Prologue
Snapping her eyes open, Aamaya squinted a bit before she got accustomed to the darkness around her. Where am I? She looked around but could not make out her surroundings in the dark.
"Reyansh!" She called out his name and tried to move.
Her wrists were chained to the wall on either side and her feet were tied to the chair she was seated in.
She struggled against the chains trying to free herself. "Help! Someone help me!"
"Silence! Sit still or you will unnecessarily hurt yourself!" An unfamiliar voice boomed from a little distance away.
She glanced straight and noticed a small light flickering on the floor before her as well as a pair of boots behind it as the man towering before her pointed the flashlight of his torch to the floor. She switched her glance up to his face but could not see who he was in the shadows of the dark.
Her heart scampered into her throat as the man was merely a few feet away from her.
"Who are you? What do you want?" She tried to question her abductor sounding fearless but her voice emerged weak with bated breath. "Why have you brought me here? What are you going to do to me?"
"You will know the answers to your questions when it is time for you to know them. For now, silence! Or you will face the consequences!"
Aamaya remained silent for a moment. Reyansh... I can feel his presence. "Reyansh, where are you?" Aamaya froze as she realized she had spoken the question in her mind aloud.
The man standing before her banged his hand against the wall and switched off his torchlight, plunging her surroundings into complete darkness once again.
"Shout and shout how much you wish! No Reyansh will come for you!"
"No! My Reyansh will come! He loves me more than his life!"
A gloved strong hand grabbed her neck and pinned her to the wall. "He does not love you. He never did and never will." His hold on her neck was firm yet gentle.
Feeling stifled though his hold allowed her to breathe, Aamaya relentlessly argued, "You are wrong. He may fool the whole world to think so but I know that he loves me. And he will never stop loving me. He will come for me."
"He will not come!"
"No! Either he is here or he will come!"
The man suddenly withdrew his hand from her neck.
Aamaya looked up and tried to see his face in the dark. She could see the outline of his figure but his face was masked.
"He will not come."
Aamaya turned her face away in disbelief.
"If I could chain you up here, then imagine what I could have done to him."
Aamaya glanced back at the man standing before her. Fear was evident in her eyes though she was sure she could feel the presence of her Reyansh nearby. "What have you done to him?"
"I've killed him."
She forgot to breathe for a moment. Her heart sank in her chest. No. No way. My Reyansh can't die. She felt a sweeping movement next to her as the man left her alone and walked away.
"Say what you want! I won't believe you!" called out Aamaya, struggling to free her wrists from the chains but she heard no response.

Her eyes opened again a long while later to the same darkness. Her wrists had become sore after all the wriggling to free her hands in vain and she had fallen asleep without realizing.
She felt a movement next to her and glanced to her left to see the man lurking nearby in the shadows. He was applying an ointment to her wrist where it was hurting after she had struggled against the chains tying her hands to the wall.
She could not see who it was but her heart knew very well.
Tears pricked her eyes as she watched him. Reyansh....
