Jin follows Alexa into her office, "Mistress-"
Alexa pauses in her act of sitting down, "Jin, you don't need to call me mistress any more. You've been freed." Indeed it hadn't taken long for Jin to gain his freedom once he came to the States. He hadn't liked the advanced classes but he'd passed them rapidly.
Jin had started working for Alexa in both her mafia and as an escort, taking many of the clients that Trey would have if they were still together. "Alexa, this came in the mail and you can't afford to toss it like the others."
Jin hands the invitation to Alexa. He dreads the day that Alexa sends him back to his brother in Asia, although he hears that Joa is with Trey back here in the States. Alexa was less than pleased to hear that.
Alexa takes the invitation envelope and looks at Jin, "You know what this is for?" The envelope isn't open yet.
Jin holds her gaze, "Yes, Alexa, I received one myself. You really cannot afford to throw this away."
Alexa has learned to listen to Jin, he has very good instincts when it comes to business and even to some extent pleasure. He has very high ratings from those clients he takes on.
Alexa finally breaks the eye contact and once more places her attention on the envelope in front of her. Taking a deep breath she slits the envelope and takes out the invitation. It's an engagement party for Trey at his home. Alexa has a hell of a hard time hiding her feelings, it's only been a few months. Was it truly that easy for him to move on? Alexa still has a hella hard time even thinking about looking at another male.
Alexa look up at Jin once she is sure that she is able to control her emotions completely. "You knew about this?"
"Joa told me a little, it's an arranged marriage, Alexa, a business deal only. Trey can barely tolerate being in the same room with her. Her father wants the power he thinks he'll be getting with Trey's mafia."
Alexa looks a little more interested at that. "He's not aware that Trey has in fact subjected himself to me?" Alexa still hasn't allowed him to get the tattoo that would show that subjugation, but Trey still defers to her in all things. Strange that he hadn't mentioned this deal.
Jin shakes his head. "Trey hasn't told the man anything about being under the control of the Silver Dragons. He's planning something and I think you need to be at the party. Besides, Joa wishes to talk to you."
"Very well," Alexa says and gets back up. "You will be my date. You've been holding this invite back so now I need to go shopping." The party is for the next night. She wants a new dress for when she goes to Trey's party.
"Very well, should I come with you?" Jin doesn't like letting her out of his sight without appropriate security. She might be the most deadly female he's ever met, but she still should have security with her.
Alexa smirks, "Are you sure that you have time? I believe you have a luncheon date today."
Jin starts swearing up a storm. The date is important too. The daughter of an up and coming rival, Alexa wants information from her that will stop her father in his tracks.
"Then at least take Blaze." Jin pleads with the woman that has stolen his heart. He knows that she will never look at him in that way, her heart still belongs to Trey Michaels, even if she won't admit it to herself. She's been miserable without him, although you wouldn't know it to look at her. She hides the dark circles under her eyes with makeup. But Jin has heard her cries at night.
He hopes that the party will make it so that Alexa and Trey come back together.
Since Trey came back he's been seen about town with many different females almost nightly. Alexa never seemed to be bothered by the photos or the stories though.
Many had conjectured on their breakup when she came back from their trip to Asia without Trey.
Jin wonders how much longer Alexa is going to punish herself for that.
Blaze is bored, beyond bored. He hasn't been on guarding duty for years. He hates it, always has, that's why he worked as hard as he could to get promoted from it. But guarding a female while she's dress shopping is beyond bad.
Perhaps if it was someone other than Alexa, the girl he watched grow up, it wouldn't be so bad. He wouldn't mind being in the changing area then. But looking at Alexa like that makes him more than a little sick.
He doesn't like what the breakup with Trey has done to her. He's not happy about the rumors about Trey and that snobby bitch he's been seen with. He hopes the rumors aren't true. If there ever was someone worthy of Alexa, (which Blaze doubts), it's Trey Michaels.
He has to admit that Trey gained his respect once he took over the Silver Dragons while Alexa recovered. Of course saving her life also helped. He had hoped that Trey was good enough to be a life partner to Alexa.
Trey is the only man that had managed to bring a smile to Alexa's face since her mother was killed nearly two decades earlier. He wants to see that smile again, the one that makes others want to smile with her. It's so full of warmth and happiness.
But then Alexa came back from Asia and moved back into her house with the slaves that she has since freed. Alexa refuses to talk about what happened back there, but it had been more than three weeks before Trey returned as well and when he did he wasn't alone.
That had angered Blaze to no end.
Alexa had told him that things weren't what they seemed, but refused to have more than business contact with Trey after that.
Blaze really doesn't like being in the dark.
Alexa comes out in the dress she took to try on and Blaze's eyes about bug out.
Alexa smirks, "I think this is the dress I should wear for tomorrow, if your expression is anything to go by."
"You look breath takingly beautiful, Alexa. With that dress there won't be a male there that will be able to keep his eyes off you.
Alexa doesn't say anything but her smirk turns to a sly smile before heading back to the dressing room.
That's when Blaze realizes that tomorrow won't be an ordinary party. Alexa's going to make waves and he wishes he could be there.
