Chapter 6

Nathan

"How is the preparation going?" I asked in amusement as I watched my eldest brother loosen his tie and sink down on his chair in exhaustion.

He placed the phone's receiver with a bang and sighed, raising his eyebrows and running a hand through his face. "Bloody fantastic!"

Sarcasm dripped like honey from his mouth causing a chuckle to leave my mouth. I patted his shoulder before rounding his desk and taking a seat in front of him before saying, "I still don't get this competition you have with Ethan without his own knowledge."

"I am planning things that he hasn't yet." Will muttered with scoff on his tired face. "I was to be married first and he stole that from me. I'm going to steal every other events from him."

I shook my head at my brother's foolishness. It was a competition for Will to see who has the first of things. Apparently, they were both at a draw considering Ethan married first which lead him to have one point and now Will is throwing a bachelor party for him and Sophia, gaining him a second point.

"What other event are you talking about?" I question, finding it really homouress to watch my brother compete with the other clueless lad.

"I'll get Sophia pregnant!" He exclaimed, his face lightening in joy as if he found the solution to all his problems.

"No one is getting me pregnant." A new, yet familiar voice joined in on the conversation.

I rolled my lips in my mouth to stop the laugh to escape my mouth as I watched Will's face fall at Sophia's words. He glared at me for losing a second of my laugh that I covered with a fake cough. I relaxed back in my seat for the upcoming argument because Will had already opened his mouth with his defense. Crossing my arms across my chest, I waited for the banter to begin as my eyes flickered from both of them.

Sophia stood in front of Will's desk with her hands placed on her hips, her head cocked to one side and a frown written on her face. Her hair fell straight past her shoulder, tied in a pony tail. She was wearing a white shirt with plaid beige colour pants. Her feet supported high nude colour heels that looked like a killer machine. A similar plaid beige coat was hanging from her hand that lay on her hips. I noticed her face which was shinning due to recently applied makeup. She looked ready to go out.

"I have to!" Will claimed. "That is the only way I can win from him."

"There is no competition with Ethan in the first place!" Sophia exasperated, having probably done this before. Everyone in the family knew what Will was trying to do even Scarlett, apart from Ethan. Scarlett apologised a million times to Will when Ethan wasn't around to have stolen his unrecognised thunder. I had a serious laugh there where I just couldn't stop rolling on the ground.

"I know my brother and he is just trying to be discreet." Will hissed, narrowing his eyes at his fiancè. "I am sure he is planning to get Scarlett impregnate. What if she already is?"

Sophia stomped her feet and dropped her hands with a loud thud on the desk. "I can't with you. Scarlett is not getting pregnant. We are going out tonight to have drinks. I don't think pregnant women are allowed alcohol with a child in them."

Will frowned, his expression changing. Even I leaned in on this conversation as I had no idea about this impromptu. "You're going out?"

"Yeah. That was what I actually came in here for." Sophia replied, her voice soft and calm again.

"We had dinner plans." Will reminded, glancing at me once with question. I just shrugged and waited for Sophia to answer.

She sighed, glancing at me from the corner of her eyes. This caused me to raise an eyebrow at her. "Can I get a raincheck on that? Marisa needs me tonight. We're going out."

My body automatic reacted to her name. It stiffened with my jaws ticking. I tried to ease myself by looking away from Sophia who was still discreetly trying to see whether I react in someway. However, the worry for her friend also reflected from her face. I kept my curiousity at bay by not questioning her for the reason and made a face that would make it seem as if I was uninterested. Something quite opposite of my raging heart.

"Alright." Will replied hesitantly, giving me a side glance. I replied with a shrug. "You have fun? Call me if anything happens."

"Sure." She nodded before heading towards him to share a brief kiss. I looked away. "I'll text you the name and address of the place."

Will nodded in response and watched his fiance leave the office. He sighed and turned to me. The stare he gave me was intense which meant serious business. I could already predict his question. So before he could vomit all the questions, I answered with one sentence.

"Nothing is going on between Marisa and I." I stated.

He raised his hands and leaned back in his seat. "I didn't ask."

I gave him a flat look. "That's where you were about to head."

"You don't know." He muttered. "So, I had plans but now that's cancelled, how about you go on that date with me?"

I scoffed. "First of all, I ain't interested in incest and second, I'm straight."

Will rolled his eyes and got up. Closing his suit button, he straightened his suit by patting his chest and giving me a bright smile. "We are still going out. I'll call Mom and inform her while you be a sweetheart and ask if Ethan wishes to join."

