Prologue
~AUTHOR POV~
A couple ran through the burning wooded forest as fast as they could. Desperate to get to safety but each in hand two children. The man hybrid held his own two year old son, a wolf hybrid just like him in one arm and a three month old human little girl in the other. His mate and wife, she too carried two little boys. One little two year old wild cat hybrid and a one year old bunny hybrid.
The adults running as fast as they could through the forest, all the while mourning the loss of their life long friends that were hunted and burnt out their homes deep in the forest by humans that wanted them dead.
Hybrids are treated unfairly, either captured for god knows what reasons or killed. Neither of the running two want anything of that to happen especially to the young ones.
Their home was gone, everyone they knew is gone, nothing was left but themselves and what they had on their backs. The trees swarmed in fire and the air filled with smoke but thankfully they didn't have to fight off anymore humans that were trying to hunt them down.
The couple had managed to get away and finally in no time out the dangerous woods leaving everything behind but even coming out the dangerous environment, gasping for air and taking deep breaths of the more clear air now that they're a distance away, all they could think about was what to do next.
Standing in the middle of nowhere they had no option but to continue walking with these children in their arms just heading in one direction.
The children became restless, especially the baby girl as she became hungry and tired after all the chaos that currently happened hours before hand. This little girls fuss and stirring began to set off the three little boys. The four children sharing a close bond already even with being so young and the girl to only be of three months. Straight away the boys took to her so easily and it's hard to separate them from the baby. They always want to be with her but only do the couple know of what that intel's just as their fallen friends also knew.
Walking in silence apart from a few noises from the children and now that the baby girl was in the arms of the female hybrid she was more calm but still hungry which worries the couple a lot.
They walked for hours in one direction until they finally came to a stop on the outskirts of the forest to find a row of houses in what looks like a friendly, clean neighbourhood.
The woman knew of what her husband was think as he stared at each house, studying the environment hard.
"Soobin, please don't tell me you're actually considering this?"
The male hybrid set down the two boys and kneeled down to their level but eyes not removing from the one house that caught his eyes the most.
"We have no choice Mina. She'll be better off with humans." Soobin
Mina too squatted down and placed the one year old bunny down to stand on his feet but come to hold hands with the wild cat hybrid boy.
"But what about the boys?! What about the promise me made Minho and Nancy?! We promised them we would take care of her!" Mina
She whisper yelled at him, glaring at her husband in total disbelief. Mina didn't want to give up the baby girl, she was all that was left of her best friends and wanted nothing more than to carry out her friends dying wish.
"Don't you think I know that?! This is the best way to take care of her Mina! She's a human girl, she has no life with hybrids like us! You and I both know this!" Soobin
Soobin didn't want to let her go either. He so desperately wanted to keep her too but knows they couldn't. None of them could. The difference is they're hybrids, part animal they can live out in the wild where as for a human it's much harder and the baby needs milk. Which none of them have as of right now.
Mina sadly nods, biting her lip with tears in her eyes. Her little two year old son seeing this strolls over to her and kisses his mothers cheek seeing her sadness but not quite understanding what's going on.
"What about the boys? You know this will tear them apart." Mina
Soobin sighs sadly, glancing to his son and the two other little boys holding hands just staring at the rows of houses in awe because of the street lights that light up the streets. Something they've never seen before.
"They'll find each other again. When ever that may be, but they will." Soobin
"O-Okay." Mina
She sniffed through her tears and forced a smile to her son but he started to whine and lower his little wolf ears on the top of his head after seeing his mother so distressed.
"Honey let the boys say goodbye and I'll take her to that house over there." Soobin
He pointed to the White House with bright coloured flowers decorated to the front of the house and garden with bright green grass. It wasn't the house itself even if the nice looking house helped but it was the sticker on the car that spoke out about hybrid rights. They supported the current movement about change of laws with hybrids freedom. Just how the baby girls biological parents were, they fought for the freedom of hybrids.
Mina allowed the boys to kiss the baby in the head and give a small cuddle when they were told to do so. None of them questioned it but gave the baby affection since they never passed up on the opportunity.
Mina then took the chance to say her goodbyes through her tears, hugging the baby, kissing her forehead and the tip of her nose and gazing at her beauty which reminds her of her friend. Then carefully, supporting the girls head she passed baby to her husband.
Now with the baby in his arms, Soobin stood back up but this made the bunny hybrid start to cry and make grabby hands to the man. It seems he didn't like Soobin taking away the baby as he was always a possessive child and when it came to the baby, he never called her by name, only with the word MINE.
"Mine! Mine!"
The boy chanted and began to follow Soobin as he began to walk away with the baby towards the houses. Mina stood up and grabbed the boy by the back of his blue pyjamas t-shirt but the two other little boys started to get up set also.
"Daddy! No!"
"Baby, stay!"
The two other little boys began to cry and chase after the man with the baby but lucky for Mina she quickly used her multitasking skills and swept up all three small boys in her arms, pressing them together and walked away in the opposite direction from her husband and back into the trees to hide.
Mina knew this would happen and this only makes it harder. Now the boys are going to be heart broken even for being one and two years old. Most definitely is this going to affect them as they grow older.
Soobin walks carefully towards the houses, careful is a must so he doesn't get seen by anyone and lucky for him at this time in the evening everyone was in their homes settling for the night.
Crossing the street undetected was no problem and coming up to the house and paused by the front door to say his quick goodbye to the baby. The very child that was his best friends pride and joy in life, now he has to let her go so she can have a good life.
Carefully he set down the baby wrapped up in her white blanket that also smeared of black smoke after the fire they had escaped from. Knocking on the door hard to be heard and quickly running off to hide behind a bush across the street to watch that she's been noticed and taken in.
And she was.
The front door opened to reveal a young couple both in their robes and pjs. The first to notice the baby was the woman, gasping in surprise and wasted no time to pick up the baby into her arms and hold the baby close to her chest while her husband also now noticing the baby was looking around the porch and driveway to see who could of left a baby at their door step.
Soobin was relieved that she was taken in so easily and he watched them take the baby girl into their home. Soobin let out a little sob, a part of him feeling guilt that he had to do this and give her away but it's for the best. In this day of age, hybrids can't raise a human child. Another part of him was mourning the loss of his six friends now letting that go for only a moment now that he's not in the presence of his wife and the children. He had to keep it together for them but now he can let it go before he wipes his tears and runs back to his wife and the three boys before Mina can no longer control them.
Now it's time to build a life for them out here and raise these boys. At least two of the children can stay with them but that doesn't mean the baby girl will ever be forgotten, because she is far from that. She's family.
