part of me wants to curb my enthusiasm and excitability so i can be treated less poorly because i frequently feel as if everyone around me sees me as a very young child with intelligence to match, but putting in that much effort to repress key parts of my personality (and not to mention my adhd) would distract from my work and make me less intelligent seeing as im spending extra energy on non-academic endeavors. plus, adults frequently state that im quick-witted, and that this is a positive and demonstrates intelligence- how do i differentiate between a witty comment and a childish impulse? its all very confusing