I rubbed my forehead to ease the upcoming headache and stood up from my place to go look for Ethan. I walked all the way to his office because apparently he was too cool to pick my call.

I knocked twice on his door and just when I was about to push the door open, I heard shuffling from inside and a loud curse. Instantly, I stepped back and leaned against the secretary's table, who had probably left for the night.

Within few seconds, the door opened revealing a dishevelled Scarlett with her hair all over the place and her shirt tucked out of her skirt and heels in her hand.

"Nate, hi." She breathed out.

"Hey there, Scarlett." I smirked watching her squirm in embarrassment. "Aren't you suppose to go out with Sophia?"

"I was!" She exclaimed before shaking her head. "I am. I'm just running a bit late." She chuckled nervously. A loud phone ringing cut me off and gave her a chance to leave. "Oh, look, Sophia calls me. I'll see you at home."

Before I could reply or say anything, Scarlett was off. I simply waved her bye and strolled into Ethan's office. I watched him sit casually, turning around in his chair.

"Had fun?" I questioned as I watched few of his things down on the ground. I picked up a penholder and placed it back on the table with a bang.

"I was just trying something new." He smugly replied.

I rolled my eyes at his information or too much information. "Will asked us out for dinner since Sophia is busy to entertain him."

"I know. Scarlett got a call too and left me." Ethan replied with a frown. "Something about Marisa needing a girls night out."

I acted nonchalantly and ignored Marisa's name. "So, you up for it?"

"Sure. Let's go." He agreed and stood up, grabbing his suit from the back of the chair.

Ethan and I made our way downstairs to find Will already waiting for us in his car. Instead of going to a restaurant as I had predicted we would go, Will took us to a club which surprised both Ethan and I as we weren't really dressed for clubbing occasion. We were dressed formally for that matter. Upon asking him, all he did was increase the volume of the radio, blocking our words out. Reaching the club, Will made us loose our suit jacket and fold the sleeves up to our elbows to look a little like party type.

The music was too loud to hear anything. The thumping of everyone's feet on the ground as they jumped and danced mixed with the vibrating of base. The crowd was of mix age, I could even see some teenagers with alcohol in their hands, dancing without a care in the world. The atmosphere made me question Will's reason for bringing us here. We were suppose to go out for dinner, but here we are in a club.

I think Ethan had the same dilemma as he whispered something in Will's ears. In an answer, Will said something back which made Ethan glance at me. I raised an eyebrow at him, whereas all he did was smirk at me and nodded in Will's direction.

We stopped at the bar where Will ordered us a drink. He turned and swept his eyes around the club as if searching for someone.

"What's going on here?" I questioned as Ethan copied Will's action.

"We are here to have some drinks and let loose. It's been a while." Will answered by yelling in my ears.

I eyed him carefully, not fully believing his words as there was a mischief glint in his eyes which he failed to hide. Ethan's smirk was clear on his face which hinted otherwise. Yet, going against my logic, I ignored all these sign and took part in it.

The drinks came soon after and we drowned one by one. It took me few drinks to get a kick. I wasn't drunk but I was definitely feeling the alcohol messing with my brain making me tipsy. Ethan and Will seemed to be having fun while watching around and nodding their heads to the beat. Few women came around to approach them, but all they did was show their rings and declined politely. Those coming to me had an open invitation because neither was I married, engaged or in a relationship for that matter.

I was dancing with a brunette with her back to me and her hands tangled in my hair. Maybe, coming here wasn't a bad idea. I needed to be with a woman too since it had been a while. The brunette was a perfect candidate and she seemed interested too as her ass grinded against my crotch.

I matched her moves and looked up from down her body, when my eyes found a woman dressed in black mini dress, dancing with her hands in the air. Her hips swayed seductively to the music as if she could feel it to her core. The curves of her body was an eye candy to a guy which was why she had a lot of eyes on her.

Something in my chest inflamed and my stomach churned in jealousy as I watched an unknown guy come behind her, placing a hand on her waist and whispering something in ears. To my surprise, she shook her head and pushed him away. I watched her dance alone for sometime before going to her table and taking two glasses of shots and coming back to the dancefloor. Her friends watched her in concern but did not interfere.

Midst of watching the woman, I forgot about the woman dancing or grinding on me. As I turned my attention to focus back on her, she was already in the arms of another guy. It was embarrassing as I stood like a wooden plank in the middle of a dancefloor with a semi-hard cock straining my pants. I realised that I got hard by watching that woman and not by the one who was pushing at me through her ass.

