black lives matter!!

quick trigger warning: mentions of police brutality, violence

hey everyone, I know I am inactive, but I just wanted to say a few things on racism in America. i know I don't live in America, but does that really matter? racism is a worldwide thing, although it's very prominent in the US, and in the end, it's our future, our society.

some of what I'm going to say here might be controversial, and I have very strong opinions on racism. if you believe that white man privilege and racism against blacks is not a thing, then I suggest you READ THIS. open your fucking eyes man.

it's just gonna be a short message on what's happening and some of my thoughts. i couldn't say much as i'm running out of time but i think what i brought up is enough.

NOTE: if you are black, and anything i've said here is out of line, or i've accidentally used an aave word, call me out and i'll change it immediately as well as apologize.

so if you haven't heard yet, a man was killed by a cop in the US, Minnesota. His name was George Floyd. please remember his name.

George Floyd was, as described by his family, a peaceful and kind man, a gentle giant if you will. he was a peaceful activist and fought for basic rights for blacks, as well as other things.

he had been accused of forging a check and had been arrested by the police. he died after pleading for help as a police officer used his knee on Floyd's neck to pin him -- unarmed and handcuffed -- to the ground. his last words were, "I can't breathe."

I will not name the man who killed him, but his name is plastered all over Instagram and Twitter, as well as the original video of George being killed.  his address as well. and his family. i personally dont agree with doxxing, but this man is roaming free. the four cops that were involved in his death were fired, but charges have not been pressed. they have not been convicted. this whole situation was called an accident.

there are protests riots all over Minnesota, and there's tear gas, bullets, and national guard. people have been hurt in the protests and riots, and some parts of Minnesota is on fire. if you're in the area, please stay safe!

I am personally not clear on whether the protests turned into riots first, or the police shot tear gas first because my friends protesting right now say it is the latter. the news says different.

(just a quick fun fact, just a few weeks ago, whites protested on social distancing with guns, might i add, without being bothered much by the police, while unarmed people are fighting peacefully for justice and they're being beaten and tear gassed. i-)

now let's compare. George Floyd was killed because he allegedly forged a cheque. Dylann Roof, a man who killed 9 people, was arrested peacefully.

to my trans friends: Tony McDade, a trans man, was killed by a cop. from some of the news online, it is said that he was armed, and attacked a cop. however, ALL say that eyewitnesses said tony was unarmed. thankfully, most articles are gendering him correctly. it is unclear so far what exactly happened.

i could tell you so many other stories about blacks who were killed for absolutely no reason, but I'm running out of time. dm me if you want the stories.

these are the names of some, but not all of the black people who have been murdered. this is a screenshot of what my friend did.

Recognise that white privilege is real.  white privilege doesn't mean that your life isn't hard. I'm not invalidating anyone experiences. it just means your skin isn't making things harder for you.

Donald Trump called the protestors thugs, but a tweet from 2015 that he tweeted shows him saying that the word thug is racist. hey Mr president, what the fuck?

he also said, and i quote: when the looting starts, the shooting starts." this phrase originated from a police chief named Walter Headley, who targeted black people in 1967 ahead of the republican convention. dm me if you'd like the tweets.

you can donate to many foundations which help out with BLM. i donated to campaign zero, which plans to stop police violence, as well as the memorial fund for George Floyd.

say their names. say the names of the blacks that were killed by the police even though their offences were small. some children were killed for no reason, for example Tamir Rice, who was 12 when he died. HE DIED because he was playing with a toy gun.

police officers are told to see everyone as a threat, but that's not the way. you do not take out your gun the moment you feel threatened.

if you would like to see the articles and the tweets I have mentioned here, or links to petitions or donation drives, dm or text me, id be more than happy to help.

tell your family about what's happening. because racism is still so prominent in the world, and nothing has changed.  say their names with me. remember these peoples stories, because black lives MATTER.

let's care for black lives, not just black deaths. black lives have always mattered, they matter now and they matter forever. use your voice! speak out against racism, because ignorance isn't bliss. the world will not be bliss until black lives matter to everyone. because in the end, we're all human, arent we?

sending love to wherever you are,
-sky
