•- Neko POV -•
"Dear Neko.." She mumbled aloud as she began to read through the note. She didn't like the letter much at all, it saying things like "I can't anymore" and "I don't want to hurt you," the last line reading "Just know that I love you, and your the best thing to ever happen to me." Neko began to freak out shooting up from the couch and almost tripping on the small living room table. The window was open, she must have gone out that way. Neko climbed right through the window determined to find her lover.. She didn't know why, or where she was running, but that note sounded like a suicide note, and she couldn't stand by knowing she was going to off herself.
Knowing Tamarin, she would have picked an abandoned establishment, where she would think that no one would stop her. The nearest place like that was the old Stines Warehouse that they always said had electricity issues. It wasn't far, just a few turns weaving around houses and a local gas station and then it was a straight shot up the hill. Rain pattered on the ground around her as she ran, her eyes were clouded with grief, Tamarin couldn't die.. Not like this. Neko hopped the fence and made her way into the old creeky warehouse, throwing open the doors as a loud boom sounded in the distance lightingup the sky and the foggy windows with a flash of white light. She really wished what she was about to see was fake.
From the wooden beam that was supposed to only be there to support the ceiling of the warehouse, a rope held something off the ground. Wait it wasn't just something.. That was Tamarin! Neko froze in the doorway, suddenly her knees giving out and she fell, paws over her mouth. "No no no no.." She mumbled, tears soaking the fur under her eyes. These tears grew into metaphorical waterfalls on her face, dripping down off her face and onto her hoodie. Tamarin is dead? No.. no she can't be- Another loud boom of thunder was heard, and the weak smell of smoke touched her nose. She looked up to see there was a fire creeping it's way towards Tamarin's limp figure. She watched in horror, she was gonna burn- Even if she was already dead Neko had to try and take her down.
She rushed up to her feet and began to run towards her hanging lover, but just as she did a second beam had fallen right in front of her, coated in flames. Another boom of thunder sounded as Neko began to climb her way through the flames. Yes you read that right; Neko was climbing though fire like it was nothing. Because she was born with the power to control fire, that gave her some great perks like fire immunity and the ability to fire-proof some objects, like her clothing. Clearing the large obstacle that had gotten in her way she ran up the where Tamarin hung, but it was too late, fire had covered her entirely, she wasn't fast enough. She screeched in frustration through her tears.
Tamarin was actually dead.
"Aw what a shame.. Another dead huh?" Neko looked over, confused. Behind her stood another cat, she looked just like her other then her purple markings.. Wait actually, she looked familiar. After years of saying nothing at all, here she was. "Delta..?" Neko choked on her voice drying the tears with her hoodie sleeve confused. "Aw~ So you do remember me!" Delta purred with that psychotic smile she always had. Neko furrowed her brow, hissing. "What do you want.."
"Hm, I want a lot of things.. But you have to work for that kind of stuff."
"No.. Why are you here..?"
"Because you know deep down I'm the only person that's here for your dumbass." Delta snarled a bit giving Neko a chill. Delta looked up the the burning corpse. "It's your fault you know.." Neko's ear twitched. My fault..? She paused narrowing her eyes slightly. "What do you mean..?"
"It's your fault she's dead." Neko paused thinking about that. "You know you could have done something to prevent this, but you didn't." Delta took a step closer, Neko on the ground being drowned in guilt and remorse. "No one will forgive you, not even that slut you called a girlfriend." Neko clenched her fists and let out a low hiss-growl, "Tamarin.. was not.. a slut..." Delta just shrugged, "Eh, same difference.. My point still stands tho." She held out a paw to Neko, it seemed to glow with a purple aura. "I forgive you. No one else does, but I do." She wore a slightly unsettling smug smile on her face. Honestly the smile was fine, it's just that anything Delta did seemed unsettling or creepy.
Neko took her hand after a moment, giving in, but she had no idea what she had just done. Pain shot up her arm and she flinched, trying to tug her arm back. "That settles it then, were officially bonded." Neko stared, confused. "What do you mean..?"
"I mean you can't get rid of me now. Also, watch this~" Delta suddenly rolled up her sleeve and bit her own arm with needle-sharp teeth, and pain shot through Neko's arm as well. She grunted in pain as the Delta pointed to their arms. Neko rolled up her sleeve aswell. They had identical bite marks in the same spot on eachothers left arms, the fur around Neko's mark spotted with blood, while Delta's seemed to heal up and dissappear within minutes. "What the hell..?" Neko stared at her mark wondering if hers would heal, but hers didn't, it seemed to stay like a normal bite wound. "What are you playing at..?" She growled glaring up at the smug cat that stood by, both cats pulling down there sleeves again. "Nothing, just playing the game of life. And I want to win~"