I walked back to the bar to watch my brothers had their eyes on two particular woman. I rolled my eyes and took my glass and drowned the drink. I should've guessed this was Will's plan. It should have clicked as soon as I figured he was changing the location.

"I know what you're doing." I slurred in my brother's ears as he was busy watching his woman from afar. How desperate!

The alcohol was hitting me with a stronger kick than anticipated. Having drinks on empty stomach is never a good idea. I don't know what my mind was thinking when I decided that it was a great ordeal.

Will snapped his head in my direction. He eyed me carefully before placing a hand on my shoulder. "Are you okay?"

I swatted his hands away, momentarily losing my balance, but Ethan was quick to hold me. "You brought me here because of Marisa."

The smugness in his eyes returned but he was quick to hide it behind the glass of whiskey. "I did no such thing."

I rolled my eyes. "She has a boyfriend."

"That has never stopped you from getting a woman." Will commented, placing the glass down and giving me his undivided attention.

"Not all women are Marisa." I blurted, not really paying attention to my words and going with whatever comes to my mind. It was free from any restriction or barriers. I guess that's what alcohol does to you apart from giving you confidence like it did to Marisa who danced freely.

"Tell me, Nate." This time it was Ethan who began. "Do you still have feelings for Marisa?"

I laughed out loud at his question. I patted his shoulder as I figured what he was doing. "I may be drinking, but that does not mean I'll blurt everything."

Ethan shrugged. "They say drunk mind speaks sober heart."

I ignored his philosophy and swept my eyes around the dancefloor. I found who I was looking for and stayed glued to their moves.

"You did not answer the question." Will pushed.

"I don't like her." I stated, looking both of them in eye so they know it wasn't my drunk state saying it.

We kept a firm stare before they broke away and looked back at the table where Sophia and Scarlett resided.

Without any further conversation, I made my way through the crowd to the woman I had my eyes on. I placed my hands on her waist and pulled her closer to me. For a second, Marisa stiffened in my arms and turned around. Instead of pushing away as I expected her to do, she leaned in my touch. Her eyes connected with mine and a rueful smile took over her face.

"How ironic!" She exclaimed, throwing her head back and laughing. She almost toppled over but I had a firm hold on her waist. I pulled her back, effectively bringing her face closer to mine.

The flames in her eyes ignited and I could see fire burning in them. Marisa brought up her finger, trailing the side of my face. "I am in this state because of you and while I should be pushing you away, I am leaning into your arms."

"How much have you had to drink?" I asked, my voice slurring in between.

"Enough to do this." She whispered and leaned in to kiss my cheeks.

The area where her lips touched burnt a little which trailed down to my neck. I stopped her by tangling my hand in her hair and pulling them back. Marisa parted her lips while staring at me through hooded eyes.

"You're dating." I muttered, my eyes roaming around her face. Her makeup melting and mixing with sweat, her mascara smudging around her eyes. Even with such imperfection, she could still grab anyone's attention from within a mile.

Marisa grinned. "I am not."

I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion, my eyes stuck on her parted lips that looked soft to kiss. Unconsciously, I leaned closer barely leaving an inch between our lips. Marisa's breath got caught in her throat and the electricity around us crackled. The chemistry that was buried deep within us, suddenly made its presence known. The parts where our skin touched burn with desire and craved for more.

"You broke up?" I breath against her lips, my hands slowly running down her back with a sensual touch.

Marisa fisted the front of my shirt and curled her fingers in my hair pulling my head back, kissing my chin and lingering around. "Yes. Jackson broke up with me."

"Perfect." I whispered before finally giving in.

Our lips met in a hurry, moving with passion and urgency. A deep moan escapes her throat as Marisa pushed herself closer against me. I groaned as her front rubbed against my already hard on. My hands trailed down to her ass, grabbing them roughly before realising where we were. Removing them from her butt, I tangled them in her hair and angled her face to the side to deepen the kiss.

I pushed my tongue in her mouth, but she teasingly denied me entrance. I smirked against her lips before jerking my hips to make her feel my hard-on. It worked as Marisa gasped and moaned together, granting me access to her mouth. My tongue explored her inside, getting familiar with her taste again. We pulled back to breath in air before our lips met again.

"I don't think this is a right place to take this further." Marisa whispered against my lips, breathing heavily.

"Then let's get out of here."

Wohho! That escalated quickly but old chemistries are hard to die and with drinks in our body, it's even harder. For Marisa and Nathan, impossible. Let's see what happens in the next chapter. Until then.
