Chapter 2
Chapter 2
As soon as everything was clear to get out of my hiding spot, I quickly moved out and ensured no one was following me. Tonight was like any other night, but what surprised me was the man who let me get inside his car and helped me escape from those people who tried to take advantage of me and my family. I have no idea who he was or what made him do that, but I was glad that because of him, I got away safely from those bad guys.
I usually go straight home after a simple night out since my father would ask me what I did. All those sorts of questions that I shouldn't be answering required a reasonable response so he would believe me. I hated that he had to put himself in such big trouble when he entered politics, and now that he won as the Head of Government of Mexico City, what he wasn't aware of was that he just made himself big enemies, and I couldn't get away from the mess he created.
When I arrived at a security house, I immediately locked the doors. I was so sure no one ever followed me. No one was able to. I've been staying here for a while and I don't think these people who were coming after me could come closer to us. This place has been guarded ever since my father took his place in the office. We were never safe at home. One night, we just heard our maids calling us out for a fire that started to flare up in the backyard. It was terrifying.
It all started when my father filed for his candidacy for the mayoral position. A lot of people, especially those within the state loved his and his plans for the city. On the other hand, the opposition started to get annoyed by my father's show to the public. They tried to kill him in any sort of way-tried assassinating him during the debate, ambushed our car, and all those horrifying acts they did just for my father to withdraw his candidacy, but he didn't and then he won which only made them angrier.
My mom decided to stay in the US for a few months-but I was so sure, she wouldn't come back at all. They're divorced and she gave him the ultimatum that if he pursued a career in politics, she would leave him because my mom knew how dirty politics can be. Of course, my father, as stubborn as he was, didn't listen to his wife. I couldn't talk them out of it. They wouldn't listen to me anymore.
I joined my mom in staying in Los Angeles for a month, but I went back home as I knew my life was in Mexico. My father got mad at me for going back because he knew how dangerous it could be for me, but I didn't listen to him. I stayed in the country and now I'm trying to run away from these bad guys. If he knew how dangerous it was for our family, why would he ever choose to be in this position? Sometimes I wonder that. I felt like I didn't know my father at all.
Later on, as I was about to change my clothes and get ready for bed, I heard a few knocks on the door. I looked at the time and it was past eight in the evening and usually, no one would bother me at this hour. There was security outside the premises and they knew how I hated to be disturbed at this hour. I tried ignoring whoever it was as I felt it could be a new guy they put into work. They should've taught them better before they go on their work in the field.
When they stopped knocking, I thought it would be forever. Only after a few minutes, I heard them knocking again. I stormed my way back to the front door. As per the security check, I can't open the door unless they state their name and purpose.
"¿Quién es?" I asked. (Who is it?)
I repeated the same question three times, but no one answered to me. They stopped knocking as I was waiting for them to answer my question, but as soon as I walked away, there they went again. To my annoyance, I unlocked the door and opened it widely to see who it was because I wouldn't be able to feel okay when someone kept disturbing me
Just as I opened the door, the man who was standing in front of my doorway barged himself in. I was caught off guard by what he did. He closed the door behind him and placed his finger over his lips, hushing me not to utter a word or do any actions that I would eventually regret.
I stared at him so intently then I only realized who was this fucking guy. I started throwing punches on his face and every part of his body as he found me in my security house. He was covering himself with his huge arms and I don't think whatever I do was working. I tried my best to punch him on his shoulders and arms, but I only got my knuckles hurt in doing so.
"¡¿Quién carajo eres tú?! ¡¿Por qué me sigues?! ¡No te atrevas a hacerme nada malo! ¡Voy a matarte! ¡Te mataré! Lo haré-" I kept saying those words out loud so he would know who he was dealing with, but not until he shouted at my face making me step back away from him. (Who the fuck are you?! Why are you following me?! Don't you dare to do anything bad to me! I will kill you! I will murder you! I will-)
"¡Detener! Eres un jodido-" he cut his sentence and didn't even complete it as he bit his lips together. (Stop! You're such a fucking-)
My eyes narrowed, but at that point, I took the opportunity to get away from him. As I quickly turned my back away from him, I was too late before I could even do it. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. I knew I had to be scared for my life right now, but looking at his grey eyes didn't make me feel so terrorized.
"¿Qué quieres de mí?" I asked, gritting my teeth. "No creas que puedes acercarte tanto a mí. No creas que esta es tu oportunidad de hacerme algo. No sabes dónde estás ahora. Estarás muerto antes de que te des cuenta." (What do you want from me? Don't think you can get to me so close. Don't think like this is your chance to do something to me. You don't know where you are right now. You'll be dead before you know it.)
