Caleb's POV

I got into the car and Mom asked me how the tryouts were. All I said was great and didn't talk to her for the rest of the ride.

All I could think about was Katie. She seemed odd at the tryouts, like she was avoiding me. Maybe she was tired, like she said, but I wasn't really buying it. I've known Katie for years and I know how to tell when she's lying, but last night was hard to tell.

Was there another guy? Was she feeling bad for Sydney so she was trying to be a good friend and let Syd take me back? I was getting sick of all these unanswered questions flying in my head, so I decided to text Katie.

C: Katie what's going on?
K: what do you mean?
C: u were acting strange at the tryouts, is everything ok?
K: yeah everything's great
C: u sure?
K: positive. Anyways I gtg see u tomorrow
C: okay ily
K: lyt

I sighed and plugged in my phone. I felt like she was avoiding me again, but why?

Katie's POV

About an hour after I got home I was doing math when Caleb texted me. He was asking me what was going on and if I was okay, and I lied by saying yes. I wasn't sure who I liked anymore; Caleb or Luke?

I still have feelings for Caleb, but now I've all of a sudden got feelings for Luke. He and Caleb are a lot alike, so that's probably why I started falling for him.

That's when I decided what to do.

'I'm gonna regret this.' I thought as I texted Caleb back.

K: Caleb?
C: what's up?
K: idk how to say this, but, I think I'm starting to have feelings for someone else...
C: oh
K: I'm really sorry! Truly I am! But maybe we need to take a break. Maybe I can see this person for a while and you see Sydney or someone else for a while.
C: I guess
K: I'm so sorry! Do you forgive me?
C: see you at school tomorrow I gtg
K: Caleb wait!

He left the message on read. I started to cry a little, but quickly wiped away my tears so Brennan couldn't hear me. He's a great brother, but I hate it when he gives me love advice. Sure, he's been dating Annie for almost two years, so he knows what he's talking about, but still.

Brennan walked in anyway. "Hey, Katie, can you help me with...hey are you okay?"

I shrugged and wiped away my tears.

"Tell me." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"I've been dating Caleb for a few days now, and I thought I loved him. But then I was talking about Luke to a girl who likes him, and then I realized I have feelings for him..." I said.

Brennan sighed. "You told me Caleb was caught in a triangle. I'm not sure if he is now, but I know you are. You need to make a decision."

"I-I kinda did." I began to explain how I basically broke up with Caleb for a while so I could ask out Luke, which I haven't done yet.

"Oh, gosh, Katie. You've gotten yourself in a huge mess." Brennan said.

"I know." I mumbled. "But I'll fix it!"

"You better, because this could ruin your friendships with people. It already ruined your friendship with Sydney, now I think yours and Caleb's is on the verge." Brennan patted my shoulder and left the room.

I sighed and decided I'd text Luke now.

K: hey Luke
L: uh hi Katie! Why r u texting me?
K: uh, do you want to go on a date?
L: a date? But ur dating Caleb!
K: we decided to take a break to decide on our feelings for each other. I think I like you
L: wow. Uh is Saturday ok?
K: Saturday I'm a bit busy. How about Friday?
L: I can't, I have tryouts after school and a study date with Veronica. Saturday is my only day
K: okay I'll try for Saturday. Bye
L: bye

I felt bad that I would have to cancel my plans with Brennan on Saturday. We were planning on going golfing together, but that can be rearranged.

I quickly talked to Brennan about it and texted back Luke, saying I could go.

I just hope I didn't make a mistake about all this.

Luke's POV

Friday came before I knew it. I had just finished my extra day of tryouts, so I was by myself with the coach.

He came over and patted my back. "You're good, kid. Results will be posted on the board in front of my office Monday morning."

"Thanks, Coach." I said as he left.

I quickly grabbed my stuff and texted Veronica I was on my way home. Mom picked me up and took me home.

When I got home Sydney was squealing.

"What are you so happy about?" I asked as I opened the fridge.

"Caleb asked me out! We're back together again!" She screamed.

"Woah, slow your roll." I sat down and began eating an apple. "That doesn't mean you're back together. It just means he's giving you a second chance."

"Same thing." She said as she walked over and sat across from me. "Anyway, looks like you're in a triangle."

I laughed. "With who?"

"Veronica and Katie. I heard she asked you out, and I already know you like her. And Veronica likes you."

"It becomes a triangle if I like Veronica back." I pointed out.

"Well do you?" Sydney asked.

I shook my head. "She's really nice and pretty, but not my type. I don't date science nerds."

Sydney rolled her eyes. "She's not a science nerd, she's just really good at it. Besides, she's a band nerd."

"Band nerd? She's in the marching band?" I asked.

Sydney nodded. "Yeah, she plays trumpet. I knew her from middle school. She's been playing since sixth grade, so she's pretty good."

The doorbell rang. I got up and opened it. Veronica was smiling and holding her books. "Hey, ready to study?"

"Sure. Come in, we'll sit at the table." I said as she walked in.

Sydney greeted her before going to her room.

Veronica and I sat next to each other as we opened our science books.

"Okay, let's go over the parts of the cell. Do you remember the 'power house' of the cell? The question I saved your butt on that got us here?" Veronica asked.

I laughed and wracked my brain for it. "Um..." I tried opening my notes but Veronica slapped my hand. When she touched my hand we made eye contact. I never realized how pretty she was...

She blushed and laughed awkwardly as she took my notebook. "Well? What's the answer?"

"It was, uh, mitochondria." I answered.

"Correct! Now, what part of the cell acts as the 'gatekeeper'?" She asked.

"Um, the cell membrane." I answered.

"You're getting better at this!" She said. She asked me tons of more questions that I surprisingly remembered.

At the end of our study session she closed her book and smiled. "Wow, Luke, you know more than we thought. Did you actually study before I got here?"

"No. I guess being with you helped me remember." I said.

She blushed.

What I did next I did not expect.

I leaned in. Veronica stayed still. I leaned in closer until our noses were touching. Then she leaned in and our lips touched.

We kissed for a few seconds before she wrapped her arms around my neck. I placed my hands on her hips and moved her closer towards me. We kissed for a couple minutes slowly and gently before she pulled away.

"Don't you have a girlfriend?" She asked.

"Nope." I said as I kissed her again.

She kissed me back before pulling away again. "I have to go. I had fun. And I bet you'll do great on the test Monday."

"Thanks to you." I said as I walked her out.

Her mom was waiting in the car, so she gave me a quick hug before running to her mom's car.

I smiled and waved before closing the door. When I got back inside Sydney was standing in the hallway going, "Ooh, someone's got a girlfriend."

I sighed. "You were right, Syd."

"About what? I'm right about a lot of things." She said.

"Funny. I think I'm in a triangle too..."

"Oh. Good luck with that." She said while patting my shoulder. "Oh, and by the way, Caleb and I are going to the movies tomorrow night."

"Katie texted me earlier that we were going to the movies tomorrow night, too." I said.

Sydney groaned. "The one near the mall? You're seeing Suicide Squad at eight thirty?"

I nodded.

"Great. Just great." Sydney stormed off to her room.

I sighed and sat down. Who am I gonna pick now? What am I supposed to do?

Now I know how Caleb felt. Why are triangles so hard and dangerous? It seems like everyone gets hurt.

A/N: This story is getting good I think it's turning out to be one of my favorites. It seems like Caleb, Luke, and Katie all have their own triangles, yet they're all connected...Caleb likes Sydney and Katie, Katie likes Caleb and Luke, and Luke likes Veronica and Katie. AGHH THEY'RE ALL CONNECTED!
Anyways I start school in 4 days AHHH! :(
