sebastian smythe was stood by the front door holding lea their two year old daughter he was waiting for his wife rachel to get ready.

it had been an hectic day they were supposed to arrive back in ohio from new york yesterday but their flight had been delayed and given they have two young children two year old lea and four year old sebastian jr it had been a stressful twenty four hours. plus sebastian wasnt exactly looking forward to tonight they were going to santana and brittany's house for a dinner party. santana wasnt one of his fravorite people and kurt and blaine were to be their too and even though it had been a decade since they left school and he and rachel had been together for seven years he still didnt like kurt and kurt didnt like him. if tonight didnt mean so much to rachel he wouldnt be going but for her he was willing to put up with anything.

they were staying at his parents in westerville while they were in town and they were going to look after the children while they went to dinner.

" rach we are going to be late" sebastian called up the stairs.

" im ready" she said appearing at the top of the stairs.

" lea look at your mommy doesnt she look gorgeous " sebastian said

" hey baby" rachel said kissing her daughter.

" mommy mommy" sebastian jr called hurtling through from the kitchen where he had been eyeing the sweets for the trick or treaters.

" hey sweetie give me a cuddle you be good for grandma and grandad " rachel said

" i will" he said

sebastian kissed lea and set her down and cuddled sebastian jr as his dad came walking through.

" right then we best be going" sebastian said

" have fun the kids will be fine " charles said

" bye mom" sebastian called through.

" bye have fun" she called back from the kitchen.

" right then babe lets go" sebastian said opening the front door.

meanwhile

brittany was setting the table she and Santana had just bought the house in lima with the money santana had made starring in several commercials.

santana was currently cooking in the kitchen they were expecting kurt blaine rachel sebastian quinn and hunter in just under an hour time.

" ok remind me again why we invited smythe and claringtion " santana asked walking through into the dining room.

" because they are rachel and quinns husbands and we said we wanted to host a couples dinner party we cant do that if we dont invite both halves of the couple can we. " brittany said

" no i guess your right" santana said smiling at brittany.

meanwhile

" according to santana's directions we take the next left" kurt said as blaine drove.

" ok im so glad we are doing this we should host our own dinner party its so much fun i cant wait to see everyone " blaine said.

" me to apart from him ofcourse " kurt said

" kurt they have been together for almost eight years they are married they have two absolutely adorable angelic children cant you accept that sebastian has changed we are not sixteen anymore" blaine said

" i know all that its just he seems to get off on annoying me" kurt said

" he says the same about you" blaine said.

" relax i will be civil with him for rachie's sake" kurt said

meanwhile

" so mrs claringtion are you looking forward to tonight" hunter asked quinn as he drove to brittana's house.

they had only been married four months they got together at rachel and sebastian's fifth wedding anniversary eight months ago and had fallen madly inlove.

" yes i am are you" quinn asked smiling at him.

" yeah it should be an interesting night" hunter said

meanwhile

brittany was now checking on dinner while santana got dressed as she returned to the kitchen brittany stopped stirring the pan and smiled at her wife. santana walked over to her and they started to kiss until the door bell rang.

" i wonder which of our guests have arrived" brittany said excitedly santana smiled at her bevore going to let their guests in.

upon opening the door she saw kurt and blaine stood in the pouring rain huddled under a huge umbrella blaine was hokding a bottle of neon pink cocktail.

" come on in" santana said letting them in.

" thanks for inviting us this is for you" blaine said handing thr bottle to her.

" thanks your welcome your the first ones here the others better not be late wouldnt want aunty snix to tell them off" santana said

" your house is beautiful " kurt said

" thank you and before you start we have our own ideas" santana said knowing kurt would want to help them decorate.

then the door bell buzzed again and santana opened the door once more it was quinn and hunter.

" come in" santana said sge and quinn hugged hunter stood smiling at her and kurt and blaine but it was clear he didnt know them well enough to greet them with a hug but did hand santana a bottke of wine.

" so it seems berry is waiting to make an entrance " santana said closing the door.

" actually their flight was delayed yesterday and with the children they probably are running little late" quinn said given hunter and sebastian were good friends they often hung out with them and she and rachel had become very close.

