Walking back to the tree the Day Pride, yawning and talking,

"Good morning Kion", Besthe announced,

"Morning Besthe", Kion said, also nodding to the rest of the guards.

"We got to go talk to the young ones, so Fuli you'll be in charge till I join you later today".

"Okay Kion, see you later", Fuli said, leading the guard down the south entrance.

Kion and Rani entered the tree, the cubs were still asleep, they looked at peace and so cute it'll be wrong to wake them up, but it was time.

"Karla? Rafi? Carlos? Time to wake up", Rani said, nudging their scruffs, with a groin and moan they slowly yawned awake. " What time is it?", Karla sighed,

"It's time to tell you something very special and important. Come on; up you get", Kion said walking out of the tree with Rani. Carlos and Rafi looked at each other, then to Karla,

"What was that about?", Carlos asked,

"I don't know? Let's find out", Karla said walking out as the two males stumbled over each other.

Exiting the tree Karla found herself being blinded by the light, she soon found her sight, her gaze fell upon her mother and father walking to the mountain side,

"Come on guys, mum and dad need to tell us something" Karla said pacing towards the mountain.

Walking up the path to Mount Tempa Karla was getting inquisitive about Kion's statement, she was a smart lioness, could it be she was becoming queen? she thought to herself, the thought of taking over the Tree Of Life overwhelmed her, an unpleasant feeling began to unfold in her stomach, she was brave as well so she shook off the thought and ran up next to her mother.

"Where's your two brothers?", Rani asked looking back at her,

"Um, you know, probably playing their way out of the tree", Karla chuckled.

"Well they better get up here very soon or else they'll miss the news", Rani said in an orderly tone.

Karla halted for a split second, Rani's tone made her aware of the situation, it was serious and important, more thoughts filled her head.

"Come on sis, hurry up", Rafi shouted with Carlos running past him and slowing down by Kion's side. Karla shook the thoughts off again and jogged by Rani's side again. "So; What's the news about Mother?", Carlos asked,

"You'll find out soon enough", Kion said in his serious tone.

"Oh, A-alright then", Rafi said, he too noticed the tone and soon began to act serious, he wasn't as smart and strong as Karla but he was the bravest out of the royal family, second best to Bunga, everyone was shocked about it, questions were raised and they were answered, Mufasa simply stated it was a gift from the elders. That left Carlos, he was a thinker and the fiercest, he takes after his father, they know about the Lion Guard, how the roar works, the history and mechanics around it, but they were too young, too adventures to realize the state of their powers, their gifts and their destiny. Well today would be the day they know.

Finally reaching the top of the mountain they sat down in a line and waited for Mufasa to appear. Soon enough the elder appeared.

"Ah, Karla, Rafi, Carlos, it's nice to see you once again", Mufasa smiled.

"Yes great grandfather, it's nice to see you again", Karla said on behalf of the two brothers who nodded in agreement.

"Do you know why you're here today in presence of me?",

"No great grandfather, but my mother and father told me it's something important?" Karla said respectfully,

"Indeed, for you see that your mother and father are King and Queen of the Tree Of Life and they have massive responsibilities and I'm afraid they are getting busier and managing two roles at once is tiring them, so they have decided that they'll step down from guard duties",

"Wh-what? Why", Karla said facing Kion and Rani,

"Because it is time for you guys to take over for us", Kion said smiling, shocked by the sudden news,

"But what about the Day Pride and Night Pride?", Rafi asked,

"They'll continue on their duties, you'll be joining them", Rani said,

"Do they know?", Carlos asked,

"Not yet, We'll announce it when they get back from their shifts",

"This would mean that you guys can't be playing around anymore, protecting the Circle Of Life is a massive responsibility, you can't compromise it, you're growing up and maturing, you know about your gifts, they're like powers, with great power comes great responsibility so respect it and it'll respect you. Regret it or use it for evil and you'll lose it, do you promise to protect the circle of life, family, friends and the animals? To use your gifts well and defend?". Mufasa expressed.

"Yes great grandfather, I promise to use my keen eyes, to see right and wrong, to use my power and to be brave, fast and strong. I will protect my animal friends. I pledge to the Lion Guard, I will defend!", The three cubs site in unison.

"Very well, may the elders bless you three on your journey through the Circle Of Life, remember that we're here for you every step of the way, good luck; Do us proud, now thank you Rani for your service, may your royal duties be like no other. Now I'd like to speak to Kion alone please", Mufasa nodded.

Rani and the cubs got up and walked down the mountain, the cubs taking it all in, it was all very strange to them, it was exciting but at the same time frightful. They are going to be the new protectors.

"Do you think they're ready?", Mufasa asked,

"I think so, they are getting older and we're getting older, it is only a matter of time before they grow up, remember I was the same age as them now when I was placed leader of the Lion Guard",

"Indeed, just making sure, It'll be a big responsibility for Carlos since he'll be the leader of the new Lion Guard or whatever comes in mind",

"Yes grandfather, I'm sure they'll be fine, a little indecisive at first like me, but once they get a hang of it they'll be breaking my record in no time", Kion chuckled.

"Mvm, let's hope not shall we", Mufasa chuckled back.
