Trisha POV
I was terribly late. Picking up the bucket, I threw the dirty water outside.
Splash.
And I immediately regretted it.
"What is this?" A young boy yelled, and my eyes widened with shock.
Oh My God. "I am so sorry. I did not see you coming," I quickly went inside and brought the dry cotton cloth to hand him over.
He was drenched in the muddy water. I had just finished plastering a layer of dung, chaff and red clay mix on the floor. My father and I lived in this Kutcha house.
"Are you blind?" he gritted his teeth and I frighteningly looked at him drying himself. I should have been careful.
"I am so sorry," I could not say anything else.
"Trisha," Suddenly, Rudra Bhaisa called me and I looked around.
"Ji, Bhaisa,"
He walked closer to me and handed me my father's lunch.
"Who is this?" he asked and the man lifted his gaze.
"Abhinandan,"
"Aapka bhi Abhinandan," Bhaisa replied.
"You are welcome too,"
He clenched his jaw. "Yuvraj Abhinandan Mahabalesh," he clarified and the floor swept through my feet. What the hell just I did? I threw the muddy, dung mix water on the Kings' son. I did not have many days to live now.
An order of my death would be coming soon any moment.
"This stinks," he complaint and Bhaisa stepped closer to him.
"Welcome, Yuvraj Abhinandan, forgive Trisha. She must be in some hurry. She is the Guruji's daughter and I think you are here to meet him too," he said and Yuvraj Abhinandan lifted his gaze and nodded.
"Ji, my father sent him the letter about my arrival few days ago," he said and Bhaisa smiled.
"I am Rudra. Prince of Suryagarh,"
"Bhaisaaaaaaaaa!!!," Suddenly, Prince Agastya's voice caught my attention and I saw him running towards us.
"Bhaisaaaaaaaa, he took my notes," Prince Ranvijay yelled at him from behind, running too and I could not help but laugh.
This was the daily drama.
"Bhaisaaaa, save me, Guruji is going to ask me questions today and if I fail, he would throw me to work with Trisha in the farm and I cannot sow seeds in this burning summer," Prince Agastya said and Rudra Bhaisa immediately took notes from him and handed them over to Prince Ranvijay.
"These belongs to Ranvijay and if you are willing to pass the test, then must study on your own," He said and they all looked at Yuvraj Abhinandan.
A formal introduction ran among them while I walked inside and brought a glass of water to them. They all sat on the Charpayi.
"Where is Guruji? Trisha," Rudra Bhaisa asked and I replied. "He said, he would return by the end of the day,"
He nodded and Yuvraj Abhinandan exclaimed. "I shall wait, then,"
"Shall I make something to eat for everyone?" I asked and Prince Agastya stood up.
"I will help you, sister,"
I smiled.
"Come," I said and brought him inside to take help of his fine chopping skills. He could chop vegetables but only through his own knife.
Everything was happy and beautiful here. My father, Guruji had adopted me. I was found under the mud, in a pot, crying aloud. Since, that day he took care of me and brought me up singlehandedly.
And, in return I used to take care of him and his students who used to visit here. With Prince Rudra, Ranvijay and Agastya, I had found my family too. They were the children of Royalty but not given the enough privileges. That's why we shared a sweet bond.
With the help of Agastya, I finished cooking and served the meal in the evening. And, by the time they all finished eating Pitaji also arrived.
While I washed the utensils, he talked with Prince Abhinandan. I hoped, he had not complaint about me, if he would my father would scold me bad.
Tomorrow, I would have to sow the seeds. The summer was at its finest and it was the best time. I woke up early in the morning, milked the cows, made the lunch and was about to leave for the farm when my father called.
"Trisha,"
I immediately went running.
"Ji, pitaji," I said, and noticed Prince Abhinandan standing beside him.
"Take Yuvraj Abhinandan with you," he said and I stood shocked.
"But, Pitaji, how can he?" I tried to ask and he stood up from his meditating posture.
"A rock must press itself beneath the weight of earth, so transform into the diamond," he said in his regularly non-understandable tone and I looked at Yuvraj Abhinandan, who was standing equally shocked too.
"But, Guruji, I am to become a King, not a farmer," he argued and my father lifted his gaze to him.
"And, I am to make you a good King not a regular one," he exclaimed and Yuvraj Abhinandan looked at me.
Silently, he took a few steps closer to me and suddenly Pitaji called.
"Agastya Dev Singh,"
I closed my eyes. He would dead today. Instead of learning his lessons, he was busy chopping the vegetables. I did not know what kind of future this boy would have.
I saw him, came running towards him in his half sleep and my father looked at him.
"What is it that makes a boy a man?" my father asked and he rubbed his eyes and yawned.
"Maybe, a wife, Guruji?" he asked and my father gritted his teeth.
"It is responsibilities," My father said with frustartions and he nodded.
"Yes, I knew it was something with the R, resembling Rudra Bhaisa, but it did not come on my tongue," he said and my father lifted a red Potli bag and said.
"Now, go and help Trisha,"
He clicked his tongue in frustration and looked at him.
"I think you must be looking for a hand, here I am," he said, walking closer to me and I tried to control my laughter.
We all walked out of the village, towards the farm in the silence. While Yuvraj Abhinandan was seeming to be a innocent, less talkative type, walking silently and calmly. Agastya was running ahead finding a Neem tree to brush his teeth.
Finally, he found one and gave one stick to Yuvraj Abhinandan too. He was too hesitant to take it.
"You have already brushed your teeth?" he asked and he nodded, slowly.
"Yes,"
I could understand his embarrassment.