" i still cant believe they have two kids" kurt said

" i know its crazy but their great kids" hunter said

brittany came through and ran to their friend and hugged them all even hunter she was so exvited about tonight.

" now we are just waiting for..." kurt saidbut stopped as the door bell rang brittany opened the door.

" rachie" she squealed pulling her in out of the rain sebastian walked in after her he and hunter bro bugged and rached hugged them all blaine shook sebastian's hand quinn hugged him.

" we're not to late are we" rachel asked

" nope your on time" santana said

" this is for you " sebastian said handing brittany a bottle of champagne.

" ooh champagne" santana said

" right now your all here lets go through to the living room for a pre dinner drink" brittany said

" sounds good" sebastian said.

they made their way through following brittany santana had gone to check on dinner brittany picked up a tray of drinksalreafy prepared and handed them round.

" cheers" hunter said

"yes and to hopefully the first of many dinner parties " brittany said they all clinked glasses and took a sip except for quinn.

" dont you like it i can make you something else" brittany asked

"wait hold on are you pregnant " kurt asked.

" yeswe werent going to say anything as its your night but we are so happy" quinn said she smiled at rachel because rachel already knew as did sebastian.

" congratulations " blaine said.

" what are we celebrating" santaba asked arriving with some appetisers.

" quinns Having a baby but i dont understand why that means she cant drink i could understand it if the stork couldnt but ..." brittany started to say.

" brit brit remember me telling you how babies are really made" santana said

" oh yeah sorry i forgot" brittany said

" you certainly picked an interesting night to host this Halloween of all nights" kurt said

" yeah but you all used to be s ared of me so it seemed fitting" santana laughedas the door bell rang.

" are their any more guests" kurt asked

" no it will be a trick or treater" brittany said excitedly and went out of the room.

" so i hear you guys have had a stressful few days" blaine said to rachel and sebastian.

" yeah our flight was delayed five hours and with a four year old and a two yeay old it was quite stressful " rachel said

" atleast we were in first class" sebastian said

" still every bit the snob i see" kurt said

" you know kurt its a proven fact that people who call people snobs tend to be jealous " sebastian said

brittany walked back into the room looking very confused which wasnt that unusual but given hiw exvited she was the others noticed.

" brit brit are you ok" santana asked

" yeah but you guts heard the doorbell right" brittany asked.

" yeah " they all said

" well there was nobody there" she said

" probably kids messing about" sebastian said

" yeah" brittany said

" brit what is it" santana asked

" do you ever get the feeling your been watched when i went outside to see if there was some kids huding i saw nothing but i could help but feel i was been watched" she said.

" its probably just kids" santana said

" hunt and will go have a l8ok around if your concern about it" sebastian said

" no no its probably my imagination like the time i thought i saw a unicorn " brittany said

" right then shall we go through to the dining table dinner is almost ready" santana said

they all made their way through and sat down apart from brittana who went to the kitchen to get the food.

" so how are sebastian jr and lea" blaine asked

" they fine lea is just getting over a cold but their good thanks" rachel said

" how long are you guys in town " kurt asked

" a week we are staying with my parents and spending time with rach's dads too" sebastian said

" we are in town for a few weeks we are debating whether to buy a house here or in new york " hunter said

" really" rachel asked

" yeah with the baby we are deciding where we want to settle" quinn said as the door bell rang as brittany and santana were still in the kitchen hunter stood up and went through to answer it but returned a minute later.

" no one there" he said as he said down.

" i hope we are not going to be pranked all night" rachel said

" here we are" santana said as she and brittany came through carting their starters.

" who answered the door " brittany asked

" i did there wasnt anybidy there " hunter said

" dont worry brit brit its probably just some dumb kids messing around lets enjoy our evening" santana said as she placed everyones starters infront of them.

hi guys i know this chapter wasnt very halloweeny but it was merely setting the scene for what is to come.

also this story is more likely to be eight chapters instead of ten to twelve hope you enjoy it. its diffent to what i normally write. so i hope its alright.i have a few halloween short stories to publish in my smytheberry short stories collection which will be published tomorrow. the next chapter of this will be published later today and the third tonight.
