The Ruins of Sol

Tricky slowly placed one paw in front of the other, carefully avoiding rocks, twigs, and other things like debris that could hinder her progress, whether she was sluggish or not.

As she left the Celestic Town sidewalks, she didn't even look back. She knew, somehow, she'd be back, and she'd bring Zil, no matter what happened. She wouldn't accept any other outcome.

As soon as she left the town, the path was overtaken by billowing clouds of dense, white fog. Even she, with her black fur, was mostly invisible, masked by darkness and the mist.

Tricky didn't care, however.

She just kept walking through the fog.

She traversed through the route, carefully walking over bridges and narrow pathways.

Zil... I'll find you! she thought to herself as she continued slowly walking down the neatly invisible pathway. She couldn't even see where she was going, but a sense of resolve and urgency propelled her forward. Unknowingly, she had used a move she didn't even know she had. Cam Mind. She somehow felt more alert, yet relaxed. There was some feeling within her, some form of certainty that she couldn't decipher, despite her efforts.

Then the baby Zorua wobbled, then collapsed. In her urgency to find her sister, she hadn't noticed that she was stumbling from exhaustion. She disappeared into the fog.

Zil clawed desperately at the metal cage holding her. She was still haunted by the memory of that Golem dragging Amaya out of the cavern, along with a sack that had a dollar sign on it. The Fennekin had cried and struggled, but she was no match for the Golem.

She bit the lock and finally, the metal cracked. Amaya had tried to burn it, but to no avail. Zil concluded that it was a weak yet fireproof metal. A smirk crossed her face, "You thought the 'flying heart' was weak," she laughed, "but I've got to get out of here," she said as she reached out her paws to pry open the cage door. "Ngh..!" She cried out softly as the cracked cage cut her paw.

"This way..." an eerie whisper floated through the cavern. Zil gasped as it reached her ears, but something inside her said, 'trust the voice'.

"Concentrate... calm your mind..." the mystical voice said. The golden eyes Zorua was confused, but she did as she was told. A wave of tranquility washed over her.

"Now... come this way... hurry..!"

Tricky awoke to see an Eevee staring at her worriedly. "Oh, thank Mew you're awake!" she squeaked happily.

"Who are you?!" the Zorua asked fearfully.

The Eevee giggled and twirled. "I'm Shimmer!" she cheered. "You fell in the fog from exhaustion, so I dragged you to my home! My parents aren't here right now, though."

"How did you know I fell..?"

"I heard you, of course."

"Huh?" Tricky asked, confused. She tilted her head cutely, blue eyes shining.

"When you fell, it made a lot of noise!" Shimmer chirped.

"So... why did you drag me here..?"

"To save you silly! A Golem was about to grab you, but I hid you with Baton Pass! Then I dragged you back here."

Zil finally began to walk towards the voice, but she quickly happened upon a wall. There were strange inscriptions on it.

She placed her paw on the wall curiously, and then it shuddered. She quickly recoiled as the wall fell, revealing a passageway that wasn't there before.

"Woah..!" Zil said, and despite common sense, she walked down the passage.

Inside, everything was dark and musty. The walls were dark, almost black. Occasionally, a flicker of gray could be seen. Nonsense whispers would occasionally crescendo and grow quiet again as the Zorua walked through the cavern. The only noise was that of the whispers and her pawsteps on the floor, which was unnerving for Zil.

"Come closer," the voice from earlier called, much louder. She cringed when the sound suddenly reached her, but did as she was told. In the darkness, she could barely see the outline of a Zoroark, though it was transparent.

"Dear child..." the Zoroark said in a kind voice. "My name is Kuna," she introduced herself softly. "I am the one who delivered the prophecy long ago, and inscribed it on the cave walls. Perhaps you'd like to hear the full version?" She chuckled.

Zil nodded in wonder, and the transparent Zoroark smiled.

"Two tricks who can tell lies
Three will live, two will die
By a puzzled ones own hand
Two special ones will be lost from this land
Fulfill the prophecy long past, begun
Before the monster one has become
Do not make the mistakes like me
Do not attempt to be tricky.

Two tricks who can tell lies
Of them your heart shall indeed fly
A puzzled one will take something dear
Out of your sisters own selfish fear
Fulfill the prophecy long past, begun
Before the monster she has become
In the adjourning town you'll find
The quest that starts the journey of lies.

The flying heart
Won't fall apart
The monster lies
Decides who dies
The one who shines
Ignores the signs
The turn of fate
Won't end up late
Unless the heart
Chooses to depart.

A monster of lies
The heart that flies
The one that shines
The two that die
Twins from the same egg
One with pink and one with red
A third one, somewhat new
Shiny, different, colored blue
These three crusade through the night
Two with a form of blind sight
The three tricks will soon find
That everything is made of lies.

The flying heart and monster of lies
Together with the one that shines
They'll fix the things that have been wronged
Returning truth to those it belonged
Sadly, once the good deed is done
Their memories will be returned to none
Forever they will have forgotten
Unless the sins of the rotten
Are redeemed in future lost
No matter what she finds the cost
Then the journey will be restored
To celebrate forevermore."