Finally, we all reached the farm and begin the assignment for the day. I took the Dupatta over my head to prevent myself from tanning.
"How to do it?" Yuvraj Abhinandan's voice caught my attention and I looked at him, kneeling down before me.
I lowered my gaze to the seeds in my hands and I showed him digging the hole in the line and placing the seeds inside and then covering it up. Agastya was around sprinkling the water.
"Thank you," he said, in a slow voice and I smiled.
"I am sorry for yesterday. I was not in my complete senses. I did not see you around," I said and he nodded.
"I figured it out," he said and looked around.
"So, friends?" he asked and I looked at him for a moment. He was the Prince, the King to be of Mahabaleshgarh and very unlike from Rudra Bhaisa, Ranvijay and Agastya.
We could not be friends.
But, I could not deny his proposal. So, I nodded.
"Yes, friends,"
But, I did not know that that one word 'Friends' were going to change my whole life.
Since, that day our friendship grew stronger. It was platonic. I would help him in his lessons and in return he would help me in my works.
He stayed in the Gurukul for a year and his friendship with Rudra Bhaisa grew stronger too. Agastya was mostly out of the Gurukul for some works and Ranvijay was helping my father in teaching new and young students.
My feelings unknowingly changed for him in that one year. And, I did not realise that until he left for his home.
I never told him or looked at him that way. Maybe, it was friendship only, just stronger. Also, I should not feel anything more than friendship for him as he was the next King in line and four years younger than me. It was not how things were meant to be.
I did not think I would meet him again and it was over for us already.
And, we did not meet for next five years too until everything changed in Suryagarh and Mahabaleshgarh.
Rudra Bhaisa married Princess Nandani, Yuvraj Abhinandan's sister and the way they married, made me hate Rudra Bhaisa. I never knew he was planning a betrayal against Mahabaleshgarh and Yuvraj Abhinandan.
Also, I get to know that Yuvraj Abhinandan left his home and went to Pratapgarh with the message that he would never return to his home. He was upset that instead of waging a war against Rudra Bhaisa, they accepted him.
I was somewhere with Yuvraj Abhinandan in this.
Everything was so messed up and it got even more messed up when the King called me to meet him.
Next morning, I got read in my normal attire and feeling scared about meeting him.
I did not know what he want from me.
"I am coming with you," my father said and I shook my head.
"You must stay here. I believe it would be unnecessary," I said and he asked, sitting down on the floor.
"Are you sure about this? Why would he need you?" he asked and I shook my head.
"I will not know until I meet him," I said and suddenly a Kingdom's soldier caught our attention.
"Baisa, the palanquin is ready," he informed and I gulped with hear and touched my father's feet before leaving.
The ride was silent for outside but there was a storm churning inside me. I did not what to expect. Maybe, the King would take my life for throwing dirty water on his son.
But, it was six years ago.
Finally, I reached the Kingdom and my throat dried up already. It was huge. Nobody had mentioned me that the King resided in such a huge Kingdom. It was tall, spread in acres and screams power and royalty.
But, no one knew that the curtains behind the strong walls were weaker. And, it destroys the meaning of a family.
"This way," The soldier guided me and I tried to smoothen my clothes, nodding to him. I was feeling nervous and suddenly I wanted to run away.
It was early in the morning and I did not think that anyone was awake in the Kingdom yet. It felt something secretive.
The soldier guided me to a discreet hall and the moment, I entered, I noticed the King sitting, groaning in the pain, holding his chest.
"Rajaji, she is here," the soldier said and he looked at me and stood up from the seat. It was small hall, maybe for some secretive meeting.
"Ji, pranam," I said, kneeling down to touch the floor from a distance in his respect and he nodded.
"You are Trishalini?" he asked and I nodded.
I had heard my full name after a long time.
"Come, sit here," he said, signalling towards a chair in front of me and I stood frozen.
"um, I am good here," I said. It was not a nice delicacy to sit before the King. He nodded and the soldier left from there leaving us alone.
"I have heard that you are befriends with Abhinandan," he said and I did not know what to say. My heart was telling me to deny and run away but my brain did not allow me to lie. I was the daughter of Guruji and could not do anything to lower his respect in all the Hind.
"Ji, though we have not talked in last five years," I said and he nodded.
"Well, my son is angry with us. And, he does not listen to anyone, especially me and Ranisa. We have tried our best and failed terribly to bring him back. I am certain that you can do this for me, for us, for the Kingdom," he said and I shook my head, unable to understand him.
"But, how can I? If he is not listening to you, why would he listen to me?" I tried to say, my voice coming out low.
"You are the only person he might listen to now. He is angry with everyone and thinks that we all are against him. You are the only girl he is befriends with. This would be your life time favour on us, my child," he said and I shook my head slowly.
"Your Grace, I understand you, but I am afraid that he would not listen to me. In this, we must understand him and you should talk to him,"
"I do not have much time for myself and my family does not know about it. I do not want to tell them that I will be leaving soon. They will be tormented. Thats why I am asking for your favour. You can do anything you want, you can ask anything in return for this. I would shower our wealth on you. Its my humble request. I need my son back," a tear rolled down his cheek and I did not know what to say.
How could I convince Yuvraj Abhinandan to come back to the home. We had not met each other in years. He would be of twenty two years in age now. And, would have grown into a man.
"Please, Trishalini. I beg of you," he said and seeing him lifting his Pagdi off his head, I immediately replied.
"What will I have to do?" I asked and he lowered his gaze.
"Do whatever it takes to convince him to come back to the Kingdom and fulfil his responsibilities," he said and I nodded, slowly.
And, that day I did not know that whatever was going to mean, more than everything.