"¿Terminaste?" he questioned. It made me so baffled and laughed at it. (Are you done?)
I smirked, shaking my head.
"Ay, muchacho. Creo que no sabes lo que estás haciendo. Deberías soltar mi mano ahora si todavía quieres vivir el resto de tu vida," I spoke, but he only gave me a look that doesn't give any reaction away. (Oh, boy. I think you don't know what you're doing. You should let go of my hand now if you still like to live for the rest of your life.)
I tried to pull my hand from his grip out of nowhere, but I wasn't strong enough to do so.
"¿Crees que puedes intimidarme? He conocido a mucha gente que es como tú. Por favor, si quieres matarme, hazlo. Si quisieras-" he cut me off when he uttered the words I wasn't expecting to hear from his mouth. (Do you think you can intimidate me? I've met a lot of people who are just like you. Please, if you want to kill me, do it. If you wanted to-)
"¿Besarte? Esfuérzate más, Catalina," he smirked, feeling proud of what he stated. (Kiss you? Try harder, Catalina.)
That statement left my mouth dropped on the floor.
"¿Qué dijiste? ¡No quería que me besaras! ¡Eres una puta y ni siquiera te conozco!" I retorted, pushing his chest with my other hand. It didn't take a lot of action, but at least I showed him that I wouldn't back off from him. (What did you say? I didn't want you to kiss me! You're such a whore and I don't even know you!)
"Bien, déjame presentarme," he stated, scooping something out of his pocket from the back of his pants. He showed it to me and I saw that it was an identification card and a badge. "Soy Primitivo Juventino, parte del grupo del Servicio Secreto." (Okay, let me introduce myself to you. I'm Primitivo Juventino, part of the Secret Service group)
I wasn't sure if I would believe any word he would say. I looked at his face. I couldn't read him. It was like he was only telling me what I wanted to know. If he was telling the truth then I could trust him.
"¿Mi padre te envió a salvarme? ¿Protegerme? ¿O lo que tengas que hacer?" I asked him as I needed to know what was his intention and why there was only a single person who would risk his life for me. (Did my father send you to save me? Protect me? Or whatever you have to do?)
He's a little suspicious of me. I don't think I could trust him, especially when my life was in danger.
He didn't answer my question but felt his grip slowly releasing my hand. At that moment, I took the chance of kicking him on his balls and he quickly dropped on the floor as he covered his crotch with his hands. I fled to my room which I thought wasn't a good idea, but at least he wouldn't be able to come inside the room unless he forced himself in.
I got my phone and tried calling my father, but obviously, he wasn't picking up my calls. I also called the security people I closely work with, but unfortunately, my messages don't go through. I felt so hopeless when I couldn't even reach out for any help. They don't know that the person they were trying to protect was in great danger at this moment and they don't even care at all.
My room was just like any other room, it was so regular that the only thing I could do was sleep in it. There was another emergency exit aside from the back door, but it wasn't connected to my room.
The next thing I knew, I heard his footsteps coming closer to my bedroom. I had to make sure that it was locked so he couldn't come it. He tried opening the door and I heard he tried to open the knob, but it didn't.
He knocked on the door once again.
"Déjame entrar, Catalina. No soy tu enemigo. No soy alguien que te haría daño. No voy a poner tu vida en peligro. Estoy aquí para ayudarte, así que no me lo pongas difícil," he explained. (Let me come in, Catalina. I'm not your enemy. I'm not someone who would hurt you. I'm not gonna put your life in danger. I'm here to help you out so don't make it hard for me to do so.)
"¡Ni siquiera te conozco!" I shouted. (I don't even know you!)
"Ya te dije mi nombre. Supongo que eso ya es suficiente para que sepas quién soy," he said, standing up to his word. (I already told you my name. I guess, that's already enough for you to know who I am.)
"Entonces estaremos aquí para siempre, señor Juventino." (Then we'll be here forever, Mister Juventino.)
He smiled. "Me alegra que hayas aprendido mi nombre tan rápido. Esto debería ser fácil así que no nos lo pongas difícil. No haga que la persiga, señorita Orozo." (I'm glad you picked up my name so quickly. This should be easy so don't make it hard for us. Don't make me chase you, Miss Orozo.)
I chuckled. "Bueno, me complace presentarles mi vida. Hagamos mi juego y persigamos, señor Juventino." (Well, I'm pleased to introduce you to my life. Let's play my game and chase me, Mister Juventino.)
