thought. What if I would fall? What if they would not like my face? What if someone asks me anything and I would stand silent?
"Trisha, trust me," he said, and I opened my eyes. I looked up at them again. They all were looking at me.
I could feel my palms sweating and suddenly I wanted to run away.
"Trisha, come on," he said, and I shook my head.
Staying with him in the chamber, teasing him, taunting him, and having him do lovely things for me was nothing in front of it. For a moment, I thought that if that chamber and he and I would be the life I had ahead, then it would be best and comforting.
I mean, for three days, I thought all of that could be all of it.
But, I was wrong. All of that would be only a portion of life we would have. This would be reality.
I lifted my gaze and looked at Maasa and Daadisa sitting near the Pandit ji and watching us.
This time I was the one for whom this heavy affair was happening, but in the future, I would be the one conducting this feast, celebration, attending guests, meetings and handling this Kingdom.
This Kingdom!
I never felt this Kingdom this big before.
"Trisha," suddenly, he called and I looked up at him.
"My dear wife, sweetheart... love, come on," he said, and I gulped with fear. "No one would even look you in the eye, I promise," he said, and I lowered my gaze down.
Or I would not look anyone in the eye.
Closing my eyes for a moment, I inhaled a deep breath and tried to just look at the mush, thick carpets laid before us on the compound before stepping ahead slowly.
There was extreme silence now. And, with each step, I could hear the tickle of my jewellery so strong that it was sending shivers down my spine.
When I wanted to attract the least attention, I was dressed up to the centre of the eyes.
I could not think what was wrong with me. Nothing was making sense.
What the hell was I even doing here?
I was just asked to have a baby for his family, and now, here I was becoming a Queen. I was getting introduced to the people. And, all of it did not feel good.
Still, I held my breath and walked to the middle of the crowd where the Pooja was happening. I noticed the lighting of Hawan Kund, and the smell of Ghee, and incense in the air.
"Come," I heard him say, helping me climb the seven stairs. Now, I could feel as if I was clearer for them to see.
I lifted my gaze and noticed a hundred people, looking at me silently, and with one glance I noticed a last few rows gossiping.
I would faint any moment.
It was not that hot today, but I felt a bead of sweat trail down my spine and disappear in the band of my skirt.
"Sit," the priest said. There were five in total, one of them was sitting ahead, while four were sitting beside him, two on either side.
I held his hand tightly before taking the place and he also sat beside me.
I tried to pull my hand back from his, but he held it firmer and I noticed Daadisa smiling at us.
Nobody dared to talk as the priest began the chanting of eternal Mantras and began the Pooja. We were told many stories based on our deities and asked to do the Aahutis. For many reasons, it calmed me down.
But, I did not know that it was the calm before the storm.
My heart beats calmed down staying in the Pooja with my eyes closed half of the time.
But, when it came to an end, I was asked.
"Now, you two can take the blessings of your elders,"
I could feel my nervousness striking me back, but with a third time of intensity now. I did not know who was in the category of elders.
I noticed him standing up, and I tried to stand up too. But, it was nearly impossible in such a heavyweight.
I closed my eyes with embarrassment.
I was good for nothing.
I was a terrible failure.
I felt him holding my hand, and helping me stand up. I could not even look into his eyes.
I asked him to full water for me, and just now I realised that there was nothing in front of me. He was the Prince, he was the power, he was the future, and yet not even for once, he made me feel odd one out.
And, these people without even trying to declare me a failure were doing it only with their unpleasant, and intense gazes.
I tried not to notice that and walked along with him towards our Daadisa. Coming closer to her, I felt safer for a moment, while touching her feet.
"God Bless you both. Hope you have the best life ahead together and move past every obstacle in your life," she blessed me and pulled me closer in a loose hug.
I smiled, and we walked passed her to Maasa to seek her blessings. Baapusa were not here. "God Bless you. Just be happy and life will be easy," she said, I smiled weakly and noticed Maasa taking me to some people.
"Trisha, meet them, they are our long-time friends," she said, and I noticed an old couple. Three young Princess standing behind them.
I lowered down to touch their feet and the old lady placed her hand on my head.
"God Bless you, Trisha, you have such a beautiful name," she said, as I stood up and knit her brows. "But, I have never heard it before. I mean, from which Kingdom do you belong?" she asked with a soft smile, and I could not help but feel the warmness on my cheek.
I did not know if this was an embarrassment or an insult, but it was working on me.
"Maharani," I heard him address her. "Trishalini belongs to Mahabaleshgarh," he said, lowering down to touch her feet and she chuckled.
"Oh, yes, I only meant to know about her parents," she said, and I kept my gaze low while Maasa spoke.
"She is the daughter of Yuvraj's Guruji. The children liked each other so much, that we could not say anything," she said, and I felt Massa caressing the back of my head.
"We are blessed to have her. I mean, we searched and looked for a hundred Princesses for our Abhinandan, but no one could meet what she has in her heart and soul," she said, and I smiled weakly.
No matter how hard she was trying to make it feel right, it was not feeling right, especially when all her three daughters were staring at him.
"It's good," the man beside her finally said. "I mean, Yuvraj Abhinandan is still very young and can marry a Princess for the throne," he added, and I felt a burn on my chest.
To be honest, I did not feel bad or odd about having this thought before, but after spending a week with him, knowing how much he cared for me, how he liked me, and the things he could do for me, I did not want any more girl in his life.
I could not bear him oiling someone else's hair. I could not even imagine him sleeping in someone else's chamber.
It was ridiculous.
"haha," Maasa laughed and I noticed Yuvraj clenching his jaw on his words. "Well, our Trisha is no less than a Princess to take the throne beside him," she added and I blinked silently.
"Oh," the women said, and I noticed a few more women collecting around.
"So, she is the newlywed Bride of Mahabaleshgarh of whom no one has heard," another lady said, and stepped ahead to touch their feet too, but I felt Yuvraj's hand hold my wrist silently to stop me.
"Well, the feast is to make a bold announcement, Maharani," Yuvraj spoke, and she laughed.
"Haha, indeed, it's pretty bold," she muttered, lowering her gaze down to our hands and said.
"Well, Yuvraj Abhinandan, leave your wife to talk with us for a while too," one of them said, and I inhaled deeply.
I would die if he would leave me alone. I did not even know what would come out of my mouth if I dared to speak.
"Very well, I should leave," he said in a low voice and I closed my eyes for a moment when he walked away.
"Trishalini, such a beautiful you have," another old woman said, and stepped closer. "I am the Queen of Rajgarh, a Princely state under the law of Mahabaleshgarh," she said, and I nodded.
"Pranam, Maharani," I adjoined my hands and she smiled.
