"kasper rhodes,,,, he had a fuckin COOL aesthetic and he couldve had a cool plot? like- taking advantage of night vale's panic about time working normally by giving them "immortality" and then tricking them is a cool as shit idea!! the cape thing was pretty neat ngl!! the "believe in a smiling god, buddy" line made me fucking SCREAM!! but i feel like his potential reached its peak in the promise of time and fell apart in the battle for time. he was just,, kinda boring in practice? his writing was a little lackluster, he just felt like a diluted kevin- speaking of kevin, i ESPECIALLY think they could've done more with the strexcorp connection. they don't mention strex once, but the parallels are clear- they should've - excuse the pun - capitalized on that!! perhaps strexcorp comes back in the future? maybe he's a former member and tried to start it up again? the smiling god line was a VERY FUCKING INTERESTING concept but they didnt do much with it and honestly it wouldve been better if they had just left it out. basically his arc started out SUPER good but then kinda fell apart lol- OH and i think bringing up strexcorp specifically instead of just the smiling god would be more threatening? because a: kasper's beliefs fall more in the line of strexcorp's anyway and b: we've seen that perfectly fine non-evil people can believe in the smiling god. it devours has plenty of people who are members of the joyous congregation and aren't antagonistic at all, like darryl and stephanie! even if you didnt read that book, mudstone abyss puts it in somewhat more of a sympathetic light anyhow, and who's a good boy does so even more. the parallels to strexcorp, in my view anyway, were much scarier than the belief in the smiling god. they should've emphasized that more lol- in conclusion! kasper rhodes's antagonist arc wasnt bad. it was alright, and it was enjoyable enough. its certainly not the worst arc wtnv has ever had. however it has so much missed potential to have been REALLY REALLY GOOD which makes me,,,,, really sad ngl"
