i think the fact that kevin very clearly had low empathy before strexcorp did anything to him and very clearly has low empathy after hes redeemed is very lovely and nice

like you're clearly supposed to like pre-strex kevin and hes low empathy. these things dont contradict each other at all. you have bits like these

and ESPECIALLY this

and none of it is designed to make you hate kevin or think he was evil all along. pre-strex kevin and strex kevin are different in so many ways but empathy or lack thereof they have in common and he always does because his lack of empathy is not evil and i think thats something a lot of redemption arcs could leern from it makes me happy

im too tired to elaborate on how its continued in mudstone abyss but it is and its quite nice because kevin is no lonfer evil or anything but low empathy is still a thing he has and it negatively impacts his life which is realistic but its not some irredeemable deep inherent asshole thing in him its just a thing he is
