"Are you finally done?"
"Yes, I'm coming," Oliver turned around annoyed and looked at himself in the mirror one last time.
For a long time he'd thought about what to wear for this day, until his choice fell on one of his usual outfits.
A plain white oversized shirt combined with brown corduroy trousers had never hurt anyone, he thought to himself while running his fingers through his black curls. He would love to shave off those curls, but then his mother would kill him. Although he liked his curls, it would be good for him to have a change.
That's exactly why his hyper little sister was waiting for him in the hallway to take him out for a walk. It was Halloween and Liz had been looking forward to this day all year. Sweets, funny costumes and lots of happy people. What more could you want?
Somewhere along the line, it had become a tradition that Oliver and Liz went around the houses together on Halloween and not with their friends or their mother. How that had happened, neither of them could remember, but they'd a good time every year.
Only today Oliver wasn't in the right mood to celebrate Halloween.
"Olli, where are you?" Liz seemed to be losing patience.
Oliver quickly grabbed his bag and his most important things and hurried out of his room. Downstairs, his sister was already standing in the open doorway, fully dressed as a witch.
"You're not dressed up at all," she noted disappointedly.
"This year I'm going as myself," Oliver returned, without paying any further attention to his sister. She accepted the comment and went out the door. Her big brother followed a few seconds later and together they set off through their neighbourhood.
